00:28Hi, my name is Alex, I'm the frontman of The Mount Band.
00:32Besides being a vocalist and playing guitar, I do the songwriting and I co-produce our records.
00:39The Mount as a band, at this point of time, is actually just me and our sound producer,
00:45with whom we've worked for a really long time since our first EP and even earlier many other projects.
00:52As you understand, we don't play a lot now since the first lockdown in spring,
00:57so all of the band members who play with us live are on so-called vacation.
01:04The Mount started as a studio project in 2015.
01:08Then grown life, unfortunately 2020, brought us back to where we started.
01:14Our latest and fifth EP is called Five Reflect, and it started from an idea to try to dig into
01:21the consciousness of toxic people in power,
01:24and I mean mostly politicians in this case.
01:27So how do they cross that line that for most adequate people seems to be the threshold of evil?
01:33What emotional processes drive them?
01:35That's how our first song in the EP, Let's Talk About It, was written, for which we also shot a
01:40video, so check it out.
01:43Five Reflect is also a symbolic reflection of 2020 in all its agonists,
01:49from psychological challenges of being in the closed world of ourselves, which isolation offers us,
01:56to the global alarming political processes.
02:00We worked almost a year on the album.
02:03Eventually it was completely created by two people only, from the idea, recording, production, and ending with mustering.
02:14It's a creative collaboration of two people, of me and our song producer, Alexander.
02:20This album has five songs, one of which is instrumental.
02:23I tend to write and sing in English, that's how I melodically think,
02:29but I always try to have some material in my native language, which is Ukrainian.
02:34That's how the song Znekai was born on this album.
02:38Besides video for Let's Talk About It, we created a series of visualizers,
02:43to support the atmosphere and the idea of the songs.
02:47I usually try to have a holistic visual concept on every album.
02:52The main cover art and the art for individual singles is based on the fragments of those visualizers.
03:01I've written a lot of material during the lockdown, so I guess that the month will release a new album
03:07next year.
03:08I hope that the live format will be reborn and we'll have the opportunity to perform our music.
03:15I'm happy that Five Reflect crossed so many borders virtually and was heard so far away from Ukraine.
03:21That's a big honor to speak to a new audience.
03:25It's a great way for Ukraine to open to the world.
03:29So I hope to play your beautiful country someday and this is a great destination and such a great plan.
03:39This is Alex from The Moms. This is Underground. This is Holy Noise. Cheers!
