00:00There was almost nothing left, only charred debris from this outpost in Kuwait for the Army's 103rd Sustainment Command.
00:07This is the first time any evidence of the damage on the ground has been shown publicly.
00:12Everything shook, and it's something like what you see in the movies.
00:17You know, everything, your ears are ringing. You know, there's dust and smoke everywhere.
00:21This U.S. soldier was part of a crew of about 60 troops stationed at the installation,
00:25tasked with managing the movement of equipment, munitions, and personnel across the Middle East.
00:30We are putting you in shadow, but there's still a risk for you speaking that you could be identified.
00:37Why do you want to take that chance?
00:38For me, I think telling the truth is important.
00:41His unit's leadership ordered them to move to the post ahead of the war.
00:46And he says they did that despite intelligence showing it was on a list of potential Iranian drone targets.
00:52We moved closer to Iran, to a deeply unsafe area that was a known target.
01:01So what was the reason that you were told for why you needed to be there?
01:05I don't think there was a good reason ever articulated.
01:08The attack was Iran's deadliest strike against the U.S. in five weeks of war,
01:13killing six American soldiers and injuring dozens more.
01:16Were these deaths preventable?
01:18In my opinion, absolutely yes.
01:20Something else the soldier wanted to share, the bravery and heroism of the surviving soldiers,
01:26many of whom triaged each other and drove themselves to local hospitals.
01:31Just shrapnel all over.
01:33So folks are bleeding from their abdomen, bleeding from their arms, bleeding from their legs.
01:36This was a direct hit.
01:38Yeah, 100%.
01:39The day after the attack, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth called the Iranian drone a squirter
01:44that got through the Army's air defenses.
01:46It happened to hit a tactical operations center that was fortified, but these are powerful weapons.
01:54What fortifications existed there?
01:56I mean, I would put it in the none category from a drone defense capability.
02:03None?
02:03There were no fortifications?
02:04None.
