00:09TFI
00:10Luke, whatever you want.
00:11TFI is to survive. Take it away.
00:17My name is Chris Evans, original presenter of TFI Friday.
00:24So Chris, how would you describe this TFI?
00:29Er, like the old one, only 1% of the budget.
00:37Am I getting paid for this?
00:41It's a bit cheap, isn't it?
00:45My, what, that one?
00:48TFI, to survive. Take that.
00:52So, yeah, I'm Kedge, and I'm the exec producer of TFI Unplugged.
00:56So, Evan says it's like the original, except 1% of the budget.
01:001%? No, no, it's much less than that.
01:03Don't tell him.
01:04Take, take, take.
01:06Boom.
01:07My name's Owen, and I've just started working on TFI Unplugged.
01:18What do you do, Owen?
01:20Er, you mostly get blamed for things.
01:22That seems a bit harsh.
01:25I love it.
01:28Did I feed you lot?
01:29No.
01:31I thought not.
01:31No, we'd never been fed.
01:33Total t-f**k, innit?
01:34Total t-f**k, innit?

02:22Previously on TFI Unplugged.
02:28TFI Unplugged.
02:30What are you talking about?
02:32I look like Jedward.
02:34How many times did you do, TFI?
02:36Loads.
02:36It was like it was our second half.
02:38I'd rather top and go down than England win the World Cup.
02:42Yes, I got it.
02:43It doesn't make for good TV.
02:44You can have that.
02:45Thank you very much.
02:46Basically, only homeless people turned up.
02:53All right, so that's all you've missed.
02:55But you can catch up on the first eight episodes of TFI Unplugged on YouTube.
03:00I know.

03:04Jack Saboretti singing live.
03:07And India's biggest star, Shreya Gashal, on the show.
03:12But first of all, I've got a letter here about letters, actually.
03:16Hey, Chris, what is the current state of the It's Your Letters top five?
03:19Well, it's funny you should ask, because at number five in the all-time top five for It's Your Letters,
03:24it is, with It's Your Letters, Tony Bennett.
03:28Letters.

04:34How about that?
04:35And at number one with It's Your Letters, the founding father of It's Your Letters, it's Ree.

06:11made-up name, Kelly from Kentucky.
06:13That'll do, OK.
06:14Kelly Kentucky says, she doesn't say, but we say,
06:16What's happened, see, what's happened, what's happened, I know, to Will since TFI last time?
06:23And is it true he hasn't aged today?
06:25Well, let's find out. Please welcome back, Will!
06:28CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
06:31WILL!
06:33WILL!
06:35WILL!
06:35WILL!
06:36WILL!
06:37WILL!
06:38WILL!

06:46WILL!
06:47WILL!
06:49WILL!
06:50WILL!
06:50WILL!
06:51WILL!
06:52WILL!
06:52WILL!
06:52WILL!
06:52here before haven't we well i mean we've been here anyway yeah uh 96 97 98 99 but also they're
06:58saying
06:58tfi is back you know uh first time since the 90s but we've done it before yep 2015 2015 was
07:05it 10
07:05we did we did a special right which was very special it was a very special and then we did
07:1210 more all right so so we did 11 so we did 11 all right so we brought it back
07:16because channel
07:16said why don't you do like a 20th anniversary show they said 20th anniversary yes we went
07:21great that's brilliant uh i sat down and went oh it's 19 actually yeah and they said it doesn't
07:27matter just call it the 20th yeah so we did it very tfi thing to do yeah it did really
07:31well didn't it
07:32and then they said why don't you do some more so we did some more yeah so that was fun
07:35yeah and then
07:36you went nuts then i went nuts not for the first time not for the first time um so when
07:42we when we
07:43were doing it back in the day um you were exec producer um and we did loads and loads of
07:48shows
07:48and then i didn't do the last six you didn't do the last six who did do the last six
07:52uh presented
07:53by the likes of couple of spice girls elton did the last one elton john did the last tfi friday
07:58he put it to rest yeah well it didn't go well for him so he had to go back to
08:01singing
08:03it was his top gear at least that's how i'm gonna frame it so uh yeah and then then it
08:10went away
08:11okay and then what did you do i produced this uh wonderful uh novel here novella here okay uh
08:18called how to be a genius thank you very much for your admiration available in any good ebay's
08:24discount bin now for the thing is because pub genius was a slot we did on the show people loved
08:28it yeah and to the extent you brought out this book will mcdonald pub genius did really well you
08:33took it on tour you had a whole live show you had dancing girls everything pyrotechnics going on
08:37yeah yeah i knew about that it's it's i mean you call it a book my other half calls it
08:41a pamphlet
08:42because the ink comes off on your fingers but um and what does your other half do for a living
08:46uh she works in opera yeah she's uh she's a little pamphlet pub genius no but i knew about that
08:54so
08:54what's the confession uh the confession is yeah you probably don't know this uh i brought out a
09:00second volume you did not i didn't know that this now sounds like a plug for for a book that
09:07came
09:07out 25 years ago will will mcdonald's here to talk about his new book seeing as you have two of
09:13these
09:13books out now i think it's time for an updated reimagination of will mcdonald pub genius
09:22uh i'm going to drink the beer in that glass out of that sherry glass
09:28cherry ask your dad anyone who's known what a sherry sherry glasses uh out of there without
09:32touching it with my hands right at this point we all go we know at this point we'll go no
09:35way
09:36no can't be done no way can't be done impossible the man's the fraud
09:52that's the strangest heckle ever be careful with the microphone
09:57um can be done drum roll please
10:25no way
10:43well pop genius volume three coming soon let's hear from wood everyone
10:51he remains the uk's official pop genius our next guest has the voice of an angel the hair
10:57of a god and the brightest smile in showbiz he is a mentor in the new series your song which
11:03continues on sundays on channel four so let's make our whole day a lot brighter with sam rider
11:26hey i'm buzzing for this we're buzzing on channel four both of us on channel four how are you i'm
11:31great how's your new show i was like getting goosebumps hearing your intro to show again
11:36yeah i was just like this is where you this is it we're back you're back and you you have
11:40your
11:40own thing going on with yes tell us all about it samurai it's berserk um it's so we we go
11:45up and
11:45down the country we bring a stage with us this amazing crew that work tirelessly building this
11:50thing and setting it up and organizing people just to get on that stage who've probably never sung in
11:55public before by the way with a live band and the band are absolutely cooking they're so good
12:00um and these guys just come they share a story could be something um seismic that's happened in
12:07their life the deepest like depths of their soul that they're sharing with total strangers that are
12:12just out shopping walking down the high street and they'll sing a song that's attributed to that
12:17feeling and that story and the connection that you see being made honestly chris it is just beautiful
12:24man it's so so lovely and you're perfect for this because because you you know you wear your heart on
12:29your sleeve and some don't you well i i try my best to like i think it's a nice way
12:33to live because
12:34you get to meet people where they're at and you you find out more about them like any interaction with
12:40a stranger if you're emotionally open and your your heart is open i feel it's more valuable so is it
12:45an
12:45anti-talent show how would you say i've never thought of it that way but it's it's interesting
12:50because there's no carrot man there's no like um sort of you know you win a record deal at the
12:55end or
12:55we'll put your single out like at the end it's it's nothing like that because these people they're
13:00not professional singers they're likely hadn't ever stood on a stage with a live band like an actual
13:07drummer playing before something like that and they're singing a song that's totally just theirs
13:12the words mean something different to them than they do to like anyone else in the world all right
13:17all the way to best here's the thing though when if somebody comes on and smashes it what are you
13:20going to do you're not going to ignore them are you no you don't ignore them but you you like
13:24you
13:25have an event at the end of it at the um the hackney empire yeah and then all the singers
13:30that every
13:30single person's invited everyone comes down and absolutely rinses the free bar but a couple of the
13:36people from each round like we have them perform on the night so that that is the prize there's no
13:43there's no there's no record deal there's no like old trope it's made by the bake-off people
13:47yeah so it's got heart yeah well also the point is i know that a lot of people who've won
13:51the
13:51bake-off have gone on to do amazing things most of them have in fact and that is hot by
13:56the way
13:56sorry about that i tried i tried to style that out of your shows that are smoking
14:02things have changed at channel 4 they bought a kettle it's unbelievable not only you but paloma
14:08faith as well and alice and hammond yeah man they're fantastic i mean they're mad as a box of frogs
14:12like both but they're so good to be around individually they're bonkers yeah no but
14:17together all of us do you know sprinkle a bit a rider on top yeah yeah who knows what might
14:21happen
14:21the all of our laughs also are so cackly it's unreal so i'm like and like paloma as well and
14:27alice and so the three of us last laughing together it's like the witches of eastwick
14:30around the cauldron alice and hammond's laugh is second only to her smell
14:36she's the greatest smelling person in the show oh mate she's great unbelievable um and so do you get
14:41together did you like do you perform at any point that you and paloma every now and then we'll jump
14:46up like there's a little um they call it a golden hour so anyone passing by that sort of wants
14:52to get
14:52involved can just jump up and sing and it's so lovely man because you'll just see someone
14:56passing by with literally holding a bag of shopping be like i'll have a go and everyone's getting
15:03involved i love it it's such a simple concept isn't it yeah this it's like it's mister isn't it's the
15:08wind beneath your wings yeah mate absolutely and i just want to sing wind beneath my wings
15:14well i always told you're on vocal yeah i know mate can you hear my voice
15:20are you working on anything new at the moment um always but no mate honestly you do you don't want
15:27to hear it it is bad so uh seeing as we're now back and sharing a pair of words last
15:35orders of the
15:36bar not just someone i'm drinking at the moment how long have you not had a drink for um over
15:41two
15:41years yeah yeah nearly three mate come on which is ironic because the last time we did have a drink
15:47together in a sauna yeah absolutely never yeah yeah highly unrecommended that's like the worst
15:55possible thing we went to be hydrated in a sauna with a bottle of tequila yeah it was it was
15:59good
15:59yeah and that that's probably what it did for both of us i think wasn't it it was that was
16:02our bottom
16:03yeah that that was absolutely the lancaster all the engines out just really wasn't it yeah
16:09some great to see you ma'am mate all right this has been some rider everyone
16:14okay okay all right we'll be back after the break with more chafi applause
16:18it's stupid girl
16:22it's stupid girl
16:26all you had wasted
16:31all you had wasted
16:42it's stupid girl
16:47It's stupid, girl
16:50All you had to wait in
16:54I can't believe you faked it
17:01Wow, that was the brilliant Garbage and Stupid Girl.
17:06How good is that?
17:07All right, still to come on TFI Unplugged,
17:09India's biggest star, Shrega Scholl's going to be here.
17:11OK, she's going to be performing an amazing cover of Coldplay's Fic Q,
17:16plus we reveal the winner of Slurpsy Jolly Juggler 2026.
17:21I know, I know, the finalists are amazing.
17:24Will it be Olympic gold medalist Matt Weston?
17:31Not bad.
17:33Or will it be Patrick McDreamy, Dr McDreamy Dempsey, with it?
17:39Yeah!
17:43Very good.
17:44Or will it be Rockin' Ross Noble, juggling and eating?
17:53Exciting stuff.
17:54And remember, Celebrity Juggling fans, your vote counts.
17:58And most importantly, you can only think your votes in.
18:01Remember that, OK?
18:02Yeah, no, we don't accept any actual real votes.
18:07Sorry.
18:08Who watches this rubbish?
18:10All right, now it's time for something very special on TFI Unplugged.
18:14Every single week, we're going to bring some TFI gold.
18:17And where better to start than with...
18:19David Bowie.
18:39Hello, Chris.
18:40Welcome to the show, sir. Thank you very much.
18:42OK.
18:45I think if you put Clive on his back, he'd be taller than me.
18:48Sorry?
18:48If you put Clive on his back, he'd be taller than me.
18:50All right, now listen, you've got these high heel things.
18:52Very high heel shoes.
18:54But they don't count...
18:54Oh, OK, it counts.
18:56Well, look, there you go.
18:57I'll give you...
18:58I should...
18:58Measure out 5 foot 10 and a half.
19:00I can't do 5 foot 10 and a half.
19:02Yes.
19:03Are you 5 foot 10 and a half?
19:04Yes.
19:04You're not 5 foot 10 and a half.
19:06I'm 5 foot 10 and a half.
19:07OK, all right, hang on a minute.
19:08Hang on a minute.
19:08Let's see.
19:09What are you?
19:10See, let's see.
19:11There you go.
19:12That's pretty accurate.
19:13David.
19:14I'm still big.
19:15Bowie?
19:16I'm...
19:16B...
19:17B...
19:18O...
19:19Go on.
19:20Carry on.
19:21W-I-N...
19:22OK, officially, David Bowie is taller than Benno.
19:24Yeah!
19:30Oh, yeah.
19:33So, David...
19:33I had a hell of a time getting there.
19:35I know.
19:36Go on.
19:36I know you want to talk about this.
19:37Go on.
19:37Let me tell...
19:38No, you don't know.
19:39I tried to cross that Smith Bridge
19:41and I didn't know that the rich people
19:43have got it all blocked up.
19:44Right.
19:45So, I got fined, dragged into court,
19:48all that, all in the last half hour.
19:49No way.
19:50Yes, it's absolutely true.
19:51And I've had gastroenteritis.
19:54Oh...
19:55All in the last half hour.
19:57Hey, can't you tell the gastroenteritis
19:58is still doing the rounds?
20:00Do you know how I got that?
20:01Go on.
20:01I was in Indonesia.
20:02I was lost in the jungle.
20:04This is absolutely true.
20:07What?
20:07I believe you.
20:08Yeah.
20:09And an old man with one leg and a donkey found me
20:11and took me to a glade
20:14and pointed to a temple
20:15and a palace.
20:17And I said,
20:18I'm not Muslim.
20:20Wife is.
20:20I'm not.
20:21So, we're going to the palace.
20:22You're going to let me go on with this, aren't you?
20:24Dead right, mate.
20:25You started it.
20:26We got to the palace
20:27and it's the son of,
20:29I think he was a gun runner
20:30and he had guys in turrets
20:32all around the palace with guns
20:33to keep the poor people out.
20:35He was so pleased to see me
20:37that he put a sheet up
20:38in the garden
20:39at the bottom of the garden.
20:41Pour in with rain.
20:42Yeah.
20:42Servants holding a sheet up
20:44at the far end of the garden
20:45had a projector
20:46on the porch
20:47where we were
20:47and we sat and watched
20:49Sahara
20:49with Brooke Shields.
20:53Then,
20:56then he threw a party
20:57and he had seven daughters
20:58and seven sons.
21:02Yeah.
21:03I always laugh
21:03when I say that.
21:05And the seven daughters,
21:07they entertained me royally
21:09with dance
21:10and, no,
21:11flute playing.
21:12Flute playing and dance
21:14and he fed me things
21:16like monkey breast
21:17and parrot beak,
21:19I think it was.
21:20It was the course that night
21:21and the next day
21:24I redecorated the bathroom.
21:26But he sent his daughter
21:28over to me.
21:29His favourite daughter.
21:30He sent to me.
21:32If you know what I mean.
21:33Yes.
21:34To you.
21:34I couldn't make it
21:35to the front door.
21:37Go away.
21:38You're beautiful
21:39but go away.
21:40This was many years ago.
21:41That has nothing...
21:43This has absolutely
21:45nothing to do
21:46with the fact
21:46that I got gastroenteritis
21:48the other day.
21:48That was just...
21:49It just reminded me though
21:50that I've had it twice.
21:59We're going to talk
22:00about the chair.
22:01Okay.
22:01Shall we talk about the chair?
22:02No, you can talk about
22:03whatever you want.
22:04This is the second worst chair
22:06I've sat on today.
22:07Show them.
22:07Show them the chair.
22:08Look at this chair.
22:09That chair.
22:10The first one
22:11is owned by Richard Branson
22:12on Virgin Airlines
22:13and he has...
22:15No, they're fabulous.
22:16Virgin Airlines
22:17are great
22:18except this one.
22:19It's the 747-200 series
22:21and he bought it
22:22from Cathay,
22:23I think,
22:23Cathay Pacific
22:24and they've left
22:25the old chairs
22:26on the Chinese chairs
22:27but they've just put
22:28virgin material on it
22:30and you can't...
22:31You know,
22:31it won't go anywhere.
22:32It's all...
22:33And so I slept like that
22:36for...
22:36I've only just...
22:37I've been up for 29 hours.
22:39We can tell, can't we?
22:41This is me straight, buddy.
22:44You're lucky you didn't know me
22:4625 years ago.
22:49How are you doing?
22:50I'm great, actually.
22:51Great.
22:51Good.
22:52You used to stay up
22:52for seven to eight days
22:53at a time.
22:54I did indeed, yes.
22:55Now, what's that like?
22:56I had a lot of friends
22:58and you've got to give
22:59friends time.
23:01Was that the drugs then?
23:04What, that attracted
23:05the friends, you mean?
23:06The reason I had friends?
23:08Probably, yeah.
23:09I imagine.
23:09They all disappeared
23:10when I stopped doing drugs
23:11so I think you're probably
23:12right on the money there.
23:13So, did you find
23:14that you wrote better songs
23:15or worse songs?
23:17When you did the old,
23:18you know...
23:18Well, as I wrote things
23:20like Low, Heroes, Lodger,
23:22Scary Monsters,
23:23all straight.
23:24By the way, by the way,
23:24by the way.
23:27Without drugs.
23:30Pretty much without drugs.
23:33I don't think...
23:34I think it's just an attitude
23:35more, you know,
23:36whether you're enjoying it
23:37and, you know...
23:38But you don't have a drink
23:39now either, do you?
23:39I don't drink
23:40and I don't drug, no.
23:41But you smoke facts
23:42and you drink coffee.
23:43Oh, God.
23:43Yeah.
23:44I'm dying for a cigarette.
23:46Well, you can't have one
23:47on the telly.
23:47We're not allowed to.
23:48In the old days you could
23:49but you can't anymore.
23:50Seriously.
23:50You can have one in drama
23:51but they're sent in drama.
23:52Mind you, you're turning it into one.
23:53It's very good sense.
23:54It's time to tell
23:55that a drama or a...
23:56If you were...
23:57If the harm
23:58that cigarettes did...
23:59Yeah.
24:00...could be seen
24:00on the outside of your body...
24:01Could be bottled and sold.
24:03Well, it is, I suppose.
24:04You could provide
24:04half the mercenaries
24:05in America
24:06with a new weapon,
24:06couldn't you?
24:07But if it was...
24:08Forget anthrax, buddy.
24:10Nicotine in the...
24:11They did a program
24:12on American television
24:13the other night.
24:14I cannot believe it.
24:16As though we haven't
24:16got enough problems.
24:17Dateline did this thing.
24:19Let's recreate
24:20what would happen
24:21if terrorists threw anthrax down
24:22on the American subway.
24:25And they spent
24:26all this money
24:27showing us
24:28how 500,000 people
24:29would be dead
24:30in one day in New York.
24:32How bodies would be
24:33piled up
24:34because all the grave diggers
24:35would have buggered off
24:36after Queens
24:37or wherever they come from.
24:39Brooklyn?
24:39I don't know.
24:40Where do grave diggers
24:41come from?
24:41I don't know.
24:43See, the questions
24:44this kind of debate rises.
24:46And it went on
24:47for about an hour
24:48and I was so depressed
24:49at the end of it
24:50realising that I
24:52really mustn't stay
24:53in cities where
24:54even the tiniest possibility
24:56of anthrax being
24:57loosed upon
24:58me and my family.
25:00But then I forgot
25:01all about it
25:01in half an hour
25:02because friends came on.
25:05And that's the world
25:06we live in.
25:06That's the world
25:06we live in.
25:07It is.
25:07Sure enough.
25:08Who are the best
25:09kissers?
25:09Stop smiling.
25:10Your camera's shaking.
25:12Who are the best
25:13kissers, men or women?
25:15Why, ask me.
25:20Do they kiss differently?
25:24You know,
25:25there are a lot
25:26of doctors
25:26who can actually
25:27help you with this.
25:32David, actual baby.
25:33That seemed to work,
25:34didn't it?
25:34So let's do it again.
25:35And here's the cure
25:36back after the break.
25:39I don't care
25:40if Monday's blue
25:43Tuesday's great
25:44and Wednesday too
25:45Thursday,
25:46I don't care about you
25:49It's Friday
25:50I don't care about you
26:16Oh, yeah.
26:21I know. The actual cure. That was the cure with Friday, I'm in love.
26:27Okay, our next guest, it's Jack Sabaretti!
26:35Number one, baby!
26:39Number one!
26:41How does it feel to be number one?
26:44What a weight!
26:45I feel like I'm slightly too old for this.
26:47No way!
26:48But it's all thanks to you, man.
26:50The promo that you...
26:51It's not all thanks to me.
26:52You wrote the darling songs and you've been in it forever.
26:55Yeah, forever. It feels like forever.
26:57We will always be there.
26:58The brand new album from Jack Sabaretti is currently number one in the year.
27:04Yeah, absolutely smashing the opposition.
27:06It's all true.
27:07Okay, so Cruel World, Holly Humberston.
27:10Amazing record.
27:11Yeah, nice one, Holly, but so close, but no cigar.
27:16They're at number two.
27:17Ella Langley, Dandelion.
27:18Another amazing...
27:19They're all amazing records.
27:20They're all amazing.
27:20And then there's this newbie, Olivia Dean.
27:23Olivia Dean.
27:24Yeah.
27:24I told you that when they put a picture of me and her on socials on the official chart,
27:28and my daughter thought it was like me pranking her.
27:30Yeah.
27:31She didn't believe that I was actually...
27:32Well, first of all, you thought it was somebody pranking you.
27:33I thought I was being pranked.
27:35I wasn't going to say that, but I thought I was being pranked, but it's all real.
27:39Yeah, and Ray is at number five as well.
27:41I'm such a fan of all of these artists.
27:43But once again, let me say Jack Sabaretti at number one, my friend.
27:46Yay!
27:46Yay!
27:47I didn't prepare a speech, right?
27:48No, well, clearly.
27:52But when were you told?
27:54When did the whispers start getting loud enough for you to hear that this might be something
27:57special?
27:58It was online.
27:59I mean, I asked everybody before the campaign even started.
28:02I was like, look, I don't want to know anything.
28:04Because it's not something I set out to do.
28:07It's not something that's in my sort of my reason for going for it.
28:10But the minute you know, you really want it.
28:13The minute they give you that thing of like, look, we might be up in for a chance of a
28:16number
28:16one album.
28:17You suddenly start to think it's just such a nice way to thank everybody that's helped
28:21you made the record.
28:22Of course it is.
28:22You can make it mean nothing.
28:23It can mean absolutely nothing to you.
28:24Or you can make it mean everything to the people that are involved with this.
28:27And that's so important, isn't it?
28:29Yeah.
28:29We've had loads of messages because people knew you were coming on.
28:32You've got loads of fans, loads of people looking forward to the Royal Albert Hall
28:35next week.
28:35Yeah.
28:35That's another thing keeping me up at night.
28:37We're playing the Royal Albert Hall, which is good.
28:39But you've done this before.
28:40Not for my own, not on my own back.
28:41I've opened up for people.
28:43No, you've done gigs before.
28:44Oh, I've done gigs.
28:46It's just a different room.
28:48It's a different room.
28:48You know when the decorators come in and you have to move the sofa out from the living
28:52room to the kitchen.
28:53It's the same thing.
28:54Same as that.
28:54I'm telling myself, I keep telling the band that, like I'm preaching exactly what you're
28:58saying.
28:58I'm like a football manager.
28:59I'm like, we stick to our game plan.
29:00But you don't believe it.
29:01But I'm dying inside.
29:03The band will go, Jack, we're fine with this.
29:04Yeah.
29:05Well, no, look, it is like a football player playing Wembley.
29:08Everybody wants to bring their A game.
29:09And it does make a difference.
29:10There's something about that room when you walk into it.
29:13It's not the size of it.
29:14It's the regalness of it.
29:16The majesty.
29:16Yeah, yeah, yeah.
29:17And it's intimate.
29:18And that's kind of really wonderful but disconcerting how intimate it is.
29:22It is.
29:23It's like a velvet cushion, isn't it?
29:25Totally.
29:25There's lots of velvet around.
29:26There's lots of crushed red velvet around.
29:28It's lush.
29:28The acoustics are fantastic, aren't they?
29:30The acoustics are fantastic.
29:32They're really good for voice and if you keep it quite intimate.
29:34If you go too big, it can sort of bounce all over the place.
29:37All right.
29:38So if you got a ticket for next week, he's not going big.
29:40You might as well stay home.
29:42Oh no, we're going to go big.
29:43No.
29:44But on a different level.
29:45I'm sorry.
29:45So will it change?
29:47Will the rhythm of the show change because of where it is?
29:50No, that's another thing.
29:51We're really trying to stick to our guns.
29:53And the band playing with me is my band for pretty much 15 to 20 years.
29:56Some guys have been with me for ages and they're the guys playing on the record.
30:00So this is kind of like the first time we're playing the record from top to bottom and we're
30:04doing something really grown up.
30:06I stole this idea from Arcade Fire.
30:08We're going to do the new album top to bottom, then have an interval.
30:11Oh!
30:12Right.
30:13Ooh.
30:14Exactly.
30:15Is that because you...
30:16Because we're so grown up now.
30:17We're so old.
30:19You need a wee.
30:20We...
30:21That's the thing.
30:22The first time this ever happened to me, right, I went to...
30:25I think it was the Eagles.
30:27I think I went to...
30:28I think it was the Eagles.
30:29Amazing.
30:29One of my dream shows.
30:30Yeah, one of the dream shows.
30:31And there was an interval.
30:32And I was like, an interval?
30:34This is interesting.
30:35And I'm thinking, okay, that's...
30:36It's beer time.
30:37But of course, you then...
30:38You then go from the stadium, from your seat, and you go down to where the beers are
30:42and you think, it's going to be a big queue.
30:44I better get there as quick as I can.
30:45No.
30:46The queue for the lose was so much longer than the queue for the beers.
30:49Because of the demographic of the audience.
30:52Yeah.
30:53Yeah.
30:53I mean, I kind of put myself in that.
30:55Like, it'll be nice to have a little half an hour rest.
30:57Yeah, and I think the band needed a comfort break as much as the audience.
31:01We did a sort of...
31:03We did a show, like a warm-up show in Liverpool about a month ago, just to sort of see
31:06if we
31:06could actually play this stuff live.
31:08And we had an interval.
31:09And we were all like, why have we never done this before?
31:11Yeah, yeah, yeah.
31:11It was so nice.
31:12We got this...
31:13It's like a half time in a football game.
31:14You get to recap.
31:15I love what you did on that thing.
31:16Let's do that in the second.
31:16Smelling salts.
31:17Bit of a rub down.
31:19Two beers.
31:20Yeah, why not?
31:20Two shots.
31:21Especially if it's going really well.
31:22That's the problem.
31:23You've got to not celebrate though.
31:25It's only half time.
31:26We learned that on our warm-up run.
31:29Don't get too excited.
31:30You can't really win it in the second half, but you can lose it in the second half.
31:32Absolutely.
31:33Oh my gosh.
31:34I don't want to sew that suit.
31:35Don't blame this on me.
31:36No, no, no.
31:37We won't.
31:37We'll keep it together.
31:38But it's really cool.
31:39And then the second half of the show, we're going to do our sort of old friends, our almost
31:43hits.
31:43It's going to be like an hour.
31:45You're almost hits.
31:46Almost hits.
31:46You should have an almost greatest hits album.
31:48An almost greatest hits.
31:49But you don't need to, because I don't know if you know, but Jack's version is currently
31:53number one in the UK.
31:56Oh, Jack, Jack, Jack.
31:58Where was this new album?
31:59Where was it?
32:00Where was it?
32:01How was it born?
32:02Where did it come from?
32:03It was born out of, it's actually one of the few albums, first albums I've done in a
32:06long time without any preconceived concept, which sounds a bit clumsy, but in the past,
32:10I've sometimes protected the substance of what I'm saying in songs with style.
32:14It's a bit like if you feel like you're having imposter syndrome or you kind of don't
32:19feel like you may be up to scratch with what you're supposed to be doing, you dress it up a
32:22bit.
32:22And I've done that in the past.
32:23I've always, also to protect the substance.
32:26With this one, I was like, no style.
32:28We're going full substance.
32:29This is jeans and t-shirt album.
32:30It'll do what it does.
32:31And you no longer need to fear Olivia Dean because you're number one.
32:35Can we hear it for the current number one selling artist in the UK album chart?
32:41It's Jack Savarelli.
32:45Now, if I let's be asking, is Will McDonald still here?
32:48Will.
32:49Will.
32:51Will.
32:52Will.
32:52Will.
32:54Will.
32:54Will.
32:55Will.
32:56Will.
32:56He loves that.
32:57He doesn't hate it.
32:58All right, coming up now, Jack Savarelli.
33:00Please welcome Jack Savarelli with the Ocean Color scenes, The Day We Call A Trail.
33:06I never saw it as the start
33:09It's more a change of heart
33:14Wrapping on the windows
33:16Whisting down the chimney pots
33:20Blowing off the dust in the room where I forgot
33:23I laid my plans inside and dry
33:28Stepping through the door like a troubadour
33:30While I'm just an hour away
33:33Looking at the trees on the roadside
33:36Feeling it's a holiday
33:39You and I should ride the coast
33:42And wind up in our favorite coast
33:44Just find some way
33:47Roll a number
33:50Write another song
33:52Like Jimmy heard the day he caught the trail
33:56Whoa-oh-oh-la-la
33:59Whoa-oh-oh-la-la
34:01Whoa-oh-oh-la-la
34:04Whoa-oh-oh-oh-la
34:08Sipped another rum and coke
34:13Told a dirty joke
34:16Walking like a groucho
34:18Sucking on a number two
34:22Holding on the floor with the cigarette burns
34:25Walked in
34:26I'll miss the crush and I'm home again
34:30Hey!
34:30Stepping through the door with the night in store
34:33While I'm just an hour away
34:36Stepping to the sky in the star
34:38Bright feeling it's a brighter day
34:41Well, you and I should ride the coast
34:44And wind up in our favorite coast
34:46Just miles away
34:50Roll a number
34:52Write another song
34:55Like Jimmy heard the day he caught the trail
34:58Whoa-oh-oh-oh-la-la
35:01Whoa-oh-oh-la-la
35:04Whoa-oh-oh-la-la
35:06Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh
35:10You and I should ride the tracks
35:13And find ourselves just wading through to my roads
35:19You and I, we're not coming down
35:21We're only getting back
35:22And you know I feel that sorrow
35:25We've got the whole wide world, yes
35:29When you find the things are getting wild
35:32Don't you want days like these?
35:35When you find the things are getting wild
35:37Don't you want days like these?
35:40When you find the things are getting wild
35:43Don't you want days like these?
35:45Like these?
35:46Whoa-oh-oh-oh-la-la
35:49Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh-la
35:53Thank you so much
35:55All right, coming up next, India's biggest star
35:58Shrey Ghoshal's going to be here
36:00Performing Coldplay's big shoot
36:02It's going to be amazing
36:03But before that, first, more TFI going
36:08What's that been one, girl?
36:11Just keeps moving on to us
36:14We'll stand where the river bends
36:18I hope we fall in
36:21This time maybe
36:25Let's take a boat to block
36:28We'll burn all the negatives
36:31I hope we fall in
36:37We'll stand where the river bends
36:40This keeps moving on to us
36:43We'll stand where the river bends
36:47I hope we fall in
36:50This time maybe
36:56How great is that
36:57Sleeper sail of the century
36:59From back in the day
37:00TFI girl
37:01Our next guest
37:02A superstar singing sensation
37:04It doesn't get any bigger
37:05Than our next guest
37:05With over three and a half thousand songs
37:07Under her belt
37:08And hundreds of millions of fans
37:10Across the planet
37:11Her new album
37:12All Hearts Live Tour
37:13Is out now
37:14So let's say hello
37:15To our new pal
37:16It is
37:17Shreya Gishal
37:32You're so welcome
37:34You're so welcome
37:35Thank you
37:36Shreya Gishal
37:37You are gracing us
37:38With your presence
37:38Your band are here
37:39Tell us about
37:40Your latest tour to the UK
37:41What's been going on
37:42Yeah so we were here
37:44For our
37:44The Unstoppable Tour
37:46And we just finished
37:47Our London Auto Arena
37:50Which was our first
37:51For me as well
37:52Like the Auto Arena
37:53And it was a wonderful tour
37:55It started from
37:56Manchester, Birmingham
37:57And then London
37:58Okay was this like
37:59A taste tour
38:00Are you going to come back
38:01And do more dates
38:02You've got to
38:03Yes
38:04The response we're getting
38:05Just from you
38:06From when we said
38:07You were going to be on the show
38:08Oh my gosh
38:09And you've recorded
38:10Over three and a half thousand songs
38:12Yes
38:12I mean that's incredible
38:14Isn't it
38:14It's like
38:15It's something sort of
38:16You know
38:16Our sort of world
38:18Of rock and roll
38:18You know
38:19If the Beatles recorded
38:20Four hundred or five hundred
38:22You're three and a half thousand
38:23Oh no
38:24You're three thousand
38:25Ahead of the Beatles
38:26How does that feel
38:27Oh god no
38:27Nothing like that
38:28But I think it's just
38:29The amount of work
38:31That happens back in India
38:32Because it's not just
38:33Hindi
38:34Which is the main language
38:35Spoken
38:36There are so many
38:37Different regional
38:39Languages as well
38:40You've enjoyed
38:40Over twelve billion
38:42Downloads and streams
38:44And you have
38:45Like tens of millions
38:45Of followers
38:46On all the social medias
38:47Thirty four point one million
38:48Follows on Instagram
38:49What does that feel like
38:51To have that
38:51Sort of
38:52That quantity
38:53Of A
38:54Output
38:54B
38:55Love
38:55You know
38:56Clearly
38:57People absolutely
38:58Adore what you do
38:59Do you have to
39:00Sort of
39:01Can you
39:01How
39:02How does one deal
39:03With that
39:04Or do you just
39:04Is it
39:05Do you just have to
39:06Park it
39:07I suppose
39:08I don't think so much
39:09About this
39:10I mean if you start
39:11Thinking about
39:12How to manage
39:14Listeners
39:16Algorithms
39:16Social media
39:17Then I think the music
39:18Takes a back seat
39:19So I just focus on the music
39:21And everything follows
39:22Yeah
39:22That's easy
39:23But you have just said
39:24You have also said
39:25You know you look after
39:26Your fans
39:27There's literally more
39:28And more coming on board
39:30All the time
39:30Yeah
39:31And so
39:32You have to sort of
39:33You are aware of it
39:34Of course you're aware of it
39:35Yeah
39:35And you do engage with your fans
39:36I do
39:37But you have
39:39Four billion more
39:40Listens than there are
39:42People on the planet
39:43On the planet
39:44So where are they
39:45Listening to me from
39:46Mars
39:48Right you prepared
39:49Something very special
39:50For us tonight
39:51Can you tell us
39:52The story behind it
39:53Please
39:54Oh
39:56So when Coldplay
39:58Performed in
39:59Wembley in 2017
40:02We were there
40:02I think
40:04Me and my husband
40:06We have the most fondest
40:09Memory of being in that concert
40:10And we can't forget
40:13Those memories
40:14And then when finally
40:15Coldplay came to Mumbai
40:17And they played
40:18I was there again
40:19And I think
40:21Literally tears
40:22Streaming down your face
40:24It was true
40:25And
40:27It's special
40:28I think that song
40:29Has a lot of depth
40:30And a lot of meaning
40:31To not just me
40:32To many people
40:33It fixes their problems
40:35And their
40:36Their
40:37You know
40:38How to deal with loss
40:40Or how to deal with
40:41Issues of life
40:42So Fix You
40:43Is a special song
40:44And Coldplay
40:45They're just too amazing
40:46Alright now
40:47You've never met Chris Martin
40:48But you'd like to
40:49Yeah please
40:49Make it happen
40:50Is this
40:50Well you've got to make it
40:52Is this your love letter
40:53To Chris saying
40:54Please can we hook up
40:55Yeah
40:55Alright
40:56So
40:57So
40:57No
40:58No

41:02We need to get you
41:04To be best mates
41:05With Adele
41:05Yeah
41:06And collaborate
41:07With Chris Martin
41:08Yes
41:08Alright
41:09Okay
41:09Well let's see how this goes
41:10I'm sure it's going to be fine
41:11Alright
41:12You go and get yourself ready
41:13To perform
41:14Alright
41:15We've just about got time
41:16For this week's
41:17Star of the week
41:17Please welcome
41:18Super Max
41:19Yeah
41:21Hi Maxie
41:23Alright
41:23Tell everyone about yourself
41:24So my name is Max
41:26I have a lifelong condition
41:27Called osteogenesis
41:28Infecta
41:29Otherwise known as brittle bone disease
41:31Meaning that my bones are a lot more fragile than other people's
41:35I get a lot of chronic pain and fatigue daily
41:37And it means I have to use distraction techniques
41:40To kind of try and put the pain out of the picture
41:43So that I can focus on everyday life
41:45Such as
41:46I use fidget toys
41:48I do things like listening to audio books
41:51Playing a bit of Lego
41:52And coming on TV shows
41:54Coming on television shows
41:57Alright now you are supported by a charity
42:00And now you also support that charity
42:02Yep
42:02So the Brittle Bone Society
42:04Is a charity that has supported me
42:05Literally throughout my entire life
42:08From the moment I was diagnosed
42:10So they have helped with grants
42:12And funds
42:13And they've been there for me
42:14Whenever I needed them
42:15So I wanted to say
42:16A big thank you to them
42:17And I wanted to raise a bit of money for them
42:20So that they could
42:21Be able to help even more people
42:24So I did a sponsored bike ride
42:26Which was the length of 26.2 miles
42:29Equivalent to a marathon
42:30Wow
42:33So I rode that around my local area
42:35And after that
42:37I managed to raise £142,000

43:15When you try your best
43:18But you don't succeed
43:22When you get what you want
43:24But not what you need
43:29When you feel so tired
43:31But you can't sleep
43:35Stuck in rivers
43:42And the tears come streaming down your face
43:49When you lose something
43:51You can't replace
43:56When you lose someone
43:58But it goes to waste
44:01Could it be worse?
44:12Lights will guide you home
44:18And ignite your bones
44:25And I will try to fix you
44:32Like the
44:57Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah.
45:11Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah.
45:28Tears stream down your face
45:33When you lose something you cannot relish
45:41Tears stream down your face tonight
45:55Tears stream down your face
46:01I promise you I will learn from the mystics
46:08Tears stream down your face tonight
46:23Lights will come to home
