00:05For the first time, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science has introduced rules
00:10addressing the use of AI in films eligible for the 2027 Academy Awards.
00:16The new guidance does not ban artificial intelligence,
00:19but it makes clear that human creative authorship will remain central
00:24when members decide which films deserve nominations.
00:26The Academy says AI tools will neither help nor hurt a film's chance on their own.
00:34Instead, voters will consider how much of the work was driven by humans.
00:38In acting categories, only performances demonstrably carried out by human actors
00:43with their consent will be eligible.
00:45And in screenplay categories, the rule is even clearer.
00:49Script must be human authored to qualify.
00:52The change go beyond AI.
00:54The Academy is also reshaping the international film category,
00:57widening eligibility to include films that win major prizes at top festivals,
