In response to the question on why representing the Philippines still matters despite growing frustrations, Miss Universe Philippines 2026 Top 7 finalist Apriel Smith of Cebu City said she understands why many Filipinos feel disheartened because they deeply care about the country and know it deserves better. As an OFW herself, she shared that she experiences these frustrations too. Still, Apriel emphasized the importance of showing up—not only by sharing struggles, but by celebrating stories of hope, culture, and heritage. She said she is ready to represent Filipinos worldwide and believes the Philippine flag should always be raised because the country is worth believing in.
