00:00There's something really magical about bringing the old and the new together to create something
00:04that hasn't been seen before. Design rule number one is no more boring bathrooms. I always find
00:15that the bathroom is a perfect opportunity to disrupt a space. I feel like we just generally
00:19don't use enough tile in our interiors and so the bathroom is a great way to introduce this feature.
00:26We have options of different shapes and sizes, we can use natural stone and so many different textures
00:32that the bathroom is always a missed opportunity if it's not interesting enough. Design rule number
00:38two is to be ambitious. Your home is a perfect opportunity to make a statement about who you
00:45are and what matters to you. My third design rule is to be brave. I'm constantly telling my clients
00:50that if everybody likes everything in your home then you haven't been brave enough. We need to go
00:55back to the drawing board. This could be a piece of artwork or it could be a reference that has
01:00deep
01:00cultural meaning for you and gives you the opportunity to tell a story or share some knowledge.
01:07I think that including a controversial piece or two in your home is something that everybody
01:12should consider doing. It just really makes sure that your home is specifically built for you and
01:18not for anybody else. We want to make sure that you feel comfortable and you feel at home. Design rule
01:23number
01:23four is to remember that you're designing for the next moment and memory. A lot of the time while
01:29we're designing for ourselves in our home we forget that we're also creating a space for moments and
01:34memories with the people that we love the most and to do that we want to make them feel really
01:38comfortable, loved and poured into. Our home is the perfect opportunity to do that so make sure that
01:44you are incorporating a lot of personal references, photographs, imagery and things that just make you feel
01:51comfortable and at home. Design rule number five is I'm going to teach you how to use Pinterest. We
01:58don't want to use Pinterest to copy spaces that other people have designed. We want to use it to train
02:03our design eye and the only way that you can do that is to learn how to put language against
02:09the things
02:09that you love. Learn how to articulate what you love about a space and then you will be able to
02:14organically
02:15weave some of those concepts into your own home without copy and paste.
