00:08Health officials say the vaccine, which has been awaited for decades,
00:12is already showing strong results when administered correctly
00:15and alongside other malaria prevention tools.
00:19We have waited for this vaccine for the last three decades.
00:24When this vaccine is used in combination with the other tools that we have
00:30and when we use it at the right time before a rainy season
00:36and when we give the full doses, all-cause child mortality reduces.
00:43Cases decline by 70%. This is a huge impact.
00:47Cameroon's National Malaria Control Programme says about 60% of children received
00:52at least three doses of the vaccine in 2025.
00:55Officials add that efforts are now focused on improving uptake of the fourth dose
01:00by reminding parents and caregivers when children return for vaccination at age two.

01:16malaria vaccine in 2025.
01:18It is a vaccine that works quite well and is accepted by the population.
01:22Unfortunately for the children who had appointments for the fourth dose,
01:26we realized that on the ground the results were not good enough,
01:30so a strategy was implemented with the support of the expanded program on immunization.
01:35Therefore, a strategy was implemented to call parents and caregivers
01:38to remind them of the appointment for the fourth dose.
01:42According to the World Health Organization,
01:44approximately 70 to 72% of malaria-related deaths in Cameroon occur among children under the age of five.
