Transcript
00:00Stay right where you are.
00:02It's time to chase for real.
00:05Thanks so much for helping me out, Kelly.
00:07That's what friends are for.
00:09When the network sees this audition tape,
00:12there's no doubt they'll want me to be the host
00:14of their new cooking show.
00:17Make sure the footage makes me look really great.
00:19You know, gorgeous, talented, appealing.
00:22I'll get whatever you give.
00:28Good morning.
00:29Today, I'm going to show you
00:31how to make a yellow sponge cake.
00:33That'll be the highlight of any birthday party.
00:35It's been in my family for generations.
00:38Not only is it delicious, it's foolproof.
00:41Move on.
00:42The recipe calls for 12 egg yolks.
00:46Eleven.
00:49First, add two cups of sugar.
00:59Your measurement is off.
01:03Next, two cups of flour.
01:07You're adding too much flour.
01:10Our next ingredient requires the use of a teaspoon,
01:14which I don't have.
01:17Oh, but I do have a quarter teaspoon.
01:19To add two teaspoons of baking powder,
01:22I need to fill a quarter teaspoon eight times.
01:27While I'm doing this, I should just tell you a little bit about myself.
01:31I have a dog named Mojo, and my hobbies include biking, horseback riding, running, and camping.
01:40Are you keeping track of how much baking powder you're adding?
01:43I counted 12 quarter teaspoons.
01:47No more comets!
01:49Your job is to keep the camera rolling.
01:54And finally, a half a cup of water.
02:05In 30 minutes, my heavenly creation will be baked.
02:10The aroma is intoxicating.
02:12If only this were smell-o-vision.
02:19Oh, no!
02:21This is impossible!
02:23I wanted to make a birthday cake, not a pancake!
02:28Now my chances for hosting this show are ruined!
02:31Your oven must be broken, Kelly!
02:34And why are you taping me now?
02:37You told me my job was to keep the camera rolling.
02:40My oven's not the problem.
02:42I'll show you.
02:44Before we started taping, you didn't get out the measuring tools you needed.
02:48You used a coffee cup instead of a measuring cup, and then you overfilled it.
02:53Then you lost count when you were adding the baking powder with a quarter teaspoon.
02:59So, when you follow a recipe,
03:01adding too much or too little of anything will affect the result.
03:05Either too sweet or too dry, or in this case, too flat.
03:10Your oven must be broken, Kelly!
03:12And why are you taping me now?
03:13Oh, Kelly, I'm so sorry!
03:16I know you were stressed because you wanted the tape to be great.
03:19I'll redo it with you.
03:21Why don't I take you to lunch instead?
03:23Okay, as long as someone else is doing the cooking.
03:27No problem.
