1) Pie Maker Vanilla Slices

Makes: 8 | Prep: 15 minutes | Cook: 20 minutes.

Ingredients
1 cup caster sugar
1/2 cup custard powder
1/3 cup cornflour
3 cups milk
1 tsp vanilla essence
4 sheets frozen puff pastry, defrosted
Icing sugar, to serve.

Method
First, whisk the sugar, custard powder, and cornflour together in a saucepan. Add the milk and vanilla, then cook over low heat until the mixture thickens. Remove it and let it cool.

Preheat the pie maker. Cut 8 larger pastry bases and 8 slightly smaller tops from the puff pastry. Line the pie maker with the larger pastry circles, add about 1/3 cup of custard filling to each, then cover with the smaller pastry circles.

Cook for about 8 minutes, until golden. Repeat with the remaining pastry and filling. Let them cool, then dust with icing sugar before serving.

2) Quick Pie Maker Bread Rolls

Makes: 8 | The recipe is described as no-yeast, quick to throw together, and suited to when you are short on time or camping.

Ingredients
1 1/2 cups self-raising flour (225g)
1/3 cup milk, plus extra to brush
50g butter, melted
1 egg, lightly whisked.

Method
Put the flour in a bowl and season with salt. Make a well in the center, then add the milk, melted butter, and egg. Stir just until the dough comes together.

Turn it onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently until smooth. Divide into 8 pieces and shape each one into a roll.

Place 4 portions into the pie maker, flatten them slightly, and score a small cross on top. Cook for 10–12 minutes, brushing with milk halfway through, until cooked through. Repeat with the remaining dough and serve warm.
