01:12brain thank you he followed several celebrities as they entered a residential drug treatment center
01:17where the hell are we the result was an experience called celebrity rehab that experience revealed
01:23just how hard the road to recovery is you smuggled drugs into the place i said no i did not
01:30take it back
01:33you you you're not a participant you're just like us the joy that comes from a sober life and on
01:40the
01:40sober living i recommend it for you and i recommend it for you and guess what i recommend it for

01:47staying sober is a daily battle 93 of all inpatients stay sober then it dips to 10 when they transition
01:55to home so there's an intermediate stage that recovering addicts must get through they do this
02:01by moving into what we call a sober house at sober house addicts have one foot in treatment
02:06and one foot in the real world there will be boundaries and rules we must follow our tours there's
02:13like rules and we'll go through it together there will be chores for them to do they'll be required
02:17to get a job i can offer you ten dollars an hour we will have a curfew each night we're
02:23going to
02:23escort you all right do the show right i know i know the guidelines there's no sex no acting out
02:29violently with each other and of course no drugs or alcohol you need to not drink and not take drugs
02:36and you need to get your together got that that's it that's the bottom line
02:42the sober house is led by jennifer jimenez an accomplished actress who started the movies
02:47vanilla sky and blow she's also a recovering drug addict jen will have a tough job because she has to
02:54enforce the rules and help guide a house full of addicts who are just starting their recovery in the
03:00real world it's not my job to be their babysitter my job is to try and enforce the rules will
03:05who
03:05everybody knows from celebrity rehab is back he's the muscle of the house he backs up jen and keeps
03:11everyone in line bob forrest my head counselor and one of the biggest success stories in recovery himself
03:17will make regular visits to the house and actually run a group there these patients have to get used to
03:23the fact that they are now outpatients they're no longer under my continuous inpatient care but make
03:29no mistake they'll be seeing a lot of me i will be continuously in touch and supervising their care i
03:34will
03:34know if anything is going on in the silver house the stakes are high they'll want to party
03:52sadly they'll often relapse this is a junkie that's paranoid that throws this crap burnt tin foil in a
04:00crack light it's insanity at its greatest they will either slip back into the deadly cycle of
04:09addiction i'm drinking in first class see you soon okay i want to go home now just can't handle it
04:17yeah or they will move forward and enjoy the kind of life that each of them deserves a life that

04:24sober i'm doing this for me yeah but most of all you know i owe it to my kids because
04:29they
04:30they haven't had a chance to see me sober

04:45i'm so sorry i would just do that they will feel like jumping out of their skin
04:50i'm not so stupid like he thinks i am but ultimately they will come to the realization that they are
04:55entitled to a sober life
05:10it's day one of sober living and the patients are arriving from a month of rehab to check into the
05:16sober living house in the hollywood hills these patients have just completed 21 days of treatment
05:21the past new recovery center they've had a week to return home gather their belongings and see
05:26their loved ones and they are now returning to enroll for 30 days of ongoing care in a sober living
05:32environment here in hollywood so uh here we go i'm gonna check myself into the sober house
05:40it's the next chapter next chapter in the shifty saga you can take the long way over there i'm in

05:48hurry i'm nervous man i am nervous i shouldn't be because this is the part where i'm getting my
05:57life together but i am i'm nervous you know
06:03well that it goes from rehab to home they're not going to make it i mean there's very few that
06:07can
06:08you know i guess reality is setting them i don't have discipline i don't have structure i have nothing to
06:13even start with i don't know how to live sober you know i have no idea what i'm doing sober
06:19living is
06:20an environment where people go post rehab to live together with other addicts who are newly sober
06:26support each other and confront each other when you slip up the difference between celebrity rehab
06:32which is a residential treatment center and the sober house is people like me doctors are not around
06:36all the time they're not going to see me all the time and that's a shock for them as they
06:39begin to
06:40get some separation and autonomy the good thing about sober living on like rehab is you're kind
06:44of living in the real world and so i'm hoping that i'll be able to learn how to cope without
06:49using alcohol or drugs man i got dealers over here all i do is think about drinking every second of
06:59every
06:59day i've been sober for you know over 30 days now and i want to make sure that i can
07:06live the lifestyle
07:08that i want to live as far as my music is concerned without being high my drug addiction just started
07:15to skyrocket and i started doing what it took to get money for drugs and i became a high-end
07:22escort you
07:24know the title of one of the 50 sexiest women in the world by maxim magazine was now used to
07:29sell me
07:31so i got 22 days of being sober the fears i have is is relapsing 95 of people doing this
07:42through relapse and i don't want to be one of those 95 who do relapse i want to be able
07:49to say i'm one of the
07:50five percent we do make it and do succeed
08:08the hardest turn in my whole life
08:13amber smith from celebrity rehab 2 is a supermodel with long-term opiate addiction
08:19i started modeling at 15 years old i garnered about 300 international magazine covers and sports
08:26illustrated swimwear issues all the while i was heavily addicted to pills
08:34i've been addicted for 16 years straight i've never been off how'd you find the opiates

08:42um amber is a severe opiate addict opiate addiction has the highest relapse rate
08:50she has to take her sobriety seriously and be very diligent about establishing a sober life

09:31that you're already like moaning on that one everyone's gonna get chores we rotate every
09:36three days addicts aren't too fond of cleaning up after themselves making your beds and cleaning
09:41the toilets and you know doing everything else that the real world does this is a clean house
09:46it's a nice house yeah so we work together as a family you know no one wants their freedom
09:50curtailed i want my independence and i want to hit life sober but yet i've never been in sober living
09:56i've been in drug living
10:07seth pinzer was on celebrity rehab one seth readmitted to celebrity rehab two after a terrible relapse and
10:14ended up on our roof smoking crack you know the last year you know it's definitely been a
10:18challenge for me to overcome my dark relationship with that drug seth is a chronic relapsing
10:24stimulant addict for seth being so close to hollywood boulevard the nightclubs and the
10:29environments where he used to score there is danger just down the hill he has very high hopes to
10:35rekindle his life as a fuck get the trust of his wife and his son remains heartbroken my fear is
10:41that
10:41seth will not address some of these fundamental issues and he'll go out he'll relapse again
10:45and my ultimate fear is he will die i have lots of fears right now i mean i just kind
10:50of like a week
10:51or two of sobriety it's like the disease is still stronger than me at this point like i'm on shaky
10:55ground every move matters seth is a great guy he's all fun and games but i hope as he walks

11:02the doors of this sober living he takes his recovery seriously what come on let me in hi hi little

11:15how are you good to see you i know seth and i've known him for a few years and i
11:20know his addiction
11:21is really deep it's at a very serious point most of the people moving in here have a full 21

11:26of sobriety seth only has a few days he's pretty deep in it no sex no using my head of

11:34you use three times you're you're done three times yeah i know it's a nice little lenient there but i
11:39really wouldn't i'm going to try not to use it all okay sober houses have rules we have to have

11:45if not this house is going to go down quick we don't have sex we don't do drugs and we
11:51don't break
11:51the rules we have something here we call a strike board in my office if they break a rule they
11:57will
11:58get a strike and if they get three strikes they're out come on kiddo let me take it back up
12:09so i don't think rodney oh what a gorgeous transfer transfer is that your room uh-huh right here

12:27how like right here there's this line right all guys include and me can come in any girl comes in
12:33here it's like bound for trouble addicts don't do rules very well that's not their forte addicts
12:40will go in any angle and every way i try to change it through their way seth seth come out

13:16hanging out with someone like when you're in you're already asleep or something and see this
13:20i'm just i'm tight with my boundaries i know and i adore you enough to enforce them right

16:05i got back home from american idol and started doing a lot of cocaine my mother showed me how to
16:10do that this is a pivotal year in nikki's life with the one year anniversary of her mother's death
16:16approaching while she is living in the sober house this will be a watershed month for her this is a
16:21chance to get used to being a sober person in the world nikki in addition has the stress of being
16:27concerned about and worried about her children who are thousands of miles away while she focuses on
16:32her own sobriety we don't even listen here we really try to i'm gonna enforce that like that is
16:39a must like i've known a couple people recently i just died one mom died from drug and alcohol
16:45yeah so the one year anniversary of her death is going to be while i'm in here
16:50so that may be a really hard day for me we will walk you through it okay i know this
16:55is going to be a
16:56really emotional time for nikki i am here to help her in any way she needs
17:06hi mary mary kerry has joined us from season one celebrity rehab after season one mary kerry did
17:13enroll in sober living however for only a very short period of time since then she has struggled
17:18with her sobriety and i have wanted her to re-enroll in sober living as a result i invited her
17:24to join
17:24this patient group for 30 days of sober living it's time she got serious about her sobriety
17:32you want me some sex toys in that bag i know mary for some time now a lot of mary's

17:39this girl this you know whole character and really like you get to spend five minutes with mary you
17:46will fall in love with the real mary like there's this tender sweet soul
18:02one of the fascinating struggles to watch is to see her as mary ellen this young woman
18:07versus mary kerry who is this character she's created for herself and how she struggles with
18:12those two personas and how that's going to happen remains to be seen i'm so glad you're doing this

18:44coming up just got a call from janet the sober house and steven adler showed up with heroin
18:49with syringes probably loaded steven is going to die if this doesn't stop

19:20steven adler from celebrity rehab 2 is in the sober house and uh guns and roses invented sex drugs and
19:26rock and roll and if you want to know where that takes you steven adler is the poster child for
19:31that
19:34steven adler gave shelly and me and bob a very difficult time in treatment
19:38he has an extreme problem with authority jen will definitely have her hands full being an
19:43authority figure to steven in many ways he's just still like an 11 year old and really rebels against
19:48all authority for steven so many people in his life have really had it with his disease and if he
19:53is not able to sustain sobriety i'm not sure many of the people in his life would have him back

20:10oh my god so nervous and excited yeah yeah the minute steven walked in i knew he was high
20:24instantly addicts have a six cents you know if somebody's high or they're drunk you just do
20:30yeah this is the kitchen oh everyone's going to be assigned every three days you'll switch okay
20:37all right so like each person like say you'll get clean kitchen this is my house i want it to
20:43remain like this but that'll be my house it's your house too it's our house exactly and we respect
20:49those boundaries which is great i know you don't have to talk like i'm five i'm not talking to you
20:53like you're five there you are steven's emotions were like so up and down one minute he was sweet
20:59the next minute he was snotty a minute after that he was kind of loving there's way too many things
21:04going on with steven that i don't find stable so i'm going to go through your bags if you don't
21:09mind
21:09the first thing i have to do is search their bags once they get into the house and i am
21:15praying
21:16to god that there's no drugs or alcohol because it would be so disappointing if there was first
21:21day in the first thing i grab is is a pair of pants and i get needles
21:56it's day one in silver living and there's needles in my hands and i gotta search you really quick
22:09this is not have you used no i took my test okay i knew we had a big problem and
22:17the one thing i
22:18needed to do immediately was call will and i needed to do this calmly in order not to rile up

22:55i was hoping we were going to get through the first day without any trouble the minute i walked

23:33are so panicking no i saw it right when i looked at him i was so disappointed and hurt because

23:50in his shoes i checked all the stock oh there's heroin that's when he said he was smoking it
23:56that was a hit that's heroin smoking smell it smell it it's handling you know i'm going to go through
24:03all this stuff but i want to search him first because if he's got on him i'm sure i don't

24:07him to hide it somewhere and needles are not my favorite thing in the world i've had a boyfriend
24:12die of an overdose and smelling and holding my hand and stuff and it was just really intense

27:02One of the things I try not to do is call Dr. Drew unless it's an absolute emergency.
27:08But it's only day one, and I have a guy here wasted on heroin.

27:16Steven Adler's high as a kite, and I found needles in his pocket, and there's residue and heroin.

27:58He had just went out into the world with a good attitude, doing well, and here we are now using
28:04it again.
28:04And then, with him knowing we were going to check, I'm dying to know what he was thinking.
28:09Steven is going to die if this doesn't stop.
28:11It's just very simple.
28:14Jen and I were trying to deal with Steven as quietly as possible.
28:18We didn't want everybody in the house to know that he was on drugs, but you could tell.
28:22It was starting to spread through the house.
28:25That stomach hurts.
28:32So, wow.

28:37Yeah, he's throwing up.

28:42He did, he drank that shit a little bit, making my stomach hurt.
28:46As time passed, Steven was starting to become sicker and sicker from the heroin.

29:40After he found out I got in trouble, I busted, I did some shit, he probably went and finished
29:45whatever shit he had.

30:10Drew pulling up in the driveway was one of the greatest sights in the whole world.
30:15For me to be at that house, things had to be really bad.
30:18And so there I was, and indeed things were really bad.

30:26Oh, when he found the needles.
30:27After we talked on the phone, did you talk to him again or no?
30:29When he saw that, when I was pulling everything out, he was pulling everything for me out really
30:34fast.
30:34So he saw that you saw?

30:39And I saw it was needles.
30:40Of course.
30:41He said, oh, those are, these pants are 10 years old.
30:43I haven't worn them in 10 years.

31:35One of the interesting parts of being a treatment team that treats addicts is we disagree amongst
31:39ourselves.
31:40We can have differing ideas about how a certain situation ought to be approached, but we share
31:44our ideas with each other and reach a consensus.
31:46This is sober living.
31:47It's their life.
31:48They've got to decide to live it sober.
31:50We've got to get started somewhere.
31:52Because it's just day one, it's a hard call to send Stephen to the hospital.
31:56He only used once.
31:57He doesn't really need detox.
31:58And yet here he is in the house, intoxicated, having used in the house.
32:03So understandably, Jen wants him out.
32:05From my standpoint, if we find things on him, we get rid of them, on we go.
32:09I just think that coming in here and being high already coming in here.

32:16Like, Stephen was walking into a sober living house with drugs.

34:47That's why I asked Bob Forrest to come over and help me out.
