00:16My relationship with my body has been troubled. I can't hide from this. When I look in the mirror,
00:22I see somebody who is a survivor. I see a skinny kid with pretty bad acne. I went into high
00:31school
00:31consumed by anxiety. I just really want confidence. I would like to be able to say without any kind of
00:40reservation that I'm pretty. I wasn't able to show the real me, and now it's like a gift.
00:50There's a revolution happening in the world of beauty. Skin procedures and plastic surgery
00:56doesn't have to mean changing who you are. It's about becoming the best version of yourself.
01:01I'm Dr. Sheila Nazarian, a board-certified plastic surgeon. My philosophy is to deliver natural
01:08results to men and women to give them their confidence back. But cosmetic procedures are
01:13no longer limited to going under the knife. I'm Nurse Jamie, one of the world's top beauty and
01:19skin experts. The reason I've gained and maintained so many celebrity clients is because I'm able to
01:26achieve amazing results without ever picking up a scalpel. Whether it's surgical or not, our goal
01:35is for people to look in the mirror and feel good in their own skin.
01:47My relationship with my body has been fairly troubled my whole life.
01:55We all go out into the world looking for what we think we need and what we think we deserve.
02:02I believe that I was worthless. I was ugly. And I didn't deserve to be treated well. So I found
02:12somebody who filled in all of those qualities that I needed. And I could have predicted all of it
02:21looking back on it. When we got married a week later is when he hit me for the first time.
02:32I went through two years of hell after that. He told me that if I ever filed for divorce that
02:39he'd kill
02:40me. But I did it anyway. I took my last 40 bucks and filed for divorce. It's been a process
02:47since then
02:48learning how to take care of myself.
02:55I've been building self-confidence just block by block. One success here, I put another block on.
03:01A little success there, I put another block on. I still need to add a few bricks.
03:09Yeah, I know. When I look in the mirror, I see somebody who is a survivor. But at the same
03:17time,
03:18I see a face that has gone through so much. I would like to be able to say without any
03:25kind
03:25of reservation that I'm pretty. I mean, right now I can say, I'm pretty, but I have this thing. Or
03:33I'm
03:34pretty, but I have spots on my face. And I'd like to just be able to say, I'm pretty. And
03:42put a period
03:42on the end of that sentence. I like that. That'd be awesome.
03:52So I've got a reunion coming up. Have you ever gone to your class reunions? I went to my 10
03:58-year
03:58high school reunion, and I was the only one of, like, 250 people that was married and had children.
04:03I know. Everybody else was, like, living their best life. I am always working, so I've always
04:09missed mine, so. Yeah, I think yours would be, like, super interesting. Right? I won the Grease Pig
04:14contest when I was in 4-H. I don't even think they do that anymore. I don't even know what
04:19that is.
04:19Well, there's a Grease Pig, and you run around, and you catch it, and you put it in a bucket.
04:24It's terrible.
04:26Hi. Look at the glasses. How are you? Welcome. Hi. Nice to meet you. Love the glasses. Oh, thank you.
04:35They're one of my things. I've got probably 30 different pairs. Wow. Because they're a fashion
04:40statement. They are. So what brings you here? Well, these days, I've got this loose skin. This
04:46all used to be nice and plump and round and full, and now it's not. I call it my waggle
04:51because that's
04:52what it does. Oh, yeah. And I'm okay with my body because I used to wear a 22, 24, and
04:58now I'm down
04:59to, like, a 14, and I'm happy with that. Right. You know, I'm nice and average like every other American
05:03woman who wears a size 14. Yeah, great. But from here up, there's no hiding this, and I've learned,
05:11you know, you take your selfies, and you tip your head up, and you do this, so you don't, you
05:15know,
05:16I'm like, I love it. You know? Whatever we're projecting out there, people read it in a certain
05:20way, and really they don't know what has happened to us, but I think you're at the point right now
05:25where you're ready to, you know, move on to a new story. I just want to know what does that
05:29look like
05:29for you? Are you in a relationship? What are you hoping for? I haven't dated at all because I suck
05:35at it. I do, too. I'm horrible. I suck at it. Oh, do I want to date again? Oh, boy.
05:44That's a tough one.
05:46It would be a really magical thing to have a partner, whether that means I date a woman
05:54or I date a man because life's too short. We want to help you, and we want to be your
06:00beauty heroes.
06:02Yay. Yeah, we want to help get your mojo back. We want, yeah, we want you. I don't think I
06:07ever had
06:08any mojo to begin with. Well, let's find it. Let's find it because it's great when you have it.
06:13We'll put a plan together for you. Get your, you know, this up that you said you can't hide in
06:17harmony,
06:18looking refreshed, looking beautiful, so that you can go out there confidently into a new relationship.
06:23whatever it might be into life. I'm very grateful, so thank you.
06:27I can't wait. I can't wait to hear it. Yeah.
06:34I know you're seeing what I'm seeing, and it's not just the neck that needs to be addressed. So
06:39what do you think? I think it's just like adding harmony and balance to everything. And the thing is,
06:44like, I want her to find her mojo. She needs that. So if I were to take her to my
06:49laboratory,
06:49what I would do, I would start by adding volume in and around the eye area, lift her jawline with
06:56sugar threads, laser resurfacing to take away that sun damage, and an overall softening and tightening
07:03of the entire face and neck. There would be an end point to what I could do non-surgically.
07:08Yeah. I think for this, it's going to require surgical intervention. If she's not open to it,
07:13I've got her. Yeah. We're going to be her beauty heroes either way. You know,
07:17I always leave surgery as a last resort, but in her case, I think she's going to get her best
07:22result surgically. At 64 years old, yes, there are certainly things I can do to make some improvement
07:29non-surgically. But if I want to get a home run and really get that neck lifted, there's nothing
07:36other than surgery that's going to get me there. If I just treat the lower face, then people are going
07:40to be like, your lower face looks this age and your upper face looks this age. So I think in
07:45order to
07:45kind of make everything make sense, we have to address the eyes. Here are the procedures I would
07:50perform on Kate. An upper eyelid surgery, a lower eyelid surgery, an upper lip lift,
07:56and a V-lift, which is a combination of a facelift and fat transfer to the face. Everything has to
08:03be in harmony. Everything has to make sense. And that's how you get a natural result. I hope she's
08:08open to it. I think she might be. I think she's ready to hit the reset button. I have Kate
08:14back from
08:15her scan. Hi, welcome back. How are you? Same chair? Yes. Yes. We have a hashtag epic plan for you.
08:24I think you're going to be really excited. How do you feel about surgery? Uh, well,
08:29I don't want anything really extensive. Okay, but what I will tell you is if this is the number one
08:37thing that's bothering you, nothing minor is going to get rid of that. I'm sorry. We're all about
08:42honesty and we're all about expectations. We can always do the non-surgical things and get you some
08:47improvement, but I know what you're thinking. And honestly, nothing's going to get you there other
08:53than surgery. And it's going to get you there beautifully, quickly. And trust me, surgery is a
08:58last resort for everyone in my practice. Well, I figured it was going to involve surgery because
09:03there really isn't anything you can do to this. Yeah. Is it okay if I sort of approach you and
09:07go over
09:08a plan? Yes, please. Just think of this as an education. And you can say, you know what,
09:12that matters to me. That doesn't. Oh, I didn't even know that was possible. And we'll just go
09:15through it one by one. So close your eyes for me. Don't raise your eyebrows. There you go. Now open
09:22your eyes and don't blink. All that skin needs to go. And the reason why you're raising your eyebrows so
09:28much is literally your brain is telling them to do that so you can see. So I can see.
09:34Number two is the lower lids. I want you to look refreshed. And I want to take those bags down
09:40a touch. I'm not saying they're going to be gone completely. But if we don't address it now,
09:45they're just going to get bigger. And I want to kind of put the pause button on it. Okay. The
09:50last
09:50thing that I want to tell you about before we get into what you don't want to hear is the
09:54upper lip.
09:54So don't smile for me and just open your mouth slightly like this. Okay. Do you see your upper teeth?
09:58Barely. So you want like a two to three millimeter tooth show. Okay. And what starts to happen,
10:04especially in Caucasian women, is as you, you know, get older, the distance between your nose and your
10:10upper lip gets longer and your lip curls under. So people think they should, you know, put volume in
10:16it, volume, volume, volume. And they end up looking like, you know, net so. So if you can imagine that
10:22I just remove a small strip of skin right under your nose, there you are. There's your lip. Welcome back.
10:27And that's where it used to be, by the way. Yeah. The last thing I want to talk to you
10:31about is what
10:31I call a V lift in my practice, which is a lower facelift, but also a fat transfer into the
10:37areas
10:37where you need volume. So you do have a little bit of volume here that I want to use to,
10:43you know,
10:43fill out your temples a little bit, fill out your lips a little bit. And if I don't address that,
10:47that's when people look pulled and crazy and not natural. Yeah, I do not want to look like that.
10:52No, we don't even do that. Not even if you wanted it. It sounds like a lot, but what I
10:56want you to
10:56think is that I'm just sprinkling your face with little tweaks. A little surgical fairy dust.
11:02A little, yeah, exactly. A little surgical fairy dust. And the result is going to be you,
11:07right. But refreshed. Me, but better and looking good, really good for my age. Healthy. Yeah. Okay.
11:13Well, that's, that's a lot more than I had thought about. But then again, the top and the bottom's got
11:17to match. Exactly. So it's going to be amazing. Yeah. We just want to help you hit the reset button
11:23and just give you a fresh start. Yeah. I tried to turn the knob at the back of my head,
11:28but it's broken.
11:28It's broken. I'll fix the knob. No.
11:36Come in. Morning. Hi. How are you?
11:43I know it's, it's nerve wracking and that's totally normal. The most difficult part about
11:48Kate's surgery is not the actual surgery itself. It's being able to look at the face and diagnose
11:53it correctly and make it all make sense together. Give facial harmony and give an overall rejuvenated
11:58appearance. So I'm just going to grab my stuff to get drawing on you. But I've had the proper
12:05training, not just in residency, but honestly, since I was a kid. My mom, when I was younger,
12:10used to call me, which means an expert in useless things. Like I used to take duct tape and make
12:17my own
12:17suitcases. And I used to make these art projects myself. And she's like, what are you doing? Like,
12:21go dribble a ball outside. But all of those things I think really just like train me to be
12:26the plastic surgeon I am today.
12:31Being crafty, having that artistic eye is a huge help. And I love applying it to cases like Kate's.
12:45I have been really, really mean to myself for a lot of my life, calling myself fat and ugly.
12:53And now that I've learned better, this is the opportunity to give myself a gift, a kindness.
13:04And I can't wait to be able to do that.
13:11All right, time out. It's 1229. Consent to facelift, neck lift, liposuction of the neck,
13:16accutites of the smile lines and marionette, bilateral upper and lower blepharoplasty and upper lip lift.
13:22She got ANSEF? Yes. Sterility's been confirmed. Thank you. You're welcome.
13:28So right now we're doing an upper blepharoplasty or an upper eyelid surgery.
13:32Really quick, usually done in my office awake, not just under local anesthesia.
13:37People always think I'm so close to their eyeball, but I'm nowhere near it.
13:42This is the excess skin that was taken off of this eye.
13:45So during upper eyelid surgery, typically I will remove some skin, very minimal fat.
13:51You never want to make somebody look hollowed out because that ages them.
13:54When I tie the suture down, you're going to see her lashes curl up. And that's how I know
13:59I've taken out the right amount. And that incision, the scar will go straight into her own crease.
14:05So we're going to cover that eye so it doesn't get dried out.
14:08And we're going to start on the lower lip. Okay, fresh knife bleeds.
14:14Basically, this is the fat pad underneath the eye that makes you look like you have bags under your eyes.
14:18So I'm just going to remove a tiny bit. If I push on the eyeball, it kind of tells me
14:23what fat wants
14:24to come out. And that's going to make her really look a lot better and less tired.
14:28So you can see how much flatter she is now on this side versus what she used to be.
14:35Knife. Now I'm doing the upper lip lift. So I'm taking a strip of
14:40skin out from right under the patient's nose. It kind of is in the shape of a mustache.
14:46It's going to bring her lip up and out and look kind of pouty and young.
14:50And it will feel a little bit stiff for about a month. But then it softens up and looks really
14:55nice.
14:57A few more sutures on this and then we're off to facelift land.
15:06Facelifts have come a long way since the last 20, even 10 years. Before they used to just pull the
15:14skin,
15:15resulting in a really windswept, unnatural appearance. But today we're actually tightening
15:20the muscle underneath and not relying on the skin to give a tight appearance. When you tighten the
15:26muscle and just lay the skin over it, you're going to look much more natural.
15:31There's like such a stigma still. I don't get it. Yeah.
15:35Yeah. Well, the only reason why people call it facelift versus neck lift
15:40is so they can tell their girlfriends they only have their neck lifted, not their whole face.
15:44It's the only difference between a facelift and a neck lift. Connotation.
15:48There is nothing wrong with aging. Aging means wisdom. It means feeling more comfortable with yourself.
15:54Right now I'm separating the skin from the underlying tissues.
15:59Getting a facelift is no longer about looking 20 years younger. It's really about looking healthy
16:05and refreshed, looking like you've been taking care of yourself.
16:09You can see if we just re-drape it back, all of that needs to come out.
16:15Coming out of a V-lift, yes, you're going to look like you just got out of a boxing match.
16:20So it's all about being in constant communication. I give every single one of my patients myself
16:24a phone number. If you have any questions, text it to me and I will let you know what to
16:28do.
16:29Her neck already looks better. You can see it's going to be life-changing.
16:37Let's get the light on me again and let's start sewing her up.
16:42Well, good morning everybody. This is day number two. I've been told that I look pretty good. But,
16:49uh, you know, you should see the other guy. This is day three. I get to go home today after
16:57a shower,
16:57which is even better. Anyway, Dr. Nazarian came by last night. She said I'm doing really great. She's got
17:03excited about putting some fat in my wrinkly earlobes, which I kind of got excited about too,
17:08because that means I'm going to wear earrings. I can wear earrings again. Oh, good morning everybody.
17:12I'm looking pretty good, I think, for day four. A lot of the swelling has gone down and, uh, pain
17:18levels manageable. Um, and, uh, you know, I'm, I'm, my kitties missed me. One, one of my cats took one
17:26look at me last night and ran away. No, he really did. He ran away. Oh, well.
17:39I don't generally look at myself that much. That's why it's sort of weird to be looking
17:46in the mirror right now. I see a skinny kid with pretty bad acne.
17:56I went into high school being very insecure. I transferred schools from a tiny Christian school
18:03to a big public school. They often looked at people more for their outward appearance instead of who
18:10they really were. Every day I would just be consumed by anxiety, by what other people thought of me.
18:18I think because I was so nervous, it would actually make my acne worse because I'd be sweating all the
18:24time, which would lead to more acne, so. I would try all these different creams and scrubs and my mom
18:32used to say, here, take a needle and you'll like poke the pimple and it'll explode. My dad would be
18:38like,
18:38don't do any of that. It destroyed all my self-confidence. I'm going to college next year and the thought
18:47of going into it with a clear face just makes it that much better. I just really want confidence
18:54going into this new chapter in my life.
19:06So, what do you think about Trevor? I'm super excited about him because I think it's really
19:13important to address body image on a young man. And it's changing and I'm really happy about his
19:21generation that it's different now. It's more acceptable. Totally. I know you had some acne.
19:28I did. I actually took two rounds of Accutane, so. I was actually older. I was like 28.
19:33Mm-hmm. So, it was just like a year ago or so.
19:39Perpetual. I know.
19:40You're so cute.
19:42Hey, how's it going?
19:43How are you?
19:44Heard a lot.
19:45Hey.
19:46Good to see you.
19:47You were tall.
19:48I know.
19:48We're usually towering over everybody.
19:50How's it going?
19:52It's going.
19:53I'm excited to get started on this thing.
19:55Give us a little background on it.
19:56So, I've been suffering or suffering relatively from acne for I think like six years. It's only
20:04gotten progressively worse. I've tried like every single acne treatment under the sun pretty much.
20:09What things have you tried?
20:11I've tried creams. I've tried scrubs, pills.
20:16What different pills or medications have you tried?
20:18The one pill that I took, I would take it and I would just feel nauseous for like two or
20:22three hours.
20:23It was just such a pain, especially in school when I was trying to focus in class and I was
20:27feeling terrible. I just couldn't take it anymore. I couldn't deal with it.
20:31You've always been this lean. So, are you a super clean eater?
20:34My dad's a vegetarian, so I end up eating pretty healthfully most of the time.
20:38Mm-hmm.
20:38Where do you think you got the acne from? Do any of your other family members?
20:41It's my dad. My dad, I think, had worse acne than me. I've seen pictures.
20:46It's pretty bad.
20:47And when did it clear for your dad?
20:49Uh, he, like, 25.
20:51Oh, wow.
20:52It took him forever.
20:53So, yeah, that's the thing. It is sometimes like an enigma,
20:55and especially when it's genetic like that.
20:57But there's so many things that we can do to make it better.
20:59I used to trouble myself so much with, like, what am I doing?
21:02Yeah, what is causing this acne?
21:04Yeah.
21:04And I, like, I tried so hard to figure it out.
21:07Eventually, I was just like, I can't take it anymore.
21:10Yeah. So what we're gonna do now is we're gonna send you off to get some pictures taken,
21:14some scans done, and then we're gonna kind of put our heads together and come up with a really great
21:19plan for you.
21:20You got the clear mind already. We're gonna get the clear skin to match.
21:23All right. Thank you very much.
21:24Okay.
21:25See you later.
21:25Bye. See you soon.
21:26Bye.
21:27So cute.
21:27Adorable.
21:34This is gonna be tough, but, you know, my whole approach to things is focus on stopping the
21:41breakouts first and then sort of shift focus to fixing the aftermath.
21:46Yeah.
21:46What do you think?
21:47I mean, I guess my approach would be similar.
21:52The thing that I would want to do is look at his diet, figuring out what the triggers are.
21:57And there's really good studies now that show that your diet actually is linked to acne.
22:01Right.
22:01I remember our parents would tell us, eat the head of the prune, you're gonna get a zit that looks
22:05exactly like it. Persian culture. Like, these are little things I heard all the time.
22:11Acne. Oh, my gosh. Yeah. Acne can take anywhere from two months, two years, to a lifetime to treat.
22:18So for my extreme acne patients, I like to start with an inside-out plan.
22:22First, I would put Trevor on an anti-inflammatory diet. Cut out some of those triggers,
22:28such as sugar and dairy. Then we're gonna put him on an oral antibiotic. And this helps to reduce
22:33acne-causing bacteria in the skin. And I want to know what pill made him nauseous,
22:38because getting him on some kind of an oral medication, I think, would work. He said he's
22:44tried everything, but really he's not tried very much. Along with the antibiotic, we're also going
22:51to be doing a series of facials to clean out his pores and get rid of some of that bacteria.
22:57Then we're going to be doing laser resurfacing, which is going to help kill active bacteria,
23:02soften the acne scars, and to also shrink the pores so he's less likely to get breakouts in the future.
23:08Finally, I'm going to use some microneedling to spot treat some of those deeper acne scars.
23:14Well, I just want to make it better. Yeah.
23:17And I can easily make it better. Mm-hmm. I agree.
23:20Treating acne is actually pretty complicated, and I do think it's important that one person take
23:25the lead from start to finish. And in this case, I think Nurse Jamie should take Trevor.
23:30Yeah, just sort of throw the kitchen sink at him, see what sticks, and go from there.
23:35Ladies, Trevor's back. Hey, welcome back.
23:39So do we have a plan for you? Mm-hmm.
23:41Yeah. Let's hear about it.
23:42So I think it was really interesting that you said, you know, I've tried everything,
23:45but then when we sort of started talking about it a little bit, you really haven't tried everything.
23:49There's so many, like, cool technologies out there, um, that I didn't hear you bring up.
23:54It was sort of like some creams and some pills, and I sort of gave up.
23:57I'm going to take you, and I want to work with some of the diet, and then getting this redness
24:02down.
24:02Yeah. And I have a laser that works on killing
24:04that active bacteria, but it also takes down a lot of that redness.
24:08All right. I'm excited.
24:09It's all about restoring balance and figuring out why your skin is so reactive and getting so inflamed.
24:14So we want to address those things. You might, um, get a little bit worse before you get better.
24:21Mm-hmm.
24:21I don't want you to, you know, be disappointed at the end of it if you still have some scarring.
24:25So we just want you to know we're in it with you. You're in great hands,
24:29and we're just going to get you ready for college, you know?
24:32Yeah, I'm dedicated to getting better.
24:34You do have so many things going for you. I mean, you have the height.
24:37So many guys would die for that. You have a ton of hair, and you've got great structure.
24:41Yeah. Thank you.
24:42Great smile.
24:42Got all the other stuff going for you. We're just sort of trying to, you know, fix this one thing.
24:47Yeah, I'm excited.
24:48Yeah, me too.
24:56Hey, hey.
24:57Hey. How's it going?
24:58It's going good. How are you doing?
25:00I'm great.
25:01Yeah? You're so tall. There you are.
25:03Good to see you.
25:04Good to see you, too.
25:05Wow, it's looking a lot better.
25:06I know.
25:07Look at that. It's all clear up there.
25:09I know, I know.
25:09I mean, I've been doing the cream and the pills, so, I mean, I would hope it looks better.
25:14It does. You're like, oh, I'm doing stuff.
25:18With extreme acne like Trevor has, I typically like the patients to start on some sort of an
25:24oral medication on top of a clean diet before we do any treatments.
25:29It does look better. We're making progress.
25:31Yeah.
25:31The inflammation on Trevor's face has gone down significantly, so this means today I can go in
25:37and really start working on cleaning up that active bacteria.
25:40Today, I want to really kind of clean out your skin, so we're going to do a facial
25:44with the Jeneo machine, and then I'm going to apply a mask, which will help to draw out
25:50all of the impurities, and so I don't have to do as many extractions.
25:54I trust you.
25:55Let's do it.
25:57First up is the Jeneo facial. I like to call this the next generation facial.
26:02It creates carbon dioxide bubbles on the skin, which trick the skin into producing more oxygen,
26:08skin, and oxygenated skin is healthier skin. So we're infusing product in the skin as well,
26:14because a lot of people with acne, they're afraid to moisturize because they think it's going to add
26:19oil, but you have to keep the skin moisturized. Otherwise, if you get the tiniest bit of bacteria,
26:23it gets trapped in there, and it just creates this vicious cycle.
26:28Next up is gold. The gold facial is one of my favorites.
26:32Looks like peanut butter.
26:33Looks like gold.
26:35Oh my god, I can see the gold.
26:37A lot of people don't know this, but gold actually has anti-inflammatory properties,
26:43and it helps to stimulate cells and improve blood circulation.
26:47I'm starting to feel it hardened.
26:49Yeah, it's going to help pull out some of these impurities.
26:51I personally love gold. Gold rings, gold necklaces, gold facials.
26:56I even named my daughter Goldie. I really did. Ready?
27:03Oh, that looks so much cleaner and fresher. How do you feel?
27:07I definitely feel something.
27:09With the pores open, I'm going to extract as much gunk out of there as possible.
27:14Everyone pops their pimples at home, I know, but I have a two-strike attempted.
27:20Yeah, a lot of these have been in there for a long,
27:23and I had these huge undergrounders, these big cystic nodules pop out.
27:27And it sounds so silly, but it really does affect you.
27:32Thinking, you're looking at that zit on my face.
27:35I need to see if my concealer's still covering it.
27:37It literally drove me to crazy town, last house on the left.
27:41For me, a combination of medication to balance out my hormones and a ton of lasers really helped.
27:47So now I'm going to calm everything down with some cryogen.
27:50It's going to be happy. You're going to like this one, I promise.
27:55Cryogen is actually vaporized nitrogen. This helps to reduce redness and pore size.
28:01This looks weird.
28:03This is weird.
28:04Are you vacuuming me?
28:05No, it's cryogen.
28:07Do you feel how cold it is?
28:10Cryogen temperatures can range between 200 and 300 degrees below Fahrenheit.
28:15It's over. The torture's over.
28:17Yay.
28:18I want you to keep moisturizing and wear a hat or sunscreen if you're going to be at the beach.
28:24You should always be good about the sun, but particularly when you're doing this therapy.
28:29Okay.
28:30I'm happy with everything.
28:31More moisturizer, face cream, pills.
28:41I'll be continuing to do laser treatments and medical facials on Trevor for the next several
28:47weeks until the active bacteria subsides.
28:51I just finished one of my two daily acne routines, and I have to say it's moving a little bit
29:01slowly.
29:01Like, it's clear that it has gotten better, but I kind of expected it to have cleared up a bit
29:07more by now.
29:08So if it keeps going at this rate, I don't know, it's just going to take a very long time
29:13to get cured.
29:19Well, howdy, everybody. It's day 35, and Dr. Nazarian recommended that I buy myself a new piece of equipment, and
29:29that is not what it's for.
29:31Get your mind out of the gutter.
29:32What she suggested that I do with this is use it to massage the areas on my neck that are
29:38swollen.
29:39So this is supposed to help get the swelling to go down, so that is how I'm spending my Sunday
29:45night.
29:45Y'all have a good one, and get your minds out of the gutter.
29:55Hello, Kate.
29:56Hello.
29:56Oh, my God.
29:57You look amazing.
29:59Give me a hug.
30:00I can see you.
30:01Wow.
30:02It's all because of you.
30:03Aww.
30:04As I explained to you before, doing a V-lift is not going to change the quality of your skin.
30:10So in order to keep your results going for as long as possible, we need to get a little bit
30:14more collagen into your skin.
30:16Okay.
30:16So we're going to be using the Morpheus 8, which is microneedling with radiofrequency in the needles.
30:21And so microneedling alone is just needles.
30:24And so your body thinks it's injured, so it's going to send in some collagen.
30:27But the microneedling radiofrequency is the needles, but then a little zap.
30:32Yeah, at the end of the needles.
30:34So it's kind of like doubling down on the collagen and the elastin.
30:38It could be a little bit more tender along the bone.
30:40Okay, I got it.
30:42I did that.
30:42Yeah, then you are.
30:43It's nothing as bad as that, so you're going to be fine, okay?
30:48So this is what the needles look like.
30:51Ooh, look at the nose going deep.
30:52Yeah, they do.
30:53Oh, God.
30:54That's why you numbed.
30:55Oh, God.
30:56Yeah.
30:57How's that?
30:58Good.
30:59I can't feel it.
31:00Good.
31:00See, it's not terrible, even though it looks like it's going to be super scary.
31:04After the surgery, it hurt a lot, and I wasn't sure that I'd done the right thing.
31:09I was a little scared that I may have made a mistake.
31:12Owie.
31:13That's where you're sensitive, because that's where your bumpies are.
31:15Yes.
31:16But now that I'm past all of that, I'm really glad I did it.
31:21I've done this actually to my own stomach.
31:23Yeah?
31:24Yeah.
31:24This is me being brave.
31:26Yeah, be brave.
31:28Every day after the surgery and all the bruises started fading, I saw something different every
31:34day, something positive that I could just stand in the mirror and go, wow, that's awesome.
31:39And I did.
31:40I did that a lot.
31:42The finish line is in sight, and I can't wait to see the full effect.
31:46This is just going to keep getting better and better for the next three to six months.
31:50But after any surgery, I would say you're fully, fully healed at about a year to a year and a
31:55half.
31:55I couldn't be happier.
31:56This has been amazing.
31:57For me too.
31:58Yeah.
31:58I'm probably going to cry.
31:59Oh, don't cry.
32:00Bye.
32:01Thank you so much.
32:02Aw, you're welcome.
32:04My pleasure.
32:10The treatment is definitely working.
32:12You can tell it's gotten much less red and just like near my eyes.
32:18And down here, it's gotten much better.
32:20And it was really, it was almost gone for a minute there.
32:24And then this week, I had like three exams or something.
32:28So I think my, my stress could have made the acne a little bit worse.
32:34But yep, that's where I'm at.
32:38Hey.
32:39Hey, hey, look who's here.
32:41How's it going?
32:41So as you can see, acne has cleared up quite a bit.
32:44I really wish you had seen it last week.
32:46Oh my gosh.
32:47It was really good.
32:47And then I had a few exams this week.
32:50And I think maybe the stress caused a little bit of a breakout again.
32:53I think stress, stress is a big trigger because it messes with our hormones.
32:57And you know, you just have to find some coping mechanisms because it is an inflammatory reaction.
33:03If we keep making progress, then even if we have tiny setbacks, it won't be as big of a deal.
33:08But it's definitely better.
33:09Trevor's acne is so stubborn.
33:12He's developed some pretty intense acne scars.
33:15My first line of defense and treatment of this is laser resurfacing and microneedling.
33:20I can show you this one before.
33:21It's very small.
33:22As needles?
33:23Yeah.
33:24When I push down on this, the needle kind of comes out.
33:26Wait, don't show it.
33:27Okay, okay, okay.
33:30Microneedling with radiofrequency is great for acne scars
33:33because it can reduce pore size and improve the texture of the skin.
33:38I can sort of feel the needles.
33:40See?
33:41Yeah, you're okay.
33:42All right, so I'm going to put these goggles on you.
33:44Last but certainly not least, I'm going to use a fractional skin resurfacing laser.
33:49How do I look?
33:50Super cool.
33:52This laser works by making tiny little punctures under the skin to minimize scars and help kill active bacteria.
34:01Killing all that bacteria.
34:03Die, you bastard.
34:06You're doing so good.
34:09Yay.
34:09I'd give you a lollipop, but it's bad for your skin, so no lollipops.
34:16Just finished my acne routine.
34:18Although it is working to some degree, you know, it's going to take a while for this to get cured,
34:23so that's where I'm at.
34:27I have seen a bit of a difference in my face.
34:32I've been taking the pills and using both creams every day.
34:36It does seem to be getting redder, but, you know, as nurse Jamie said,
34:40it's supposed to get worse before it gets better, right?
34:43So it's just what I'm hoping for.
34:48Trevor's skin is responding just the way I wanted it to, slowly starting to fade.
34:54And it's only going to get better in time.
34:56Seeing the progress that I've made, and especially in the last couple of weeks,
34:59it makes me feel very hopeful about the future.
35:01Especially seeing my face clear up, it makes me very excited.
35:06It's been fun working with Trevor.
35:08I'm really proud of his progress.
35:09He's following routine.
35:10He's using products.
35:11My hope for Trevor is that when he looks in the mirror,
35:14that he sees clear skin and a lot of potential.
35:27I didn't think I could look any better, but oh my god, I do.
35:33Before when I looked in the mirror, I saw, you know, a pepperoni-based Trevor.
35:39And now when I look in the mirror, there's almost no scarring,
35:42and the acne is super reduced.
35:44It's almost gone.
35:49To see a clean-faced kid, which I thought I would never see again, honestly.
35:54Going through this process has definitely helped me.
35:57I've realized that acne is more than just putting cream on.
36:02Acne is affected by, like, every single aspect of your life.
36:06Going through Nurse Jamie's whole process really makes you realize, like,
36:10how much there is out there to help people and how much crazy technology can help with acne.
36:16I had gold on my face.
36:18I mean, who would not want that?
36:22I'm most excited for starting college next year and for the social scene, parties and everything,
36:27of course.
36:28I'd like to thank Nurse Jamie.
36:30She's changed the way I look for the rest of my life.
36:33And she's changed it definitely for the better.
36:50When Kate looks in the mirror, I hope she starts to look in the mirror.
36:54This is a woman who has been avoiding mirrors for a very long time.
37:01I hope that this next chapter in her life is the best one yet.
37:19Every time I look in the mirror, it's like a gift.
37:21I'm still just gobsmacked about the whole thing.
37:25It looks so different.
37:28And yet, I'm still me.
37:31I really love the changes, starting with, of course, getting rid of my waggle.
37:38I feel like the biggest thing where my eye goes first.
37:41I see that and I see, whoa, it's gone.
37:48And then I can move up my face and I can see my pretty little top lip that I like.
37:53And then I'm just amazed at how much bigger and bluer my eyes look.
37:59I couldn't be happier.
38:03This whole thing, it's like it peeled a layer off of me.
38:07I'm considerably more courageous, so I'm going to explore.
38:12I'm going to try and focus on being a lot more open toward the possibilities of dating anyone.
38:18You have a great smile.
38:21I want to know who I am as much as I can, as deeply as I can.
38:25Before it's time for me to leave the earth, I want to know who I am.
38:29This whole experience has taught me a lot of things.
38:33But the most important things that it's taught me is to do what scares you
38:38and to be willing to take risks because without risk, there's no reward.
38:47I wasn't able to show the real me and now I can stand here and be real and it's
38:54every day I'm just amazed.
38:59Dr. Nazari, thank you for changing my life because you were right.
39:04I do look wonderful just like you said I would and I'm so grateful.
39:10I finally feel like I'm pretty without the butt.
40:03I'm super grateful for your life.
40:03I'm so grateful for my life.
40:03I'm so grateful for you.
40:03I'm so grateful to you for your work.
40:03I'm so grateful for your faith and my heart is not even more powerful but my heart.
40:04I know I've been through this whole life.
