00:07Tell us a little bit about your rodeo career so far.
00:10Dad's like, do it, do it. I'm like, oh fine.
00:14I started getting on Buffalo when I was four years old.
00:17So I liked it and just kept doing it.
00:21My first rodeo was very different to what these kids did.
00:24We did mutton busting, so that was riding sheep.
00:28That's something that doesn't happen anymore.
00:30So you reckon you got peer pressured into it and then you won instantly?
00:34Yeah, first try, first go. Pure luck.
00:37Yeah, my first ever rodeo was at Pussycat Downs, like 40k up the road there.
00:44And I got second in it.
00:45It teaches them a bit of perseverance and resilience
00:49because they've got to get over a fair bit.
00:51There's fear and stuff that's involved in it when they're little
00:54and they've got to get over that and then eventually they're going to get hurt
00:57and they've got to get over that too.
00:58I broke my arm and I didn't do it the next two years
01:03and I went again and I'm like, oh, I'll try it one more time.
01:06I got stomped in the bar and I haven't rode for the last three years
01:10but I'm thinking about getting on next year.
01:13The only time I've got scared is the oldest fella lost a tooth one night
01:17and it wasn't so much the tooth.
01:20It was what my wife was going to say when we finally caught up.
01:24Am I sure I'm going to not get my arm broken?
01:27Am I sure this isn't going to...
01:35Tell us what's happening there.
01:37Oh, Jesus Christ.
01:42One of my friends just rode and he got stomped on.
01:49We've got a quick rodeo and a proper professional rodeo.
01:53Let's get it done and we can go back to the bar.
01:55Just a different kind of environment up here,
01:59different lifestyle I find.
02:01It just makes it better.
02:02I suppose everyone can really get along and, you know,
02:05everyone's kind of dressed the same
02:07and get to know each other in our type of way.
02:11Yeah, you don't sort of get out much.
02:13It's always work and that.
02:15So when you come out, it's always a lot of play.
02:18A lot of play.
02:20Yeah.
02:20A lot of people talk about it being a good community
02:22and everyone's out here supporting their mates.
02:24Is that what it's like with your mates as well?
02:26Yeah, it's always...
02:37There's no competition between any of them.
02:39They're all mates and they do it with each other
02:42and they're genuinely happy for each other when they succeed.
