00:05and he's been a destroyer of cultural institutions,
00:08and he has sought to destroy a free and independent press.
00:12He's seeking to destroy a free and independent judiciary as well.
00:18And so he's been mostly a destroyer as opposed to a builder.
00:21He has undermined confidence in the press.
00:26It's not that the press was so popular before.
00:29It's not that the public had a lot of confidence in the press.
00:33Confidence in the press has been declining since the 1970s.
00:36It reached its highest point.
00:37It has been declining steadily since then,
00:40and it has accelerated during the Trump administration
00:44because every day, several times a day, he attacks the press as the fake news,
00:50and so he has his followers, and they believe that.
00:54And we live in a much more polarized society today than we did before
00:58because the media environment is so fragmented today.
01:01I don't mind being insulted.
01:02I've been insulted for many years by the fake news.
01:05You wouldn't know that by reading the fake news.
01:08Whether you listen to the fake news or not,
01:09only the fake news could come up with that one.
01:12So I just heard...
01:15No matter what the attacks are, whatever pressures he tries to bring,
01:18we should just keep doing our work
01:20because I think the thing that Trump fears the most are facts.
01:25Opinions, there are plenty of opinions.
01:26Opinions are the cheapest thing in the world,
01:30but facts are hard to get,
01:32and so I think that we should dedicate ourselves
01:34to discovering what the facts are,
01:37what the policies are,
01:39what's happening in the administration,
01:41how these policies affect the lives of ordinary people,
01:44who influence those policies,
01:46and with what intent.
01:48And I don't think we should change that at all
01:50during this administration,
01:52and particularly we should not do that
01:55when the administration is bringing pressure on us.
