00:22Can I help you?
00:23Yes, a couple of beyond newspapers came into my hands in New Orleans.
00:27They mention a man called Ben Cartwright.
00:30Eh?
00:31Well, is he a rather large man physically? About my age. He has two sons.
00:35Three of them.
00:36Three.
00:37What do you want him for?
00:39I'm Joe Cartwright.
00:40Your father and I have urgent business together. Where is he?
00:44Well, he's out of town right now. What kind of business?
00:46Out of town where?
00:48At Silver City. At a reception they're giving in his honor.
00:51Look at this. A whole newspaper story about him.
00:55We're booming him for politics. Fine man that he is, he'll make a fine governor so he will.
01:01Little Joe here is checking me on the facts of his life. Be in tomorrow's paper.
01:07Nevada and Ben Cartwright, a great future together.
01:14Well, I don't know about Nevada, but Ben Cartwright has no future.
01:22What do you mean by that?
01:24When he gets back into town, tell him I'm at the hotel.
01:28Charles left Duke.
01:29I asked you to Western.
01:30All right, now.
01:31Let go.
01:36Now look here.
01:45We'll smash Ben Cartwright just like we smashed the story of his life.
02:07Let's go.
02:25Well, let's do the best.
02:26We'll see you in the next one.
02:26Oh, let's go.
02:26Oh, we'll see you next time.
02:26Bye.
02:27See you next time.
02:27Bye.
02:27See you next time.
02:28Bye.
02:30Bye.
02:33Bye.
03:04Hi, Jack.
03:07Joe Cartwright, how are you?
03:08What can I do for you?
03:10Listen, you got a fellow named Charles LaDuke registered here?
03:12Yeah.
03:13Oh, what room is he in?
03:14You got nothing to do with that?
03:16Yeah, maybe.
03:19218.
03:20All right, thanks.
03:21Hey, Joe, that's good news, isn't it?
03:23I mean, about your father running for governor.
03:25Yeah, it's just fine, Jack.
03:48All right, where's that man here?
03:51It's the one that hit me.
03:52I'm sorry about that, son.
03:54Why don't you come on in?
04:01Mr. Cole will be back shortly.
04:02Mean laws are anything I can do for you.
04:05Yeah.
04:08Yeah, you can tell me who you are and what you want with my father.
04:11Oh, I'd rather spare you that ugly story.
04:14Oh, what ugly story?
04:17You know, it's really remarkable, the resemblance you bear to your mother.
04:22I'll just leave my mother out of this.
04:23Ah, it's a little difficult.
04:25Considering the fact that she and I were good friends.
04:30Oh, you said you had an ugly story.
04:33Couldn't have been about my mother.
04:34Yeah, right.
04:36That story was about the man she married.
04:39You're lying, mister.
04:40All right, take it easy, boy.
04:41You got something to say, say it.
04:42All right.
04:43All right, you take a message to your father.
04:46Tell him to stay out of politics because the plans I have for him are liable to interfere.
04:51What kind of plans?
04:56Inspector Charles LeDuc, New Orleans Police Department.
05:01Well, you came all the way from New Orleans for my father, huh?
05:042,000 miles and 20 years.
05:09Well, I don't believe you, mister.
05:10Go tell your father.
05:11See if he believes me.
05:13I'm going to tell him.
05:15I'm going to tell him and I'll be back for your friend.
05:18And in case you're curious,
05:21the charge is murder.
05:24No, I know you're lying.
05:42Ben, I must tell you, it's unusual in these parts for a man to be so graceful on the dance
05:50floor.
05:50Well, I must tell you, I haven't danced in such a long time, but so lovely a partner would make
05:55any man graceful.
05:57Your compliments are as smooth as you're dancing.
06:00I'm sure you learned both arts during your stay in New Orleans.
06:04Perhaps.
06:07Ah, Pa, Alice.
06:09Well, Adam.
06:11Louise, your father is a most generous host.
06:14Well, it's not every day we can entertain the future governor.
06:17Adam's been telling me about his two brothers.
06:20It's a shame they can't be here tonight.
06:22Well, the Ponderosa demands a great deal of work.
06:26I know.
06:27And you're lucky to have three sons to do it.
06:29Too bad we have to leave tonight.
06:31But Pa's got to get around the territory so that people can get better acquainted with him.
06:34I think everyone in Nevada knows Ben Cartwright.
06:39Folks, your attention, please.
06:44You all know about the fuss everyone's been kicking up about making Nevada a state.
06:50So it's time we started thinking about our first governor, someone who'll fight with all his heart for the future
06:58of Nevada.
06:59My friends, I give you an able man, a charitable man, a humble man.
07:07I give you Ben Cartwright of the Ponderosa.
07:13Come on, Ben.
07:15Say something.
07:19Well, I'm, uh, I'm deeply grateful.
07:26Well, I, uh, I won't make a speech.
07:34Go!
07:37In this country, we, uh, we don't talk much about things.
07:40We, we get out and do them.
07:45The things I want, I believe you want also.
07:49A free country where we can raise our families in safety under God.
07:55Now, Nevada is not yet a state.
07:59But when that great day comes,
08:02if you still want me,
08:04I'll try to do everything I can to be of service.
08:08Oh, wow.
08:10We still want you.
08:11Your father's a wonderful man.
08:15He's going to make a splendid governor.
08:19Well, meet the next governor.
08:21Hey, hooray!
08:24There ain't nothing to celebrate yet.
08:25Nothing till Nevada becomes a state.
08:30Technicalities, pa, just technicalities.
08:32What about that, boys?
08:32Yes.
08:33By the way?
08:43What's the matter with Joe?
08:44Well, pa, you've had a long ride.
08:45Won't you go on up and get in some fresh clothes?
08:48We'll have something to eat, and then we'll talk about it later.
08:50Sounds good.
08:50Pa?
08:51What?
08:52I don't think this can wait.
08:55What?
08:57There were a couple of strangers in town today.
08:59They came into the Territorial Enterprise,
09:01made a few remarks about you I didn't like.
09:03Well, I imagine there are quite a few people.
09:05What kind of remarks?
09:08Well, first I better tell you who they are.
09:10They say they're on the New Orleans Police Force.
09:13One of them's an inspector named LaDuke.
09:16LaDuke?
09:20Charles LaDuke?
09:22And you know him.
09:27Is he at the hotel?
09:28Yeah.
09:31Settle my horse.
10:01I've been caught right.
10:05Well, come in, Cartwright.
10:07Come in.
10:11Hmm.
10:13Been 20 years.
10:14You haven't changed much.
10:15You remember me?
10:18Yes.
10:19I remember you.
10:21I understand you're a big man in these parts.
10:24They're even thinking of putting you up for political law as governor, isn't it?
10:27I have a lot of good friends.
10:29A lot of friends and three fine sons.
10:31Well, I haven't been as fortunate as you have.
10:36Of course, a policeman doesn't have much chance to accumulate family, friends, or admiration.
10:43Most people admire an honest man of the law.
10:46Hmm.
10:47Seems like you have everything and I have nothing.
10:51Of course.
10:52I've always been handicapped by this unfortunate infirmity.
10:58I'm sorry.
11:00I'm sorry.
11:00Well, it's...
11:02A bullet was responsible.
11:05Hurts.
11:06Every step.
11:09Yeah.
11:10See, the kneecap is shattered.
11:12Happened 20 years ago.
11:14I was on a murder case.
11:16The murder case of Simon LaRoche.
11:18You remember?
11:20I remember.
11:21You should, because you're going to hang for it.
11:25Mr. LeDuc, that charge against me was dropped 20 years ago.
11:30Was it?
11:31Yes, it was.
11:32I offered to return to New Orleans a month after I left.
11:36My lawyer wrote, said it was unnecessary,
11:38since three witnesses had testified that I had shot LaRoche in self-defense.
11:42Hmm.
11:43Well, do you have any proof?
11:47Any documentary evidence?
11:51Well, no, I was to have received a letter from the New Orleans chief of police.
11:56But you don't have that letter.
12:00You know, Cartwright, your lawyer, gave you some very bad advice.
12:03You are a fugitive from justice.
12:06You are still wanted for the murder of Simon LaRoche.
12:09Now, Mr. LeDuc, that can't be.
12:12Well, here's a warrant for your arrest.
12:17Go ahead, look at it.
12:25It's a true warrant.
12:26It's on the right paper, the right signatures, the right language.
12:30What more do you want?
12:33The right motive.
12:35What's yours?
12:39Do you remember a scuffle in the alley the night I came to arrest you?
12:44We, uh, we had a fight.
12:47I knocked you down.
12:48Do you remember hearing a shot?
12:51LeDuc, you were after me.
12:53You wanted to kill me.
12:55I wasn't armed.
12:56I ran.
12:57Yes, you ran.
12:59I followed you.
13:00In the dark, I fell and the bullet ended my leg.
13:03I'm sorry.
13:04I didn't know that.
13:05I didn't look back.
13:07Well, you should have.
13:08Because it gave me a very special interest in your case.
13:15I started following you that night, crawling on my belly.
13:19And I'm going to continue to follow you until you hang.
13:24I can't hold myself responsible for what happened to you that night.
13:27You're going back to New Orleans with me and stand trial.
13:33This warrant of yours is of no value out here, you know.
13:38You know, if you were innocent, I think you'd be anxious to go back and clear your name.
13:43My name is clear.
13:45What do you think your name would be worth?
13:46If people found out about your wife and Simon LaRoche, Governor Cartwright.
13:58Cartwright, before I'm through, you're going to beg me to take you back to New Orleans.
14:04You don't believe that, do you?
14:07I swear it.
14:25See you, Mr. Cartwright.
14:31That's Ben Cartwright.
14:32Going to be first governor in Nevada when she becomes a state.
14:36That's Ben Cartwright.
14:39That's Ben Cartwright.
14:47THE END
15:11Hi, hello there, Ben.
15:14Dennis.
15:14And how are you now?
15:16Well, to be perfectly frank, Dennis, not too well.
15:21Aye, and I'll wager it's on account of them two, the two strangers.
15:26Oh, you've seen them, have you?
15:27Wasn't it right in front of me that little Joe was hit?
15:30It was you they were looking for.
15:33And by the look of you, it was bad news they brought.
15:40Dennis, I suppose you'll be reporting what happened in Silver City.
15:45It's right here.
15:47I'd like to, I'd like to put something in next to it.
15:51Just one moment.
15:57Ready now.
15:59To all of my friends in Nevada.
16:06My deepest appreciation for the way you've honored me.
16:20But for personal reasons, I hereby withdraw my name
16:29from consideration as a possible candidate
16:34for governor of the state of Nevada.
16:42Here, take a look at that.
16:46So he's withdrawing his name.
16:48Seems like you've already begun to reach him.
16:50Yes, sir.
16:51Things are beginning to fall right into line.
16:55But for personal reasons, I hereby withdraw my name
16:58from consideration as a possible candidate
17:00for governor of the state of Nevada.
17:03But, Father, there was no reason to withdraw, not yet.
17:05I didn't want to, Adam.
17:08Believe me, I didn't want to.
17:10Why then, Paul?
17:12Well, you just can't leave your friends out in a limb
17:15waiting to be sawed off.
17:17Your friends would have stuck by you.
17:19You mean they'd have been dragged down with me.
17:22On a political campaign,
17:25if there's just one weak spot,
17:27one breath of scandal,
17:29your opponents find it and use it to destroy you.
17:31But, Paul, if you were clear to them charges...
17:35If...
17:36It would take weeks to get word back from New Orleans.
17:40If I remained a political candidate all that time,
17:43our names would be dragged through every pigsty in the state.
17:46Paul, you're not telling us everything.
17:48It's not like you'd have run out of New Orleans
17:50without the trial.
17:53The only thing I've ever kept from you, isn't it?
17:55It's one thing you can still keep if you want to.
17:58No.
18:00It's been too long already.
18:04Truth is something that always comes back at you, doesn't it?
18:10Joe,
18:11I've told you a great deal about your mother.
18:14You never really knew her.
18:15She was a wonderful woman.
18:18Beautiful,
18:19slender,
18:20delicate,
18:21gentle.
18:23treated Adam and Haas like they were her own.
18:28She was like an angel to everyone that ever came into contact with her.
18:33And then this...
18:36This man, this LaRouche,
18:39Simon LaRouche came into our lives.
18:43The man I killed.
18:45Why'd you have to kill him?
18:49Your mother came from a...
18:53From a certain notorious section of New Orleans.
18:57A section the sailors called the Flats.
19:01Paul, what difference does it make where she came from?
19:03No difference, no difference, not to me.
19:05But to a man like LaRouche,
19:07it presented an opportunity to
19:10cash in on her past
19:11by threatening to destroy her reputation.
19:16Threatening her with what?
19:20He blackmailed her to
19:22keep her past a secret.
19:24To keep what secret?
19:27Joe, I...
19:28What secret?
19:29Joseph, I...
19:30To keep what secret?
19:31What your mother did or did not do
19:32before I met her is of no importance.
19:35I loved her
19:36and I married her.
19:38She was a wonderful person.
19:43But your mother
19:44was afraid of
19:46scandal.
19:47Not for her sake, but for mine.
19:49For horses and Adam's.
19:51So she...
19:53She paid LaRouche.
19:56She paid him.
19:58Until I found out about it.
20:01I went to see him.
20:03We talked.
20:05Got into an argument.
20:07A fight.
20:09He pulled a knife.
20:12I killed him.
20:14In self-defense.
20:16But I killed him.
20:20I felt I couldn't stand trial
20:22because then everything
20:23that your mother
20:25wanted to forget
20:27would have come out.
20:28So it comes out now.
20:3120 years later.
20:34Yes.
20:37That's why I feel that maybe
20:40if I go to New Orleans
20:41I can put a stop to it.
20:45There's another way.
20:49Joseph.
20:54Paul, let me go.
20:55Not the move you're in.
20:57I remember
20:59that Duke is doing his duty.
21:01I want you to promise me
21:02that you
21:03will do no harm
21:04to him of any nature.
21:08I want to go out for a while.
21:10I'll go with you,
21:11little Joe.
21:12I'd rather go by myself.
21:15Joe.
21:18I promise.
21:19I promise.
21:20Let's go.
21:51Let's go.
22:26Let's go.
22:28Come over to the hotel tonight and have supper with me.
22:30Oh, that would be nice.
22:32Is that all right with you, Inspector?
22:33Go right ahead.
22:35You look like you could be fun, mister.
22:37Mister, um...
22:38His name is Charles.
22:39Charlie.
22:41Charlie.
22:42I bet you I could get you out of that lonesome mood.
22:45I like being alone.
22:46I have a lot to think of.
22:47Think?
22:48You're wasting time.
22:49Mister, it's against the law to be alone in Virginia City.
22:55I don't think I could like you.
22:58Child, if you got to know me, you'd hate me.
23:05Hey, why is he so hard to get to?
23:07He's got his reasons.
23:09With that leg and all, I feel kind of sorry for him.
23:13Here, have a drink.
23:14What about your friend?
23:16Friend?
23:16He's not my friend.
23:17He's my boss.
23:18It's my job to look after him.
23:28Well, Duke.
23:33Well, Duke, I want to talk to you.
23:35I don't have anything to say to you.
23:45I said I want to talk to you, LeDuc.
23:47And I told you I don't have anything to say to you.
23:49My pa told us the whole story.
23:52When you say the whole story, I figure you mean the part about your mother, too.
23:56I'm warning you, keep my mother's name out of your filthy mouth.
24:00You know, you and I ought to be on the same side.
24:02You just get your father to take that little trip with me, and your mother stays an angel.
24:07You know, I gave pa my word I wouldn't kill you.
24:11But if you drag my mother's name through the dirt, so help me, I will.
24:14You'll have to kill me first.
24:17Well, maybe that'll be the best part.
24:39You're dead.
24:41It was self-defense.
24:43Not the way I saw it.
24:45What you saw, what happened?
24:46You just got through doing me the greatest favor of my life.
24:50Because now I can tell my story under oath, in a courtroom where everybody can hear.
24:55the whole story about your mother.
24:58You just give me the chance, the trial will be about her, not about you.
25:04Well, you're not going to get that chance.
25:07What happened?
25:14Go on, get the sheriff.
25:15Young Cartwright just shot this man down in cold blood.
25:27Sheriff, evening.
25:30Anything wrong?
25:31I'm afraid so, Ben.
25:32We're looking for Little Joe.
25:34Little Joe?
25:34You ain't going to like this.
25:36He shot a fellow in Virginia City.
25:38Killed him.
25:39Oh, no, Sheriff.
25:41No question about it, Ben.
25:42Where is he?
25:43Who was it he was supposed to have shot?
25:45One of them fellows from New Orleans.
25:47Name of Cole.
25:49Oh.
25:50This Inspector LaDuke, he witnessed it.
25:52He said Little Joe just up and did it in cold blood.
25:55Oh, Sheriff Brady, you know Little Joe better than that.
25:58All I know is he shot a man and ran away.
26:00And we got to find him.
26:01Sheriff.
26:03Now I know Joe will be coming home.
26:07Let us bring him into town to you.
26:10All right, Ben.
26:11Your word's good enough for me.
26:13Come on.
26:18Let's go.
26:31All right.
26:48I was hoping I'd find you here.
26:55I thought you'd come.
26:58I wanted to say goodbye.
27:00Son, you're not going anywhere.
27:02I got no choice.
27:04Well, there's always a choice.
27:07Here it's the choice between running away or facing up to what's happened.
27:13What did happen in town?
27:15Well, I went to see Le Duc.
27:17In spite of what you promised?
27:20I promised I wouldn't harm him. I didn't say I wouldn't see him.
27:24While I was talking to him, Cole came in.
27:26We got into a fight.
27:28He drew his gun and I killed him.
27:38The trouble is, the sheriff's wondering why you ran away.
27:44I had a lot of choice with Inspector Le Duc, the only witness.
27:47Well, it's your word against his.
27:49People of Virginia City know you and I know they trust you.
27:54Pa, that's not the point.
27:55What is the point?
27:59Le Duc told me what he'd do at the trial.
28:02He said he'd get up in front of that whole town and tell all those dirty lies about my mother.
28:10You were running away to protect your mother's name?
28:15Is that it?
28:17Yes, that's it.
28:25Your mother begged me to stand trial in New Orleans, no matter what the consequences to her.
28:33Well, boy, I can't do that.
28:37I made a mistake, Joe.
28:39I can't let you make the same mistake.
28:43You come home with me now and...
28:45Tomorrow morning, we'll ride into town together.
28:56Son, you've always trusted me.
29:00And running away will ruin your life.
29:05And it won't help her.
29:11Come on.
29:16I'm asking you.
29:30I'm asking you.
29:50I brought you to your prisoner.
29:51Thanks, Ben.
29:52What have you got to say?
29:54Shot him in self-defense.
29:56Cole's gun was in his holster.
29:58That's impossible.
29:59He drew first.
30:00It was there.
30:01Why'd you run away?
30:02Maybe he figured he'd be framed, like what's happening now.
30:05You know better than that, Adam.
30:06You'll get a fair trial.
30:09God lock you up, son.
30:17You boys wait here.
30:18I'll be back in a few minutes.
30:41I saw you riding into town with your son.
30:44If you've come to plead for him, you're wasting your time.
30:48The Duke.
30:50You didn't come to Virginia City for my son.
30:55You came for me.
30:56I do rather admire you for bringing him in.
30:59It shows a certain respect for the law.
31:01Respect?
31:03My son tells me you saw the shooting.
31:06Hmm?
31:07He also tells me you can clear him.
31:11Every criminal claims he's innocent.
31:14Don't call my son a criminal.
31:16And let's stop beating around the bush.
31:18You came to Virginia City to close the La Roche murder case.
31:21Well, I'm going to give you a chance to do just that.
31:23Are you offering me a deal?
31:25I'm offering you a deal.
31:29Are you clear, my boy?
31:32I'll go back to New Orleans with you.
31:47Well, I don't know, though.
31:49You're asking me to purge him myself.
31:52I'm an officer of the law.
31:54The truth isn't open to whim.
31:56But, uh...
31:58Now, suppose I do make this compromise.
32:02Would you return with me unarmed?
32:05Yes.
32:06And alone.
32:07Just you and me.
32:08On horse.
32:13Yes, I would.
32:14And would you give me your promise,
32:16your word,
32:18that you'd make no attempt to escape?
32:20I'd give you my word.
32:22How long would it take you
32:23to get the horses and provisions ready?
32:26An hour.
32:27Make it an hour and a half.
32:28I'll have time to get outfitted.
32:30I'll meet you at the jail and clear your son.
32:32We'll leave directly from there.
32:34And Cartwright.
32:36You should feel relieved.
32:39Every criminal always is
32:40who finally surrenders himself to justice.
33:08Pa, he's coming.
33:11Pa, who's coming?
33:16Inspector Le Duc.
33:18He's agreed to tell the truth about the shooting.
33:20And tell the truth.
33:21Why?
33:24I'm going back to no one is with him.
33:29Now, I'll be back.
33:30I'll be back soon.
33:33Sheriff?
33:34Inspector?
33:35Ben says you got something you want to tell me.
33:37Yes, about the...
33:39the death of my associate, Mr. Tom Cole.
33:42Step over to the desk, please.
33:46You see, I was rather dazed by what happened.
33:50And so I rather confuse the facts.
33:54Unconfuse them.
33:55Well, as I recall now,
33:58Cole was drunk.
33:59He drew first.
34:00Joe Cartwright fired in self-defense.
34:04What about the gun in Cole's holster?
34:06He put it there himself before he died.
34:08Sort of a reflex.
34:10Mr., you really was confused, wasn't you?
34:13Maybe the strange climate.
34:15I rarely bungle the facts like this in New Orleans.
34:20Mr., from now on, stay in New Orleans.
34:23We need you around here like we need the plague.
34:26You belong in that cell instead of Little Joe.
34:29Sure, if everybody makes mistakes, ask Ben Cartwright.
34:32All I want to ask Ben is, will he accept my apologies?
34:40Thank you, Sheriff.
34:43Don't let Little Joe out of a cell until I'm well away.
34:47Why not? Where are you going?
34:49Just do me the favor.
34:51See when I get back.
35:06Well, Little Joe will be up pretty soon now.
35:09Boy, I know you told us not to,
35:11but how come me and Adam can't ride out about ten miles and intercept you?
35:15If a couple of outlaws rode up on you,
35:17it wouldn't be your fault, would it?
35:19Forget it, hoss.
35:20Well, at least we can ride along with you.
35:22He can't object to that.
35:23Oh, he does object.
35:25I said I'd go alone.
35:27Well, now why is that so important?
35:29What's his motive?
35:30I don't know.
35:32Anyway, I gave my word.
35:36I'm waiting.
35:42Adam.
35:48I'll get you back, horseball.
35:56I'll get you back.
36:06I'll get you back.
36:31I'll get you back, horseball.
36:35I'll get you back, horseball.
36:44I'll get you back, horseball.
37:01I'll get you back, horseball.
37:20I'll get you back, horseball.
37:23I'll get you back, horseball.
37:32I'll get you back, horseball.
37:39I'll get you back, horseball.
37:48I'll get you back, horseball.
38:17I'll get you back, horseball.
38:40I'll get you back, horseball.
38:50I'll get you back, horseball.
39:14I'll get you back, horseball.
39:41I'll get you back, horseball.
40:02I'll get you back, horseball.
40:08I'll get you back, horseball.
40:21I'll get you back, horseball.
40:38I'll get you back, horseball.
40:40I'll get you back, horseball.
40:42I'll get you back, horseball.
41:01It looks like a warm one today.
41:04What are you waiting for?
41:05Mount up!
41:23Get away from me!
41:26You're in me!
41:26Get away from me, Carter!
41:35I think I'll put a bullet through your leg
41:38so you'll know how it feels.
41:45All right, get over here.
42:01Do you have another gun?
42:03This'll do it.
42:04All right, they've had enough.
42:25What's that?
42:25Eat you up!
42:29They weren't after scalps.
42:31They were after horses.
42:32Let's go!
42:42How far is the nearest settlement?
42:47About...
42:48Well, there's a way station up ahead.
42:51How far?
42:53About 20 miles.
42:5520 miles.
42:58Over those hills.
43:02Without horses.
43:04And without water.
43:11Come on.
43:18Stay ahead of me.
43:21Stay ahead of me.
43:21The.

46:23Let me get him some water.
46:38Easy, easy.
46:42That's enough.
46:57You brought me in.
47:04Why didn't you leave me out there to die?
47:06Couldn't let you die out there.
47:08Why not?
47:10They'd have both been better off.
47:15Where's the next stage leave for the East?
47:17It's due in sometime tonight.
47:19Where are we going?
47:22New Orleans.
47:24There's nothing in New Orleans for you.
47:27You were warned for my arrest, don't you?
47:31You were right.
47:32I intended to kill you before we ever got there.
47:36But you can't kill without hate, and now the hate is gone.
47:42It's out of a relief.
47:48This warrant was never any good, was it?
47:50You were cleared 20 years ago by everybody except me.
47:56That letter the judge sent you, I intercepted it.
48:01Why didn't you leave me out there to die?
48:12Can you rustle up some food for a couple of hungry men?
48:15Him too?
48:17We were coming here together, didn't we?
48:19You betcha, mister.
48:20Just give me a couple of minutes.
48:24Well, let's wash up.
48:27Give me your hand.
48:28Give me your hand.
