00:00Five middle schoolers stopping a runaway school bus after their driver passes out are being hailed as heroes.
00:07I had a medical emergency and the students stepped up.
00:1345-year-old Leah Taylor was driving her usual route through Hancock County, Mississippi Wednesday afternoon
00:18with a bus full of students when she had an asthma attack and lost consciousness.
00:24She kind of sort of like fell over, like flopped over, and everyone started like standing up.
00:30Here in the school bus surveillance video, you can see five students jumping into action,
00:35working as a team to stop the bus and save the bus driver.
00:39I saw that the bus was veering off to the side, then I grabbed the wheel.
00:44It's sixth grader Darius Clark who hits the brakes.
00:47The bus started rolling forward. It started to like gain speed.
00:51So whenever I clicked the brakes, it about threw me out the windshield.
00:55Eighth grader Kaylee Clark called 911 while classmate Destiny Cornelius administered medicine to Taylor.
01:02I saw her medication in her hand, and I saw like her reaching for it.
01:06I knew that's what she needed.
01:07Watch all five working together until first responders arrive.
01:11I can't thank these students enough for saving everybody's life because it could have turned out so much worse.
