00:00We gather in Astana to reaffirm our shared responsibility to protect our planet.
00:09It means that the states of our region clearly understand the urgency and extreme significance
00:17of having shared vision for a resilient future.
00:22Ecology today is not limited to climate alone.
00:27It is the very foundation of human livelihood.
00:43The Regional Ecological Summit in Astana brought Central Asian states together to align positions
00:49on environmental issues ahead of international negotiations.
00:52Senior representatives of the United Nations, international organizations and financial
00:57institutions took part.
00:59After three years in the making, the dialogue culminated in regional leaders adopting a joint
01:04declaration on environmental solidarity of Central Asia.
01:08The countries, most of the affected the global climate change, remain again one on one with its
01:15own consequences.
01:17We are confident that international solidarity must be expressed above the protection of a
01:24permanent, fair and inexperienced access to the global climate and innovation.
01:36Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan committed to strengthening cooperation on environmental protection, biodiversity, chemical safety, waste management, air quality,
01:48land degradation and desertification.
01:51Leaders also endorsed President Kasimzumar Tokayev's proposal to establish an international water organization under the UN alongside an international biodiversity
01:59fund and a program of the Caspian Sea.
02:02A five-year regional environmental action plan developed in partnership with the UN was also approved, including a joint climate
02:09investment portfolio.
02:32Since 2020, it was increased in three times, and the sum of direct material damage from the international situation was
02:40about $16 million a year.
02:44Central Asian states are now looking to factor in the growing climate burden across the region as they move to
02:50implement the new action plan.
02:52Calls for stronger regional cooperation on water allocation, data sharing and long-term resource management echoed across national delegations.
03:01Countries worked alongside UN agencies and European partners to coordinate solutions on climate transition, air pollution, food security and the
03:10sustainable management of natural resources.
03:13The action plan also places new emphasis on resource efficiency, with countries stepping up efforts on waste management and circular
03:21economy solutions.
03:22We are paying more attention to the circular economy. Why are we doing that? Because the resources are limited, as
03:31you know.
03:31So we want to earn more from the West and get resources back to the economy.
03:38The summit also unlocked major green investment deals.
03:43During the International Exhibition of Green Technologies, 17 agreements worth nearly €2 billion were signed, covering renewable energy, waste management,
03:52industrial decarbonization and fertilizer production.
03:55Kazakhstan's new energy transition platform, Kajet, launched with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, aims to deliver at least
04:0210 gigawatts of renewable capacity by 2035,
04:06helping cuts over 20 million tons of emissions.
04:09We have gone from this event, countries of Central Asia, with a clear intention to continue working on improving the
04:20environment of the environment, climate conditions,
04:25and economic conditions, and economic conditions, and environmental conditions.
04:27We are able to reduce the resources of the CO2-2 emissions.
04:30And in all this, we see a very good support of international organizations, international financial instruments.
04:36This is the main result. This is what we have achieved.
04:43With binding commitments now in place, the summit marks a shift from dialogue to implementation, as Central Asian countries move
04:51to turn shared environmental goals into concrete action.
