06:17I think the world
06:18is seeing that right now
06:19with the situation
06:20in the Persian Gulf,
06:21how important it is
06:23to have a variety
06:24of different energy sources.
06:26And I think Algeria
06:27is obviously very important
06:29to Europe
06:29on the energy map
06:32and I think, again,
06:34Algeria is blessed
06:35not only with hydrocarbons,
06:36but, as you mentioned,
06:38with all kinds
06:39of other energy sources.
06:40It has, I'm sure,
06:41great potential
06:42for renewable energy as well.
06:44Solar, I'm sure.
06:46So, again,
06:47I think the American
06:48private sector
06:49is very innovative
06:51in a lot of these areas.
06:52So we look forward
06:54to making sure
06:55that Algeria
06:57is aware
06:58of what the American
07:01private sector
07:02has to bring to the table
07:05and we're making sure
07:07also that the American
07:08private sector
07:08is aware
07:09of the opportunities
07:09here in Algeria.
07:10I see my role
07:11as really being
07:12the connective tissue
07:13between the private sector
07:15in my country
07:16and Algeria.
07:18So, again,
07:18I'm very happy
07:20to be having
07:20these discussions.
07:21In an era
07:23where technological
07:25sovereignty is key,
07:26what concrete steps
07:27are being taken
07:28to deepen
07:29cooperation
07:30in innovation,
07:32digital infrastructure,
07:33and emerging technologies?
07:35Well, that's a great question.
07:37I think there's no question
07:38that the 21st century
07:40is going to be
07:41a technology-driven century
07:44and AI
07:47and all kinds
07:50of digital platforms
07:52are going to be critical.
07:55Again, though,
07:56for all those to succeed,
07:57energy is critical.
08:00You know,
08:00data centers take
08:01an enormous amount
08:01of energy
08:02and that's going
08:02to be one
08:03of the bedrock,
08:05foundational aspects
08:07of the AI world
08:10that we are entering.
08:11And so I think Algeria
08:12can play a very important role
08:14in that world.
08:16We have had certain agreements
08:17already in this area.
08:19We signed
08:19a memorative understanding
08:20on cyber cooperation.
08:23So we are open
08:25to discussing
08:27a whole range
08:28of technological arrangements
08:31with Algeria
08:32in order to work together
08:36to harness
08:37the incredible powers
08:38that these technological innovations
08:40give us.
08:41Beyond governmental level agreements,
08:45how can this partnership
08:47create real opportunities
08:48for Algerian youth,
08:50particularly in skills,
08:51entrepreneurship,
08:53and knowledge transfer?
08:54Well, I think probably
08:56the first thing
08:56I would think of
08:57is English language training.
09:02I would love to work
09:05with Algeria
09:06in developing proficiency
09:10in English.
09:11I know that now
09:13it is being widely taught
09:14in Algerian schools.
09:16We're doing this interview
09:17in English.
09:18I hope that the viewers
09:20of this will be able
09:21to understand me
09:22in English,
09:23hopefully some of the
09:24younger people especially.
09:25And I think that would be great
09:27to look to develop
09:29more programs
09:31for study abroad
09:33and ways that we can
09:36work with the young people
09:38of Algeria.
09:39Again, because English
09:40is really now
09:41the language of technology.
09:42it's becoming
09:44a pretty universal language.
09:46And so I think
09:48it is beautiful
09:50if we can work together
09:53on developing
09:55English language proficiency
09:56among the youth.
09:57I think that's what
09:58the government is doing,
09:59the Algerian government
09:59is doing.

10:01we are happy to work
10:02with the Algerian government.
10:03That's a sovereign decision
10:04of Algeria.
10:05and we, you know,

10:50prepares to host
10:51the FIFA 2026 World Cup,
10:54how can such global events
10:56be leveraged
10:57to strengthen people-to-people ties
10:59and cultural understanding
11:01between Algerians and Americans?
11:03Well, first of all,
11:04I want to congratulate Algeria
11:06on qualifying for the World Cup
11:08and we are delighted
11:10to be welcoming
11:11the Algerian team
11:12to the United States
11:13very soon
11:14for the FIFA World Cup.
11:17We want to make sure
11:20that Algerians understand
11:22that if they would like
11:24to come to the United States,
11:25if you'd like to come
11:26to the United States
11:27for the World Cup,
11:28there are special visa
11:31paths, procedures to go,
11:34FIFA pass,
11:35and so we just want
11:36to make sure everybody knows
11:38that they are welcome
11:39to come for the World Cup.
11:40it's going to be
11:41an incredible event.
11:43It also coincides
11:44with our country's
11:45250th birthday.
11:47Today is the 250th,
11:48this year is the 250th anniversary
11:49of our independence.
11:50So, thank you.
11:52We're celebrating that
11:55and, you know, again,
11:56I think it's going to be,
11:58you know,
11:59a great international gathering
12:01and I think it's so important
12:02that Algeria is part of that.
12:04It makes me very, very happy
12:07and so looking forward
12:08to having Algerian fans
12:09and hopefully, again,
12:10this will increase understanding
12:13between the United States
12:14and Algeria.
12:15I'm sure there will be,
12:16you know, Algerians
12:17who are visiting parts
12:18of the United States
12:19they've never been before

12:21will be meeting Algerians
12:22and ultimately,
12:23that kind of person-to-person contact
12:24is a great basis for building.
