00:04Welcome to this episode of Voces Reimagined. Today we will talk about the human crisis of
00:09the coca. Since weeks, the country has been talking about the caída in the price of the
00:13price of the pasta of coca and the crisis that this has generated in areas like Tumaco and Catatumbo.
00:18The caída of prices has been seen in a storm that since many years has come to these territories,
00:22in which the lack of opportunities, the débil presence of the state and the violence incesante
00:27increase even more the inequalities that these communities have already lived.
00:30To understand better the face of this crisis, we have today with Yvonne Quiñones,
00:34the social and social communicator of Tumaco.
00:37In these moments, a large part of the tumaco people vive a very difficult crisis.
00:43If you want to accept it, the local economy has had to do with the coca.
00:48It is a tough business that never would have been a option if it was because of the
00:54people who live here in the city of Tumaco.
00:59Since 25 years ago, the tax of unemployment here is higher than 75%.
01:06No would have been a option if the campesina no leaves it alone to the deriva.
01:11Without a doubt, this crisis, this debilitation of the business of the coca is something really
01:17positive for the communities that live here, if you have in mind that with the arrival of
01:24the use of illicit communities, also arrived the groups armed to the margen of the law,
01:29which, in plena confrontation, have left to a step miles of deaths, centenares of
01:36desaparecidos, a number incontable of desplazados, among other actions,
02:43del gobierno.
