00:03Welcome to Mission Unstoppable.
00:06I'm Miranda Cosgrove.
00:07This show will make your head explode.
00:09Not literally.
00:10Let's go.
00:11Today on Mission Unstoppable,
00:14two Hollywood music producers spill the tea on riding the next pop pit.
00:18I love how that V drops.
00:19The scientific secret behind instant ice cream is revealed.
00:23I think I'm in love.
00:25Lord DIY shows us a stunning lab you can do at home.
00:29Oh my gosh, guys, this is so crazy.
00:31And we'll meet the roboticist who drives the rover on Mars.
00:35This is wild.
00:36I'm looking at the Mars rover right now.
00:39Get ready to meet the scientists, inventors,
00:42and heroes who help make our world a better place.
00:45The future is here.
00:47The Mission Unstoppable.
00:53Music comes from the heart, but also the head.
00:56And the arms if you're a drummer.
00:58But did you know it also has something to do with math?
01:01Danny Washington went to the studio to meet with two music producers
01:04who know how to write a pop hit.
01:07Taylor Swift has had a career of hits.
01:10Hit after hit after hit.
01:12Just how do the biggest names in pop music keep dropping singles
01:15that rise to the top of the charts?
01:18Well, they don't do it alone.
01:19They use technology and math.
01:22I went to the heart of the music industry to connect with two recording artists
01:26who could give me the lowdown.
01:29First up, singer, songwriter, and producer Avina Savage.
01:33She's recorded her own solo music, collaborated with Weekend Revolution,
01:38and produced tracks for films like The Jungle Book.
01:41Avina and I met up at Killingsworth Recording Studio in Los Angeles.
01:45Great to see you.
01:46Yeah, come on in.
01:49Avina explains that the formula for a pop song is really just simple math.
01:54What are we working on today?
01:55Today I'm building a track, which is the music part of a song.
01:58So I'm working on a digital audio workstation.
02:01We call them DAWs.
02:02This is where I'm able to manipulate audio files and make synthetic instruments,
02:08fake strings, fake bass drums, and I put it together to make the structure that a song gets written on
02:13top of.
