00:00We had quite a few drownings in the south coast branch. In March we had five drownings.
00:07Four of them were on unpatrolled beaches and unfortunately one was on a patrol beach
00:11where the patrol was on the way to rescue the person and he went under. We also had a
00:19resuscitation in Kiama in January where the person was successively resuscitated and then he
00:25managed to walk out of hospital a week later which was great. They have a massive impact on our
00:31lifesavers. It does have a lasting effect on them and luckily we have a great support network and
00:38mental first aid team in place for Surf Life Saving NSW who swing into action after there's been a
00:44major incident and we'll love to see more people come down and volunteer on the beach.
00:49Day like today it's absolutely stunning down here at Jones's Beach.
00:55Day like today.
