00:00Previous administrations have sent both the president and the vice president to the dinner.
00:05But after the foiled attack on Saturday, if the dinner is rescheduled,
00:09would President Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance both plan on attending?
00:15And is it wise to have both of them in the same spot,
00:21given the presidential line of succession that you mentioned a second ago?
00:24It's definitely a good question, and I know that it's one that will be raised.
00:27I can assure you the president intends to attend the event, as he has told all of you publicly.
00:32I don't want to rule in or out the vice president's attendance,
00:35but certainly that's a conversation that will take place.
00:38Iran has proposed a mutual reopening of the strait,
00:43leaving the nuclear discussion for later in the process.
00:46Given that the nuclear program has been a red line for this administration,
00:51would the president agree to that kind of phased negotiation?
00:55Well, only because it's been reported, I will confirm,
00:58the president has met with his national security team this morning.
01:01The meeting may be ongoing, maybe not.
01:02I don't want to speak affirmatively because I was prepping to come out here.
01:07But the proposal was being discussed.
01:09I don't want to get ahead of the president or his national security team.
01:12What I will reiterate is that the president's red lines with respect to Iran
01:16have been made very, very clear, not just to the American public,
01:20but also to them as well.
01:21So they're considering it?
01:22I wouldn't say they're considering it.
01:24I would just say that there was a discussion this morning
01:26that I don't want to get ahead of.
01:28And you'll hear directly from the president, I'm sure, on this topic very soon.
01:31What's the president's red lines?
01:32I'm going to ask you about the Fed chairman.
01:33But first, three assassination attempts in three years.
01:37Is this going to change the type of events that the president goes to?
01:41Well, again, that's going to be part of the conversations moving forward.
01:44But as you heard from President Trump,
01:46he does not want these deranged lunatics
01:50and these grave acts of political violence
01:53to change our American way of life.
01:55And I think it's a very brave thing for him to say.
01:57It'd be very easy for him to just hunker down here at the White House
02:00where he knows he's safe.
02:01But the president wants to be out across the country.
02:04He wants to go across the country to meet with Americans.
02:07He wants to celebrate the 250th birthday
02:10of our nation's anniversary this summer.
02:12As you know, we're gearing up for a big UFC fight here on the South Lawn.
02:16So there's many exciting events I know the president
02:18wants to be part of and will be part of moving forward.
02:22He's undeterred in that way,
02:23and it's something that inspires all of us here to keep going.
