Flying can be stressful, but staying connected shouldn't be. I took a flight on a United 737 equipped with Starlink to see if the free, high-speed Wi-Fi lived up to the hype. Watch as I test everything from scrolling TikTok and uploading videos to streaming live sports at 32,000 feet.

00:00I'm gonna be real with you guys. This is kind of a weird time to be talking about flying in
00:04any kind
00:05of positive light right now. I don't think anyone's feeling super relaxed about it, but I'm on a United
00:10737 testing Starlink Wi-Fi, and for those of us where flying isn't optional, this kind of upgrade
00:17actually gives a little peace of mind just being able to stay connected, and reliably so, from 32,000
00:23feet. Starlink on United is free as long as you have a Mileage Plus account, which is also free,
00:28so I got connected pretty much instantly. I needed a minute to decompress, so I opened TikTok to scroll,
00:33zero lag. Then I figured, okay, it might actually be useful for you guys to see the internet speed,
00:38so I uploaded a video showing just that, and you can see the time. It took about five minutes for
00:43a 40-second clip to go live. Honestly, I usually use awful airplane Wi-Fi as an excuse not to
00:49work,
00:49but this time I didn't have that, and it actually felt good to be a little productive. I will say
00:54the YouTube uploads from Chrome didn't really work for me, but I was still replying to comments,
00:58getting things done, and overall, it felt way more like normal ground Wi-Fi than airplane internet.
01:03Also, I've just been traveling so much lately, I've missed most of March Madness so far. Gotta love
01:09timing. There was a big women's matchup on, and I was able to stream it live on YouTube TV. I
01:14didn't
01:14expect this to matter as much as it did, but being able to watch something I care about mid-flight
01:19that
01:19helps me connect with the people I care about, I think that's kind of the point. If you have to
01:24fly right now, whether it's for work, family, whatever, just being able to stay connected,
01:28get things done, or distract yourself a little, it goes a long way. And yeah, I'm definitely going
01:33to notice the next time I'm on a flight without this. The good news is that United is committed
01:38to having Starlink on 100% of its fleet by the end of next year, but I'd love to hear
01:43if you've
01:43actually already been on a United flight with Starlink and what that experience was like for you.
