A mother and son who died after getting into “difficulty” in water at a west London park were 34 and seven years old, police have confirmed.

00:09Police confirmed the mother was 34 years old and her son just seven.
00:14Officers were called to the park just before 4.30pm on Saturday,
00:19where the mother and son were later recovered from the water.
00:23Both died at the scene and the Metropolitan Police said on Sunday evening
00:28further inquiries carried out by officers into the incident
00:32have established it was a tragic accident and the deaths of the woman and child
00:38who very sadly lost their lives are being treated as non-suspicious.
00:44Police said that the next of kin have been informed
00:47and are being supported by specialist officers.
00:51They added this is understandably an incredibly difficult time for the family
00:56and they have requested that their privacy be respected.
01:00On Saturday, Detective Superintendent Pete Fakhre from the Met's West Area Command Unit
01:08acknowledged the efforts of the first responders and members of the public
01:13who did their very best in what he described as an incredibly challenging situation.
01:18In a post on X, John Bull, Liberal Democrat councillor for Ealing Common
01:24said his thoughts go out to the family of those involved.
