How important are pets to your wellbeing? Do you think owning a pet has become too expensive? Are pets part of the family or something different?

00:00For my well-being, it's been very important. I've waited 40 years because I've worked and I don't agree with
00:05leaving a dog more than eight hours.
00:07And now, after 40 years, I've got myself a white Alsatian. His name's Jimbo. And he's gorgeous. Yeah, he's gorgeous.
00:13He's stunning.
00:14So I've got two Sharpies and they are five now. They were five at the beginning of April.
00:20And even though they drag me round the bend most days with the barking, they are my babies.
00:27I've got two cats. I've got an elderly cat who's blind. That's both rescued and he's fine.
00:36And a new kitten in October that was rescued as well. So, yeah, for me said pets, for me said
00:45cats, really.
00:46Because they're not judgmental. They just love you. And so they are important. Yeah, I like, I like.
00:55I've got an Australian Labradoodle called CJ. He's coming up to six. I'm sure he's got ADHD or something. He's
01:04been expelled from many places.
01:06But it's my life. Never had a dog in my life. And I got him when my husband died. And
01:13he was my soulmate. He was my lifesaver.
01:17But sadly, the breed that he was, King Charles, they do suffer with the heart. So he died 18 months
01:25ago, wasn't it?
01:26Yes. But I won't get another dog. A mammy friend's dog.
