00:08Spy thrillers are kind of having a moment again, and it's not just in movies, but especially
00:13on streaming platforms, because a bunch of recent shows have managed to grab global attention
00:18in a big way. Series like Slow Horses, Citadel, The Agency, and Black Doves have all found
00:25strong audiences, and they've helped keep the genre fresh, because they explore espionage
00:30from slightly different angles. Some lean into realism, others go big and cinematic,
00:36and a few mix in humor or character-driven drama, so there's a whole bunch of variety
00:40for viewers who enjoy spy stories. But even though these newer shows are doing
00:45well and expanding what the genre can be, there's still one name that tends to dominate
00:50the conversation whenever espionage comes up, and that's James Bond. That's partly
00:55because Bond has been around for so long and has built this larger-than-life reputation
01:00over decades, but it's also because the character continues to evolve with each new era. Even
01:06when smaller or experimental projects try to play around with the idea of a suave secret
01:11agent like the comedy series Bait, they're often doing it with Bond as a reference point
01:16in the background. But while those smaller screen takes can be fun and creative, the character
01:22really comes alive on the big screen, because that's where the scale, action, and spectacle feel
01:27the most impactful. Over the years, the Bond films have turned into major box office events,
01:32and that reputation hasn't faded, even though there's currently a bit of a pause as the franchise
01:38figures out its next move. Since Daniel Craig stepped away from the role after no time to die,
01:44fans have been waiting for news about who will take over next. But although that announcement
01:49still hasn't come yet, the franchise isn't just sitting still, because it's finding other ways to
01:54keep the momentum going while the next film slowly comes together. One of the more interesting ways it's
02:00doing that is through a brand new novel. The upcoming book, King Zero, the new James Bond novel,
02:06is written by Charlie Higson, who already has a strong connection to the Bond universe because of his
02:11Young Bond series that explored the character's teenage years. That background matters because
02:17it means he understands the tone and legacy of the character, even though he's also willing to bring
02:23something new into the mix. The novel is set to release on September 24, 2026, and from what's been
02:30revealed so far, it sounds like it's going to lean heavily into classic Bond-style storytelling.
02:36The plot follows Bond as he travels across different parts of the world, trying to piece together clues
02:42linked to a major secret, and the stakes are high right from the start because the story kicks off
02:47with the murder of an agent in the Saudi desert. That kind of setup immediately gives it that classic
02:53espionage feel where danger is everywhere and nothing is ever as simple as it first appears. The villain,
03:00known as King Zero, is being described as something completely different from what fans have seen
03:05before, which is interesting because Bond stories often depend on having a memorable antagonist. A
03:11strong villain can define the tone of the entire narrative, so the promise of a unique one suggests
03:17the book might take some creative risks while still staying grounded in the familiar structure of a
03:22Bond adventure. What's also notable is that this novel will arrive well before the next Bond film
03:28hits theaters, so in a way, it's helping fill that gap for fans who are eager for more content.
03:33At the same time, the cinematic side of things is moving forward, even if it's happening a bit more
03:39quietly. After Amazon MGM Studios gained control of the franchise, they brought in Denis Villeneuve to
03:46direct the next installment, which is a pretty big deal because his work on films like Dune showed that he
03:52knows how to handle large-scale, visually impressive storytelling. Even so, there's still a lot we
03:58don't know about the upcoming Bond movie. There's no official title yet, no confirmed release date,
04:04no clear plot details, and most importantly, no confirmed lead actor. Because of that, the project has
04:11become a magnet for rumors, and speculation keeps growing because people are constantly trying to guess
04:17who might step into the role next. A whole bunch of actors have been mentioned as possible candidates,
04:23including Callum Turner, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Jacob E. Lordi, among others. Each of them brings
04:29something different, whether it's experience, charisma, or a certain physical presence that could fit the Bond
04:35image. But none of those names have been confirmed, so for now, it's all just part of the ongoing guessing
04:40game.
04:42While fans wait for official news about the next film, there are at least a couple of major releases
04:47in 2026 that they can look forward to. One is the King Zero novel, which continues the literary side
04:54of Bond's legacy, and the other is Dune Part III, which isn't directly connected to Bond, but will give
05:01audiences another chance to see how Villeneuve handles large-scale storytelling. That matters, because his
05:07approach to that film could offer hints about how he might shape the next Bond movie. At the same time,
05:14the search for the next 007 has taken an interesting turn with the emergence of a much younger contender.
05:20According to reports, Lewis Partridge is being considered for the role, and if that actually
05:25happens, it would mark a huge shift because he's only 22 years old. That's significantly younger than
05:32previous actors who have played Bond, which suggests the franchise might be looking to reinvent the
05:37character in a more youthful way. To put that into perspective, earlier Bond actors were all older
05:44when they took on the role. Sean Connery was in his early 30s, Daniel Craig was closer to 40, and
05:50others
05:50like Pierce Brosnan and Roger Moore were even older. So casting someone as young as Partridge would
05:56completely change the dynamic because it would allow the story to explore a less experienced version of Bond.
06:03Partridge has been gaining attention through projects like House of Guinness, which was created by Stephen
06:09Knight, the same writer working on the next Bond film. That connection is interesting because it means
06:15there's already a professional link between them, and it might explain why Partridge's name has started to
06:20come up more frequently in discussions. He's also known for his roles in the Enola Holmes movies and has been
06:27involved in other upcoming projects, so his profile has been growing steadily. At one point, he even
06:33joked about how he might impress Stephen Knight by casually standing in a bar and drinking a martini
06:39like Bond, which shows that he's aware of the kind of image associated with the character. Even though
06:45these rumors are interesting, they're still just rumors, and there hasn't been any official confirmation
06:50from the studio or from Partridge's representatives. But the idea of a younger Bond does seem to line up with
06:57what
06:57insiders have been hinting at, especially with the repeated use of terms like
07:01fresh-faced when describing the kind of actor they're looking for. Still, there's some uncertainty about how young is too
07:08young.
07:09At 22, Partridge would be barely old enough to legally order the famous shaken not stirred martini that Bond is
07:16known for,
07:16which adds a slightly ironic twist to the conversation. So even though the idea is intriguing,
07:22it also raises questions about whether audiences would accept such a dramatic shift.
07:27At the same time, Partridge isn't the only unexpected name being discussed. Social media has played a big
07:34role in shaping these conversations, and sometimes fan suggestions gain traction in surprising ways.
07:40For example, Vincent D'Onofrio has publicly supported the idea of Artie Frushan as Bond after seeing
07:47comparisons online. Frushan, who appears in Daredevil Born Again, has a certain calm and composed presence
07:54that fits the traditional Bond image, even though he often plays more morally complex or villainous characters.
08:01Fans have pointed out that his style, accent, and demeanor could translate well into the role,
08:07especially because Bond has always required a mix of charm and intensity. Although Frushan has been
08:13working in the industry for several years, his recognition has only started to grow more recently,
08:18with roles in shows like House of the Dragon and films like Downton Abbey The Grand Finale.
08:24That puts him in an interesting position, because he's not completely unknown,
08:28but he's also not as widely established as some of the bigger names being suggested.
08:33And speaking of bigger names, the list of rumored candidates continues to expand. Actors like
08:39Idris Elba, Henry Cavill, Theo James, Nicholas Galitzin, Roger Jean Page, Robert Pattinson, Fabian Frankel,
08:47Tom Holland, and Jack Loudon have all been mentioned at different points. It's a pretty wide range,
08:52which shows just how open the conversation still is. But no matter who ends up getting the role,
08:57one thing is clear, stepping into Bond's shoes after Daniel Craig won't be easy. From his debut
09:04in Casino Royale to his final appearance in No Time to Die, Craig helped redefine the character for
09:10a modern audience, giving him more depth and emotional weight. And that wraps up today's video.
