00:01And we thank you for joining us as we pay tribute to one of our favorite
00:07forever Giants. For more than a decade this giant was a constant in San Francisco.
00:12A player whose quiet excellence and steady presence helped define one of
00:17the most successful eras in franchise history. You've known him with many
00:22different names including the baby giraffe or simply the captain. Brandon
00:27belt leaves behind a legacy of consistency. I wrote a few notes down and I'm not sure
00:33why I never look at these things too much but I just want to start off by saying you know
00:40this
00:40is a very surreal moment for me. Never thought this would happen so thank you to everybody that
00:47was out here. Y'all made my time here very special and it's something I'll never forget and I just
00:54appreciate y'all including my family and all this so they can see how truly good of a ball player
01:00I was.
01:01Thank you. On the hill today for the Giants will be the left handed veteran Robbie Ray. Robbie Ray 34
01:06years
01:06of age 6 2 20 pounder. And he went around and that's how this game gets started.
01:16This is poked into center field on a line to base hit for Otto Lopez.
01:21And three and two the count there goes the runner and the ball bounced back to Robbie Ray. He looked
01:25at
01:26second decided that maybe better just turn and get the out at first. So Lopez is in the second
01:31misses off the outside so it's a walk. Runners at first and second with two men going to the top
01:37of
01:37the first and it's the typical cleanup guy now I guess who's hitting fifth today Xavier Edwards.
01:42Three and a miss he struck it out with the high fastball. Well it wasn't easy but he gets through
01:48the inning but 32 pitches thrown. Press making his sixth start coming off a really nice start going
01:55six innings giving up one run it was unearned. 0-2 struck him out made him look silly. Good slider
02:01from
02:01Urie. 2-2 from Urie. That one cut on and missed he blew 98 by him at the letters and
02:08Chapman strikes out
02:08swinging. There are two men gone. 2-2 to Devers again way late on a heater at 99 miles an
02:16hour
02:16and Urie Perez strikes out three in a scoreless bottom of the first. Schmidt in the batter's box
02:22one for four in the game last night hitting 280. Swings and muscles want to bloop into shallow left
02:27field falling falling falling and in there it skips over the top of the sliding stowers it's retrieved
02:35in and then the throw to second and for the second day in a row Casey Schmidt aggressively turning
02:43second and getting thrown out at second. So he just hit a double but they and they threw in behind
02:49him at second base. Now here is Jung-Hoo Lee and he belts one into deep right center field way
02:54back
02:54there still going and it's into the sixth archway. He's digging for second and is there with a stand up
03:01double. The Giants get a bloop double from Schmidt and now a shot into the gap and man Jung-Hoo
03:08Lee is
03:08really swinging the bat well. Back-to-back doubles for the Giants here in the second but they still
03:13have not yet scored a run. Blown right by Ramos 100 miles an hour upstairs. 0-2 again to Gilbert.
03:21That one ripped into center field hanging up though Ruiz drifting back. He leaps up and he makes the catch.
03:27Ruiz misjudged that baseball. He saved it at the tail end. Ruiz was working in
03:34into his left. He had to leap up and snare that ball above eye level.
03:412-1. Augustine laces into right field. That is in for a base hit. An opposite field single.
03:46Second hit for the Marlins today. He's not going anywhere. Not a big lead. Oh! Sandy! Sandy!
03:55Come on! Yeah, I gotta pay Agustin.
03:59Yeah, that's a hundred dollar over there.
04:02Wow! You might have to take him out to dinner tonight.
04:04Yeah, yeah.
04:05Well, as soon as Ray turned his head, he went off. I mean, he didn't wait for first move.
04:09That one misses off the plate away for ball four. So Norby draws his second walk of the afternoon
04:14against Ray. It'll be X who did strike out on a fastball up his first time up.
04:19So here's the check swing. And that's a base hit over the head of Devers and Wright. Here comes
04:24Augustine Ramirez. Here comes a throw from Lee. And it's not in time. A check swing. RBI two out
04:32single for Xavier Edwards. And the Marlins have broke the ice leading one nothing.
04:39Well, fastball in. And this is just excuse me. He didn't even check swing. If that would have been
04:43checked at first, it would have been no swing. And there goes X. And they are not even going to
04:48attempt to throw. He can take second standing up. Three and two the count. To Hernandez. The pitch.
04:53Ground ball to short. Fielded by Adamas. And he throws him out at first. So now two down. And here
05:01is Jung-Hoo Lee. Lee hit a long one out into deep right center for a double. Cut off. There's
05:07a swing.
05:08Line ride. Left center. Base hit. Devers rounding second. Digging for third. The ball is retrieved by
05:14Stowers out in left center. He hurries it back to the infield. A double for
05:18Jung-Hoo Lee. Devers had to stop at third. Well, Ramos. A shot. Marlins play
05:26Elliott Ramos pretty straight up in the outfield. About as straight up as you're going to see a
05:30defense. 1-2. That one smoked on two hops. That gets to Otto. Eats him up a little bit. But
05:36he
05:36picks it up and fires to first. On target and in time to get Elliott Ramos. It jumped up on
05:42Otto
05:43Lopez just a little bit. But no harm, no foul. Top of the fifth inning. It's 1-0 Miami.
05:49So Ray has shown him a couple of sliders here. They've got two swinging strikes.
05:54And this is ripped on a line out the left. And Ramos flags it down to his left.
05:59It's a lead off base hit for the Marlins. And it's the second time in this game
06:03and Ramirez has led off an inning with a base hit.
06:08Hit to right for Jung-Hoo Lee who straightens up and makes the catch.
06:15And there goes the runner from second. There's a ground ball up the middle.
06:19Adamas had gone over to cover the bag. He picked up the grounder with his right
06:24foot right on top of the bag and then made the throw to first to complete an
06:29inning-ending double play. Gilbert may have hit the hardest ball
06:33of the game and it was caught a line drive. Swing and there's a shot at the right field.
06:40Hit deep way back there. Adios!
06:45A laser beam over the Willie Mays wall in right field and into the first row of the
06:52seating out there. And the Giants just like that have tied this game.
06:57And boy, Drew Gilbert works himself a 3-0 count, takes a strike, and just absolutely gets his
07:03pitch and unloads. This ball was maybe an inch or two over the fence, hit out on a line,
07:09and he's coming in with some energy. Get Drew Gilbert hot, he'll wake you up.
07:14That's his second home run now. Now the Giants into the last of the sixth inning.
07:18Matt Chapman leading it off against Auri Perez.
07:23Shot out of the ground, down the line, fair ball. Chapman is on the move. Ball rolls around
07:29and picking it up as Stowers. Chapman's got a double. And that was a loud double.
07:35Yeah, it looked like he got one of those hangers that just sent him laid out there above the knee,
07:39middle end. They had played him off the line and he just launched it.
07:42And I get the Chapman over there with nobody out, so it's going to be on Casey Schmidt and Jung
07:46-Hoo Lee,
07:47see if they can find a way to get Chapman in.
07:49Swing to the, hammers one. High and deep to left field. It's headed for Berkeley. Goodbye!
07:55A two-run homer for Casey Schmidt. What a shot that was. And now the Giants, for the first time
08:03today,
08:04have the lead. 3-1 Giants. And they are loving it in the bleachers. They're throwing popcorn everywhere.
08:10They're having a party. And Casey Schmidt continues to just absolutely blister balls that are thrown
08:18anywhere over the heart of the plate. Headed to Berkeley is right.
08:22And it's too high. Ball four.
08:24Anthony Bender looks ready to go and he will point to the bullpen and take the ball from the 23
08:30-year-old right-hander.
08:31And he'll hand things over to the Petaluma, California native, Anthony Bender.
08:36And a shot into the hole. A base hit.
08:39So now, two men on. The Giants have two runs in and a 3-1 lead.
08:44And now there's two away. And Patrick Bailey will do the batting.
08:48And a base hit. And here comes Lee. Lee's going to score. Ramos to third.
08:56And in the second is Bailey.
09:00Again, not waiting around. And they're coming into the strike zone with a breaking ball.
09:04And Bailey jumps on it. An easy read with a couple of hours. I mean, you're going on contact.
09:11Now here is Agustin Ramirez, the leadoff man. Right-headed batter.
09:18Chopper to third. This would be a tough play for Schmidt.
09:21And he made it. Nice play, Casey Schmidt. Have a day.
09:25Casey Schmidt really had to come a long way for this.
09:27And he knew he was going to have to side saddle the throw off the right foot.
09:31And he shows everybody, hey, I've got a good arm too.
09:34And that is on the dot. I mean, Schmidt was the third baseman at San Diego State.
09:38But he was also the closer on the team.
09:40The Giants with a 4-1 lead as we start the last of the eighth inning.
09:44And Elliott Ramos.
09:47Driven to right. Hit well. And out of here.
09:53Look out for Ramos. He is high stepping in.
09:58Well, and he's using right field.
10:00And that is one of his keys.
10:02You kind of take his power for granted.
10:03I mean, he's the only guy in the history of this ballpark that's ever hit a ball in McCovey Cove
10:07right-handed.
10:09Tremendous hand strength, and he showed it there on that swing.
10:122-1. That one tagged out to right center and deep again.
10:15Hernandez back. He jumps up, and he makes the catch, skipping onto the edge of the warning track.
10:22Really nice grab by Heriberto Hernandez with a little leap at the end.
10:25And there's one man gone on a little bit more hard contact.
10:28And he gets the walk. That's too low with a curveball.
10:32There goes Bailey.
10:33Now the pitch taken. The throw to second.
10:36Safe.
10:38With a headfirst dive.
10:39Throw is on a bounce from Agustin Ramirez.
10:43And Bailey started to go, and the pitcher still had not yet thrown the pitch.
10:48So he actually stopped, and then the pitcher threw, and he re-accelerated.
10:51He didn't rise up there. You know, he hits a lot of singles.
10:53Getting that scoring position is worth the risk.
10:56So, nice stolen base.
10:58Down the left field line. Fair ball.
11:01Here comes Bailey.
11:03Arise has got a dig. Here's the throw.
11:06He made it. Second hit, and an RBI.
11:09Loves that pitch down below, doesn't he?
11:11You know, and he puts the barrel on the ball, even in locations that are just so pro pitcher.
11:18Ryan Walker in now for the 12th time.
11:21And he dribbles the second pitch he sees out in front of the plate.
11:25Oh!
11:26Rafael Devers didn't catch the ball.
11:29And Casey will wind up at second on what should be an E3 all the way.
11:34Yeah, I don't know what happened there.
11:35I don't know if he got a little gun shy.
11:37Casey goes to third.
11:39That is stung into center field.
11:42The base hit for Jacob Marcy, who's one for two today.
11:45That'll drive in a run.
11:46Casey scores, and now it's 6-2.
11:49Well, Marcy will take it.
11:53Chopper, Walker, one for double play.
11:58And that's the ball game.
11:59I didn't think they could turn it, but they did.
12:01And the Giants bounce back after losing last night and a nice win for this squad here this afternoon.
12:08And didn't think they could turn it to the end.
12:08I would like to go to the other side of the Se7th Farmer of Agost.
12:08I am tuned to the Se7th Farmer.
