Forget the Premier League for a second, because the National League is serving up a historic title race. York City and Rochdale, both on over 100 points, are facing off on the final day of the season with only ONE automatic promotion spot on the line.

00:00The Premier League is not the only division that is developing a historic title race.
00:04The National League, home to arguably the best title rivalry of the last five years in this
00:08country in Notts County versus Wrexham in 2023, is running it back this year with Rochdale and
00:13York City, who play each other on Saturday on the final day of the season. You couldn't write it.
00:19Some context, Rochdale are on 105 points, 105 points, and they're second. York City are on
00:26107 points and crucially have a far better goal difference. Now, you might be thinking,
00:31so what? They're the top two by a distance. They will both go up regardless. Does the league
00:35even really matter? Yes, it does. The National League, bizarrely and perhaps even unfairly at
00:41this point, only has one automatic promotion spot. When Wrexham and Notts County both got promoted in
00:462023, the latter had to achieve it via the playoffs. Granted, it's a very fun way to get promoted,
00:52but it's a lottery. One of York and Rochdale, despite having generational seasons, will have
00:57to do it the hard way. It couldn't be poised any better. York City just need to avoid defeat to
01:01win
01:01the league, but are playing at Rochdale in front of a sold-out home crowd. The place will be rocking.
01:07A place in the Football League is on the line. Tune in.
