00:00Uncertainty grows over Eddie Howe's long-term future at Newcastle United.
00:06The manager faces mounting uncertainty over his future at Newcastle United,
00:13despite stabilising the club since his arrival.
00:17After guiding Newcastle back into European competition and delivering clear progress,
00:24expectations have risen sharply under the club's ambitions and ownership as well.
00:31Inconsistent recent results this season and concerns over squad depth have led to increased scrutiny,
00:40especially amongst fans, with questions emerging about whether Eddie Howe is the manager to take the team to the next
00:49level.
00:49Financial fair play constraints have been cited as a reason for limited success this season,
00:55but they did spend a lot of money this year.
00:58A lot of that, though, was funded by the departure of Alexander Issac,
01:02and it does seem that Saga has played a factor in Newcastle's poor run of form this season.
01:09Now, it's important to say at this stage it remains to be seen whether or not Newcastle will actually look
01:16to replace Eddie Howe.
01:17It does appear as if he does have the confidence of the board at the moment,
01:22but that could quickly change if results don't go their way.
01:26One of Eddie Howe's lowest moments of the season so far was his home defeat against Sunderland.
01:32Here's what he had to say after that result.
01:35Yeah, I mean, I'm committed. I'm fully committed to the job.
01:38I'm disappointed in my delivery today and my delivery the last week.
01:44The Barcelona game was very tough. Today's even tougher.
01:50Yeah, I mean, I always, as I said, after the Brentford game, absorb that blame myself.
01:57I don't look to deflect it anywhere. I certainly won't deflect it to my players.
02:00I protect my players till my last breath.
02:05And yeah, I think that's how I look at it.
02:08It's, you know, going to be a tough, painful few days for me.
02:14I think whenever you concede goals, it's unacceptable.
02:17I don't think there's a, you know, from my side, no one means to make a mistake.
02:21No one means to miss a tackle.
02:23No one means to not defend well in that moment.
02:25The lads know the size of the game.
02:27They know what's at stake, so they're trying their best.
02:32I can assure everybody of that, but we haven't got certain things right in those goals.
02:36I think there were two really poor goals to concede, both in the last actions and the bits before.
02:42And that's not been a one-off for us.
02:44We've defended poorly for a period of time, certainly since the turn of the year,
02:49and we're well aware of that.
02:51So, yeah, all we can do, as I said earlier, is return for the first time to the training pitch
02:57to try and rectify some of the errors.
