00:00I am an avid reader. I read a lot of fiction especially, non-fiction lesser, but still I read a
00:07lot of articles as well.
00:09So in today's generation, most of my friends, people around me are not much into reading.
00:14Everyone likes bit by bit scrolls and whatever I write, I write lengthy bits.
00:18And they want me to, people in my college magazine, everyone wants me to cut it short and give it
00:23in five lines and present it.
00:25So it's very difficult like that. So what can we do about that?
00:29Cut it short.
00:31Every chapter that you see there, that book, was actually, initially four or five pages.
00:38But then for your friends, your generation, I squeezed it to one or two pages and that's what it took
00:47most of the time.
00:48It was really hard, just clipping everything and yet retaining the essence of it.
00:56You'll have to do that. If that's what the reader demands, you'll have to do that.
01:00But at the same time, the reader should not dictate the spirit of the work.
01:07The reader, however, must be honored in terms of form of the work.
01:13If I know that nobody speaks German here, it would be stupid of me and actually disrespectful of me to
01:22speak in that or some other language.
01:23Similarly, if I know that attention spans are shrinking, I'll have to give something that you can more conveniently accommodate.
01:37But then, not all writing has to be for others.
01:43When it is for others, ask ChatGPT to summarize, simple, write for yourself, write for yourself and that's very important.
01:54Being with yourself, being truthfully with yourself, be with yourself and in case you have to send it to somebody,
02:00send a summary.
