00:00Were you one of Emily Hart's millions of social media followers?
00:04She's a MAGA influencer slash nurse who got a lot of attention for her love of the president
00:09and her bikini-clad selfies. The only problem? She's not a real person.
00:14Emily is the creation of a 22-year-old med student in India.
00:17The orthopedic surgeon in training who goes by Sam told Wired magazine he,
00:22yes he, was looking for a way to pay for his schooling and got the idea to sell AI-generated
00:26bikini shots. Gotta admire the hustle there. This guy turned to Google's Gemini for guidance,
00:32which suggested he look at the, quote, conservative audience, especially older men in the U.S.
00:37It noted they were loyal and often had disposable income. Sam took it a step further and asked Gemini
00:43for advice about creating a, quote, hot girl for, as he put it, the MAGA conservative niche. And so
00:48Emily was born, but not literally, because she's fake. Now, if you didn't follow Emily, here's an
00:54idea of the kind of content she posted. One post showed her firing a rifle with the caption,
00:59if you want a reason to unfollow, Christ is king, abortion is murder, and all illegals must be
01:04deported. Sam told Wired that he created a pretty simple formula for captions, quote,
01:10pro-Christian, pro-second amendment, pro-life, anti-abortion, anti-woke, and anti-immigration.
01:15The method was effective. Emily amassed 10,000 followers in a month. Every reel she posted got
01:20millions of views, and the follower count multiplied. Once Sam, Emily, whoever, had enough
01:26of a following, they began selling MAGA-themed t-shirts and created an account on OnlyFans
01:31competitor FanView, where paid subscribers could access lewd AI-generated content. Now, Sam didn't
01:37offer a specific figure, but he said, quote, I was basically doing nothing and was just flooded with
01:42money.
