00:04Hunted from above by a golden eagle, this desert hare makes a desperate leap into a deep, rocky gorge.
00:18It thinks it has found safety. Instead, it has jumped straight into a living nightmare.
00:30It doesn't know it yet, but death is watching from every crevice.
00:34The first strike, a viper lunges from the sand, missing the hare by mere inches.
00:50Terrified, the hare freezes. It knows any movement could trigger another attack.
00:57It stands perfectly still as the vipers taste the air around it.
01:10The hare can't stay still forever. It bolts forward.
01:28It's a game of life and death played at lightning speed.
01:34Every crevice holds a predator.
01:40As the hare turns a corner, another viper strikes directly at its face.
01:51The margin between life and death is now thinner than a whisker.
01:58Trapped in a narrow chasm, the hare uses the canyon walls.
02:03It wall jumps from side to side, desperately trying to stay off the snake-infested ground.
02:14But the vipers are lunging from the walls, too.
02:18A snake snaps at its belly as it flies through the air.
02:23The hare twists, leaps and defies gravity, narrowly dodging death by a fraction of an inch.
02:30It lands, and instantly another lunge.
02:33The vipers are striking in rapid succession now.
02:38The hare is forced into a chaotic dance of panic, frantically hopping and darting as fangs snap just millimeters from
02:46its fur.
02:48The hare breaks. It bolts through the narrow corridor, but the labyrinth is alive.
02:54From the left, from the right, the horned vipers launch themselves like spring-loaded traps.
03:13The hare recoils just in time, kicking up dust as it scrambles backward to escape the deadly ambush.
03:22There is no pausing to breathe.
03:28Its heart is racing at 300 beats per minute, but it must remain as still as the stone around it.
03:34But the vipers are closing in.
03:36They can sense the heat.
03:38The air is thick with the scent of fear.
03:45The hare makes a massive, desperate bound over a cluster of ready snakes.
03:54The canyon opens up, but the danger only multiplies.
04:00Is a gamble with fate.
04:03The hare is surrounded.
04:09It's not just a maze.
04:11It's a venomous minefield.
04:13One wrong move, one brush against the sand, and the strike will be faster than the eye can follow.
04:22Vipers are popping out of holes in the rock face like a twisted game of whack-a-mole.
04:27The hare is exhausted, pushed to its physical limit.
04:32It reaches the very edge of a massive cliff.
04:35But even here, at the precipice, there is no peace.
04:45Behind it, a sea of venom.
04:47Below it, the abyss.
05:10A viper coils on a rock ledge.
05:13The viper strikes.
05:15It launches its full body at the hare at the edge of the abyss.
05:24But for every snake it dodges, ten more wait in the shadows.
05:29There is no end to them.
05:43With nowhere left to run, and gravity taking over,
05:47the hare plunges into the deep abyss.
05:49A shocking, fatal fall.
05:52The labyrinth of vipers has finally claimed its victim.
05:56In this brutal desert canyon, there are no happy endings.
06:01Desert snakes include vipers, cobras, racers, sand boas, and many small burrowing species.
06:10They live in hot, dry places such as dunes, rocky plains, scrub deserts, wadis, and sparse grasslands.
06:26Most avoid extreme daytime heat by hiding under rocks, in burrows, or beneath sand.
06:32Then becoming active at dusk or night.
06:41Many rely on camouflage, patience, and sudden ambush strikes.
06:46While others actively hunt lizards, rodents, birds, eggs, or insects.
06:57Venomous species use toxins to subdue prey.
07:00Non-venomous species usually seize and swallow prey whole, and some constrict it first.
07:09Snakes reproduce through internal fertilization.
07:17Many species lay eggs in sheltered places, while others give birth to live young, an advantage in harsh environments.
07:28Hatchlings are independent from birth.
07:30Some species sidewind on loose sand to move and conserve energy.
07:42Desert snakes are not aggressive by nature.
07:44Most prefer escape, warning displays, or stillness unless threatened.
07:52In severe landscapes, their survival depends on heat management, efficient hunting, and careful concealment.

08:00I'm a human warrior.
08:00It's our center.
08:00We know there are a few different types of activity.
08:00So, we don't forget.
