43:47but for those of you who don't know it
43:49here's the short version
43:52my parents were both junior hockey coaches
43:56and they were hit by a drunk driver
43:59when i was 12 years old
44:01mercifully for them
44:03they died instantly
44:05mercifully for me
44:07the saint thomas scholarships existed
44:11i didn't have anybody else to help me
44:15i had a lot of memories
44:17a love of hockey
44:18and a huge hole in my heart
44:22saint thomas filled it with hope
44:25the hope of a new family
44:28things
44:28things weren't always easy
44:30you know they never are for anybody
44:32but
44:34in hockey i found what i was missing
44:37first at my high school
44:38then later at college
44:40and now here with the admirals
44:42and i never looked back
44:45because i never had to
44:49the family i craved
44:50the family that i needed
44:52that that i still need today
44:56hockey gave it to me
44:58and saint thomas gave me hockey
45:02so from the bottom of my heart
45:04i want to thank you all for being here tonight
45:06and for supporting this cause
45:08because it's not just a scholarship
