00:00:21We all live in manufactured realities.
00:00:25As soon as I look in the mirror, I go, who the hell's that?
00:00:30We all follow some sort of a script.
00:00:33Those prints?
00:00:34Yeah, I gotta look like we're working out or something, you know?
00:00:39All of us, in a way, have a performative life.
00:00:44As a father, I am performative.
00:00:48And in your own wedding, you are performative and on and on and on.
00:00:52And it's part of human nature, of the human experience.
00:00:57There's nothing wrong about it.
00:00:58All right.
00:01:00Three, two...
00:01:01Oh, you know something, maniacs?
00:01:04I'm all pumped up about main event karaoke tonight, brother.
00:01:07I was walking down to meet you.
00:01:10Three, two, one.
00:01:11Well, in case of Hulk Hogan, it would be interesting to look into the performer
00:01:15and into the real Hulk Hogan, if he still exists.
00:01:21You know something, Hulkamaniacs?
00:01:23I was all pumped up about Hogan's main event, karaoke tonight, 8 p.m. at Hogan's Hangout,
00:01:29when I was strolling down the beach in my banana hammock earlier today.
00:01:33They were posing out in the parking lot.
00:01:36They were posing on the beach.
00:01:38Does he lift the illusion himself of being this character?
00:01:44But let me tell you something, brother.
00:01:46Hulkamaniac is still running wild.
00:01:47Now you know what it's all about, brother.
00:01:50So what you gonna do when all my locals start singing and they tear the house down?
00:01:55Just for you, brother.
00:01:59We have to know, is there something authentic, something real, something truthful about it?
00:02:06That was harder than the workout.
00:02:08Okay.
00:02:09We'll see you guys down the road, man.
00:02:11I'll follow you in just a little while.
00:02:12How much has he adopted the role of Hulk Hogan in his own private life?
00:02:20Do you know his real name?
00:02:22Hulk Hogan?
00:02:23Yeah.
00:02:23Oh, I don't even want to know his real name.
00:02:26No.
00:02:26Keep it your secret.
00:02:41It's an awesome shirt.
00:02:42This thing is small.
00:02:44Mm-hmm.
00:02:46Oh.
00:03:02That hip on that side hurt stuck.
00:03:06At this point, you've done so much and here you are just to get out there and go through
00:03:13this.
00:03:15You've got to get a complete circle, brother.
00:03:17It's a job's not done yet, man.
00:03:22You've got to make sure.
00:03:24This is an art form that if you love it, it's in your blood.
00:03:28You've got to get a pair of boots from Santa for Christmas, you know?
00:03:33Following WrestleMania 18, Vince was back in love with Hulk Hogan.
00:03:39And it was like, hey, we're going to jump back in the Hulk Hogan train.
00:03:42And all of us were like, no, like this is, he got a nostalgia pop.
00:03:47This thing will be dead in three weeks.
00:03:53I actually should have quit back about 90.
00:03:58I could have really ramped up the movie stuff and the TV stuff.
00:04:02But instead, I kept going back again.
00:04:05So.
00:04:06You see, Hogan, beating up the people, beating up the Hulkamaniacs.
00:04:1520,000 people roaring.
00:04:21There's nothing like that.
00:04:23You're walking that tightrope.
00:04:25You're beating up the Hulkamaniacs.
00:04:27This business is so tough to leave.
00:04:30And you know, they know I'm a step slower.
00:04:33You know, they know, you know, I'm in boneless time here.
00:04:37And I love it.
00:04:38And they respect that.
00:04:39You know, I'm the last of a breed, you know?
00:04:44And the respect they show me.
00:04:47If I die, I hope I die out there.
00:04:53Everybody always says, if you could do it over again, would you?
00:04:57I would change one thing and started dropping the leg when I was in Japan.
00:05:04My arms used to be really huge.
00:05:06So why would you jump up and drop the leg and land on your tailbone every night for 40
00:05:10plus years when you can use the sleeper hold and not take any bumps?
00:05:14One thing about this business, no one leave unscathed.
00:05:18Every time Hulk Hogan did that leg drop, come pounding on his back.
00:05:22Every time.
00:05:25Those little small things over years add up.
00:05:29You know, I kind of like kept rolling, you know, but I wouldn't have been like this now.
00:05:34You know, I would have been like a normal 17-year-old guy that I could walk around and wouldn't
00:05:38be limping.
00:05:41The back surgeries, the knee replacements, the shoulder replacements,
00:05:44the hands and everything.
00:05:46I was supposed to get three epidurals a year.
00:05:51I was going to get three a week.
00:05:54But of course, that's the price you pay.
00:05:57You know, it would be different.
00:05:59I'd be completely a different person.
00:06:00But would you give up the other stuff?
00:06:02No.
00:06:04Mm-hmm.
00:06:05Yeah.
00:06:07Nope.
00:06:08Yeah.
00:06:09Mm-hmm.
00:06:11When you look at Hulk Hogan, he went an extra lap.
00:06:17Hogan at this stage of his career is incredibly limited.
00:06:19He's old, he's beat up.
00:06:26Shawn Michaels was making fun of how old I was and how beat up I was.
00:06:31Getting old, brother.
00:06:33When I got news for you, I'll be 102 years old, brother, by the time I step into the ring
00:06:37at SummerSlam.
00:06:38And then for SummerSlam, he went out and oversold to make it a joke.
00:06:49It's on Shawn to make the match exciting.
00:06:55Even if you're a giant Hulk Hogan fan, you start to wonder what he's still doing there.
00:07:00A year later, I wrestled Randy Orton.
00:07:03So I had no idea that was going to be the last match in the WWE.
00:07:24And you relied on your physical body and performance for a long time.
00:07:28And was that hard to not be able to lean on that again?
00:07:32Well, it's still hard.
00:07:33You know, it's still hard because you step back into the real world.
00:07:37Ooh.
00:07:38Hi.
00:07:39Jeez, what a short night.
00:07:42What did Santa Claus bring to you, huh?
00:07:46What's up?
00:07:47You know, you have your highs and your lows and then you have family issues.
00:07:51And Linda was on her own there for a long time.
00:07:55That was his life.
00:07:58He was out of the house more than he was home.
00:08:02I've been gone so much.
00:08:05My family, my marriage was already pretty much in shambles already at that point.
00:08:13And he would just sit there on the couch.
00:08:14He liked to watch a lot of movies, just kind of quiet.
00:08:17He didn't like to make a lot of conversation at dinner.
00:08:19He really wasn't like Mr. Personality at home anymore.
00:08:24When you're a celebrity, you belong to the public.
00:08:27And I'm like, don't you have somewhere to be?
00:08:30We forgot cookies and milk.
00:08:32We forgot the answer.
00:08:34Well, go get it.
00:08:35Dad got a Segway.
00:08:41I woke up one day and I was an old man.
00:08:43Didn't even know what happened.
00:08:47I had missed the family unit.
00:08:50The connection that me and Terry had.
00:08:54And say, all right, let's at least do something nice as a family with the kids.
00:08:58Just have fun.
00:08:59Again, let's just do something as a family.
00:09:03Look back at me, guys.
00:09:05No, we're not.
00:09:09And then one day, I got a call from VH1 about doing a reality show.
00:09:17Linduce.
00:09:18And he called me Linduce, which means little Linda.
00:09:20And we were all in the family room and he's like, hey, I got a proposition for you guys.
00:09:25Do you guys want to do a reality TV show?
00:09:28And of course the kids are like, yes!
00:09:30You know, because we saw, you know, the Osbournes and Jessica Simpson and Brooke was all, you know, about that.
00:09:35She's like, yeah, that would be cool.
00:09:37Oh, my God, Mom.
00:09:39I'm gonna cry.
00:09:40Uh-oh, she's beginning to tear.
00:09:42That was a pretty exciting thing.
00:09:43Mom, why didn't you get this stuff?
00:09:46You know, I think it was exciting for Terry.
00:09:48He wanted that platform.
00:09:50I explained to Linda that my prayer was that it would bring, you know, Linda and I together on some
00:09:57form or another to have something in common where we could, you know, be excited about something and move forward.
00:10:06We're in business.
00:10:08Fuck it.
00:10:09All right.
00:10:09I'm down with that.
00:10:10Yeah, let's do it.
00:10:11I can't believe my dad said yes.
00:10:13Like, I'm just praying to God.
00:10:14I'm like, please don't let me wake up.
00:10:15Please don't let it be a dream.
00:10:17Brooke always wanted to be a singer.
00:10:19She wanted to be the next Britney Spears.
00:10:21And he was like, they want to make it like a stage dad thing.
00:10:25Is that okay?
00:10:25That works for me.
00:10:26Yay!
00:10:28Hogan's those best.
00:10:30To help Brooke with her singing career.
00:10:31To help Nick establish himself, you know.
00:10:35So one day he wouldn't have to be called Nick Hogan or Brooke Hogan.
00:10:38They could be the Bolleas and have their own career.
00:10:41You know, I think Linda.
00:10:43Let's see.
00:10:44How do you work my camera here?
00:10:46Always wanted to be in front of the camera instead of behind the camera.
00:10:49Okay, cut.
00:10:53And I said, some of the things that are going to happen, you'll be thrown into the celebrity world if
00:10:58the show does good.
00:11:00And life, as you know, it will cease to exist.
00:11:02It's the palm before the storm.
00:11:06Like he said, just make sure you guys fully are aware of what we're getting into.
00:11:11And I said, hey, I'm down. Let's go.
00:11:18Where is everybody?
00:11:24Hogan knows best.
00:11:29She is really dating.
00:11:31There was two months of having black all over our windows and people running through the house.
00:11:37A big crew, like 28 people in the crew.
00:11:40Eventually, we took the kids out of school because it's just too much time.
00:11:53I realized, oh my god, I'm a celebrity.
00:11:56I'm always used to getting that with my dad.
00:11:59It's weird for him to have gone through his whole life being the icon that he has become.
00:12:04Suddenly, it's happening for my kids.
00:12:06People are asking me for my autograph.
00:12:09We thought it was a really cool thing for all of us to be a part of.
00:12:12Because this was kind of the first thing for us as a family to participate in.
00:12:17Terry loved it.
00:12:17We all loved that show.
00:12:21The Hulkamaniacs, you know, is back here getting my hair straightened out using the pink brush.
00:12:25Hulkamaniac would be over.
00:12:28BH1 was very, very excited.
00:12:30They were just stoked that the numbers went through the roof.
00:12:33Your show did phenomenally last season and now you're back for a second season.
00:12:38But when V.O. killed the radio star.
00:12:42V.O. killed the radio star.
00:12:43I know it was a huge upside to helping Brooke's music career.
00:12:46She was so close to like really making it.
00:12:49We thought this will really, you know, tip the scales and really get her out there.
00:12:53It didn't really do anything for Nick except paint him in the corners of Dennis the Menace type kid.
00:13:00They'd film me doing these like 12 year old antics when really I was like 16 and I was going
00:13:07to, you know, work on a car with my friends or produce music.
00:13:11You know, if the day was a little slow.
00:13:12Hey Nick, go fill some water balloons up and go across the street and throw them at people.
00:13:17And next thing you know, the cops grabbed Nick.
00:13:20Look dude, I mean I busted my ass, you know, to get it so we could be comfortable around here.
00:13:25You guys are spending this money like it's water.
00:13:27I love you girl. Thanks for doing everything good.
00:13:29That was really nice of you.
00:13:30It's tough as a parent to see your kids grow up.
00:13:33Seems like it was yesterday when they were just hanging out at the beach in the pool with us and
00:13:38drinking chocolate bottles.
00:13:40I was working so much the last 15 years I've missed the whole angel audit.
00:13:45They show the soft side of Hulk.
00:13:47He just has a good heart and I love that about him.
00:13:52And he was good with the kids like that.
00:13:56Are you listening? No kissing. This is serious.
00:13:59The really great stuff was the fact that, oh my gosh, he's a father and a husband.
00:14:05He's got problems with a wife.
00:14:06What's up?
00:14:07He's just like us.
00:14:08I know what boys are thinking about.
00:14:10And I was one.
00:14:11And the boys' hormones are going crazy and all they can think about is sex.
00:14:16The audience changed.
00:14:18There became a huge female demo that was attracted to Hulk because there was a father and a dad and
00:14:23a husband.
00:14:24Is that a mini skirt?
00:14:26Yeah.
00:14:27Think miniskirts are good to ride on roller coasters?
00:14:30How old's Adam?
00:14:30Just turned 22.
00:14:3222?
00:14:33They kind of like made things a little lighter than, hey, let me tell you something, brother.
00:14:37And it's a screaming maniac.
00:14:39The version that you saw of Terry was, in my opinion, Terry.
00:14:43It was what I lived with.
00:14:45It was the guy that was not in the red and yellow boots, not putting on a performance for the
00:14:49people.
00:14:49They realized that Hulk Hogan was Terry and I was a normal dad and a normal person.
00:14:55So there was a lot of good things that came with that.
00:14:58But also, you know, the mistakes and the disagreements and the drama of trying to live life, you know, shown
00:15:06through.
00:15:08You're 22.
00:15:10You're 22.
00:15:10Still with you.
00:15:11That's because I love you.
00:15:13You're 22.
00:15:14I would marry you again if you asked me to.
00:15:16Would you marry me again?
00:15:18Mm-hmm.
00:15:18Really?
00:15:20Would you sign a prenup?
00:15:21What would you put in your prenup?
00:15:23I don't know.
00:15:24There's no reason for a prenup.
00:15:25I know.
00:15:27If you divorce me, I'll kill you.
00:15:29It doesn't really matter.
00:15:29Oh, wow.
00:15:31Being together 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the reality show Hogan Knows Best was kind of like
00:15:38a recipe for disaster.
00:15:40Everybody in this family's got that same attitude. I'm tired of it.
00:15:42No, I don't.
00:15:43So where was I?
00:15:45Right where you started. Nowhere.
00:15:47Having your personal problems with your family being aired for public consumption caused all kind of turmoil.
00:15:56Yo, Linda!
00:15:57How many times have I told you I don't want the maid in my closet?
00:16:02Whatever.
00:16:03Why don't you just put the stuff back when you're done with it?
00:16:05I'm so sick of this.
00:16:09It put everyone as a family in a very intense situation.
00:16:14And then when real issues start to come up, you know, you don't really have time to address them the
00:16:22way that you naturally would.
00:16:23We could use the money.
00:16:24You could always use the money. No matter how much money I make, it still isn't enough.
00:16:29You know, I would, you know, come home with a check, a seven-digit check, and hand it to her
00:16:36and she'd take the check and throw it back in my face and go,
00:16:38Is that all you got?
00:16:39It wasn't the old Linda, the happy one, you know?
00:16:42It was definitely a different person.
00:16:44Toward the last season, things were weird.
00:16:48He wasn't my soulmate.
00:16:50I want to thank the master of the universe for agreeing to let me come along.
00:16:55You're welcome.
00:16:55After she abruptly changed her mind and said she didn't want to be around me anymore, so thank you very
00:16:59much.
00:17:01I just remember not even being there because I was just going through so much stress with my family and
00:17:05it was just so insane.
00:17:07I think when, you know, you have fame and you go through struggles and hard times, it's almost like a
00:17:12higher rise and a harder fall, you know?
00:17:16Toward the end, it was like, uh, no more cameras. I need a break.
00:17:21It'd take me about two seconds to pack up my friggin' closet and be gone.
00:17:24Again?
00:17:25Yeah.
00:17:25Again?
00:17:26For good.
00:17:27When we went into the couples therapy, you know, that was all kind of, like, real.
00:17:31Some of our arguments have been so intense that Linda has verbally suggested maybe we should go our separate ways
00:17:36or maybe you should get a lawyer and maybe we should just be divorced.
00:17:39So the words were spoken?
00:17:42Yeah.
00:17:43Are you kids nervous about your parents getting a divorce, possibly?
00:17:46No.
00:17:46No.
00:17:47It's not going to happen.
00:17:48They love hard, fight hard, and it just wouldn't, it's not going to happen.
00:17:51I want to hear what Nick's going to say.
00:17:52You know, I don't, I'm not worried about it.
00:17:54I don't think it's going to happen, but even if it did, I mean, we're so close, I think that
00:17:58we'd all stick together anyways.
00:17:59Are you 100% in your mind out of this marriage?
00:18:02Who, me?
00:18:03Yeah.
00:18:03No, I'm not out of it at all.
00:18:04When do you think you'll be out the door if this continues?
00:18:07I'll probably be dead when it's over.
00:18:10I always thought that, you know, it could be fixed for better or worse, you know.
00:18:16I needed to hang in there.
00:18:17I really don't understand at all how we got here.
00:18:21Why we love so much and still might fail.
00:18:25Out of touch, out of love, and out of place, losing you would be like living without ever seeing my
00:18:30children's face.
00:18:32I stand here before you.
00:18:34Yep.
00:18:39Everything is just ripped, wasted.
00:18:42It is definitely a mess.
00:18:45It's just going to take forever and clean everything up.
00:18:48I do know that he loved me.
00:18:50I know that he loved me.
00:18:51I know.
00:18:51I know that he did, and he was crazy about me.
00:18:53Because being in love with you only if for a second means I'll never live to regret it.
00:19:06He's hiding something.
00:19:08You know, he just wasn't acting like himself, and I knew something was up.
00:19:11My housekeeper came to me, and she said, uh, is this yours?
00:19:14And it was a little gold hoop.
00:19:16I was like, no.
00:19:17And I go, where was it?
00:19:18In my bathroom?
00:19:19Where was it?
00:19:19She goes, in your bed.
00:19:21Well, Hulk Hogan's daughter might want to run her father over with a tank after he
00:19:26reportedly slept, get this, with one of her close friends.
00:19:30She was a person I was dating who was part of the record company, almost like a chaperone
00:19:35for Brooke.
00:19:35Brooke Hogan says her friend started having whoopee with the huckster in 2006, while he
00:19:40was still married to her mother.
00:19:41I'm out of here.
00:19:48I was with him from the time I was 22 years old to the time I was 49 years old.
00:19:58And that's half of your life.
00:20:03I didn't know, you know, why he cheated on me.
00:20:07I'm kind of scared to be out here.
00:20:08I really shouldn't be out here.
00:20:09And I just felt like a complete failure.
00:20:12But when you get to that point where you're not really sad anymore.
00:20:17You're just kind of more mad.
00:20:19You're in self-survival mode now.
00:20:23I came back from wrestling from Germany one time and the house was completely cleaned
00:20:29out.
00:20:29You know, safes were ripped out of the wall.
00:20:31Everything was gone except my clothes.
00:20:38It's hard to, you know, have all your skeletons, you know, pulled out of your closet and just
00:20:43waved in front of everybody's face and humiliated in the world.
00:20:46And then our families just go through all this stuff.
00:20:50Coming and going from the courthouse for their bitter divorce, the Hogan's rarely shy
00:20:54away from cameras.
00:20:58That's not the same person I married.
00:21:00She's, uh, we pray for her every night.
00:21:01It was terrible.
00:21:03It was a very, very tough time.
00:21:05It was to the point where we literally didn't speak to each other anymore at all.
00:21:10And so everything had to go through lawyers.
00:21:12Listen to me, Mr. Balea.
00:21:14Mr. Balea.
00:21:15Mr. Balea.
00:21:16Are you going to wrestle with me here?
00:21:18Are you going to come across the cameras?
00:21:20You had your time to talk.
00:21:21You're done.
00:21:22You are the person that has caused this issue.
00:21:24It made it incredibly difficult for the kids.
00:21:28I tried to call the kids for a couple months and couldn't get them.
00:21:30Nobody would even answer.
00:21:34I don't know if I really want to get into this stuff for this.
00:21:37I just, I don't know.
00:21:39Hogan's lawyers say the $40,000 a month Linda is currently getting in alimony is too much,
00:21:44and they want that amount reduced.
00:21:45They brought a slew of witnesses to the stand to try and prove Linda is blowing all her money on
00:21:51drugs,
00:21:52fancy clothes, and her much younger boyfriend.
00:21:56She was, you know, bouncing around, flying all over with her boyfriend, who actually went to school with Nick and
00:22:04Brooke.
00:22:06And we were talking.
00:22:07I asked him how old he was.
00:22:08He said he was 25.
00:22:09I was like, oh, okay.
00:22:10Fine.
00:22:11Great.
00:22:11He's young, but what the heck, you know?
00:22:13He's, let's go have a margarita.
00:22:15We were dated, I don't know, for like a couple of weeks.
00:22:18And then we went somewhere and I was like, do you want beer or something like that?
00:22:20And he's like, I'm not really 21.
00:22:23And I'm not 25.
00:22:24I go.
00:22:26Now I really have fallen for this guy.
00:22:27I'm like, oh my God, well, how old are you?
00:22:28He goes, I'm 19.
00:22:31Are you not lying about that?
00:22:33Because if you're lying about that, we've got problems, you know?
00:22:37The judge wouldn't let me live in my big house or my little house.
00:22:41So I had nowhere to go.
00:22:44I rented an apartment.
00:22:46It was like in the top of this building where I could see down the beach, where I could see
00:22:50my beach house.
00:22:51It was tough because I could hear my cigarette butt start up in the morning.
00:22:55And Linda's 18-year-old boyfriend would back it out.
00:22:57Well, I do something so cute.
00:23:00It brings a gorgeous day.
00:23:02And I thought, you know, he's not going to know how it feels until he sees it happen to me.
00:23:06He'd come by me and he'd stop where my apartment was.
00:23:08He'd sit in my boat and snuck a joint.
00:23:10And I'd go, that's Terry.
00:23:11Drive by.
00:23:12Go in close.
00:23:12Go in close.
00:23:13You know, I was making all over Charlie and like, you know, just driving in circles.
00:23:18I was like, see, how do you feel about that?
00:23:20It hurts, right?
00:23:21Ouch.
00:23:23And I didn't mean to be such a catty, you know, rub it in.
00:23:27But I thought a little bit wouldn't hurt.
00:23:31It was like throwing it on my face big time.
00:23:33I would have trouble with a guy 30 years younger than me because I'm afraid he's going to yell at
00:23:36mommy during sex.
00:23:40You know?
00:23:40Isn't that so wrong?
00:23:41No, I'm just kidding.
00:23:43Well, I'd had it.
00:23:45It's as bizarre as it is shocking.
00:23:48Hulk Hogan in the middle of a bitter divorce telling Rolling Stone he now understands OJ Simpson.
00:23:54The magazine says Hogan is so bitter, he sounded homicidal saying, quote, I could have turned everything into a crime
00:24:01scene like OJ cutting everybody's throat.
00:24:03But Hogan says the quote is taken out of context.
00:24:08I spent three days with Rolling Stone, you know, and I thought the guy was my friend.
00:24:13He warmed up to me.
00:24:14We became buddies, you know, and all of a sudden, you know, we're sitting on my back porch and drinking
00:24:20beer on the beach and had a little buzz on.
00:24:22When he asked me about OJ Simpson, I said, wow, brother, you know, I've been that jealous and that mad
00:24:28at a girl that I completely understand how he flipped out.
00:24:34Of course, you know, there's that male instinct that you'd love to get him in the ring.
00:24:37I could have even went out and been like OJ Simpson, but I chose not to.
00:24:42But I would never do that.
00:24:43I would never go there.
00:24:45I wish I'd have never done the interview with Rolling Stones.
00:24:47His wife's attorney says Linda canceled her flight home to Clearwater and is now in hiding.
00:24:52And it's terrifying to my client.
00:24:55Did you hear what he said?
00:24:56Oh, yeah.
00:24:56About how he understands what OJ was feeling?
00:24:59You know, I'm happy because I'm 5,000 miles away from him.
00:25:02I went home.
00:25:04I started drinking and, you know, started eating pills.
00:25:10And I just went down this rabbit hole for a couple of days.
00:25:13And next thing I know, I'm sitting in front of my bathroom with a gun in my mouth and not
00:25:22knowing what I was doing.
00:25:24You know, he was down and he was hurting.
00:25:30And I was probably not the only person he could talk to, but one of the ones he felt most
00:25:35comfortable talking to at that time.
00:25:38And I told my wife, I said, I think I'm going to go to Florida for a while and just
00:25:43hang out.
00:25:44I said, when he come back, I said, I don't know.
00:25:54He was in the darkest, most devastating part of his life up to that point.
00:25:59Your wife's divorcing you.
00:26:01And your doctor's giving you fistfuls of pills that would kill a horse.
00:26:05And you're chasing it down with a quart of vodka a day.
00:26:08I hit rock bottom.
00:26:10I gave Melinda 70% of everything.
00:26:13Because I just didn't want to ever talk to her again, be with her, never wanted to see her again.
00:26:18So I gave her everything to get rid of her.
00:26:21And after the divorce, I had no money.
00:26:27I was broke.
00:26:30And so TNA saved me.
00:26:34Hey man, I can't hear you guys out there.
00:26:37There is no single name that defines an industry more than Hulk Hogan.
00:26:43The man, the brand.
00:26:44Are you Hulkamaniacs?
00:26:48TNA was a deal that I put together for him.
00:26:53Hulk was reluctant to go.
00:26:55But he needed the money.
00:27:00TNA formed after the death of WSW.
00:27:02It was maybe a gnat that was kind of annoying around the face of WWE.
00:27:06It wasn't competitive on a financial scale in any way.
00:27:10But it was another place where guys go.
00:27:12TNA! TNA! TNA!
00:27:14What's up, TNA Maniacs?
00:27:18When he first came in, I think he was an attraction, a figurehead.
00:27:22Immediately people are going to want to tune in just to see what Hulk Hogan is going to do.
00:27:27This is TNA's reckoning day, brother!
00:27:31The idea was he's going to wrestle and he's going to be an active member of the roster.
00:27:37But it became very apparent very quickly he was in no shape to do that.
00:27:48My body just had had enough.
00:27:53In the emergency room here, about 3 in the morning, my back went into this major spasm.
00:28:04There were a couple of hip replacements, a couple of knee replacements.
00:28:09As the surgery started mounting up, I couldn't sleep in my bed.
00:28:14I had to sleep in a chair, you know?
00:28:17And if I just twitched my finger like that, my whole back would spasm and tore.
00:28:21The spine should look like this.
00:28:28And this is your back.
00:28:30So you can tear right now, you know?
00:28:34After back surgery number 3, I can't walk.
00:28:38Surgery number 4.
00:28:40I go back in surgery number 5.
00:28:42I go back in surgery number 6.
00:28:44Really getting over this crap.
00:28:47Time to come back and take over.
00:28:50I talked to E. He said everything was cool.
00:28:52TNA.
00:28:54It was hard to see.
00:28:56There were times when I felt really shitty about myself for making him do it.
00:29:02He wasn't doing the basic bits of pro wrestling.
00:29:05All he could do was bleed.
00:29:09But obviously there's a physical limitation to everything.
00:29:12And he showed us those limits in the ring and TNA.
00:29:15Oh my God!
00:29:16Doctors said, oh, you need a spinal cord stimulator.
00:29:20Okay, what is that?
00:29:22They said, it's a battery we're going to put in your back and you have a portable, like a TV
00:29:27clicker in your hand.
00:29:28And every time there's any pain, it shoots an electronical signal to your head.
00:29:32And it blocks the pain, like it gives you a jolt of electricity.
00:29:37His back was in so much pain, I would literally have to go to his hotel and help him get
00:29:42out of bed, to get into the shower, to get ready to go to the shoot.
00:29:46I mean, he was contractually obligated to do it.
00:29:48He wanted to do it.
00:29:50I was taking 80 milligram fentanyls, two in the morning, stuffing them under my gums here.
00:29:56I had two 300 milligram patches of fentanyl on my legs.
00:30:00And they gave me six 1,500 milligram fentanyl lollipops to eat.
00:30:06And I went to the pharmacy, he goes, you should be dead.
00:30:09We have never seen a human being take this much fentanyl.
00:30:14And he was in so much freaking pain.
00:30:19I mean, is it possible for any wrestler to have a graceful intake to their career?
00:30:22It doesn't seem like it, does it?
00:30:24Yeah, I think so.
00:30:29We were in a room together alone about to film, and he says, hold on, I got to take this
00:30:32call.
00:30:33And I'm sitting five feet from him.
00:30:36Yep.
00:30:38Okay.
00:30:41Silence.
00:30:42Okay.
00:30:42Hangs up the phone, and he looks down at his phone, and he looks up at me, and he says,
00:30:48yeah, I just found out there's going to be a sex tape coming out, and I'm in it.
00:30:52Hulk Hogan has been described as the most recognized wrestling star worldwide,
00:30:56but the international superstar-born Terry Malaya was recently seen by millions in a different light
00:31:02after a tape that he claims was secretly recorded was shared by the popular online media company Gawker.
00:31:10And his legal counsel demanded repeatedly that Gawker remove that video from its website.
00:31:16Gawker refused to do so.
00:31:20Yeah.
00:31:22Hold on a second.
00:31:24I got to do one thing the other way.
00:31:25Ha!
00:31:27Hoa!
00:31:28Hoa!
00:31:28Hoa!
00:31:28New Zealand!
00:31:29New Zealand!
00:31:31New Zealand!
00:31:32Ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma.
00:31:35Okay.
00:31:36All right.
00:31:37Who are you?
00:31:38My name's Ken Turkel.
00:31:39I'm a trial attorney in Tampa, Florida, and I represented Hulk Hogan in the Gawker lawsuit.
00:31:46Gawker was a media company that had made its bones essentially violating people's privacy rights, following people.
00:31:53You know, they had a thing called Gawker Stalker where they would find celebrities out and take pictures of them,
00:31:59whatever, and post them.
00:31:59But this was a surreptitious recording of Terry, of Hulk, in a private act in a private bedroom at his
00:32:08best friend's house.
00:32:09Hogan is suing the website for posting a taste of him with the wife of his then best friend.
00:32:14And Terry simply asked for Gawker to take it down.
00:32:18They refused to take the video down.
00:32:20Gawker's argument was that it was protected by the First Amendment as newsworthy.
00:32:24When they hit the go button, there was nowhere to hide.
00:32:28You know, and now Terry Bollier, the man wasn't allowed by privacy behind closed doors.
00:32:35And, you know, that's pretty much it.
00:32:37And there were a bunch of people in the media who saw it as like, oh, you know, look at
00:32:41these First Amendment champions and how dare we interrupt the discourse and dialogue of America.
00:32:46We weren't doing that, man.
00:32:48This was shitty under any, any evaluation what they did here.
00:32:52Gawker's attorney suggested the tape was a publicity stunt, but the pro wrestler laments it was devastating to his personal
00:33:00and professional life.
00:33:01It was at a really low point in my life when I was in a previous marriage when things were
00:33:07bottomed out completely.
00:33:09Yeah.
00:33:09And I was with some friends.
00:33:11I made a wrong choice.
00:33:13And now all of a sudden it surfaces, you know, over six years later.
00:33:18He was horrified at the idea of a little kid Googling him and seeing that.
00:33:25Genuinely horrified at.
00:33:26I was completely humiliated.
00:33:28The kids can't separate the character from the real person.
00:33:32Well, let's start with the person.
00:33:33Well, the person is sitting here today under oaths Terry Bollea.
00:33:36Now as the character, I body slammed elephants.
00:33:40You know, I've surfed on tiger sharks.
00:33:42The only similarities to me are, I wear a bandana on my head as Hulk Hogan.
00:33:47And sometimes I wear a bandana as Terry Bollea.
00:33:52I think for the first time in probably 30 years, the Gawker trial actually forced Hulk Hogan to think about
00:33:58the difference between Terry Bollea and Hulk Hogan.
00:34:01That the mailman sees me.
00:34:03They don't go, hey, Terry.
00:34:04They go, hey, Hulk.
00:34:04So I have to go, hey, what's up, brother?
00:34:06Give him a little edge.
00:34:07Happy turkey like brother.
00:34:10It really makes me realize the only safe place is in the house.
00:34:16I don't know of anyone who had less privacy than Terry Bollea did.
00:34:20By being a big celebrity, if anything in those places where you deserve your privacy, it's actually that much more
00:34:27sacred.
00:34:28That's the entire point of our case.
00:34:32An expert claiming Gawker made millions of dollars when it published the tape.
00:34:36So now a Pinellas County jury says Gawker should pay Hogan $140 million.
00:34:44He wanted to send a message back out that like, look, this was wrong.
00:34:48And he wanted to get his integrity back from this.
00:34:51I think we made history today because I think we protected a lot of people from maybe going through what
00:34:57I went through.
00:34:58So we're very excited, very happy.
00:35:00So during the Gawker trial, he wins a giant verdict.
00:35:04But then the transcripts of the tape came out.
00:35:08And it's what we haven't heard on that tape, a racial slur that has caused the Hulkster the most disgrace.
00:35:14A very strong man learned today that his own words can hurt him.
00:35:19Bollea reportedly uses racial slurs.
00:35:24The person that got very mad about a personal situation, I used a word.
00:35:29Yeah, I regretted because even under that heavy, crazy fire, I should have remained still.
00:35:36I kept my mouth shut.
00:35:38But what I said resonates and has an echo effect and keeps vibrating for years.
00:35:43He released a statement saying, quote, it was unacceptable for me to have used that offensive language.
00:35:49There is no excuse for it.
00:35:50And I apologize for having done it.
00:35:54Well, I've driven the car.
00:35:55I keep hitting the wall and crashing and burning, saying stupid stuff and messing up.
00:36:01Whenever I say I have regrets, it's because I didn't man up when I said it.
00:36:08I never should have said what I said.
00:36:10It was wrong.
00:36:11I'm embarrassed by it.
00:36:12But a lot of people need to realize that you inherit things from your environment.
00:36:20At that point, there was still a relationship business-wise between Hulk Hogan and WWE.
00:36:26So when all the stuff came out, I'm the guy that had a call and say, yeah, we can't move
00:36:32forward here, Terry.
00:36:33So, you know, we're done.
00:36:36The WWE saying in a statement, we are committed to embracing and celebrating individuals from all backgrounds.
00:36:44Your image, your likeness, your name erased.
00:36:47Yeah, like I've never existed.
00:36:49My whole career, my whole life was like it never happened.
00:36:53Hulk Hogan is one of the biggest legends in the history of this business.
00:36:56That's undeniable.
00:36:59But I didn't fire Hulk Hogan.
00:37:04I fired Terry Balaam.
00:37:17He was at such a low point.
00:37:22But he never told us about it.
00:37:27Because he kind of separated himself away from us too, you know?
00:37:33Everything in his life was falling apart.
00:37:41I had been through so many years of craziness and drama and negativity and stuff.
00:37:47For years, there was so much woe is me.
00:37:51Oh, woe is me.
00:37:52The world sucks.
00:37:53Life sucks.
00:37:54And then you die.
00:37:55And then right when you think you're done, the universe goes, here's something else to be grateful for that you
00:38:01didn't even expect.
00:38:05I was at a local restaurant.
00:38:08I looked up and the whole queue had formed in the corner for people who wanted their picture taken.
00:38:13I was sitting there with a girlfriend of mine.
00:38:15She said, you know, Hulk Hogan's over there.
00:38:17We should go over and get a picture.
00:38:19And I said, I'm not going to do that.
00:38:23I've lived in Clearwater for almost my whole life.
00:38:25So he's been around.
00:38:27I just never met him.
00:38:29So I just, you know, I knew he was a wrestler and I knew that Clearwater loved him.
00:38:33That's what I knew.
00:38:36He looked up and our eyes met and there was just like that zing.
00:38:41And he asked me on a bait.
00:38:43I was just, did my second divorce.
00:38:46And it was, it was a rough one.
00:38:49I would speak out loud in my house like, why is this happening to me?
00:38:52Why is this still happening?
00:38:53Why is this still happening?
00:38:54I actually fell asleep in my chair and I heard, I'm putting into a cleansing.
00:38:58I looked around.
00:38:59There's nobody in the house that actually heard those words.
00:39:03So where they came from or who said them, you got me, but I heard them.
00:39:06He said he swore he would never date another blonde.
00:39:08And then he saw me.
00:39:09He goes, oh no.
00:39:11He was just coming out of a divorce.
00:39:14And healing from, I think it was his 10th back surgery at that time.
00:39:17You know, I was still bah humbug.
00:39:20You know, the woe is me crap.
00:39:22She goes, are you just going to keep complaining?
00:39:28Uh, you're right.
00:39:30I'll shut up.
00:39:31Are you going to be grateful for the fact that we're here together and this is such a beautiful day?
00:39:38She invited me to go to church with her.
00:39:42I went to church with her and, uh, actually listened to what was being said.
00:39:49You know, that he gave his only begotten son that whoever believed in him shall not perish but have everlasting
00:39:54life.
00:39:54And I got hooked, baptized, you know, born anew, forgiven for all my sins.
00:40:02You know, that was the beginning of me starting my comeback.
00:40:07You know, she's so dialed in with what's important that it rubs off on me.
00:40:11Attitude is everything and everything is attitude.
00:40:13I should be thanking God just to be alive every day.
00:40:17Some of these people have been waiting 40, 45 years to meet me.
00:40:22They've like stuck with me through thick and thin.
00:40:24Whether I'm a good guy or a bad guy in the wrestling business or a good guy or a bad
00:40:29guy in real life.
00:40:31They've stuck with me.
00:40:32Oh, my God.
00:40:36Look at all the kids that stayed out of school today.
00:40:39You know what, brother?
00:40:40Do a U-turn.
00:40:41Hold it!
00:40:42Hold it!
00:40:43Hold it!
00:40:44Hold it!
00:40:44Hold it!
00:40:44Hold it!
00:40:46We're rolling!
00:40:48I mean, there's two realms that I have to exist in.
00:40:52There's the spiritual world and then this human incarnation to keep one foot in.
00:40:57Terry Bollea was not the greatest person all the time.
00:41:00And the character was impeccable, even though I wasn't.
00:41:03I just loved the greatness of the character.
00:41:05I was ready to jump on the Hulk Hogan train once again.
00:41:10Wow!
00:41:11What a good crew this is.
00:41:15He's doing a lot better now.
00:41:19I'm just happy to be here.
00:41:21Hulk Hogan has been reinstated into the WWE Hall of Fame.
00:41:24They invited me back to the WWE.
00:41:28I feel like I'm home again.
00:41:30I feel like I'm still the champ.
00:41:32Hulkamania, run and walk!
00:41:33And the Hulk Hogan brand is still alive.
00:41:37The immortal Hulk Hogan!
00:41:43Instead of, you know, going and sitting out and watching the sunset every night
00:41:46and each year, being a dog-eater, making me seven years older,
00:41:49I decided I'm going to go back to work and have some fun.
00:41:52All right, I'm going to get in here with you guys.
00:41:54Okay!
00:41:55All right, what's up?
00:41:58Yeah, we're going to get our next boys, guys.
00:42:03Hey, Hulk Hogan!
00:42:05Hulk Hogan!
00:42:06Love you, too.
00:42:08How are you doing today?
00:42:09What's your name?
00:42:09My name's Lucas.
00:42:10Lucas, I'm going to meet somebody special.
00:42:12Terry Bollea, the man, wasn't as good as the character, but the character helps people.
00:42:16In whatever way it helps him, it helps him.
00:42:18That's all I know.
00:42:22What's up, guys?
00:42:25How are you doing?
00:42:27How are you doing?
00:42:29Without you, there's no wrestling.
00:42:31I got remarried.
00:42:32My wife has an 18-year-old autistic son.
00:42:34I fell in love with him, and he can't do nothing but tell the truth, man.
00:42:37I love it.
00:42:39Hulk, and would you like me to have a picture with you?
00:42:43I wish you would take a picture with me, because that'll be history made.
00:42:49So, you know, I want, you know, to be that Hulk Hogan form that they expected to meet,
00:42:54whether it's when I was 30 or 90.
00:42:57Nice to meet you, brother.
00:42:59He's got it, man.
00:43:00You're my hero.
00:43:01Thank you, brother.
00:43:01That's very kind of you to say that.
00:43:03I collect the merchandise of you.
00:43:05Well, you know what?
00:43:06As you're collecting that merchandise, I think your brother should pay for it.
00:43:10Okay.
00:43:11Love you, man.
00:43:12Okay.
00:43:13I really was here for a reason more than just wrestling.
00:43:17Now, something's going on here that I haven't figured out yet,
00:43:19but something really big is going to happen.
00:43:22Yeah, there's a shot in here of you and Donald Trump.
00:43:27Staying out of politics has always been as a businessman,
00:43:30because my Hulk and maniacs have always been Democrats and Republicans.
00:43:34My arms aren't as big as his, I'll tell you.
00:43:36You ever seen anything like this?
00:43:37It's amazing.
00:43:38So he wanted to stay out of politics, and when they'd ask him a question,
00:43:43because everything was about, you know, politics, frankly,
00:43:46and he would be sort of, like, neutral at best, and he wanted to be politically correct,
00:43:52and, you know, he doesn't want to lose fans and all that.
00:43:55I understand that.
00:43:56And listen, baby, you do it.
00:43:58Okay, we'll give it a shot.
00:43:59You know, I met Donald Trump back in the day in the 80s.
00:44:02He's my friend.
00:44:03A lot of people would say I'm completely crazy, but I know the person.
00:44:06I know him very well.
00:44:08I'm not saying I agree with everything he does,
00:44:12but at least he's honest about who he is.
00:44:16All right, just to be clear, this is going to be a little bit of a zoo.
00:44:212016, I was one of these cowards that voted for Trump, that I wouldn't wear the red hat.
00:44:25It's an honor to be here, I can tell you that.
00:44:282020 voted for Trump.
00:44:29I was still the coward.
00:44:31Well, I was afraid to speak out, so I was really afraid to get into politics.
00:44:34And I think he regrets that.
00:44:39Perfect.
00:44:41I was going to vote for him this next time.
00:44:44And I wanted to keep a little profile.
00:44:47But they tried to kill Trump.
00:44:53When they tried to shoot him the other day, I did it for me, man.
00:44:58But I was done.
00:45:00I was pissed.
00:45:02I told my wife this might be a deal breaker.
00:45:05That's something I have to do.
00:45:07Knowing that if I spoke up, that it could jeopardize everything from my businesses to my life.
00:45:14Coming forward for Trump, as an entertainer, you divide your audience.
00:45:19And he was nervous about that.
00:45:21Mike Johnson, Speaker of the House.
00:45:23I've been a fan of you my whole life.
00:45:24Thanks so kindly for all those wonderful memories.
00:45:27It was a lot of fun.
00:45:29Hulk was always very controversial.
00:45:31And that's okay, I'm fairly controversial.
00:45:34I think I've become less controversial over the years.
00:45:37But I'm fairly controversial too.
00:45:39But I don't think Hulk cares about that.
00:45:41And I don't care about that either.
00:45:43We're walking. Here we go. Here we go.
00:45:56USA! USA! USA! USA! USA! USA!
00:46:01Well, let me tell you something, brother.
00:46:08You know something?
00:46:10When I came here tonight, there was so much energy in this room.
00:46:14I felt maybe I was in Madison Square Garden getting ready to win another world title.
00:46:25But what I found out was I was in a room full of real Americans, brother.
00:46:32And when they took a shot at my hero.
00:46:39And they tried to kill the next President of the United States.
00:46:46Enough was enough!
00:46:48And I said, let Trumpomania run wild, brother!
00:46:53USA! USA! USA! USA! USA!
00:46:58He did the shirt ripping. He did the whole thing.
00:47:00And the place went crazy.
00:47:02I heard 20,000 people just explode.
00:47:09USA! USA! USA! USA! USA!
00:47:14USA! USA! USA! USA!
00:47:24He tore his shirt off, just like it was 1985 all over again.
00:47:29And I'm sure having that crowd go wild probably felt like old times.
00:47:33What you gonna do when Donald Trump and all the Trump-a-maniacs run wild on you, brother?
00:47:51Hulk is your all-time favorite president.
00:47:53And I just want to tell you, you were unbelievable at the convention.
00:47:57I like the talk of the town.
00:48:00And we had, by the way, I don't know if you heard, like the biggest ratings they've ever had for
00:48:04any of these things by far.
00:48:05Fox had the biggest ratings they've ever had.
00:48:09And you were the star.
00:48:10Nobody could do what you did and entertain.
00:48:13And we love having you on our side.
00:48:16You're a winner, man.
00:48:17You're a champ and a winner.
00:48:19And I think it was really good for you, too.
00:48:21I have to tell you, everyone was really impressed.
00:48:23Take care of yourself.
00:48:24Thanks, bye.
00:48:31Yes, sir.
00:48:32America's back.
00:48:33We got our country back.
00:48:35How you guys doing?
00:48:37Good, sir.
00:48:38Okay, man.
00:48:39For a lot of wrestling fans like me, it was like, Hulk Hogan should be bigger than politics, right?
00:48:46I mean, like Superman is bigger than politics, right?
00:48:49Because now he's just politics.
00:48:51Uh-oh.
00:48:52There you go, big man.
00:48:53Hawks here.
00:48:54And I could not appreciate you enough for what you did for Trump, too, man.
00:48:57We got him in, didn't we?
00:48:58We got him in, brother.
00:48:59In this new chapter of his life, he wanted to be as authentic and true to himself, not just the
00:49:05Hulk Hogan character.
00:49:06And, you know, it wasn't without some backlash.
00:49:08We did get death threat letters, but, you know, for the overall pro America brand, it was, it was great.
00:49:20I cannot believe, after 45 years, all you Hulkamaniacs are still with me.
00:49:30And I hate to go there, but we got our country back, thank God.
00:49:39So, if anybody here wants one free real American beer, give me a Hacksaw Jim Duggan.
00:49:47Yellow!
00:49:50They said, you can't put your picture on the can.
00:49:53Nobody does that.
00:49:54George clearly doesn't do it.
00:49:56I said, B.S.
00:49:57Watch me.
00:49:59I love you, too, big dog.
00:50:00Thanks for coming out.
00:50:01Great speech, I tell you.
00:50:04Thank God he wanted to let that be in prison.
00:50:06Me, too.
00:50:10No matter what side you're on, there's 50% of the population that's on the other side.
00:50:15I don't believe in discussing politics and religion.
00:50:19You keep your political beliefs to yourself, or you alienate 50% of your audience right off the bat.
00:50:26All right, gotcha.
00:50:27See this place.
00:50:31So, here's the entrance here.
00:50:36Did you look behind you?
00:50:38All people.
00:50:38Brother, how you doing?
00:50:40Good, good, good.
00:50:41Netflix was sort of a coming out party for us.
00:50:44We had just signed a monumental deal to be on that platform, so we wanted to blend past, present, and
00:50:51future of WWE.
00:50:53Where it was important to see people like Hogan there.
00:50:59Welcome to Monday Night Raw!
00:51:03Go to sleep!
00:51:06See you!
00:51:08The Rock has come back to Los Angeles!
00:51:15It's a special night.
00:51:18Monday Night Raw, in L.A., Netflix premiere.
00:51:26I was very stoked to see Hulk Hogan, and he gave me a giant duffel bag of the beer.
00:51:33It stung a little to feel that he wasn't as well received as previously.
00:51:45When it comes crashing down and it hurts inside.
00:51:50We're waiting.
00:51:52We're not the樹ye.
00:52:08We're not the Jubilee!
00:52:13We're not the old lady.
00:52:16We're not the risky characters!
00:52:17We're not the easy characters!
00:52:24I was backstage and I was like, holy shit, Hogan's getting booed out of the building.
00:52:28Did I think he was going to get booed out of the building?
00:52:31Probably.
00:52:33Especially in L.A., where I like, there's just a different vibe there and a different mentality there.
00:52:45You know something, maniacs? I've been in this business for over 40 years.
00:52:53And I said, Jimmy Hart, did you hear all the boos?
00:52:55Oh, no, baby, they didn't boo you, they didn't.
00:52:56I said, Jimmy.
00:52:59The people booed me like crazy.
00:53:04I could have L.A. hate me if I went on Jesse Waters three times a week.
00:53:09Get your Trump pump on, everybody.
00:53:11Great to see you, Hulk. We'll see you at the ball.
00:53:13This is politics.
00:53:15No need to play or hit the game.
00:53:17We're going to a damn blue state.
00:53:19I went, okay, I'll let it ride because he saw Hogan.
00:53:23People were saying, oh, it's because his affiliation with Trump.
00:53:26But I don't know, I felt like I knew why.
00:53:28He made a lot of mistakes.
00:53:30For some people, he hasn't necessarily always atoned for those mistakes
00:53:37or even the apologies were seen as hollow.
00:53:40So many people couldn't look past that.
00:53:43And he's just got a polarizing presence.
00:53:46Those people were waiting on Hulk Hogan to come out and make any kind of statement
00:53:51just so they could let him know how they really feel about him.
00:53:55That night, too much of the artist has been exposed for them to perhaps cheer.
00:54:03Who knows what the truth really is?
00:54:05Here's all I know.
00:54:07You know, I knew it bothered me.
00:54:13Do you want to go out being cheered or go out being brewed?
00:54:15Be cheered, of course.
00:54:17You had to feel a little sad about that, right?
00:54:20No, brother.
00:54:21No?
00:54:21No, man.
00:54:22When I saw how intense they were coming to me,
00:54:25if they hadn't had a knife, they'd have stuck me in the neck with it.
00:54:27So am I upset by that?
00:54:29Are you kidding me?
00:54:30Brother, it's completely opposite of what you think.
00:54:33Bro, I could come back as a bad guy in L.A.
00:54:36and sell out that building with anybody.
00:54:39And as crippled as I am,
00:54:40they'd love to see my crippled ass get in that ring
00:54:42and get strapped and beat and punched
00:54:45and cut my head off and bleed like a pig for them
00:54:47because that red will turn to green instantly.
00:54:49And it's like they would love it.
00:54:51If you're getting booed because that's your job
00:54:53and that's your role as an antagonist,
00:54:57please, boo me more.
00:55:00But if your job is to go out there as the good guy
00:55:03and you're not getting the reaction,
00:55:05that's a different story, of course.
00:55:07You know, I used to go to L.A.
00:55:08and they would cheer me out of the building, you know.
00:55:11Let's go, brother.
00:55:12Man, how's everybody doing?
00:55:15Holy smokes.
00:55:16How's it feel to see the garden with your...
00:55:18Oh, hold on, hold on, hold on.
00:55:19Whoa.
00:55:20But then I go to New York
00:55:21and people just cheer me everywhere I go.
00:55:24Oh, come in here.
00:55:25Run wild, brother.
00:55:27Not everyone in your life is going to love you.
00:55:30You're going to have people that don't like you.
00:55:31And, you know, there's no winning.
00:55:34Was there a difference when you get cheered
00:55:37versus the building?
00:55:39Yeah, of course, of course.
00:55:44In all my glory, when Hulkamania was running wild,
00:55:49the crowd was magic.
00:55:50The energy would just drag you up out of any hole.
00:55:53I saw Bruno Sammartino.
00:55:55I've seen Elvis Presley in there.
00:55:56Nobody bigger than you, Hulk.
00:55:58As soon as I hit that ring,
00:56:00it was just the end-all be-all, you know,
00:56:04where nothing else in the world matters
00:56:06except that present moment
00:56:08that you're in the ring.
00:56:13When I went in that ring, I was not Terry.
00:56:16When I went in that ring, brother,
00:56:17I was Hulk Hogan.
00:56:18I believed it.
00:56:20It's just magic.
00:56:23The Hulk seems to get stronger.
00:56:26That's why I fell over with Russell.
00:56:28I can't understand this.
00:56:29How is this man still standing?
00:56:32And fighting back.
00:56:34Once you plug in,
00:56:36you're in that moment where there's a flow.
00:56:40The flow gets stronger and stronger,
00:56:42and there's just like this crazy tsunami.
00:56:48It's just this crazy flow of just being there,
00:56:56catching the right wave,
00:57:00just staying in the pipeline,
00:57:02and never coming out of it,
00:57:03and just living and dying there.
00:57:06There's nothing else like it.
00:57:08I don't know how to say it,
00:57:10but it's almost like you're coming all the time.
00:57:21I always believed wrestling
00:57:23was the most important thing there is.
00:57:25It was immortality.
00:57:30But I found out later
00:57:32that that's not the gateway
00:57:35to eternal happiness.
00:57:38Do you remember the time
00:57:41when you were the happiest?
00:57:43Yeah.
00:57:44Okay, here we are.
00:57:45Oh, you're holding it.
00:57:46It's all good, Drew.
00:57:47The Hulkster board
00:57:50for a ride you'll never forget.
00:57:53It's my baby.
00:57:54Terry bought me my new baby, man.
00:57:58The hottest ride in town.
00:58:00I mean, I get really weird flashbacks,
00:58:02you know, during the day.
00:58:07Dad, I just got back from his world tour,
00:58:111990, 11,000 miles.
00:58:13Four, oh.
00:58:15And I'll be in the car by myself,
00:58:18and I'll think of something.
00:58:19You know, I'll catch myself smiling
00:58:21like the village idiot by myself, you know.
00:58:24You know, because I'll think of
00:58:25something real personal
00:58:26and it'll make me smile.
00:58:28You're like a big girl now.
00:58:30Mommy, I love you.
00:58:31We love you very much.
00:58:33Look, Nick and Sarah.
00:58:35As far as this human incarnation goes,
00:58:38when I had my kids,
00:58:39when I had both my kids,
00:58:40they were very young.
00:58:41Two babies.
00:58:43Two humongous babies.
00:58:46The young kids that were really healthy.
00:58:48Mama.
00:58:49Here.
00:58:50When Linda was being the best mom
00:58:54I've ever seen
00:58:55and just being a great wife
00:58:57and was steady as she goes,
00:59:00being the perfect mom
00:59:02and the perfect friend.
00:59:03What a total hand bone.
00:59:07And the perfect soulmate
00:59:09across the board.
00:59:10That was probably
00:59:14the most happiest
00:59:15I've ever been.
00:59:18Come out of here.
00:59:19Come out of here.
00:59:20Look up in the sky.
00:59:22I just...
00:59:23I just saw Sarah.
00:59:25I just saw him.
00:59:26I saw him bang on the back.
00:59:28He took off back
00:59:28over the ocean
00:59:29going,
00:59:30God, look at him.
00:59:31He was there.
00:59:32He was bad.
00:59:33Did you see?
00:59:36It's not pixie dust.
00:59:37It's reindeer dust.
00:59:38Run, say,
00:59:39I'm going to bring my hair.
00:59:40Yeah.
00:59:55So we're done here?
00:59:57I think we're good for today.
00:59:58Maybe in a couple months
01:00:00we do this one more time.
01:00:02Okay.
01:00:02Like two or three months
01:00:03whenever down the road
01:00:04and we pick up
01:00:05any little things
01:00:05that we missed.
01:00:07But I think we've got
01:00:08tons to start.
01:00:15Man, it's hard to get up.
01:00:37We have some breaking news
01:00:39right now to tell you
01:00:40about wrestling legend
01:00:41Hulk Hogan died today
01:00:42after suffering cardiac arrest
01:00:44at his home
01:00:44in Clearwater, Florida.
01:00:45Now to the death
01:00:46of wrestling icon
01:00:47Hulk Hogan.
01:00:48A man known the world over
01:00:49who defined the face
01:00:50of wrestling.
01:00:51Hogan, whose real name
01:00:52was Terry Bollea.
01:00:54Terry Bollea is widely
01:00:56recognized as the biggest
01:00:57wrestling star
01:00:58of all time.
01:00:59Of all time.
01:01:00The tributes have been
01:01:01pouring in.
01:01:02So many people grew up
01:01:02knowing and watching
01:01:03Hulk Hogan
01:01:04and then fans have been
01:01:05coming in a steady stream
01:01:06all day taking pictures.
01:01:08One of pop culture's
01:01:09most recognizable figures.
01:01:11A larger than light figure.
01:01:12Gone in what seems like
01:01:13such a sudden way.
01:01:15He died at the age of 71.
01:01:1771 years old.
01:01:1871 years old.
01:01:22I talked to Eric Bischoff.
01:01:25Eric called me this morning
01:01:26at 1130 and said,
01:01:29hey man,
01:01:32I just heard that
01:01:34Hulk may have a heart issue
01:01:35and that he's gone
01:01:36in the hospital.
01:01:39Hung up with him.
01:01:40Called Paul.
01:01:41While I'm on the phone
01:01:41with Paul,
01:01:42Paul said,
01:01:44hang on.
01:01:46He says,
01:01:47oh my God,
01:01:50they're reporting
01:01:51that Hulk died.
01:01:57And it's just surreal.
01:02:00Hulk Hogan.
01:02:08Hulkster.
01:02:09What they were,
01:02:10where'd that come from?
01:02:14Where the hell
01:02:14that come from?
01:02:18It signified
01:02:19the end of my era.
01:02:23That it was now,
01:02:24the book was closed.
01:02:27Hulk dying
01:02:28made you feel
01:02:30real mortal.
01:02:42It's strange
01:02:43because
01:02:44there was never a time
01:02:45where I was in his gym
01:02:47working out without him.
01:02:52But
01:02:52it's comforting
01:02:54in a way
01:02:55to be around
01:02:56his weight equipment
01:02:58and his gym.
01:03:03Nicholas
01:03:04just wants
01:03:05nothing but his dad.
01:03:07Only wants his dad.
01:03:09Quick little bit of protein.
01:03:10Sounds good.
01:03:13It was just
01:03:15tough to process
01:03:16all of it.
01:03:19You know,
01:03:19everybody knows
01:03:20he went in
01:03:21to have a neck surgery.
01:03:24and, you know,
01:03:25after the neck surgery,
01:03:26there were
01:03:27some complications.
01:03:30This was
01:03:31the day before
01:03:32Terry went in
01:03:33for neck surgery.
01:03:34He's, you know,
01:03:35we're smiling,
01:03:36he's bright-eyed,
01:03:37and
01:03:40we never got back
01:03:41to that spot again.
01:03:44It was about
01:03:45two and a half months
01:03:46that we were
01:03:47in and out
01:03:48of hospitals,
01:03:50but he still
01:03:51showed so much
01:03:52resilience and strength
01:03:53in those moments.
01:03:56I wish we never did
01:03:57the neck surgery.
01:04:10The thing that I'll
01:04:11miss the most
01:04:12is just being
01:04:12able to call him.
01:04:14You know,
01:04:14it just feels weird
01:04:15that I haven't
01:04:16talked to him.
01:04:17I still cared
01:04:18about him the same.
01:04:19It doesn't go away.
01:04:21I, you know,
01:04:22I wish things would
01:04:23have turned out
01:04:23differently for us.
01:04:26All right!
01:04:27Planned out by herself.
01:04:29But then when he
01:04:30got sick,
01:04:31I realized
01:04:32that my love
01:04:34never faded for him.
01:04:35I still had love
01:04:35for him.
01:04:36I really do.
01:04:37I still love him.
01:04:39It's my baby.
01:04:42How you doing?
01:04:43Good thing?
01:04:47You know,
01:04:48somebody that was
01:04:48your partner
01:04:49for so long,
01:04:50and then to just
01:04:51see him suffering
01:04:52like that
01:04:53toward the end,
01:04:54and, you know,
01:04:56to just know
01:04:56that he really
01:04:57didn't deserve
01:04:57to go out that way.
01:04:59It's sad.
01:05:01You know,
01:05:01I'm sad for my kids.
01:05:05In my eyes,
01:05:06he was always immortal.
01:05:07The child in me
01:05:09always believed that.
01:05:12It's this
01:05:13real size 17 boot,
01:05:16and for comparison,
01:05:18my shoe
01:05:19is a size 12.
01:05:2012.
01:05:23Oh!
01:05:24What's the big feet
01:05:25doing on the table?
01:05:27It's just that big feet.
01:05:28You can eat your cake
01:05:29with those feet.
01:05:29Oh!
01:05:33Yeah!
01:05:46Hey guys, welcome to Cleveland, just before we get started as I'm sure everyone is aware,
01:05:52unfortunate passing of Hulk Hogan yesterday, hard to say there's been a more influential
01:06:01figure, especially on the performing side. No one is perfect in life and they had ups and downs but
01:06:11we're gonna continue to remember Hulk Hogan as what he meant to this industry. His influence cannot be
01:06:20denied and it cannot be overstated. You could make an argument that we probably wouldn't be sitting
01:06:27here today. This business might have gone the way of roller derby or some other shit that didn't quite
01:06:33make it to the end but here we are. So we're gonna start this show out tonight with a 10
01:06:39bell salute
01:06:40with everybody on stage. I don't think it needs to be said but anybody that has an issue does not
01:06:48want
01:06:48to be on that stage. No problem, no issue, no, no anything. I know it's complicated. I do how
01:06:59everyone feels but I think we all have to kind of wrestle with the idea that he's gone and there's
01:07:06so many great things about the immortal Hulk Hogan. Can we focus on those?
01:07:16This is such a shock. You know, Hulk and I have been friends for over 40 years. Everything that we've
01:07:22done together and now all of a sudden it's over. I just couldn't believe it. And I still choke up
01:07:29every
01:07:29now and then when I talk about it. I know tonight when we go on the stage out here and
01:07:35do the 10 bell
01:07:36salute. I know it's going to break down again. And this is the face of the Hulkster that's going to
01:07:42represent the whole country of America. What a great night Hulkster. I know you're probably looking
01:07:49upstairs man. What a great night for you. I know I'm going to be very sad. It's like being at
01:07:59a place
01:07:59with I know my friend wants to be here with us doing this tonight and he won't be. And I
01:08:05know he's
01:08:06up there now looking down tonight, but he's with all of his friends. His friends are down here and
01:08:10his friends are up there, Brian. He's going to see Dusty Rose. He's going to see Andre the John,
01:08:17the Iron Sheik. He's going to see Randy Savage, Roddy Roddy Piper, Mean Gene Oakland. Maybe you can
01:08:25just go to the ring one more time up there and you can just say what you've always said to
01:08:29Mean Gene.
01:08:30Let me tell you something, brother. But let me tell you something, brother.
01:08:36The part of him I'm going to miss the most, it's just going to be hearing his voice every day.
01:08:42Are you kidding? No, I'm not kidding at all.
01:08:47Will the band ever get back together?
01:08:49Nope. It's going to have to be upstairs.
01:08:51Hey, darling. How you doing, baby?
01:08:56You know, Hulk would love this, though. You're here. Sergeant's here. You know, Hacksaw, part of the
01:09:05past, man. He would love this. It still seems unreal. I can't even believe it.
01:09:16I just wish Hulk could be here with me, because I know he'd want to be.
01:09:22He would love it.
01:09:25This is what Hulk always loved his whole life. He loved this.
01:09:51Ladies and gentlemen, yesterday, we lost one of the biggest icons in the world.
01:10:04The truth is, we would not be standing here right now, all of us together, if it was not
01:10:13for him.
01:10:22So please help us honor him now, as we give a ten-bell salute to Terry Belaya, the one
01:10:34and the only, the immortal, Hulk Hogan.
01:10:58We love you, Hulkster. You'll always be the best. Always.
01:11:25What do you think Hulk Hogan will be remembered for?
01:11:27Well, what he accomplished was taking wrestling to seismographic levels that had never seen
01:11:36before.
01:11:37He was the golden goose. The greatest entertainer of all time.
01:11:44The head of Mount Rushmore, when you talk to wrestling, it still is. I mean, there's Hulk
01:11:49and there's everybody else.
01:11:50Stand behind it all the way, Daddy. It's USA and Hulkamania running wild.
01:11:56Arguably the most recognizable man on the planet.
01:12:01He lifted our business to heights that we could have never imagined.
01:12:05Even in the very end, he was now powerful enough to get presidents elected.
01:12:14Believing in yourself, training and saying your prayers and eating your vitamins.
01:12:17You know how to make those fans believe in him. And if you could do that in this business,
01:12:25then you're a hell of a wrestler.
01:12:28At the end of every match, I give him a standing ovation.
01:12:33So what I'm suggesting to all of you is that we give Hulk Hogan his very last standing ovation
01:12:40right now.
01:13:12As time goes on people's memories fade of things he did that they didn't like to some degree. I believe
01:13:19that the last thing that will fade in them is how Hulk Hogan made them feel.
01:13:23In the life of Hulk Hogan, what is reality, what is the real truth? Strangely enough, emotions are always truthful,
01:13:33no matter how crazy and implausible the story might be.
01:13:37And searching for truth gives us dignity, gives us meaning.
01:13:49Hulk Hogan made millions of people around the world feel.
01:13:53Give me an H.
01:13:55Feel patriotic.
01:13:56Give me a U.
01:13:57Feel the rush of adrenaline. Feel excited.
01:14:00Give me an L. Give me a K.
01:14:03Feel elated for this guy that they thought was the all-time hero, but he made people feel. It's what
01:14:11Hulk Hogan did.
01:14:21You're to be held on the way. I can't hear you.
01:14:31Terry, boy, I was just a human being.
01:14:35Okay.
01:14:40But the legend of Hulk Hogan will live forever.
01:14:58Hulk Hogan, the Bugs Bunny, has challenged you to a man.
01:15:02Right what are you gonna do next bring up that half-baked break the fruit cake from the lake?
01:15:08That's incredible 24 and we see that let me see
01:15:32We're talking to humans with the Honkster, he'll rearrange our team
01:15:37Boom, boom, the Honkster, the Honkster
01:15:43We are probably starting to blow through the beat
01:15:47Boom, boom, boom, the Honkster, the Honkster
01:15:52Honkster, the Honkster, the Honkster
01:15:53We're talking to humans with the Honkster
01:16:03The Honkster's in the house
01:16:07Check him out, check him out
01:16:09When the going gets tough, the tough get rough
01:16:13Hey, hey, oh, oh, come on, let's go
01:16:18Hey, hey, oh, oh, come on, let's go
