00:00Recent climate model projections indicate an increased probability, now reaching 79% of
00:08El Niño conditions developing during the June, July, August season, and potentially
00:14persisting through the remainder of the year.
00:18This development has significant implications for weather patterns across the country,
00:24including below-normal rainfall in several areas, which may affect critical sectors such as
00:32water resources, agriculture, energy supply, and overall public welfare.
00:39In light of these projections, the Rio Istipagasa is taking proactive steps to closely monitor
00:46evolving conditions and to provide timely and accurate advisories to guide national and
00:53local preparedness efforts.
00:56This is a critical stage where preparedness action should already be intensified.
01:03Alam naman po natin na kapag may El Niño, mataas ang posibilidad na magkaroon ng drier than
01:11normal conditions na magdulot ng negativong efekto kagaya ng droughts or dry spells in some
01:21parts of the country.
01:23Subalit, magkaranas po tayo ng mga malalakas na mga paghulan sa may kanlurang bahagi ng
01:30bansa during the South-West Monsoon or Kabagans season.
01:36So, ang pag-asa ay patuloy ng mag-monitor ng development ng El Niño phenomenon and will coordinate
01:47closely with all government agencies and together with the public, we encourage to keep on monitoring
01:55and take precautionary measures against the impacts of developing El Niño.
02:01So, we extend our sincere appreciation to our video partners for the continued support in
02:09disseminating vital information to the public, as well as to our colleagues from various government
02:16agencies who are joining us today for this important discussion.
