00:02A showdown between two giants of Western sculpture takes place beneath the Louvre Pyramid.
00:08200 works including marbles, bronzes, plaster casts, terracottas, and numerous drawings by Michelangelo and Rodin,
00:17separated by three and a half centuries, are on display at the famous Parisian Museum through the 20th of July.
00:24The exhibition aims to compare the art of these two geniuses through their shared central theme, The Living Body.
01:07To extend this physical encounter, the Louvre Museum also hosted two dance performances inspired by the paintings and sculptures of
01:15the two artists and performed by dancers from the Paris Opera.
01:31The Living Body
01:32We imagined a spectacle dedicated to duos. Why? Because this exhibition, in a certain way, is a duo between two
01:40great sculptors.
01:41And so it's a showdown that's made by Yvonne Demolle, a dancer from the Paris Opera Ballet, who imagined a
01:57creation in connection, in dialogue with Michelangelo and Rodin.
02:05By bringing together Michelangelo and Rodin, the Louvre offers a cross-disciplinary exploration of the history of sculpture.
02:13The exhibition does more than simply compare two artists. It shows how a single question representing the living spans the
02:21centuries.
