00:00We're having a beautiful, impromptu weekend away at Culbarra Beach on the New South Wales South Coast.
00:06And here are some of the things we've done.
00:09Culbarra Beach is just a short drive to one of the South Coast's most beautiful swimming spots, Currarong,
00:16where you really must take a dip in the Kingfisher Blue Waters off Dolphin Reserve.
00:21A little way up the beach, it's a kid's wonderland in the Currarong rock pools,
00:26and a nice spot for quiet contemplation too.
00:30If you've worked up an appetite after all that sun-seeking,
00:33hop back in the car and visit Crookhaven Rock Oysters, a quirky oyster shack on the Crookhaven River.
00:41The oysters and the prawns are fresh, and the seafood sauce deserves a special mention for having diced gherkins in
00:49it.
00:49Yummo!
00:51The Little Snapper at Culbarra Shops is a Friday night hangout,
00:55with visitors and locals wearing their best shirts for a nice meal out.
01:00We order the Shoalhaven River Black Fish and Chips, with a Moorish umami dressing,
01:05and a Thai-style papaya salad with prawns, which is savoury, sweet and spicy.
01:12You can also order Korean fried chicken.
01:15And if you're in the area for a weekend, take the short drive to Pelican Rocks Café at Greenwell Point,
01:22where they fry up what they claim to be Australia's best fish and chips.
01:27With hand-cut chips and flaky fish, it's certainly up there.
01:33We are staying at The Lull, an Airbnb right across the road from Culbarra Beach.
01:38The spacious, two-bedroom, two-bathroom house has a full kitchen, backyard and laundry,
01:45and you could sleep four here comfortably.
01:48It offers lots of special touches that you wouldn't normally get in a hotel,
01:52like Peter Alexander robes to get cosy in, luxurious linen throws on the lounges,
01:59and a fire pit to relax by in the evenings.
02:02But the best thing about this property is Culbarra Beach, just a short stroll away.
02:08The waves are low and lapping, making it perfect for a gentle swim.
02:14It's my kind of beach.
