00:00Everyone makes mistakes. It is how you face up to those mistakes that shows the character of a leader.
00:06Instead of taking responsibility for the decisions he made, the Prime Minister has thrown his staff and his officials under
00:14the bus.
00:14This is a man who once said, I will carry the can for the mistakes of any organisation I lead.
00:21Instead, he has sacked his Cabinet Secretary, he has sacked his Director of Communications,
00:26he has sacked his Chief of Staff, and he has now sacked the Permanent Secretary of the Foreign Office.
00:33All of these people fired for a decision he made.
00:37The right honourable gentleman's defence is that he, a former Director of Public Prosecutions,
00:43is so lacking in curiosity that he chose to ask no questions about the vetting process.
00:49He asked no questions about Mandelson's relationship with Epstein.
00:53He asked no questions about the security risk Mandelson posed.
00:57Apparently, he didn't even speak to Peter Mandelson before his appointment.
01:01It doesn't appear that he asked any questions at all.
01:06Why? Because he didn't want to know.
01:09Amen.
01:10Amen.
