00:03Wow oh my god families across Australia are drowning in clutter this is what we
00:14took out of your house all of them are desperate for help clutter is anything
00:23that gets between you and the life you want to live Peter Walsh frees them from
00:30the stuff holding them back while Sheree Barber renovates their homes in record
00:38time and Angie Kent brings much loved treasures back to life it gives me
00:44goose bumps it's the greatest oh my god transformation of their lives
01:08the last few years have been incredibly tough for James Belinda and their two
01:13children Aaron and Amy two years ago security supervisor James was assaulted
01:20at work leading to extensive surgery and leaving him heavily dependent on his
01:25family Belinda's been my rock my angel you know nothing's been too hard for and the
01:33same with the kids they just go along like troopers doing what needs to be done
01:37and helping me through the hard times but there is one massive issue threatening to tear the family
01:52apart this house is a disaster zone for me there's clutter mess boxes everywhere I
02:00don't want a trip I want to be able to move around my house safely the majority of the
02:07stuff is mums she's got a lot of crafting items in the house and it's just frustrating
02:16I want to have people I want to have friends I want to have family around but I'm too embarrassed
02:20and I get extremely pissed off mum and I we get into some screaming battles
02:26the clutter causes conflict quite a bit of the time but in between work as a nurse and helping James
02:34come the end of the day I'm too tired to pack up and clean up properly we're all sick of
02:40the clutter so
02:41we need help because we're at breaking point
02:53looking after injured family members can be time-consuming and exhausting leaving
02:58little capacity for much else and for healthcare hero Belinda it's meant the
03:03state of the house has gotten so out of control it's causing a major collision of
03:08conflict and clutter
03:12James, Belinda, hey how are you?
03:14So we hear there might be a little bit of a clutter issue
03:17Absolutely, okay let's go, come on in guys, good
03:24Wow
03:26Okay
03:29There is quite a bit of clutter
03:32Well hello, hey guys
03:34I'm Amy
03:35And I'm Aaron
03:35Great to meet you
03:36So talk to us Belinda, what are we looking at here?
03:39There's a lot of craft stuff in here
03:41Are you the crafter?
03:42I'm the crafter
03:43How long has the clutter been like this?
03:45Probably 12 to 15 years
03:47But ever since dad's injury we've had more clutter inside the house building up
03:53So James, what's the story? What's happening with you?
03:55About two years ago I was assaulted at work
03:58Okay
04:00I was security supervisor at one of the retail outlets
04:04Where an irate individual hit me so hard that he pushed my nerve hard up against my neck muscle
04:14I underwent a neck infusion which was to remove three discs from my neck
04:20Wow okay that's serious stuff
04:22I've got a wire cage held by eight screws in my neck
04:27I've had two surgeries on my left arm so I'm limited to what I can do and I can't work
04:34anymore
04:34Wow that's enormous
04:36You've been through the ringer
04:37So has that had an impact on the family?
04:40Yeah
04:40Dad's been very reliant on all of us to help him drive him to places such as you know rehab
04:46and doctor's appointments
04:47Okay
04:48And I'm a nurse so you know working and then coming home and having to attend to his personal needs
04:56takes up a lot of time
04:57In the days that I don't work I am trying to find some me time hence craft stuff everywhere
05:06I can't help but notice this craft room can I check this out?
05:11Absolutely
05:14Wow
05:17I do certain crafts for myself because it helps with my emotional and mental health
05:23I also make cards and things out of resin to sell
05:29When I see people that have actually purchased my made products it's a good feeling
05:35There's every possible thing you can imagine back here
05:39But I see it's also here, here, there and there
05:46It's a minefield
05:47This is uncomfortable to live in
05:49I don't like having people over
05:51I think it's extremely embarrassing
05:53Does it cause friction?
05:55Yeah
05:55Okay
05:56There will be days where we don't talk because of the clutter
06:01Sheree, what do you think about this room?
06:04I actually love this late 60s era of house but it's looking very run down and feels very cavernous
06:10It looks like this dark and drab lounge room has never been renovated with its stated mission brown beams and
06:17green carpet
06:18So I want to brighten things up while keeping the retro vibe and create a beautiful new space
06:23The family will want to hang out in and host guests once again
06:27Is there anywhere else you want us to look at?
06:29Our bedroom
06:30Okay, let's check it out
06:31Alright
06:31Good luck
06:32We good?
06:35Wow
06:41There's no soul in this room at the moment
06:44No
06:44It's not a happy place
06:47It's cluttered
06:48But it's where I've got to make myself comfortable
06:51Rest up
06:52Also, I've got to be mindful where I step
06:56Not to trip
06:57Getting dressed, I've got to have my clothes accessible
07:00So that's why I've put my clothes on the tall boy
07:04So is there anything in this room that is making your rehab easy at the moment?
07:11No
07:13It feels like everything has been pushed down the road
07:16Like we can't deal with the clutter
07:18We can't deal with tidying up
07:19We push it down the road
07:20Exactly
07:20This is just life is exhausting at the moment
07:24Just, you know
07:25Yeah
07:27It's been hard
07:28I don't know
07:35It's clear Belinda is wrung out from looking after James
07:39And it's important to remember caregivers need and deserve support too
07:43Yes, her clutter is suffocating the very family she loves so much
07:48But I'm hopeful with our help Belinda can rise to the challenge ahead
07:56To make the house safe for James
07:58And dispel the family tension
08:00The team begin packing up everything from the cluttered rooms
08:04Meanwhile, Angie's searching through the mess
08:08I'm excited to find a treasure trove of family photos
08:12And a beautiful old locket
08:14Plus, I've spotted a stunning vintage perfume bottle
08:17I can't wait to find out the stories behind these amazing pieces
08:24Coming up
08:25Holy cow
08:26The Renault team uncover multiple problems with the ageing property
08:30Oh my god
08:42Okay
08:43Drop your other stuff in there please
08:45Peter is helping Aaron, Amy and their parents, James and Belinda, pack up their house
08:53The pressure of caring for James
08:55As he recovers from a workplace assault and injury
08:58Has led to out of control clutter
09:00Causing huge tension within the family
09:04Watching everything leaving the house
09:07It's overwhelming
09:08The hardest part for me is going to be
09:12Parting with a lot of my craft stuff
09:14Because that's my haven
09:17Mum is definitely attached to a lot of things
09:20Which is why this is going to be so hard for her
09:25As the team put aside furniture the homeowners want to keep
09:29Everything else is loaded into the last van
09:32And taken to the Space Invaders warehouse
09:37Where an army of movers arrange it all into categories
09:41So the family can confront their massive problem
09:50Belinda, James, Amy, Aaron
09:52On the count of three
09:54I want you to have a look at just how much stuff we gathered from around your house
10:00One, two, three
10:03Open your eyes
10:05Holy
10:06Oh my god
10:08That is a lot of stuff
10:13Oh my god
10:16That's ridiculous
10:17Oh, far out
10:20I don't know what to say
10:23I'm just gobsmacked
10:26All of this took 350 boxes to get here
10:34I knew we were cluttered
10:36But this is an avalanche
10:38So much
10:41Let me just show you what you have here
10:45First up, we have all of the media
10:47DVDs, CDs, books
10:49Holy moly
10:51On this table we have all of your photos
10:54Memorabilia and some office stuff
10:56Jeez
10:57Then this is the biggest single category of items that we have
11:02Four long rows of craft stuff
11:06Knowing that I lived amongst all of this is ridiculous
11:10Then your clothes, James
11:12And your clothes here, Belinda
11:15Plus four hanging racks as well
11:18I'm going to have a heart attack
11:19Then all of this furniture here behind us
11:23And three tables of glassware, kitchenware and other household items
11:28That were kind of hidden in the living room
11:30That's a lot of stuff
11:34You have to let go of at least 60% of what you see here
11:39So that you create the kind of home that you want
11:43Yeah, I want more than 60% of this clutter gone
11:46Because it's embarrassing to live in this
11:51Well together we're going to get you back on track
11:53Yeah
11:54We definitely need to get rid of some of this stuff
11:57Good, let's go
11:57Come with me
11:58Let's get started
12:01Over at the family's cleared out home
12:03Cherie is working out her plan of attack
12:07I need to give the dated L-shaped lounge room a big makeover
12:11So the family can spend time together and host guests
12:15Transform Belinda's dysfunctional craft room into an organised space
12:20And overhaul the daggy main bedroom
12:22And hard to use walk-in robe
12:24Creating a relaxing haven for James to recover from his injuries
12:28All that in just two days
12:33But as the main bedroom demolition gets underway
12:37Oh shit, that's almost falling off
12:39Cherie discovers a problem hiding behind the old wood panelling
12:44Holy cow
12:45God, look at all that glue
12:48This mess dates back to when the house was built in the 1960s
12:51And it's a real pain
12:53As I'm hoping to cover it with bright new feature wall panels
12:57It's going to be a bit of work trying to get that 60-year-old glue off
13:00Yeah, just get it all nice and flush
13:01Well, it needs to be to put the panelling on it
13:05Ripping out the old wood is the easy part
13:07But then removing the hundreds of lumps of rock-hard glue
13:10It's going to take ages
13:13Because our only solution is to grind it all off one by one
13:19While the team chip away at the problem
13:25Cherie tackles the outdated flooring in the lounge and craft room
13:29This carpet has also been here for decades
13:32And it's completely worn out
13:34So I want to replace it with gorgeous new floorboards
13:38But immediately, Cherie notices a new issue
13:42Oh my god
13:43Turns out the slab is not level at all
13:46And slopes down towards the walls
13:48So I'm now forced to shut down the reno in this side of the house
13:52So we can pour levelling compound
13:54To create a flat surface for new flooring to go on top
13:58So in the meantime
14:00I'm hitting the shops to select the new planks
14:04Could you tell me a little bit more about this board?
14:07Very scratch-resistant
14:08Easy to maintain
14:09And very family-friendly
14:10I love the colour
14:11So I think this is the one
14:12Perfect
14:21Back at the warehouse
14:23Belinda's trying to reduce her massive collection of hobby materials
14:26Which spilled out of her craft room
14:28And into the rest of the house
14:32God, no, I'm keeping that
14:34But she's struggling to let much go
14:37These are projects in the making
14:39I need to keep that
14:41These are for the market stuff I'm doing
14:43Go on
14:44Oh my god
14:46How are you feeling right now?
14:48I'm feeling very anxious
14:49Because I'm gonna
14:51I honestly believe I'm gonna need more room
14:53The thing is
14:55The craft room sets the limit
14:57And the moment you don't respect
14:58The limit of the room
15:00What happens?
15:01It causes frustration for everybody
15:03And it spreads throughout the house
15:04That's it
15:05So that means setting limits here
15:07So let's keep going
15:08Um, yep
15:09I need to keep those
15:10Because they're already stuff printed out
15:12Okay
15:16You don't have time to open these, though
15:18You've got to keep moving
15:20Well, I'll store it in the shed if I have to
15:23No, you won't store it in the shed
15:28This amount of stuff
15:30Is creating a rift between you and your family
15:33It's creating a health hazard for your husband
15:38So you have to scale back
15:44I don't know how
15:48I can see Belinda's getting stressed out
15:50And starting to shut down
15:52And frankly, I'm trying my hardest not to freak out
15:55There are a colossal 16 tables worth of craft clutter to get through
16:01Which is the most I've ever seen in my entire career
16:06And at the rate Belinda's going
16:07I'm not sure we're going to get through it all
16:11Oh my god
16:23At James and Belinda's house
16:24As the last of the old glue is removed from the bedroom wall
16:28The lounge room floor levelling has finally dried
16:31And Cherie can now tackle the dark, cave-like feeling in the space
16:35By calling in paint colour and design consultant Fiona
16:40Given that we've got low ceilings
16:43I'm thinking that you could go for a cooler colour
16:45Because cooler colours tend to recede
16:48Okay, so it'll give the illusion that the ceiling is actually higher
16:51So it doesn't feel so cavernous
16:52That's correct, yep
16:54So something like a blue would look fantastic
16:56Ooh, that's very adventurous
16:58It is, it's just a little bit of colour though
16:59Okay
17:00And then I want one feature wall colour
17:02Complementary colour to blue
17:03Why not go yellow?
17:05These bold colour choices are certainly a huge risk
17:08But I really want to embrace the retro vibe of this home
17:12I just hope Belinda and her family like it
17:21While the paint crew also gets started on the bedroom with a pastel pink
17:25Cherie's outside preparing the feature wall panels
17:30I've chosen a modern scallop profile
17:32That I'm going to spray with a shade of blue paint
17:35That'll really complement the retro colour scheme we've chosen
17:45With the bedroom wall now perfectly flat
17:47We can install the new panels with ease
17:51Previously when you entered this bedroom
17:52The poor layout meant you had to walk all the way around the bed
17:56To get to the en suite
17:57But by flipping the orientation around
17:59The new feature wall can go behind the bed head
18:02Creating a better focal point
18:04And make accessing the bathroom easier
18:07Meanwhile, the new timber flooring Cherie ordered arrives
18:10To be laid through the lounge and into the craft room
18:17Cherie, that's a problem
18:19But it's in the craft room that Tradie Dom is worried about an issue
18:23It's also here, it's sagging here
18:25Okay, so that's all bowed
18:27And that's a huge hole
18:29It looks like a past water leak
18:31It's definitely not water leaking now
18:33So we'll need to pull out the skylight panel
18:35And then replace this whole sheet
18:39Repairing the plaster around the skylight
18:41Is yet another big job to deal with
18:43I just hope that once we pull the plaster off
18:45We don't find major structural damage underneath
18:52At the warehouse
18:53Have a look at the stuff here
18:54Decide what's staying, what's going
18:56Oh yes
18:57I'm definitely staying
18:57With Belinda still struggling to cull her craft supplies
19:00Peters called in her family to help reduce the materials
19:04Used to create photo scrapbooks
19:06May these bits of paper go please
19:08No, I'm in the middle of some projects
19:10I need to keep some of them, please
19:12Watch your tone
19:13Your reaction is to automatically pounce
19:16I prefer to discard papers
19:18I'm not using myself
19:21You try and take something like that away from hers
19:24That's so little
19:25And it becomes the screaming battle
19:27We don't talk for two, three days
19:29Not just myself, but Amy and my mum
19:33What's the worst thing that can happen
19:36If you don't have this paper
19:38You've got to recreate and redesign everything that goes into that page
19:44And so you having to redesign a page in a scrapbook
19:48Is worth arguing and not talking to your family for days
19:55That's what you're telling me right now
19:58Like all we're trying to do is kind of help you
20:00And I don't think you're really seeing that
20:04You are making choices for this
20:09Rather than family
20:12Yes, you are
20:13You are the rock of this family
20:15And you are holding this family together
20:16And this, this is your happy place
20:18But things are shifting
20:20Yeah
20:21I don't think screaming and battling over three pieces of paper
20:24Is worth distancing myself from you
20:28Then make that choice
20:35This has rapidly become a volatile situation
20:39It's clear that we're not just battling the physical clutter
20:42But also the intense communication clutter
20:45That exists between Aaron and Belinda
20:47Take a deep breath
20:50Because you two are now like this
20:53And right now
20:55I'm worried that if we keep going
20:57One of these two will lose their temper
20:59And walk out
21:00Never to return
21:02Let's take a step back and come back to this
21:04Step out for a minute
21:05Okay
21:08Trouble is also brewing at the house
21:11Where the damaged ceiling in the craft room
21:13Is being removed
21:15Oh my god
21:17That didn't look so bad before
21:19Now it looks terrible
21:20The old water leak around the skylight
21:22Has completely rotted the plasterboard
21:25But even worse
21:26We've also discovered
21:27There wasn't enough structural support
21:29To begin with
21:32So now we've got to add
21:33Extra timber beams
21:34To create a much sturdier framework
21:36To prevent new plasterboard from sagging
21:39Don't let it fall
21:41No, I won't
21:42While the repairs continue
21:44The wardrobe in the main bedroom
21:46Is being upgraded
21:47This small space was so disorganised
21:51And crammed full of clothes
21:52James had to keep his things on the chest of drawers
21:56So we're installing more efficient shelves
21:59Draws and hanging space
22:00That way there'll be heaps of room
22:02For both Belinda and James' clothes
22:12Next, Cherie needs to deal
22:14With the outdated aircon
22:15On the lounge room wall
22:17This unit is a real dinosaur
22:19The family recently put in a new aircon system
22:22On the other side of the room
22:24So they don't even need this ugly old relic
22:26So we're ripping it out
22:32Okay, that's it, got it
22:34While the aircon has come out pretty easily
22:36Now I have to deal with the whopping big hole
22:39I really want to retain the retro look of the existing walls
22:43So I'm pitting my hopes
22:44I'm finding some spare concrete blocks
22:46Somewhere on the property
22:48Alright, there's none around there
22:54Upstairs at the warehouse
22:56Belinda joins Angie
22:57Who wants to learn more about the old perfume bottle
23:00Necklace
23:01And photos she discovered amongst the clutter
23:04Can you tell me a little bit about this?
23:07That's my grandpa, my grandma
23:09My grandpa passed away when I was 11 years of age
23:13And we lost my grandma, Rose, about five years ago
23:18She was an amazing role model for me
23:22She was just an angel
23:25What about this one here?
23:28This was something that my grandma had actually had made
23:32After my grandpa had passed away
23:34And she's got two different photos of him in it
23:36Do you ever wear it?
23:38I don't because she's not in it
23:40It kind of feels like there's a piece missing
23:44While old gold lockets can be worth a bit of money
23:47This one's value lies in the special memories it holds for Belinda
23:51I'm also keen to find out more about this gorgeous vintage perfume bottle
23:57This was actually one of the last perfumes
24:00That I can recall my grandpa had gifted to my grandma
24:03So this could be, how old are we talking?
24:05I reckon that's probably about 46 plus years
24:08Shall we see what it smells like?
24:12It smells old school
24:13It does
24:14So this is probably something that you wouldn't want to use
24:17No
24:17But we love the beautiful, it's gorgeous
24:21It's just so unique
24:22So when you think about your grandma
24:25What scent do you associate with her?
24:28Her favourite flower is the yellow rose
24:31Because I think that was what my grandfather had given her all her life
24:36Okay
24:38It's easy to see just how much Belinda's grandma meant to her
24:42And as the perfume bottle and necklace have such huge sentimental value
24:46I've got some exciting ideas in mind for these precious pieces
24:53Coming up
24:54Aaron, when you look at all of this stuff
24:57What word do you use?
24:59Can Peter bring the warring mother and son back from the brink?
25:03I want you to get rid of this crap
25:10I want to pick up where we left off earlier
25:13At the warehouse
25:15Peter needs to address the tense conflict between Belinda and Aaron
25:19That brought the craft sort to a standstill
25:22Aaron, when you look at all of this stuff
25:25What word do you use?
25:27I want you to get rid of this crap
25:32When you look at this stuff
25:34What do you see?
25:36This is my escape
25:38This is my mental health zone
25:42And my karma and relaxation
25:45So when you say
25:47Get rid of all this crap
25:49She hears
25:51This is worthless
25:53And you are worthless
25:59That's not what you intend
26:00But that's the way it comes out
26:03It is
26:04It's alright
26:07However
26:09There's Aaron's side of it too
26:11That you have to accept
26:14What he is saying
26:15All of this is a hurdle to our family's happiness
26:19Yep
26:20So you have to set limits
26:22Yep
26:23And you have to watch language
26:26I'm promising
26:27I am not going back to that way of living again
26:31I don't like it
26:32I don't want it
26:33It will never happen
26:34It's history
26:35It is history
26:37Do you believe that?
26:40Yeah
26:41Yeah?
26:41Yeah
26:46I love you
26:50Belinda's made a huge commitment
26:52And it's exactly what Aaron and the family have been desperate to hear
26:56Now I'm hoping with the communication clutter cleared
27:00Belinda can finally deal with her physical clutter
27:03I'm not going to use those
27:06I'm not going to use those
27:07Keep coming
27:07Good job
27:09That one can go
27:12Donate
27:12Okay good
27:13While Belinda's still holding on to some craft stuff
27:16She's now showing a new willingness to part with things
27:19To free up much needed space in the family home
27:23Amazing job
27:24When we started Belinda
27:26There were four long rows piled high with crafting stuff
27:29You're now down to this single row
27:33You're now down to this single row
27:34And 31 boxes of crafting stuff off to donation
27:38Far out
27:40Whoa
27:42I love this
27:43Okay
27:43We've got more to do
27:44Come on
27:44Great job
27:48Upstairs
27:49Angie's ready to give new life to one of Belinda's old treasures
27:53While this locket holds precious memories
27:55Without a photo of her late grandma Rose in it
27:58Belinda doesn't want to wear it
28:00So I'm going to fix that
28:03First I'm removing the faded photos of her grandpa
28:06And to make the gold sparkle again
28:09I'm cleaning it with warm soapy water
28:12And then I'm updating the pics from a newly restored print
28:15To add one of Belinda's grandpa and one of her grandma
28:18So Belinda can finally wear this special jewellery
28:21And keep both her grandparents close to her heart
28:29Over at the family's home
28:31The craft room ceiling repair is completed
28:35While new pendant lights are installed
28:38Along with extra down lights
28:41And outside
28:42Alright let me check in that shed
28:44You never know
28:45Cherie's still hunting for cinder blocks
28:47To fill the hole left in the lounge room wall
28:49When the old air conditioning was removed
28:53Nope
28:55Um
28:56I'm going to do a search around the back
28:58Okay
29:02Hang on
29:04No way
29:05What are the chances
29:07A house that's over 50 years old
29:09Still has various spare blocks
29:11From the original build on site
29:13I can't believe our luck
29:16It's the right size
29:17So you reckon you can make it work
29:19I can make it work
29:20Do I hug you now or later?
29:26While Dom cracks on fixing the hole
29:28I can get the painter started on the surrounding lounge room walls
29:34We're going with the bold colour choice of yellow feature walls
29:37And painting the dated exposed brickwork white
29:40To turn this into a bright happy space
29:42Where the family will want to host guests
29:45While the walls in the craft room are also painted white to offset the pink roof
29:51Cherie's tackling the lack of storage for Belinda's craft materials
29:56This room was a disaster zone with stuff spilling out all over the place
30:01So I'm installing a heap of extra cabinets
30:04Plus we're going to make better use of the room's vertical space
30:07By adding a pegboard with hooks and tubs
30:12Bringing all of Belinda's craft materials into one organised room
30:16Will make it much easier for her to complete her projects
30:20All right
30:21Meanwhile, new flooring for the main bedroom has arrived
30:24I reckon the horrible worn out red carpet
30:28Had been here since the house was first filled
30:31So this plush new carpet is going to feel much softer underfoot
30:35And help create the relaxing space James needs to recover from his injuries
30:53At the warehouse, James is rapidly reducing his share of the clothes
30:58Which were clogging up the main bedroom and walk-in robe
31:02That can go
31:03You don't want them?
31:03I've got three or four
31:05Belinda looks concerned about the amount of stuff James is letting go
31:09You're getting rid of those ones?
31:11Yeah
31:11We just bought one
31:12No, you didn't
31:13But James is staying focused
31:15Refusing to be drawn into any arguments
31:18My pyjamas, that can stay
31:21Excellent
31:21And within minutes, he's filled nine boxes for donation
31:25An incredible benchmark
31:27Now, I know you have to go off to rehab
31:29And Belinda, I know you or the kids normally take James for that
31:33However, I've got a support worker here
31:35Michelle is going to handle driving you to rehab today
31:38Off you go
31:39You, my friend, are staying with me
31:40Let's go
31:52Back inside
31:53We'll keep those
31:54Both of them?
31:55Yep
31:55Pass them down to me, please
31:56Amy has stepped in to help her mum work through her remaining clothes
32:01Keep that one
32:02I don't think I've ever seen you wear that
32:05Earlier, Belinda assured Aaron she was going to stick to limits and let excess stuff go
32:10That one, stay, stay
32:12But right now, she's not following through on that promise
32:18Be tough, okay?
32:19Because we're building the new bedroom
32:22To create new memories for a new reality for you
32:26I just find it hard to readjust
32:29But I have to practice what I'm preaching
32:32Yeah
32:33And I need to do what's best for all of us
32:36Yeah
32:36As opposed to what I want
32:39You know
32:40So I do need to let go
32:42Okay, let's keep going
32:43Go
32:44Good
32:45Go
32:46Just when it looked like Belinda was going to revert back to her old ways
32:50She readjusts her mindset
32:52That one can probably go
32:54And straight away, with a new focus, Belinda is only holding on to the item she really loves
33:00I'm keeping that one and I'll get rid of another t-shirt
33:03And donating the stuff she no longer needs
33:07Done
33:07Excellent
33:08So, when we started, this whole long row was covered plus three racks of clothing
33:13Now, this is what you've kept
33:15Plus less than one hanging rack
33:18And amazingly, look at this
33:20Thirteen boxes off to donation
33:24Jeez
33:25It's amazing
33:26That's awesome
33:27Yes
33:27Yes
33:29You up for more, Belinda?
33:30Oh, God, yeah
33:30Let's get going
33:32While the sorting continues at the warehouse
33:35Angie arrives at a fragrance boutique
33:38To create a custom perfume
33:40To go in the vintage bottle Belinda inherited from her grandmother Rose
33:44Hi, Angie
33:45I am so excited
33:47Perfumer Janelle will be helping Angie craft the perfect scent
33:51When Belinda thinks of her grandmother, she thinks of yellow rose
33:56Because that was her grandmother's favourite flower
33:58We've got a couple of different roses to try
34:02Smell has a really strong connection to memory
34:05So, we're taking inspiration from what Belinda's grandmother loved
34:09Plus the original perfume scent, which I brought along
34:12I'm smelling citrus
34:14I'm smelling bergamot
34:16And combine those with new elements
34:18I think we'll try some Turkish rose
34:21Oh, I like this one
34:22To create a beautiful new fragrance Belinda can wear every day
34:26I think the mix we have here is divine
34:29And I think that Belinda is going to absolutely love this
34:34Coming up
34:35As the team rush to pull the house together
34:41The family are stunned by their declutter result
34:45Holy moly
34:55At the house
34:56As the renovation rubbish is being collected outside
35:01New curtains and blinds are installed inside
35:05And while a heat gun dries the mortar used to repair the hole in the lounge room wall
35:11A thorough clean is underway
35:14It's now a constant parade of delivery trucks
35:17With the things I've ordered arriving all at once
35:20There's a contemporary new bed going in for James and Belinda
35:25And furniture for the lounge room coming in
35:28With a gorgeous new coffee table and an entertainment unit
35:32Plus two big comfy couches
35:35I've also got stylish cushions that suit the retro vibe I'm going for
35:40With the mortar now dry
35:42And the wall being painted
35:43The team have one final piece of furniture to get into place
35:50This enormous buffet belongs to the family
35:53And it weighs a tonne
35:54We can swing this side
35:55It's taking seven of us to move this monster into position
35:59I think we'd better go down
36:01Yeah, all right, go down
36:02And we've got to be careful
36:03No one's fingers get crushed against the wall
36:07Come back, come, come
36:08Yeah, that's it
36:12Thanks guys, you're the best
36:18Go, go
36:20There goes
36:22Belinda, Amy, Aaron and James are clearing the last of the clutter
36:26And these
36:27I was going to use them for crafts
36:29Get rid of them
36:31As a family, they're powering through everything
36:34From linen
36:35This is one of my old ones, get rid of it
36:36Okay, good
36:37To furniture
36:38Let them go
36:39Okay, good
36:40This guy?
36:41That can go
36:42And glassware
36:43These four little candlestick holders
36:45That you paid $7 each for
36:48Keep two
36:49Look at the smile on your faces
36:52Peter has really helped me break that clutter habit
36:56That can go
36:57To go back to the old way of living is not an option anymore
37:02And lastly
37:03Peter makes sure unwanted electronics stay out of landfill
37:07Stuff that's e-waste
37:09Straight into one of these boxes
37:10They go through everything and make sure stuff is recycled
37:13It's really great for the environment
37:22Finally, the huge task of decluttering is over
37:26On the count of three
37:28I want you to open your eyes
37:29And have a look at your keep pile
37:32One
37:34Two
37:35Three
37:36Open your eyes
37:38Oh, wow
37:40Are you serious?
37:41That's like nothing
37:42Far out
37:43Oh my god
37:45This is amazing
37:47I am speechless
37:49Holy moly
37:51You started at 350 boxes
37:54You're now down to 79 boxes
37:57Which is a decrease of 78%
38:02Well done
38:03Oh my god
38:04That is awesome
38:05Awesome job
38:06That's so good
38:0978% is an amazing achievement
38:11It's, yeah, unbelievable
38:15This is very impressive
38:17But I want you to turn around
38:18And have a look at your donate pile
38:20Check it out
38:22Check it out
38:23Oh
38:24Oh my god
38:26Oh
38:26Oh my god
38:27Oh my golly
38:30My god
38:31I'm just gobsmacked
38:33We've got clothes
38:35We've got furniture
38:36We've got stationery
38:37You are going to donate this
38:39And it is going to be
38:40The cash equivalent of
38:44$9,500
38:46Well done
38:48That is so generous
38:49Far out
38:49God, that is awesome
38:52$9,500 for charity
38:55Is unbelievable
38:57It is amazing
38:58To be able to forward the stuff on
39:01To those that need it
39:03Aaron
39:04You came into this resentful
39:06And embarrassed
39:07How do you feel now?
39:09Excited
39:10Yes
39:10Great
39:11We don't have to live amongst it anymore
39:13I feel like
39:14The new chapter is opening
39:16It's just going to change
39:17All of us so much
39:23The items suitable for donation
39:25Will be taken to a local charity shop
39:27While the small number of things
39:29The family have decided to keep
39:31Go back to the house
39:34Where Cherie's putting up new artwork
39:36In the main bedroom
39:40And adding an air purifier
39:41To keep the lounge room
39:42Fresh and comfortable
39:45While the team organise the renovated spaces
39:49And find the best spots for the family's returning possessions
39:53The final touches are put into place
39:56Do you like the bed?
39:58No
39:58I love it
39:59It's got the illuminated lights through here
40:02You've got three different settings
40:03And there's USB ports
40:05Phone chargers on the side of the bed
40:15Next
40:16Oh my god
40:20Oh my god
40:21Oh my god
40:21The transformed home is revealed
40:23Unreal
40:24Oh this is magnificent
40:33Aaron, Amy, James and Belinda are about to see their newly renovated home
40:39It's been a lot of hard work but worth it
40:42And I cannot wait to have a look at what the team have done
40:48It's a new beginning for our family
40:51I'm sure when I get to the house
40:53I'll be speechless
40:55I am extremely excited and cannot wait to see my family home
41:01Belinda, James, Amy, Aaron
41:04Remember when we first came to this house
41:06It felt like a cave
41:07You couldn't move in this space
41:09Well
41:10On the count of three
41:12I want you to open your eyes
41:13And check out your incredible new home
41:17One
41:18Two
41:19Three
41:20Open your eyes
41:23Oh
41:25Oh my god
41:26Oh my god
41:32Oh wow
41:32Are you serious?
41:34Oh look at this
41:35Are you sure this is our house?
41:36Oh my god, it's so bright
41:38Sensational
41:44The drab lounge room has been given a bright, retro inspired makeover
41:49With loads of personality
41:51I'm shaking right now
41:52This is amazing
41:53This is really, really beautiful
41:58So myself and the incredible team of tradies from Grey Army and Grey Care
42:02Work tirelessly
42:03First of all, we ripped up that grungy carpet
42:06That had been there forever
42:07And we put these beautiful floating floorboards down
42:11Looks absolutely incredible
42:12We painted right throughout in some rather bold colours
42:16They're beautiful
42:17They are beautiful
42:19You may notice that old big brown aircon that was in the wall
42:23It's gone
42:24It's completely gone
42:26It makes no sense
42:27We've got these beautiful big feature lights
42:30Gorgeous
42:30We've got new window furnishings
42:33We've got new artworks
42:35But I think the biggest thing in this lounge room is that you had one lounge
42:39Mm-hmm
42:39And you've now got a proper seating area
42:42All of you can sit down as a family
42:44All of you can sit down as a family
42:44All of you can sit down as a family
42:45All of you can sit down as a family
43:12And you've also got your grandmama
43:14I love it
43:16I love it
43:16Maybe one of the darling children could pop this on for you and we could wear it now
43:20Oh my god
43:21It felt empty in some ways to wear it without my grandma in there
43:26But now it's complete and I'm ever ever so grateful
43:31Aw
43:32They would both be so happy
43:34No, you're so welcome
43:40If only there was a space now to do crafting
43:43Show me please
43:44Come on, let's go
43:46Belinda's craft room was cramped
43:48And the lack of storage meant clutter spilled onto every surface
43:52Check out your new craft room
43:55Oh my god
43:57Oh my god
44:03Oh this is beautiful
44:06Wow
44:12Now it's a well-organized space where Belinda can get creative
44:17This is amazing
44:20Oh yes
44:21Oh it's just beautiful
44:23It really is
44:26So this is what Sheree has done
44:28Painted throughout
44:29New
44:30New blinds
44:31New window furnishings
44:32Lots of new lighting
44:33And they've completely rebuilt the skylight in here
44:37I love it
44:38And Sheree has made sure that you have a ton of storage
44:42I'm spacious
44:43I will not have any of the crafts coming out of this room now
44:47Okay, good
44:49Good
44:49Definitely
44:54The dated main bedroom was poorly laid out
44:57And the clutter made it difficult for James to recover from his injuries
45:03Oh my god
45:05Oh my god
45:06Wellza, wellza, wellza, wellza
45:13Unreal
45:14Oh, this is magnificent
45:21Now it's a stylish retreat where the couple can relax and James can recuperate
45:27Not in my wildest dreams but as I pictured this
45:31It's just beautiful
45:34We painted right throughout
45:35We got rid of all that horrible wood panelling that literally fell off the wall
45:40And we've got new modern panelling
45:42Beautiful
45:43We ripped up that carpet that had been here for over five decades
45:47You now have a modern plush carpet there
45:51Oh, I love it
45:52You've got this gorgeous bed with the illuminated lights
45:55And you might notice that the bed is now flipped around
45:59So when you come through this door
46:01You've got easier access to your bathroom
46:03We've upgraded all the electricals here
46:06So you've got beautiful lights
46:07Magnificent
46:09And we've warm-mounted the TV, James
46:11So you can lay in bed and watch telly
46:13And just completely relax
46:14Oh, sensational
46:18Oh, my grandmother's perfume bottle
46:20You spotted the bottle
46:22So, I went to a perfumery
46:24And said when you think of your grandmother you think of yellow roses
46:28So this is called the yellow rose
46:31It's a new smell for you
46:32Oh my gosh
46:32So you can wear it now
46:34And think of your nan
46:35That is awesome
46:36Oh, that is beautiful
46:38I hope you like it
46:39No, I love it
46:40Oh, good
46:43But that's not all
46:44There's one more surprise
46:46Belinda
46:46Would you like to open the closet
46:47And have a look?
46:51Oh, my gosh
46:54Oh, wow
46:59Does it look amazing?
47:01It does
47:02All your stuff up there
47:03And then I've got all of this
47:07The change in the bedroom is just sensational
47:10It's opened it up to make it more relaxing
47:13And it'll make it easier for me to move around
47:18It's got such a warm, bright feeling
47:21It's spring and winter
47:22It's got a really nice romantic touch to it
47:25It really does
47:28I'm loving that
47:29Peter, Cherie and Angie
47:31I'm so grateful to all of you for what you've done to help us
47:35I am really looking forward to a new fresh start
47:39Now it's just time to enjoy our new home
47:42And time together with my family
47:45I love how open it is
47:47Yeah
47:47It really is just beautiful
47:51Belinda was always devoted to looking after others
47:55But her clutter was causing deep resentment in the household
47:58Now she's succeeded in letting the excess in her life go
48:02She's gained stunning new spaces for the whole family
48:05And brought harmony back into their home
