00:04Paras, one for one of five, this is an unfamiliar situation for you. You have been there and done that
00:13and actually done better. In one season you went on to qualify for play-offs, one season you won the
00:22title.
00:24But this season, what can be, what is the actual panic station? Secondly, Hardik Pandya last time said that tough
00:34calls are to be taken. What can be the tough calls?
00:39I think to be honest, as you mentioned, that unfamiliar for us. Yeah, but you don't want to be in
00:46this position every time. So something that we need to work on.
00:52Tough calls in terms of what Hardik mentioned. I think I'm going to leave that conversation to the head coach
01:00and Hardik to kind of have that chat just before the game.
01:05But yeah, I think it's important to acknowledge the fact that we are in this situation.
01:12And to be honest, we are the only people as a unit that we need to work together and come
01:18out of this.
01:20I can assure you that we are working on it. There is no such panic in the team.
01:27It's a tough format. You're going to play tough opponents.
01:31If you don't turn up and play your best cricket, you're not going to win. That's the fact.
01:35So for us to look back at what we're doing is looking into situations on in which department, which areas
01:43that we can consistently improve.
01:46And I think that's the way we are looking at it.
01:49For part for us is ahead. And we only can learn from what's gone by in the last five games.
01:55But yeah, there's a long tournament ahead of us. And as like if I say like any other team, we
02:04are here to win.
02:05So our progress, our efforts are all in that direction.
02:17Updates on Rohit Sharma and Mitchell Santner.
02:21Both of it. In fact, if you're just walking by the nets out here, if you can just look at
02:28Rohit's batting.
02:29So yeah, he's working on it. Santner's fit. So unluckily, you know, we missed him in the last game.
02:36Picked up a bug. Not something that we could do. But both of it. Yeah.
02:44Last match, GT, person who came here said that we will play against KK.
02:52You're talking about the strength, the spin. We will play pace. That is our strength.
02:55Sorry, I didn't get it.
02:57They are playing against the strength. They have bowling department. They have a very strong pace attack.
03:02They also have good spinners.
03:03Right.
03:04Okay.
03:05Worry for Mumbai Indians is neither their pace, new ball bowlers are performing or the spinners is a problem.
03:12Santner wasn't fit.
03:15Makarand is not kind of performing as expected.
03:19So what of Makarand is, sorry.
03:21So how do you kind of look at it?
03:26I think, as I mentioned, I think it's important that you look back at, obviously,
03:31in ideal scenario, we would want our best players on the ground.
03:35But sometimes in terms of Mitch, wasn't available.
03:38So that's a reality. We need to deal with it.
03:41Also, the fact that if you look at the squad, there are other great options that we have.
03:45And that's one of the reasons why we went and building the squad.
03:50So we feel that there are enough resources that we can work around.
03:54Even though, yes, Mike didn't have a great game so far.
04:00But if you look back at the way he's performed throughout the season in the domestic cricket,
04:04and that's one of the reasons we picked him.
04:06But, yeah, I think the most important bit for us out here is trusting that individual.
04:11I think if he's scored for us, we always feel that he's good enough to represent any opportunity given.
04:18And I think we have, we have Ragu out here, skillful guys in the team.
04:25And I feel they're good enough to represent, given an opportunity.
04:29The preparation has been good for everyone.
04:32I thought everyone's been working hard in the nets, looking forward for that opportunity.
04:37So we'll see how it goes, looking at the combination.
04:48I think that's very much what the team management in terms of Mahila, Hardik, and other senior guys.
04:58Got a game tomorrow, so we still got a good 24 hours for us to look back and say,
05:02in terms of looking at the combination, the surface, and I think that call will be taken by them.
05:09The last match against Majap Kings, Mahila said Bill Chex was on the way.
05:14Yeah.
05:14So where has he reached?
05:16He's on the, he's there.
05:18Is he part of the team now, squad?
05:19Sorry?
05:20Is he part of the squad now?
05:21Yeah, he's arriving.
05:22He should be here.
05:23He's already arriving out here.
05:25Not for this game, but he'll be joining the squad soon.
05:29So you will see him in the squad, you will see him in the squad, practicing with us in the
05:34coming games.
05:34Is he in India now?
05:35Yeah, he is.
05:36Yes, yeah.
05:43Hi, Swamin from Star Sports.
05:45Parasa, could you, would you be able to pinpoint a few things,
05:50other parameters that have not worked on the bowling front as such?
05:53Because it's not often that we see that, you know, the breakthroughs are awaited,
05:59maybe the field placements are not up to the mark at times as expected.
06:03So what is it that needs to be set right immediately on the bowling front?
06:09I think in terms of, if you see this tournament going throughout the pattern that's come through this tournament,
06:17is there will only be a couple of games that have been played where teams have picked up more than
06:22three or four wickets.
06:23It's, you know, just a handful of games, you know, I can remember RR or the SRH game.
06:27Other than that, it's always going to be, always have seen that the pattern, the bat is coming hard.
06:32It's difficult picking wickets, also the fact that challenges, you no longer have the dimensions, different dimensions that team play
06:41through.
06:41That matters really, the surface matters also, so I think it's always been challenging for us in terms of the
06:49venue that we pay on, okay?
06:51It's never been a low scoring game, 200 is par, 190, now you've seen scores beyond 240, 250 is out
06:58here.
06:59So the bowler is always under pressure.
07:01We need to, as a bowling unit, look at options of how do we cut down on, realistically, I think,
07:08if you look back,
07:09you're never going to get a game at one today, which is 130, 150, 160, that's right.
07:14So we expect another 200.
07:15So the margins out here is the discussion out here, how do we minimize those 10, 15 runs, being smart
07:22about,
07:23as you rightly mentioned, about the field placement, the ball options, so those kind of options, we are looking at
07:30that.
07:30We're having a chat as a bowling unit, so where do we individually look at one ball that we could
07:36avoid and maybe cut down the total in 10, 15 runs.
07:41So, yeah, that conversation is going on.
07:45Every team has different dynamics, different approaches, and I think the team that does well, which adapts.
07:52So I think that's one thing that we're always looking at, how do we adapt to different teams, different scenarios,
07:58different venues,
07:59and kind of get the graph of what the wicket is and a pass score that we would be happy
08:04with end of the first session in case we are bowling.
08:11How challenging it is, you know, to have a conversation with someone like Jaspreet, who has gone wicketless throughout the
08:17tournament?
08:19I don't think it's challenging.
08:20If you're honest, I think, I'm sure you know Jasu, Booms, like, as good as I have, he's a fighter.
08:29You know, he's there, he knows a lot, depends on the team as far as the player or the bowling
08:34unit, and he's fighting your way through.
08:38So he's, is, what's important for me is, yeah, I think everything can't be related to just the wickets.
08:44He bowls at the different stages of the game.
08:47Many a times the roles that he comes in plays a very different role for us, you know, in terms
08:53of finishing the power plays, that kind of stuff.
08:56For me, the most important bit is how he turns up for the practice, every practice session.
09:02You saw him yesterday, came with the same intensity, did the stuff that is expected out of him, and just
09:08the preparation going ahead.
09:09So for me, I have no doubt, I'm sure others will, in the team as well, in terms of the
09:14captain, the coach, and all the management, have no doubt in terms of that performance may translate into wickets in
09:23future games.
09:24But very happy with the way he's turned up, and also not only the skill bit, it is the conversations
09:31that he's had with the others.
09:33I think that really adds a lot of value for us.
09:39Do you have any idea what kind of surface you're going to get?
09:42Because there are so many options here.
09:44You have black soil, you have red soil, you have mixed soil.
09:46So what you're going to get, any idea?
09:48I think I'm not going to get a red soil for sure.
09:50So other than it's a guesswork for us, surely not a red soil.
09:54I don't think...
09:57It's always been a black soil out here.
10:02You know, it's always been predominantly a black soil.
10:05We played last year on a black soil, never been on a red soil.
10:07So I'm assuming it's going to be a black soil.
10:10But as you said, it completely depends on what kind of a strategy they're going with.
10:15But we are assuming it may be a black soil.
10:17Are you saying the team has a choice of what wicket they want?
10:21It's a combination.
10:23It's the wickets they have, two or three.
10:25So in terms of the BCCI as a representative, the groundsman, and the curators have a chat.
10:31But I'm assuming it's going to be a black soil out here.
10:35So...
10:37Isn't it very wild?
10:40It's very wild.
10:40See ya!
10:42There's a senhor.
10:42It's a quel hazard no fear for us, but I have not.
10:43It's a clear use of우
