00:02As a normal 17-year-old, I was just going to a football game.

00:07As I was coming down here, I was riding brakes.
00:09But in an instant, everything changed.
00:11Lost control of the car, went off the road and hit a tree.
00:13And they told me, your son has had a ring.
00:14Turned over, flipped over.
00:16When the first responders got to them, he was not moving anything.
00:19A car crash left him paralyzed.
00:21He's broke his neck.
00:23And had damaged his spinal cord.
00:25Quadriplegic.
00:26I couldn't breathe.
00:26No use of his arms or his legs.
00:28I said, Mom, if I can't play sports, I don't want to be here.
00:31You know, give me a second.
00:33It's a little motion when you think about this.
00:35But once he got home, that's when the work really set in.
00:39Over time, slowly but surely, Jason started to get better.
00:41She was always there for him.
00:44When I first came home, everything started to fire up.
00:46They weren't firing up at first.
00:48And step by step, started to beat the odds.
00:51They ordered a $50,000 power charge.
00:54I said, Mom, if I sit in that chair, I'd never get back up.
00:56He said he wasn't staying in this wheelchair.
00:58I wore these Kyrie's.
01:01These are the last shoes that I had worn.

01:04People who make up their mind they're going to get better, I think, can drive their recovery.
