00:00So, Samidun is a, on the face of it, a prisoner support network for political prisoners and inverted commas.
00:09What they mean by that is PFLP and Hamas prisoners in prisons in Israel as well as in Europe and
00:17the United States and Canada.
00:18So, it is really just a front organization. Started out as a front organization for PFLP, is now a front
00:25organization for PFLP and Hamas in Europe, founded in the United States, banned in Germany in 2024.
00:33So, they shared the same bank account for their donations of a left-wing extremist group.
00:39So, you see these new found alliances. So, the target needs to be the capacity of the network.
00:45First, you need to understand these are networks. These are not individual perpetrators. These are not incidents.
00:52These are organized networks who conduct violence in a very strategic manner.
00:58And so, the target needs to be the capacity, which is the function of resources and the opportunity.
01:03Now, we cannot take the opportunity away. I said there's always going to be good, bad, or any reason why
01:08this is happening.
01:09But we can target the resources. And that is the core of what my argument with European governments is, is
01:16we do leave our extremists and terrorists and anti-Semites with their money pretty much alone.
01:23We have not effectively targeted that. And there are ways to do this.
01:27Quick question. You say, target the networks and target the money.
01:36When you proscribe an organization like Samidun is outlawed in Germany, for example, is that not sufficient?
01:44Please explain shortly.
01:47Never sufficient. You ban a group. That means legally that group gets dissolved.
01:52It's now illegal, but the people are still there. So, you know, they call themselves Samidun, and now they call
01:57themselves Mazabatil, which is not banned, but it's the same eight out of the nine leaders of Samidun are the
02:04leaders of Mazabatil.
02:05So then you can ban Mazabatil, and then they will call themselves something else.
02:09That's a necessary but not sufficient approach.
02:13You need to follow up with actually disrupting their ability to do something.
02:22You need to follow up with…
