00:00:00Challenge Cup, everyone wants the win.
00:00:02Crazy gang of feet in the Culture Club.
00:00:04All of them, guys.
00:00:05Gerrard!
00:00:06Oh, yes!
00:00:08Oh, yes!
00:00:10What a goal!
00:00:12Back to the score!
00:00:14Steele Trouble!
00:00:15Give it all!
00:00:16Give it all!
00:00:18This is the moment of joy that all professional footballers hope for.
00:00:22A moment to trade for the first time.
00:00:24Crystal Palace are winners!
00:00:30The biggest day in the all-new Macclesfield FC's short history.
00:00:38And Buckley puts it in.
00:00:40That doesn't look a bad ball.
00:00:41It's a great ball!
00:00:42It's a wonderful goal!
00:00:45Captain Dawson heads for Southman in front.
00:00:49That was perfect for the non-league team.
00:00:54Palace just can't get it away.
00:00:56Buckley rickets, touch the point, but he does!
00:01:00It's two for Macclesfield!
00:01:02Now we're really in the realms of FA Cup fantasy!
00:01:09Macclesfield and National League North have knocked out the FA Cup holders!
00:01:16It's getting emotional to see a bit younger, but they've achieved this.
00:01:20I'm so proud of them.
00:01:21It is the biggest shock that the world's greatest cup competition has ever seen!
00:01:30Hello and welcome to highlights of Sunday's FA Cup third round ties.
00:01:34After arguably the greatest FA Cup shock of all time yesterday, how on earth do we follow that?
00:01:39Congratulations once again to everyone at Macclesfield FC and their manager John Rooney will actually be joining us in the
00:01:46studio later on.
00:01:47Now we've got eight ties to bring you before that.
00:01:49Who knows, maybe this third round might still deliver us one more shock.
00:01:53And with me in the studio tonight are two veterans of FA Cup campaigns.
00:01:57Good and a few not so good, but both wear the scars of plenty of third round battles.
00:02:02Welcome to Dion Dublin and Phil Jones.
00:02:04Well Manchester United against Brighton stirs memories of the 1983 final between the two when Seagulls striker Gordon Smith was
00:02:12famously denied his moment of glory.
00:02:152004 Cup winner Darren Fletcher took interim charge of United for the very first time at Old Trafford with Steve
00:02:21Bauer watching from the commentary box.
00:02:25Darren Fletcher says he's the proudest man in the world to have the honour to walk out and lead Manchester
00:02:31United here at Old Trafford for the first time.
00:02:33And the FA Cup holds a special part in his heart as well.
00:02:37It was the first of nine medals with the club.
00:02:40He makes three changes today as Mount, Yoro and Mainu all start.
00:02:45Mainu starting for just the second time all season.
00:02:48Casemiro and Heaven are on the bench.
00:02:50There's no Luke Shaw who's being rested.
00:02:53Fabian Herzler from his freshness and has made six Brighton changes including Danny Welbeck.
00:02:59He's the captain against his former club, against whom he's scored seven times in 18 matches.
00:03:05Feltman, Coppola and Poscagli all come in to the back four.
00:03:14Cunha.
00:03:17Dalloe have made an early run.
00:03:18Had he timed the run.
00:03:19Well there's no flag at the moment.
00:03:21Dalloe!
00:03:22Steele came out quickly and he was on sight.
00:03:26But two minutes in, the Manchester United right back timed his run to perfection.
00:03:33Beautifully found by Cunha.
00:03:34The 35-year-old Jason Steele went to ground and made a crucial save.
00:03:41He's the 11th different man in the dugout to take charge of a Manchester United team since Alex Ferguson's retirement
00:03:4812 and a half years ago.
00:03:51And that will be another person again for the Manchester derby here in six days' time.
00:03:58Manchester United free kick.
00:04:03Quickly taken to Mainu and then Fernandes with the shot!
00:04:07And it's another excellent save from Jason Steele.
00:04:12He single-handedly has kept Brighton's clean sheet intact in the early stages.
00:04:18Steele at the full stretch.
00:04:21Hinchelwood.
00:04:23Put it back from Gomez.
00:04:27Cardioglu.
00:04:28They've numbers scored here, Brighton.
00:04:32Welbeck.
00:04:33Oh, he's done really well.
00:04:35Danny Welbeck off the line!
00:04:36And the follow-up's in from Gruda.
00:04:39The German has his third goal of the season.
00:04:42And Brighton, less than 12 minutes in, have the lead at Old Trafford.
00:04:47And after those two excellent opportunities at one end that weren't taken for United, Brighton accept theirs.
00:04:54And Danny Welbeck was right at the heart of this.
00:04:58Lovely cross.
00:05:00Martinez cleared it off the line.
00:05:01But only as far as Gruda, who swept it home to give Brighton the lead.
00:05:12He was the first phone call that Dallon Fletcher made before accepting the role for two games.
00:05:23Oh, Lamont has given it away to Welbeck!
00:05:27And somehow Manchester United survived.
00:05:30Ritter was offside anyway.
00:05:34Senna Lamont is the most relieved man inside Old Trafford.
00:05:42He will be the happier at the moment.
00:05:49Fernandes.
00:05:50For Cunha to run on to.
00:05:53Francesco is bursting into the penalty area.
00:05:55Cunha around Veltman!
00:05:58And went for the near-posed option.
00:06:01It had Steele scrambling.
00:06:04And it wasn't on target for Manchester United.
00:06:10Manchester United have lost in the third round of the FA Cup in just two.
00:06:14Of their last 40 ties.
00:06:20Coppola.
00:06:24Veltman into Gruda, who's onside.
00:06:28And he's found Welbeck!
00:06:29And it's 2-0 Brighton!
00:06:32And the former Manchester United man has come back to haunt them yet again!
00:06:39Eight goals in 19 games against the club where he won the Premier League title.
00:06:46And he has silenced Old Trafford.
00:06:48And he's doubled Brighton's lead.
00:06:52One touch out of his feet.
00:06:53And look at the second.
00:06:55It flew into the top corner.
00:06:57No chance for Lamont.
00:07:01His team.
00:07:02And he's finding an uphill struggle from this kind of situation.
00:07:06No way through for Fernandes.
00:07:1018-year-old Shea Lacy.
00:07:13To get the cross into Sashko!
00:07:16He'll be disappointed.
00:07:18But he was much more positive.
00:07:24Fernandes looking for Casemiro.
00:07:26He's beaten to it.
00:07:27By Coppola.
00:07:29And United get a corner.
00:07:33Maguire may be an added threat.
00:07:36If this can find him.
00:07:38It's towards him.
00:07:39And it is in!
00:07:41Well, there's Wombach.
00:07:43Six minutes of the 90 to go.
00:07:47Suddenly there's belief.
00:07:49Maguire and Shea Lacy.
00:07:51Just go jumping.
00:07:52And the Slovenian, just in front of Maguire,
00:07:56to squeeze it in past Jason Steele.
00:08:02He's seen this script as a player many times.
00:08:05Will he see it as interim head coach?
00:08:09Lacy.
00:08:13He's going to get a yellow card.
00:08:14Just a little over-exuberant there.
00:08:16The 18-year-old.
00:08:18Just over at it.
00:08:20And then caught Ayari.
00:08:23This side have actually won only one of their last eight games.
00:08:27Three defeats in that time.
00:08:28The only team they've beaten in that period were Burnley at home.
00:08:32Gruda.
00:08:37Cunha.
00:08:41He's going to look for Lacy.
00:08:49And it's gone Brighton's way.
00:08:52Oh, and Shea Lacy has thrown the ball away on a yellow card.
00:08:58And Simon Hooper is going to apply the letter of the law.
00:09:03And send the 18-year-old off on his Old Trafford debut.
00:09:09And that is a tough life lesson for the teenager.
00:09:17On a yellow card.
00:09:19And throws the ball away.
00:09:23And he is devastated.
00:09:31Hinchelwood.
00:09:32Trying to see out the final few seconds now for a memorable cup win for Brighton.
00:09:39No Fletcher fairy tale.
00:09:41Well, Manchester United exit the FA Cup at the third round stage.
00:09:45For just the third time in 41 ties.
00:09:49And it is Brighton who go through with their fourth win in their last five visits to Old Trafford.
00:09:58Manchester United 1, Brighton 2.
00:10:02I know you left here 11 years ago.
00:10:04But when you play them, you always seem to score.
00:10:06Yeah, I'm happy to score.
00:10:07I want to score every single game that I play.
00:10:11Hopefully today I've got another goal.
00:10:13And it sees us through to the next round.
00:10:15And that's my job.
00:10:17In terms of going behind, can you see the confidence levels drop?
00:10:19Are they a little bit fragile at the moment?
00:10:21Well, they are.
00:10:22But they've got to get away from it.
00:10:23You know, you can see that once they conceded the goal,
00:10:25it was difficult for them to respond.
00:10:27And it took them a while to get themselves back onto their feet.
00:10:29But that only changes with winning football matches and going on a run.
00:10:32And for me, you've got to dig deep to win football matches.
00:10:34To make six changes and play like that, what does it say about the ability of all your squad?
00:10:39Great togetherness.
00:10:40I think that's the main bit.
00:10:42It's not that I make changes to just change.
00:10:44For me, it's like the players, they deserve to play who want to pitch today.
00:10:49And therefore, it's great team performance.
00:10:51It's great togetherness.
00:10:52We can really rely on each other.
00:10:54How big a challenge is it now for whoever is going to lead this club between now and the end
00:10:58of the season?
00:11:00Managing leading Manchester United is one of the biggest challenges out there.
00:11:03I still think finishing top four or five, which are Champions League places, has got to be the objective.
00:11:08Definitely got the talent to do it.
00:11:09For me, the players have got to take responsibility for that as well.
00:11:12It's not on the manager.
00:11:13It's not on the club.
00:11:13It's on everyone together.
00:11:15They have to step up to the plate now, find a way to win football matches and go on a
00:11:18run and build some confidence.
00:11:20Well, we'll come on to just where this leaves Manchester United and their season in a moment.
00:11:24But, Dion, a first-ever FA Cup win for Brighton against Manchester United.
00:11:28Six changes today as well.
00:11:29We have to heap praise on them, don't we?
00:11:31Yeah, we do because a very, very brave side.
00:11:34And they had lots of good outfield players that were playing really good.
00:11:38But they also had their goalkeeper as well, who I think was absolutely outstanding.
00:11:43Made a couple of good saves early on.
00:11:45This one here, I'm actually thinking to myself, this is a goal.
00:11:48But Jason Steele gets out big, does that spider thing that Schmeichel started.
00:11:53And then he pulls out, you know, saves like that as well.
00:11:57And he also, you know, he started to play as well.
00:12:00Very calm keeper.
00:12:02Maybe put himself in the shop window as well.
00:12:05And he started off moves like this where Brighton were very comfortable to play through the thirds.
00:12:10And they commit players forward as well.
00:12:13This is a way at Old Trafford.
00:12:14In a very big game in the FA Cup.
00:12:16They've got five against four earlier on.
00:12:20There's your man.
00:12:21He's getting better with age.
00:12:22He's 35 years old.
00:12:23And he was just outstanding today.
00:12:26Yeah, I echo what you just said, Dion.
00:12:27I think he was terrific today.
00:12:29His distribution.
00:12:30You see passes like this.
00:12:32Not afraid at Old Trafford away from home.
00:12:33I think there's three passes here.
00:12:36Up, back and through.
00:12:36And a bit of better execution.
00:12:38He ends up one-on-one with the goalkeeper.
00:12:40But I just think some of his 30-yard pings.
00:12:43Some of his passes through the lines.
00:12:44Like here you see.
00:12:45Not pushed.
00:12:46Not rushed.
00:12:47Not panicked.
00:12:48Finds a great ball in between the midfield players.
00:12:52Here, Dogu probably gets on the wrong side.
00:12:54He needs to be over on the other side.
00:12:56Force him down the line.
00:12:57Even if he does get there before Dogu,
00:12:59he's still in a position where he can make contact with the ball
00:13:02and make an impact and try and defend it.
00:13:05As we wind it on.
00:13:06Great touch.
00:13:07Great ball.
00:13:07Great little reverse pass.
00:13:09And maybe Agate can cover around a little bit quicker.
00:13:12But this touch and finish from Danny Welbeck is absolutely outstanding.
00:13:16Honestly, I've been so impressed with the way he's played at Brighton.
00:13:19I'm going to let the viewers in on a little secret.
00:13:21And Dion will agree with me here.
00:13:23You were rather animated.
00:13:24When Danny Welbeck did score in this game,
00:13:26you kept saying people don't realise just how good he is.
00:13:29You saw it first hand when you were at Manchester United.
00:13:31Look at these.
00:13:32The stats speak for themselves.
00:13:33But as a player and as a person as well,
00:13:35is he perhaps now getting the recognition that he deserves?
00:13:38Yeah, potentially.
00:13:39I just think he's so...
00:13:40I don't think people realise how good he is.
00:13:42And, you know, everything he brings to the team,
00:13:45his attributes, his all-round game,
00:13:47the balance he brings,
00:13:48he's a character, he's a presence,
00:13:49he's seen his lead in his team.
00:13:50Now he's taken on that role.
00:13:53He scores goals.
00:13:54His link-up play is excellent.
00:13:55He's strong.
00:13:56He's aggressive.
00:13:57I just think he's a terrific all-round player.
00:13:59And don't forget,
00:14:00he's had two really serious injuries as well,
00:14:02which he's come back from,
00:14:02which is not easy to do.
00:14:03So to still be playing at 35 years old,
00:14:06at the level he is for Brighton,
00:14:07scoring goals,
00:14:08having an influence like that in a team,
00:14:10terrific.
00:14:10I think...
00:14:10Sorry, Kelly.
00:14:11I think he's found out that just stay in the middle.
00:14:14As you get older,
00:14:15you think,
00:14:16well,
00:14:16my legs can't take me out to the left and the right anymore,
00:14:18which is what he was doing when he was younger.
00:14:20And now he's 35.
00:14:21He knows I'm a centre-forward.
00:14:23Just serve me with chances.
00:14:24I will put them away.
00:14:26And like Jones has said there,
00:14:27he will score goals.
00:14:28And he's going to remain in the conversation,
00:14:30isn't he,
00:14:30for whether he should be in that England squad in the summer
00:14:32with form like that,
00:14:33I'm sure.
00:14:34It was good to see Kobi Mainu starting today.
00:14:36He hasn't had too many starts.
00:14:37He came off on the 62nd minute
00:14:40and it was Shea Lacey was one of the players
00:14:42that came on at that point.
00:14:43Big opportunity for him.
00:14:44I know he's someone that,
00:14:46again,
00:14:46you've watched a lot of,
00:14:47Phil.
00:14:47He did get sent off a second yellow.
00:14:50Darren Fletcher said he thought the first yellow
00:14:52was potentially a little bit harsh,
00:14:54but regardless,
00:14:54this was a harsh learning curve for Shea Lacey today.
00:14:57Yeah.
00:14:57No,
00:14:58look,
00:14:58Shea Lacey is going to be a top,
00:15:00top player.
00:15:01He's got everything.
00:15:03He's almost got the Phil Foden-esque touch
00:15:05and the way he dribbles,
00:15:06the way he commits players.
00:15:07He's aggressive.
00:15:08He's direct.
00:15:09He only needs half a yard to get the ball in.
00:15:12But I was devastated for him
00:15:14when he got sent off.
00:15:15You can see here,
00:15:16even when he came on against Burnley,
00:15:17first thing he does,
00:15:18commits a player,
00:15:19hits the crossbar.
00:15:20Here,
00:15:21only needs half a yard.
00:15:23And he's just all around game.
00:15:25He's very good.
00:15:25Every time he gets the ball,
00:15:27he looks like he's going to create something.
00:15:28He looks like he's going to make something happen.
00:15:31This one,
00:15:33he's over on the ball slightly.
00:15:35Yes,
00:15:35it's a foul.
00:15:36Yes,
00:15:36it's probably a yellow card.
00:15:37Just,
00:15:38it probably is a yellow card.
00:15:39I don't think he can have any complaints about that one.
00:15:43And then the second one,
00:15:45look,
00:15:45the letter of the law states that it is a second yellow card.
00:15:48I just think,
00:15:49in the manner of the game,
00:15:51Shea Lacey,
00:15:52his first appearance,
00:15:52I know it doesn't take,
00:15:53you can't take that into context as a referee.
00:15:55I'd just like to see him,
00:15:57maybe bide his time a little bit with that one,
00:15:59and maybe give him a warning rather than another yellow card.
00:16:01I thought it was harsh,
00:16:02but the letter of the law states is a second yellow card.
00:16:04He probably would have got,
00:16:07Simon Hooper would have probably got more plaudits from all the footballing world,
00:16:11if he'd have pulled him aside and said,
00:16:13listen,
00:16:13I should really send you off,
00:16:15but I'm not going to,
00:16:16this is your lesson.
00:16:17I mean,
00:16:17you can see what it means to him coming off.
00:16:19He looked like he was,
00:16:19I felt for him.
00:16:20He looked like he was devastated,
00:16:21didn't he?
00:16:21We've been patiently waiting,
00:16:22haven't we,
00:16:23for news on the managerial situation at Manchester United,
00:16:26and this result will only kind of increase the desperation for there to be a solution.
00:16:30What are you expecting to happen next,
00:16:32Phil?
00:16:33Some stability.
00:16:34It's difficult.
00:16:35It's been difficult for a number of months now.
00:16:38Obviously,
00:16:38Ruben Aberin lost his job.
00:16:41Darren Fletcher's took the team now.
00:16:42I think that,
00:16:43you know,
00:16:43he's somebody who understands the club,
00:16:45understands what it takes to play for Man United.
00:16:48He's been there through the tough times and the good times.
00:16:51But now's the time to get some stability back in the football club.
00:16:55And whether it's Darren,
00:16:56and I still think if it is Darren,
00:16:57he's got more than enough qualities and the people around him to help him with that to the end of
00:17:01the season.
00:17:01But now's the time,
00:17:02some stability,
00:17:03some calmness,
00:17:04and try and get some wins and try and get some momentum again.
00:17:08I mean,
00:17:08it's a word that we've used so often.
00:17:10It's always two steps forward,
00:17:11one step back.
00:17:12But whoever comes in,
00:17:13whoever takes charge for the rest of the season,
00:17:15it's got to be,
00:17:16you know,
00:17:16the aim has got to be to finish in those Europa League spaces or the Champions League.
00:17:20And of course,
00:17:21they're out of both of the Cups now as well.
00:17:22OK,
00:17:23well,
00:17:23Sheffield United have won seven of their last ten games as they've pulled away from trouble in the Championship today.
00:17:28They hosted mid-table League One side Mansfield Town,
00:17:32managed by the former Blades boss,
00:17:34Nigel Clough.
00:17:34Commentary comes from Paul Walker.
00:17:38Over a decade since these two last crossed paths.
00:17:432014 feels distant now,
00:17:45but one figure bridges the gap.
00:17:47Nigel Clough,
00:17:48once in charge here,
00:17:49guiding Sheffield United through a different chapter.
00:17:52Now back in South Yorkshire,
00:17:54at the helm of Mansfield.
00:17:55Sheffield United's FA Cup journey begins now.
00:18:00Now Mansfield looking to continue theirs,
00:18:04having navigated their way through rounds one and two.
00:18:10Mansfield Town in this first half,
00:18:13kicking towards what is today an empty cot,
00:18:16but still a sizable crowd here in the Steel City.
00:18:19Here's Oates.
00:18:22He's done brilliantly on it.
00:18:23Tester Davis.
00:18:25Terrific stuff from Mansfield.
00:18:27And more importantly,
00:18:29from Reece Oates.
00:18:33All right,
00:18:34well,
00:18:34straight onto the head of Harmer.
00:18:36Here's Lewis Reid.
00:18:37Oh,
00:18:38stunner!
00:18:41What a hit from Lewis Reid.
00:18:43Back at the club,
00:18:46where his career began.
00:18:47And 5,000 who came to dream of Bramble Lane,
00:18:52now daring to believe.
00:18:58Harmer opens up for Harmer.
00:19:01Oh!
00:19:03Another belter of Bramble Lane.
00:19:06This time it's gone in the back of Mansfield's net.
00:19:09Another special from Gustavo Harmer.
00:19:12It has become his trademark.
00:19:15This has been a fabulous cup tie.
00:19:18Oates,
00:19:20protecting it from Keanu Hoover.
00:19:23Never,
00:19:23ever gives anything up.
00:19:25And he's done really well again,
00:19:27Reece Oates.
00:19:27Chong slides in,
00:19:29takes him down.
00:19:30It will be a free kick.
00:19:33Oh,
00:19:33he lunges in for the ball.
00:19:35And he doesn't get the ball.
00:19:38Leave it in.
00:19:40Helps on.
00:19:42And the last touch was a red and white one.
00:19:45It is going to be a Mansfield corner.
00:19:47Cry of yellows.
00:19:49From the travelling hordes.
00:19:54Plenty of air on that delivery.
00:19:56And there's Reid again.
00:19:58And he's scored again.
00:20:01Would you believe it?
00:20:04The former Blade having the time of his life back in the Steel City.
00:20:11Two fabulous finishes.
00:20:13Two goals he will never forget.
00:20:17And Mansfield town are back in front.
00:20:20And how?
00:20:23Now Oates on the move.
00:20:26And this is where Mansfield are so dangerous.
00:20:28He can really move,
00:20:29Reece Oates.
00:20:30Evans galloping into the middle.
00:20:31He's found Aikens.
00:20:35Sensational stuff.
00:20:37Amazing scenes behind that goal.
00:20:42As Mansfield town of League One
00:20:44go 3-1 up.
00:20:47Stacks fans pinching themselves.
00:20:51Sheffield United well and truly shaken by that.
00:20:58Oates.
00:20:59Lovely touch.
00:21:00He's away again.
00:21:01It's Reese Oates.
00:21:02It's 4-1.
00:21:05Oh, this is fairytale stuff for Mansfield town.
00:21:10Scenes of unbridled joy.
00:21:13And Reece Oates,
00:21:15who's been an absolute menace for a minute one,
00:21:19gets his name in lights.
00:21:22A truly extraordinary scoreline we have here.
00:21:26Get a load of this scoreline.
00:21:29Sheffield United one.
00:21:31Mansfield town four.
00:21:34And that's four in three games now for Reese Oates.
00:21:37And if Sheffield United are to get themselves back in this cut side,
00:21:40something really needs to happen here.
00:21:43Bamford was being tugged at,
00:21:45so Sheffield United get themselves a free kick here.
00:21:49This is a long way out for Gustavo Harmer.
00:21:53It is Harmer who goes for it.
00:21:55It's a really good save from Roberts.
00:21:58Got a firm hand on that.
00:22:04Harmer lofting it high,
00:22:06looking for McGuinness.
00:22:07And Bamford!
00:22:09on from the bench to rekindle some hope
00:22:12for those in red and white
00:22:14on the day that he pens a new contract.
00:22:19Sheffield United
00:22:21are back in now with a sniff.
00:22:24Still lots to do.
00:22:26And it's Blades two,
00:22:28Stag's four.
00:22:30Rocks sending the cross in.
00:22:32Oh, it's an own goal!
00:22:34And just like that,
00:22:37it's all becoming very nervy again for Mansfield
00:22:41whilst belief is growing for the Blades.
00:22:44Well, I hope you're keeping pace with this.
00:22:47It is Blades three,
00:22:49Mansfield four.
00:22:52Mansfield really needing to dig in now
00:22:54to keep the Blades at bay.
00:22:58Burrows into Bamford,
00:22:59back for Burrows who struck it.
00:23:01And there's Campbell.
00:23:02What a block.
00:23:03Colossal from Sweeney.
00:23:08That was goal bound.
00:23:11And Ryan Sweeney
00:23:12playing a real captain's role there.
00:23:16Mansfield on the cusp
00:23:18of something very special here.
00:23:21Lewis Reid
00:23:22puts it into touch.
00:23:25It is all over!
00:23:27A fairy tale Sunday afternoon
00:23:30for Nigel Clough
00:23:31and Mansfield Town.
00:23:33Who have knocked our championship
00:23:36Sheffield United!
00:23:39Yeah, when you're 4-1 up,
00:23:40we should have seen the next 5, 10, 15 minutes out
00:23:42and we gave two poor goals away.
00:23:44I thought, you know,
00:23:45when you look at the quality of the other goals
00:23:47and Hamer's first goal as well,
00:23:48that would beat anybody,
00:23:49any goalkeeper in the country.
00:23:51But the other two were scrappy and avoidable
00:23:53and it obviously got them right back into it.
00:23:55But then the other side of that,
00:23:56I thought from that moment on
00:23:57and 65 minutes,
00:23:58I thought we sort of didn't shrink.
00:24:00We stepped up a little bit,
00:24:01we defended brilliantly
00:24:03and we were a threat as well.
00:24:04Trying to get that fifth goal,
00:24:05it wasn't all about sitting back.
00:24:07I'm really disappointed.
00:24:09Disappointed that,
00:24:10as I said,
00:24:11as the game went on,
00:24:12the manner of the goals
00:24:12are really poor
00:24:15and we've got to own it
00:24:16and they get the result
00:24:17that, you know,
00:24:18in the end they deserve.
00:24:19First time in the fourth round,
00:24:21I think,
00:24:21for 18 years or so,
00:24:22something like that.
00:24:23Anybody in particular
00:24:24you'd like next?
00:24:25Not even thought about it.
00:24:26Hope it's kind
00:24:27in terms of, you know,
00:24:28you're not one of the big boys.
00:24:29We were close to,
00:24:30I think,
00:24:30the last four boys
00:24:31with Man U.
00:24:32We were last out of the bag,
00:24:33which we've been a couple of times recently.
00:24:35I think they forget about us,
00:24:36you know,
00:24:36they just leave us there
00:24:38at the bottom of the bag.
00:24:38So we'll see who comes out this time.
00:24:42Well, don't worry,
00:24:43we are not going to forget about you
00:24:45because what's the performance, Dion,
00:24:46in front of 5,000 fans
00:24:49and a brilliant performance
00:24:50for Mansfield overall,
00:24:51but particularly for Lewis Reid,
00:24:53who started his career
00:24:54at Sheffield United.
00:24:55He's not going to forget
00:24:56this afternoon the hurry, is he?
00:24:57No, he'll want a copy
00:24:58of these goals, by the way,
00:24:59because he scored
00:25:00two absolute screamers.
00:25:02I mean,
00:25:03I don't know why Sheffield United
00:25:04haven't got anybody
00:25:05on the edge of the box.
00:25:06They've gone zonal,
00:25:08they've gone man for man,
00:25:09but these two players
00:25:10on the edge of the box,
00:25:11I mean,
00:25:11one of them being Lewis Reid,
00:25:13you're asking for trouble.
00:25:14Lovely first touch,
00:25:16bam,
00:25:16have that top corner.
00:25:18And they didn't learn their lesson.
00:25:19No, they didn't.
00:25:20I mean,
00:25:20they were quite brave
00:25:21from Mansfield, actually,
00:25:21because they've left
00:25:23Danny Ings 1v1 at the back
00:25:25and two on the edge of the box,
00:25:27but, you know,
00:25:27after the first goal,
00:25:28surely they learned their lesson.
00:25:30Two on the edge of the box.
00:25:31They do win the first contact
00:25:32on this header,
00:25:33but again,
00:25:34it falls straight to him.
00:25:35Great strike,
00:25:36gets a good connection,
00:25:37does get deflected,
00:25:38fortunate a little bit,
00:25:39but they didn't learn their lesson.
00:25:41And it's two good strikes,
00:25:42and it cost Sheffield United today.
00:25:44Yeah,
00:25:44it was a fascinating game,
00:25:45wasn't it,
00:25:46considering Mansfield 4-1 up
00:25:48at one point,
00:25:49and then they got it back
00:25:50to 4-3,
00:25:51and that was on 65 minutes.
00:25:53And I think that Nigel Clough
00:25:54summed it up really well there,
00:25:55didn't he?
00:25:55He said they didn't shrink,
00:25:56they had to hold on
00:25:57for 25 minutes,
00:25:58and they were still a threat.
00:26:00How impressed were you
00:26:00with their game management?
00:26:01Yeah,
00:26:02really good.
00:26:02I thought they,
00:26:03you know,
00:26:04they showed a lot of character.
00:26:05I thought they played better,
00:26:05actually,
00:26:06when it was 4-3
00:26:07than it was 4-1.
00:26:08But you have to see the game out,
00:26:10like you said,
00:26:10you have to manage the game
00:26:11really well.
00:26:11There's moments where
00:26:12your back's to the walls
00:26:13and you're defending,
00:26:13and bodies in the box,
00:26:15bodies on the line,
00:26:16but I thought they were
00:26:16really, really very good,
00:26:18and they deserve to win.
00:26:19Yes,
00:26:19we got our shock then,
00:26:20didn't we?
00:26:21Well,
00:26:21Premier League leaders
00:26:22Arsenal have been knocked out
00:26:23in this round
00:26:24in both of the last two seasons.
00:26:26Today,
00:26:26they travelled to the south coast
00:26:27to face Portsmouth,
00:26:29fourth bottom of the championship.
00:26:30Jonathan Pearce
00:26:31was at Fratton Park.
00:26:33A great cup-tight atmosphere
00:26:35at this famous old ground
00:26:36the last time
00:26:37these two met.
00:26:38the cup fifth round
00:26:38in 2020.
00:26:40Arsenal won,
00:26:41but Mikel Arteta
00:26:41contracted Covid,
00:26:43and within days,
00:26:43football have been shut down.
00:26:45The bookies down here
00:26:46and his Arsenal
00:26:47will catch as much
00:26:48as a cold here today.
00:26:50Portsmouth
00:26:50have not been passed
00:26:51this round since 2020.
00:26:53They make four changes
00:26:55from the crumpling
00:26:565-0 defeat
00:26:57at Bristol City
00:26:57ten days ago.
00:26:58Arsenal make ten changes
00:27:00from their 0-0 draw
00:27:01with Liverpool.
00:27:02Only Gabriel stays in.
00:27:04Martinelli was badly injured
00:27:05here in the 2020
00:27:06FA Cup tie.
00:27:07missed the rest of the season.
00:27:09Among 500 million pounds
00:27:10of talent on the bench,
00:27:11defendant Marley Salmon,
00:27:13who at 16 years
00:27:14and 135 days
00:27:15will be their youngest ever
00:27:17FA Cup player
00:27:18should he come on.
00:27:21Arsenal have had third round hiccups
00:27:23in the last two seasons
00:27:25and gone out at this stage.
00:27:27The last time they failed
00:27:28at round three
00:27:29three years in a row.
00:27:31That was back in the late 40s.
00:27:35Ben White
00:27:36hasn't played for Arsenal
00:27:38since the end of December.
00:27:40on they go.
00:27:43There.
00:27:44Chance.
00:27:45Good save by Kepa Hattu.
00:27:47The rebound's in.
00:27:48And Portsmouth lead
00:27:49inside three minutes
00:27:51against the league leaders.
00:27:53The top team in Europe
00:27:54right now.
00:27:55What a shock.
00:27:55On a weekend of shocks.
00:27:58Arsenal appealing for a flag
00:27:59that didn't come.
00:28:00What a start.
00:28:03Too much space
00:28:04on the edge of the penalty area.
00:28:07Chapped in with the initial shot.
00:28:08Parried by Kepa.
00:28:09Should have done better
00:28:10because he pushed it
00:28:11straight out
00:28:12into the path of Bishop.
00:28:13And from there
00:28:14the goal gave wide for him.
00:28:171-0
00:28:18to the championship side.
00:28:19They have never beaten Arsenal
00:28:20in the FA Cup
00:28:22in four previous meetings.
00:28:23They haven't beaten Arsenal
00:28:24anywhere
00:28:25since March 1968.
00:28:30Lewis Skelly.
00:28:34Martinelli
00:28:36takes on his man
00:28:37gets across
00:28:38and it's dangerous.
00:28:41Arsenal 7
00:28:42for the first corner
00:28:43of the game.
00:28:49He's at the corner.
00:28:51Arsenal corner
00:28:52so deadly at the east
00:28:54with a flicker
00:28:54at the near post.
00:28:55It's loose
00:28:55and they force it in.
00:28:57They have done.
00:28:58They're leveled.
00:28:59Norgon I think
00:29:00got the last touch
00:29:01and Portsmouth
00:29:02right ahead for very long.
00:29:03About four minutes.
00:29:05Another Arsenal set-piece goal.
00:29:07Really muddled defending.
00:29:09Goalkeeper's boxed off.
00:29:11Doesn't get anywhere near it.
00:29:13It might go in here
00:29:15off De Zell.
00:29:16That might be an own goal.
00:29:18Don't know whether
00:29:18he got the last touch.
00:29:19Norgon's going to claim it
00:29:20but it might officially
00:29:21go down as an own goal
00:29:22by De Zell there.
00:29:28Let's not forget
00:29:28Portsmouth won
00:29:29this competition
00:29:30in 2008.
00:29:32Big card of the runners
00:29:33up two years later.
00:29:34Here's Blair
00:29:35shooting opportunity.
00:29:37And the donkey book
00:29:38swirmed it away
00:29:39but didn't look comfortable.
00:29:41Sensible shot
00:29:42by Harvey Blair.
00:29:43Low
00:29:44across the greasy
00:29:45top surface.
00:29:48today when you arrive
00:29:49with lots of
00:29:50preparation work.
00:29:52Old school
00:29:52on A4 sheets of paper
00:29:55and uncovered
00:29:56as we are
00:29:56the A4 sheets of paper
00:29:58turned to papier-mâché
00:29:59and become
00:30:00absolutely useless.
00:30:03Nery with the run.
00:30:04Madueke's in behind.
00:30:06Nery stumbled
00:30:07after the challenge
00:30:08was made.
00:30:09It's just a corner.
00:30:11That Swanson went there
00:30:12all the way with him.
00:30:14Corner for Arsenal.
00:30:15He saw what they could do
00:30:17at corners
00:30:17the last time around
00:30:18and we've been seeing it
00:30:20all season.
00:30:21Three darks
00:30:22of the near post.
00:30:23It's flicked on
00:30:24by Martinelli
00:30:24Arsenal.
00:30:26It's a lovely
00:30:27glancing header.
00:30:29Portsmouth won
00:30:29Arsenal too.
00:30:31So many runs
00:30:32in there
00:30:33that
00:30:33beguile
00:30:34and bewitch
00:30:35and bamboozle
00:30:35defenders.
00:30:36So much movement.
00:30:39Another set piece.
00:30:41Another Arsenal goal.
00:30:44That's a set piece
00:30:45Manu.
00:30:46Conch is up so much
00:30:47for Arsenal.
00:30:51Here's Jesus.
00:30:52Lovely drop of the shoulder
00:30:53there and he's off
00:30:54and running.
00:30:54And Ben White
00:30:55is available.
00:30:56This could be dangerous.
00:30:57White low cross
00:30:57into the middle.
00:30:58It's come to Martinelli.
00:31:00He's missed
00:31:01from there.
00:31:03Goodness me.
00:31:04Easier to score
00:31:05than the one he got.
00:31:08Deflected through to him
00:31:09and he's bobbled it
00:31:11against the woodwork.
00:31:13Tentative prod
00:31:14at the ball really.
00:31:15No more than that.
00:31:17Madueke.
00:31:20Oh he's gone down
00:31:21it's a penalty.
00:31:24Defender wrong side
00:31:25to make the challenge.
00:31:26Swanson
00:31:26just before
00:31:28half time.
00:31:29Darts beyond him
00:31:30and Swanson
00:31:31bumps him
00:31:32from behind.
00:31:33Now Madueke
00:31:34comes forward
00:31:35to take the penalty
00:31:35himself.
00:31:37Angled run
00:31:38for a left foot strike.
00:31:43and puts it
00:31:44wide.
00:31:45That's a bad miss.
00:31:47The left footer
00:31:48with that sort of run up
00:31:49to reverse it
00:31:51and go that bottom corner
00:31:52you've got to be
00:31:52absolutely precise.
00:31:54Now let's off
00:31:55Ben for Portsmouth.
00:31:59Right.
00:32:02Madueke
00:32:03heavily done
00:32:04through the foul.
00:32:07Chopped it off balance
00:32:08when he made the challenge.
00:32:09Quick release.
00:32:10Jesus into the box.
00:32:11Martinelli.
00:32:12Arsenal have a two goal buffer.
00:32:15They took the free kick
00:32:16quickly.
00:32:17Portsmouth slow to react
00:32:18and Martinelli
00:32:20gets his second
00:32:20of the game.
00:32:22It's a lovely move
00:32:23and quick thinking
00:32:25by Arsenal.
00:32:26And they shouldn't
00:32:27be beaten from now.
00:32:29Speed of thought here.
00:32:32Lovely cross in
00:32:33by Jesus.
00:32:34Perfect.
00:32:34Beautiful.
00:32:36Absolutely
00:32:36inch perfect.
00:32:38Closes in on
00:32:39double figures
00:32:39for another season.
00:32:41Martinelli.
00:32:42So Campbell
00:32:43watching on.
00:32:45Arsenal
00:32:46and Pompey legend.
00:33:03Arsenal have just
00:33:27a 4-1 up.
00:33:30Arsenal have a 4-1 up.
00:33:32Arsenal have a 4-1 up.
00:33:33Arsenal have a 4-1 up.
00:33:34Arsenal are just about to make history
00:33:36I think.
00:33:37Because
00:33:38Marley Salmon
00:33:39born 16 years
00:33:41and 135 days ago
00:33:44will come on
00:33:45and become their youngest
00:33:46FA Cup player.
00:33:48off goes Gabriels.
00:33:51history is made.
00:33:54history is made.
00:33:54That frat and far
00:33:54and comes
00:33:55Marley Salmon.
00:33:59It's swift for Portsmouth.
00:34:03Leeds is dead
00:34:04and
00:34:04can't have a shot
00:34:05does have a shot
00:34:06Stunkepper's fingers
00:34:09but they've
00:34:104-1 down
00:34:10but they've been a credit
00:34:11to the club.
00:34:13They've got four
00:34:14Martellani also
00:34:15hit the post
00:34:16been convincing
00:34:17for Arsenal
00:34:18in the end.
00:34:19I thought overall
00:34:20we were excellent
00:34:20for large parts of the game
00:34:21ultimately
00:34:22it was a bit too much
00:34:22for us from
00:34:23set plays
00:34:24and also
00:34:25Arsenal really
00:34:26put the squeezing
00:34:26late on
00:34:27but yeah
00:34:28overall very
00:34:29positive.
00:34:30How delighted are you
00:34:31for Gabriel Martinelli
00:34:32because the last time
00:34:32he was here
00:34:33he got a bad injury
00:34:34and was out for months.
00:34:35Yeah well
00:34:36that's football
00:34:37that changes
00:34:38I think he's shown
00:34:39a lot of personality
00:34:39as well with
00:34:40what he had to go
00:34:41through this week
00:34:42I think
00:34:43and yeah
00:34:44some very good news
00:34:45on Kaya as well
00:34:46coming back
00:34:46after so many months
00:34:47Marley making his debut
00:34:48as well
00:34:49so yeah
00:34:50positive night.
00:34:52Well as Arteta
00:34:53alluded to there
00:34:54a difficult week
00:34:55for Gabriel Martinelli
00:34:56after the Conor Bradley
00:34:57incident did end
00:34:58with us talking
00:34:59about a positive
00:35:00for him
00:35:01a first hat-trick
00:35:02of his career
00:35:03how good was he
00:35:04today?
00:35:04He was
00:35:05pretty special
00:35:06there was
00:35:07a couple of moments
00:35:08where you know
00:35:09he shouldn't really
00:35:10have been able
00:35:11to score goals
00:35:12and head the ball
00:35:13in the back of the net
00:35:13but he was lively
00:35:14and he made a difference
00:35:15for Arsenal all day
00:35:17just for the positions
00:35:18he takes up
00:35:19and how positive he is
00:35:20he always wants to go forward
00:35:21that's what we want to see
00:35:23from Martinelli.
00:35:24Yeah given how the game ended
00:35:25it's kind of hard to remember
00:35:26that Portsmouth
00:35:27actually did take the lead
00:35:28in this one
00:35:28but they let the game
00:35:29slip away
00:35:30Phil
00:35:30did you feel like
00:35:31some of the goals
00:35:32that they conceded
00:35:32were actually avoidable?
00:35:34Yeah look
00:35:34they made a great start
00:35:35to the game
00:35:36I thought they pressed
00:35:36Arsenal really high
00:35:37won the ball back
00:35:38in a full-back position
00:35:39and got the goal from it
00:35:40but I think
00:35:41if they're brutally honest
00:35:42and when they evaluate
00:35:43the game today
00:35:44I think
00:35:45to concede three corners
00:35:47to concede three goals
00:35:48from corners
00:35:49is very disappointing
00:35:50if Arsenal are going to
00:35:51break you down
00:35:52it's got to be from
00:35:52open play
00:35:53it's got to be from
00:35:53a nice little
00:35:54intricate little pass
00:35:55here you can see
00:35:57Segicic there
00:35:57all he has to do
00:35:58is drop a couple of yards
00:35:59he's in the hole
00:36:00does neither
00:36:01lets the ball come in
00:36:03his job there
00:36:04is to get in front
00:36:04to win that ball
00:36:05at the near post
00:36:06again
00:36:06the same thing happens
00:36:08and it's so easy
00:36:09for Arsenal
00:36:11look you know
00:36:12what Arsenal are going to do
00:36:13they've done it all season
00:36:14the three of the players
00:36:15the three of the main
00:36:15headers of the ball
00:36:16they'll directly run
00:36:17as soon as the ball
00:36:18is being taken
00:36:19and try and get
00:36:20the first contact
00:36:20and they've done it
00:36:21three times today
00:36:22but if you're a Portsmouth
00:36:23point of view
00:36:23really poor
00:36:24really poor defending
00:36:26they didn't learn a lesson
00:36:28and didn't deal with it
00:36:29yeah it was happening
00:36:30again and again
00:36:30and as Phil said then
00:36:32we know that Arsenal
00:36:33are so strong
00:36:34from set pieces
00:36:34in particular corners
00:36:35yeah they are
00:36:36and I mean
00:36:38you cannot switch off
00:36:39as well
00:36:40I mean there's three
00:36:41Portsmouth players
00:36:42you turn your back
00:36:43on the ball
00:36:43when the ball's still
00:36:44it's not rolling
00:36:46and you allow Arsenal
00:36:47to take a quick one there
00:36:48I mean the ball
00:36:49in behind
00:36:51that back three
00:36:52is outstanding
00:36:53and I just feel
00:36:54that they made it easy
00:36:56for Arsenal
00:36:56Arsenal are a better side
00:36:57they made it easy
00:36:58and they just kept
00:37:00getting it wrong
00:37:00I mean
00:37:01Segacic on the near post
00:37:03there
00:37:03you don't have to take
00:37:04a little yard back
00:37:05Phil
00:37:05yeah but even
00:37:06Segacic
00:37:07I mean he's not
00:37:07the tallest of players
00:37:08so maybe they go
00:37:09with a different
00:37:09different man in the hole
00:37:10but it just didn't work
00:37:12everybody was getting
00:37:12first
00:37:13Arsenal were getting
00:37:13first contacts
00:37:14through every corner
00:37:15and I'm sure
00:37:16when he looks at it
00:37:17John Massini
00:37:17I'm sure he'd be
00:37:18disappointed to concede
00:37:19in the way he did
00:37:20well more Arsenal
00:37:21set-piece goals
00:37:21does mean that we get
00:37:22to check in once again
00:37:23on Arsenal's set-piece record
00:37:25and as it happens
00:37:26in case you hadn't noticed
00:37:27it is pretty good
00:37:28they have scored
00:37:29the most set-piece goals
00:37:29in all competitions
00:37:30out of the top five
00:37:32European leagues
00:37:33and they are
00:37:34streets ahead
00:37:35it doesn't matter
00:37:36what competition
00:37:37who the opponents are
00:37:38they know how to score
00:37:39from set-pieces
00:37:40yeah and you know
00:37:41as good as the movement
00:37:42is and what Phil
00:37:43described there
00:37:44was absolutely spot on
00:37:45the delivery is
00:37:46the delivery is
00:37:47absolutely spot on
00:37:48all the time
00:37:48they get it right
00:37:49in that area
00:37:50but a quick nod
00:37:51to Marley Salmon
00:37:52coming on
00:37:53and playing for Arsenal
00:37:54at 16 and 100
00:37:56and odd years
00:37:57that's outstanding
00:37:58so good luck
00:37:58to that young lad
00:37:59yeah brilliant isn't it
00:38:00when we see
00:38:01young players
00:38:02make their debuts
00:38:02in the FA Cup
00:38:03okay well West Ham
00:38:04haven't won any of
00:38:05their last ten games
00:38:05so Championship side
00:38:06Queen's Park Rangers
00:38:07might have fancied
00:38:08their chances
00:38:09at the London Stadium
00:38:10today
00:38:10commentary comes
00:38:11from Simon Brotherton
00:38:13West Ham makes
00:38:14six changes
00:38:15as they look for
00:38:16their first win
00:38:17of the new year
00:38:17at the third time
00:38:18of asking
00:38:19among them
00:38:20there's a quick
00:38:20return to action
00:38:21after the Africa
00:38:22Cup of Nations
00:38:23for Aaron Wan-Bissaka
00:38:24a first start
00:38:25for Ezra Mayers
00:38:26and an opportunity
00:38:27for Mads Hermanson
00:38:28in goal
00:38:28QPR sit three points
00:38:30off the playoffs
00:38:31in the Championship
00:38:32and make four changes
00:38:33from their 3-0
00:38:34win over Sheffield
00:38:35Wednesday
00:38:3520-year-old Ryan Colley
00:38:37replaces the injured
00:38:38Roman Borel up front
00:38:39Joe Walsh starts in goal
00:38:41while the former
00:38:42Newcastle midfielder
00:38:43Isaac Hayden
00:38:44and Karamoko Dembele
00:38:45also come into the side
00:38:54so far in this
00:38:55opening half an hour
00:38:56nothing on target
00:38:57from either side
00:38:58could change now though
00:38:59here comes
00:39:00Crescensio Somerville
00:39:01looking for an opening
00:39:02very nearly finding it
00:39:03that's an excellent
00:39:04flying save
00:39:05from the QPR
00:39:07keeper
00:39:07Joe Walsh
00:39:11familiar facial expressions
00:39:13among the faithful
00:39:13in this part of London
00:39:15pensive
00:39:16underwhelmed
00:39:17but still hopeful
00:39:24Cook was trying to get in there
00:39:26quickly on Castellanos
00:39:27Pablo feeding it
00:39:29to Magasa
00:39:29here's Somerville
00:39:30here's a chance
00:39:31and a goal
00:39:32right on the stroke
00:39:33of half time
00:39:34Crescensio Somerville
00:39:37and Crescensio Somerville
00:39:39and Queen's Park Rangers
00:39:39got to within seconds of half time
00:39:42on level turns
00:39:44but we're undone here
00:39:45good play by the new signing
00:39:48Pablo
00:39:48the little flick
00:39:49into Magasa
00:39:50Magasa picking out
00:39:51Somerville
00:39:52and Somerville
00:39:54had the speed
00:39:55and the skill
00:39:56to get it out
00:39:57from under his feet
00:39:58and lash it home
00:40:01and under the current format
00:40:02of the competition
00:40:04which is
00:40:04roughly 100 years
00:40:06QPR have been eliminated
00:40:07from the third round
00:40:07of the FA Cup
00:40:08more than any other side
00:40:1152 times
00:40:16here's Bowen
00:40:17as Tam looking to try
00:40:18and double their lead
00:40:19it's just out of reach
00:40:20for Magasa
00:40:27Colley making the run ahead now
00:40:29and Colley in possession
00:40:31Todibo's gone with it
00:40:33great play by Ryan Colley
00:40:34and still
00:40:35and Todibo was
00:40:38stretched to the maximum
00:40:40there
00:40:41a run which
00:40:42almost carried him
00:40:43all the way in
00:40:44on goal
00:40:45excellent play
00:40:46from the 20 year old
00:40:52look at Mbengay go
00:40:53Dembele ahead of him here
00:40:57track by Mayers
00:40:58he's going to take him on
00:41:07swung in by Mbengay
00:41:08it was a real stretch
00:41:09there for Hermansen
00:41:12QPR knocking on the door
00:41:13really loudly here
00:41:14and the deflection
00:41:15carrying him behind
00:41:18to the roar of 9000 travelling fans
00:41:21behind the goal
00:41:30and the shot
00:41:31from Ryan Colley
00:41:34cleared away
00:41:37encouragement though
00:41:38for Julien Stéphane's team here
00:41:42and here's Dembele
00:41:43decent one in
00:41:44there's a chance
00:41:45there's the equaliser
00:41:48it's Kone for QPR
00:41:50it's 1-1
00:41:52and they're alive
00:41:54in this FA Cup tie
00:41:56it's an all too familiar
00:41:58theme for West Ham
00:41:59this season
00:42:02but Queen's Park Rangers
00:42:03have been looking lively
00:42:06and Kone got in there
00:42:08ahead of Aaron Wan-Bissaka
00:42:10and the header
00:42:11beyond the despairing dive
00:42:14of Mads Hermansen
00:42:16in the home goal
00:42:17game on in this London derby
00:42:23what a noise
00:42:28so Czech leads the charge
00:42:30Aaron Wan-Bissaka
00:42:31will return the pass to him
00:42:35and West Ham United
00:42:35will have a throw
00:42:49and it's a corner
00:42:51Maxon frustrated
00:42:52but he and his team
00:42:53we're defending to do
00:42:54here now
00:42:58tricky one
00:42:59beaten away by Walsh
00:43:01doesn't fall for
00:43:02Somerville
00:43:02Mayers
00:43:03hopeful one
00:43:04back into the box
00:43:05Castellanos
00:43:06big block by Dunn
00:43:08goes for it again
00:43:08and another block by Dunn
00:43:10that's what you call
00:43:11putting your body
00:43:12on the line
00:43:12for your team
00:43:15terrific defending
00:43:19Pablo now
00:43:20continuing his run forward
00:43:22into Somerville
00:43:23back with Pablo
00:43:26Castellanos
00:43:27looks for an opening
00:43:28still looks
00:43:29has a crack
00:43:30oh good save
00:43:31oh good save
00:43:31and it needed to be
00:43:32it was a real finger
00:43:34stinger of a shot
00:43:36Castellanos
00:43:37picked his moment
00:43:38and
00:43:39it certainly
00:43:40needed saving
00:43:42extra time
00:43:44is almost with us
00:43:44here
00:43:46it's in towards
00:43:47Castellanos
00:43:48who stretches
00:43:49oh he was a whisker
00:43:50away
00:43:51from getting
00:43:52his toe
00:43:53on that one
00:43:55well
00:43:56it's turning into
00:43:57another long day
00:43:58for West Ham
00:44:02West Ham
00:44:03looking to try to avoid
00:44:04going out in the third round
00:44:05for the third season in a row
00:44:09and now with
00:44:10Jared Bowen
00:44:11up against Sam Fields
00:44:12nicely done
00:44:13oh good save
00:44:14to Denai Socek
00:44:16well he's hardly
00:44:17played this season
00:44:18Joe Walsh
00:44:19you have to say
00:44:20he's performed
00:44:21very very well
00:44:22this afternoon
00:44:27Bowen collecting
00:44:29picking out Somerville
00:44:30alarm bells ringing
00:44:31for QPR
00:44:32here
00:44:32tell you what
00:44:34they're going to have to
00:44:34come up with something good
00:44:35to get the ball past
00:44:36Walsh again today
00:44:44Scarles
00:44:46into Somerville
00:44:47oh brilliant
00:44:48superb from Somerville
00:44:50what's the delivery like
00:44:52it's good
00:44:52it's brilliant
00:44:53Tati Castellanos
00:44:55with his first goal
00:44:56in the English game
00:45:01just what he needed
00:45:03just what the home crowd needed
00:45:05scars into Somerville
00:45:07exquisite approach play
00:45:10from West Ham's number seven
00:45:12the inch perfect delivery
00:45:15and Castellanos gobbled up the chance
00:45:19West Ham two
00:45:21Queens Park Rangers one
00:45:24what did you like in particular
00:45:26that you saw from your players today
00:45:28I think the fight
00:45:29the way they went
00:45:32about the duels
00:45:33I think we much improved
00:45:34on that aspect
00:45:36sometimes playing good football
00:45:38good combinations
00:45:39the goal is a good combination
00:45:41sometimes not so good
00:45:42some things I didn't like so much
00:45:45but overall the desire
00:45:48and the courage
00:45:48and the spirit
00:45:50was there in the team
00:45:51that is important
00:45:52we pushed
00:45:53we gave everything today
00:45:54everything
00:45:55all the strength
00:45:55that we had on the pitch
00:45:57it was
00:45:58I think
00:45:59very good game
00:46:00in terms of organization
00:46:01defensively
00:46:02in terms of structure
00:46:03mindset
00:46:04of energy
00:46:05it was fantastic
00:46:06I want to congratulate
00:46:07as well our fans
00:46:09because they support us a lot
00:46:11no regrets
00:46:12I think the players gave
00:46:14everything
00:46:14and they did well today
00:46:17well a first win
00:46:18in 11 games
00:46:19for West Ham
00:46:20we haven't seen
00:46:20Nuno smiling
00:46:21for a very long time
00:46:23good to see him smiling today
00:46:24they really needed that
00:46:25didn't they
00:46:26yeah I'm delighted for him
00:46:27he needed that
00:46:28he needed to win today
00:46:29he needed a big performance
00:46:31you know
00:46:31a potential banana skin
00:46:32against QPR
00:46:33in the cup
00:46:34they've struggled in the league
00:46:35they're fighting for their lives
00:46:36at the bottom of the relegation zone
00:46:38in the Premier League
00:46:39I watched them a couple of games ago
00:46:40against Forest in the league
00:46:41and I thought they were
00:46:42they were okay in the game
00:46:43and then unfortunately
00:46:44they conceded a penalty
00:46:44in the last minute
00:46:45but I'm pleased for Nuno
00:46:46he needed that
00:46:48and hopefully
00:46:48that can be the catalyst
00:46:49for them to try and
00:46:50gain a little bit of momentum
00:46:51and try and
00:46:52some of the games
00:46:53they've got coming up
00:46:54with Spurs away
00:46:55Sunderland, Chelsea
00:46:56it's not easy for them
00:46:57no it's not
00:46:57and they need all the points
00:46:58they can get in the Premier League
00:46:59but going back to
00:47:00this game
00:47:01they'll be looking for
00:47:01all sorts of glimmers of hope
00:47:03what about Somerville
00:47:04scored his first goal
00:47:05in 29 matches
00:47:06and was also
00:47:07involved in the other goal
00:47:08as well
00:47:08can he be a glimmer of hope
00:47:10well you hope so
00:47:11he's lively
00:47:11he's incredibly lively
00:47:12very very quick
00:47:13he's an out and out winger
00:47:15all he wants to do
00:47:16is have the ball
00:47:16at his feet
00:47:17and turn
00:47:17and take on his defenders
00:47:20he did it all game
00:47:21I mean this is early
00:47:22early on by the way
00:47:23where he takes
00:47:24a little chop inside
00:47:25and he nearly starts
00:47:26the game
00:47:27with a goal
00:47:28and then he puts himself
00:47:29into a situation
00:47:30where it's not coming to me
00:47:32wide
00:47:32I'm going to have to step in
00:47:33just a little bit
00:47:33I mean his first touch
00:47:35wasn't great
00:47:35second touch was
00:47:37and the third touch
00:47:38is in the back of the net
00:47:39he was a real live wire
00:47:40and that's what
00:47:41West Ham
00:47:42are going to sort of
00:47:43hang their hat on
00:47:43players like that
00:47:45yeah I think
00:47:45you know
00:47:46look when you're down there
00:47:47when you're struggling
00:47:47when you're lacking of confidence
00:47:48you need somebody
00:47:49in your team
00:47:50who's got a little bit of something
00:47:51who can carry the ball
00:47:52who can take the ball
00:47:53and just shift it
00:47:54and stick one in the top corner
00:47:55or whatever
00:47:55but I thought he was terrific today
00:47:57everything came through him
00:47:58he was a threat all day
00:48:00he was a constant threat
00:48:01every time he got the ball
00:48:03something looked like
00:48:03it was going to happen
00:48:04and you look at this piece of skill here
00:48:06he leaves the defender for dead
00:48:08brilliant
00:48:08brilliant composure now
00:48:10and he executes his cross perfectly
00:48:11it would have been easiest for him
00:48:12to slash it
00:48:13or pick the wrong option
00:48:14but he picks the right option
00:48:16he dinks it to the back post
00:48:17perfectly executed
00:48:18and it's a great header
00:48:19it is so easy
00:48:21after doing that bit of skill
00:48:22to get excited
00:48:23and say
00:48:24shall I do some more
00:48:25just puts it in a great area
00:48:27really good play
00:48:27whilst West Ham have maybe
00:48:28struggled for goals at times
00:48:29and there's been a bit of an over-reliance
00:48:31some have said on
00:48:31Jarrod Bowen
00:48:32at the other end of the pitch
00:48:33they've really struggled
00:48:34not to concede goals
00:48:36Nuno's been in charge now
00:48:38for 17 matches
00:48:39and still doesn't have
00:48:39a clean sheet to his name
00:48:41given the way Nuno
00:48:42notoriously sets up his team
00:48:43does that surprise you?
00:48:45it does
00:48:45it does
00:48:46but they look so fragile
00:48:48they look so fragile
00:48:49when they're out of the possession
00:48:50they're easy to play against
00:48:52at times
00:48:53easy to score against
00:48:54conceding glorious chances
00:48:56against them
00:48:57but it looks like
00:48:58there's such a lack of confidence
00:48:59and belief in the squad
00:49:00I feel for them
00:49:01it's difficult when you're down there
00:49:03it's tough for them
00:49:03but they've got to find a way
00:49:04to get out
00:49:05and players like some of them
00:49:06will have to step up
00:49:07and play like he's played today
00:49:09yeah perhaps today
00:49:10can be a catalyst for them
00:49:11okay then
00:49:11well still to come
00:49:12we'll have highlights
00:49:13from four more ties
00:49:14plus the Macclesfield manager
00:49:15John Rooney

00:49:37from the WSL's return
00:49:38after its winter break
00:49:41well it has been a sad week
00:49:43for all of those
00:49:43connected to Leeds United
00:49:45after the passing
00:49:45of club legend
00:49:46Terry Yorath
00:49:47their players wore
00:49:48black armbands
00:49:49for the game
00:49:50at Derby County
00:49:50today
00:49:51Martin Fitcher
00:49:52was watching this one
00:49:55Terry Yorath played for Leeds
00:49:57the last time they reached
00:49:58the FA Cup final
00:49:59back in 1973
00:50:00such a key figure
00:50:02in that fabulous era
00:50:04which featured a fierce rivalry
00:50:06with Derby County
00:50:08today the championship side
00:50:10include
00:50:10fit again skipper
00:50:11Lewis Travis
00:50:12and Danish under 21
00:50:14international midfielder
00:50:16Oskar Fraulo
00:50:17who only signed days ago
00:50:19and is one of six changes
00:50:21Leeds have made eight
00:50:22Ampadu, Bjol and Gruev
00:50:25the trio that survived the goal
00:50:26Karl Darlow is in goal
00:50:28he conceded five
00:50:30on his last visit here
00:50:31with Nottingham Forest
00:50:38Clark
00:50:39oh that's brilliant
00:50:40through the legs of Tanaka
00:50:41Japanese has got back
00:50:43at him though
00:50:44and Darnie get the free kick
00:50:45it's magnificent footwork
00:50:47by Bobby Clark
00:50:49so skillful
00:50:50with the ball at his feet
00:50:54Forsythe takes it
00:50:55and it's a good one
00:50:56and it's just
00:50:57head and wide
00:50:58Danny Barth
00:50:59with the effort
00:51:01his last goal
00:51:02by the way
00:51:03came against Leeds
00:51:05on New Year's Day
00:51:062025
00:51:07he's not far away
00:51:08with that one is he
00:51:12you'll notice that
00:51:13both sets of players
00:51:15are wearing black armbands
00:51:16in tribute to
00:51:17Terry Yorath today
00:51:18Derby County
00:51:19actually offered
00:51:20Leeds the chance
00:51:21to have a minute's applause
00:51:22prior to kick-off today
00:51:23but Leeds
00:51:24respectfully
00:51:25said no
00:51:26we'll wait until next week
00:51:27when we're at home
00:51:28to Fulham
00:51:28and do it
00:51:28in front of
00:51:29our own supporters
00:51:32Tanaka
00:51:33found a bit of space
00:51:34he can look left
00:51:36for Mecha
00:51:36Park slides in
00:51:38it rolls towards
00:51:40Piru
00:51:41who smashes his effort
00:51:42against the post
00:51:43tried to beat
00:51:45Zeta Swim
00:51:46in his near post
00:51:47and very nearly did so
00:51:48and the post
00:51:49came to Derby's rescue
00:51:53Daniel Farker
00:51:54has never lost
00:51:55in four visits
00:51:56in four visits
00:51:56to Pride Park
00:51:58Bereton Diaz
00:52:00giving it away again
00:52:02it's Peru
00:52:04Mecha ahead of him
00:52:06out comes Zeta Swim
00:52:07caught the forward
00:52:09that could spell
00:52:10trouble
00:52:11it's a Leeds penalty
00:52:15Langas couldn't get to it
00:52:16Zeta Swim felt
00:52:17that he could
00:52:17and Mecha
00:52:19tumbles over
00:52:19the sprawling leg
00:52:20of the goalkeeper
00:52:21and that is
00:52:23an obvious penalty
00:52:24as you're ever
00:52:25likely to see
00:52:27Joel Piru
00:52:29who moments earlier
00:52:30was denied
00:52:31by the right hand
00:52:33post of Zeta Swim
00:52:34now has
00:52:35an opportunity
00:52:37from 12 yards
00:52:38it's saved by Zeta Swim
00:52:40brilliant from the goalkeeper
00:52:42it stays at 0-0
00:52:46and that will just
00:52:48perk up Derby County
00:52:50and certainly
00:52:51their supporters
00:52:51who must have
00:52:53feared the worst
00:52:54there
00:52:59forward by full side
00:53:01Blackett Taylor
00:53:01onside
00:53:02against Bourne
00:53:03out
00:53:03only Salverson
00:53:04in the middle
00:53:05at the moment
00:53:05for Derby
00:53:06Blackett Taylor
00:53:07struggling to keep
00:53:08his feet here
00:53:09in goes Brow
00:53:10to Diaz
00:53:11and Derby County
00:53:13have the lead
00:53:16just moments
00:53:17after Leeds
00:53:19failed to take
00:53:20the lead
00:53:20from the penalty
00:53:21spots
00:53:22Derby go
00:53:23one up
00:53:23up the other end
00:53:24Brow
00:53:25and Diaz
00:53:26with it
00:53:26his third goal
00:53:27of the campaign
00:53:28but the architect
00:53:30Corey Blackett
00:53:31Taylor
00:53:34there wasn't
00:53:35an awful lot
00:53:35for him to aim
00:53:36for here
00:53:36tried to go
00:53:37it alone
00:53:38could have
00:53:39died for the
00:53:39penalty
00:53:40but as the
00:53:41loose ball
00:53:42spilt out
00:53:43Ben Brereton
00:53:45Diaz
00:53:45was on hand
00:53:46to crash it
00:53:48home
00:53:48beyond
00:53:49the helpless
00:53:50Carl Darlow
00:54:02Gruev
00:54:04Tanaka
00:54:05clever ball
00:54:06Beal
00:54:07this looks promising
00:54:08Piru letting it run
00:54:09it's Nonto
00:54:10it's 1-1
00:54:15it's been all
00:54:16Leeds
00:54:17since the
00:54:17restarts
00:54:18and
00:54:19Willy Nonto
00:54:21rifles home
00:54:22his first goal
00:54:24since May
00:54:25it's a lovely move
00:54:27from Leeds
00:54:27great dummy
00:54:29from Piru
00:54:30Nonto
00:54:31given a bit
00:54:31of space
00:54:32unleashed
00:54:33plenty of venom
00:54:34and Zetterström
00:54:35given no chance
00:54:36to keep that out
00:54:37Derby 1
00:54:38Leeds 1
00:54:42Derby just
00:54:42hadn't started
00:54:43in the second
00:54:44half
00:54:48he's just
00:54:49winning every
00:54:5050-50
00:54:50Piru
00:54:51now it's
00:54:52Mecha
00:54:52water cross
00:54:53but hasn't
00:54:54stopped him
00:54:54now it's
00:54:55Okafor
00:54:56Piru
00:54:57great save
00:54:58from Zetterström
00:54:59but Tanaka
00:55:00is there
00:55:00to make it
00:55:012-1
00:55:01and the flight
00:55:02stays down
00:55:042 goals
00:55:05in little
00:55:05more than
00:55:063 minutes
00:55:06and Leeds
00:55:08United
00:55:08have turned
00:55:09this FA Cup
00:55:093rd round
00:55:10tie on
00:55:11its head
00:55:13just
00:55:14driving through
00:55:15the midfield
00:55:15with ease
00:55:16Ward should have
00:55:16done better
00:55:17maybe
00:55:19Okafor
00:55:19kept it alive
00:55:20Piru
00:55:21denied
00:55:22by Zetterström
00:55:23at full stretch
00:55:23but it
00:55:24bounces
00:55:25invitingly
00:55:25for the
00:55:26Japanese
00:55:26international
00:55:27who couldn't
00:55:28fail to just
00:55:29push it home
00:55:30from a couple
00:55:31of yards out
00:55:31his 3rd strike
00:55:33of the season
00:55:33and Leeds
00:55:34now
00:55:35looking strong
00:55:36favourites
00:55:36to make it
00:55:37through to
00:55:38round 4
00:55:38of the cup
00:55:44Okafor
00:55:45turning away
00:55:46from Langas
00:55:47Nanto
00:55:47again
00:55:48in space
00:55:49far side
00:55:50Forsyth
00:55:50reluctant
00:55:51to attack
00:55:51the ball
00:55:54Nanto
00:55:57here's the
00:55:58other goal
00:55:58scorer
00:55:58Tanaka
00:56:00left
00:56:00for Harrison
00:56:01third goal
00:56:02for Leeds
00:56:03and surely
00:56:03it's all
00:56:03over
00:56:04another
00:56:05great save
00:56:06from Zetterström
00:56:06how many
00:56:08has he produced
00:56:08today
00:56:09but for him
00:56:10this could
00:56:11be a much
00:56:12more comfortable
00:56:13scoreline
00:56:14for Leeds
00:56:18just under
00:56:19two minutes
00:56:20of added time
00:56:21to play
00:56:23longstop
00:56:24carries
00:56:24for Leeds
00:56:25it's Okafor
00:56:26James Justin
00:56:27is around
00:56:27the far side
00:56:28galloping
00:56:29into the
00:56:29penalty area
00:56:30here he is
00:56:31and there
00:56:32it is
00:56:32goal number
00:56:34three
00:56:34for Leeds
00:56:35United
00:56:35they finish
00:56:36with a
00:56:38flourish
00:56:38and James
00:56:40Justin
00:56:40has his
00:56:41first goal
00:56:42in Leeds
00:56:43United
00:56:43colours
00:56:44job done
00:56:45for Daniel
00:56:45Farker
00:56:46he can allow
00:56:47himself
00:56:47a wry smile
00:56:48as that one
00:56:50finds the back
00:56:51of the net
00:56:53assistant
00:56:53Redford
00:56:54actually flagged
00:56:54for a foul
00:56:55but good advantage
00:56:56by Anthony
00:56:56Taylor
00:56:57and then
00:56:58Leeds
00:56:58really punished
00:57:00Derby
00:57:01it's a good
00:57:02carry
00:57:02from
00:57:02Metscher
00:57:03and despite
00:57:04his best
00:57:04attempts
00:57:05Zetterström
00:57:06is beaten
00:57:07for a third
00:57:07time
00:57:08Leeds
00:57:09well-deserved
00:57:10winners
00:57:10Derby
00:57:11one
00:57:11Leeds
00:57:12three
00:57:14there's six
00:57:15players there
00:57:16that you know
00:57:17we're always
00:57:17going to tie
00:57:18just after
00:57:18half of time
00:57:18just with the
00:57:19nature of
00:57:20where they are
00:57:20from a physical
00:57:21point of view
00:57:22you know
00:57:23but to come
00:57:24off the pitch
00:57:26with good minutes
00:57:27into players
00:57:28that are going
00:57:28to be needed
00:57:28in this tough
00:57:29championship season
00:57:30now
00:57:30in the last
00:57:3120 games
00:57:32was really
00:57:32the main
00:57:33positive for me
00:57:34we needed
00:57:3420 minutes
00:57:35to come into
00:57:36this game
00:57:36but I think
00:57:37after that
00:57:37we created
00:57:38an unbelievable
00:57:38amount of chances
00:57:39sadly missed
00:57:40in the first half
00:57:40an unbelievable
00:57:41amount
00:57:41and they scored
00:57:42out of their
00:57:43situations
00:57:43and always
00:57:44difficult
00:57:44but we kept
00:57:45the nerves
00:57:46we stayed
00:57:46disciplined
00:57:47and cool
00:57:47and very
00:57:48mature
00:57:49really top
00:57:50performance
00:57:50of the lads
00:57:51who weren't
00:57:51worth today
00:57:52and we were
00:57:52all delighted
00:57:54well after an
00:57:55upturn of form
00:57:55in the league
00:57:56Leeds United
00:57:56also threw
00:57:57to the fourth
00:57:58round of the
00:57:58FA Cup
00:57:59Daniel Farke
00:58:00very happy
00:58:01Dion
00:58:01but it could
00:58:02have been a
00:58:02very different
00:58:03story
00:58:03as we saw
00:58:04because Derby
00:58:05were particularly
00:58:05impressive in that
00:58:06first half
00:58:06yeah did really
00:58:07good
00:58:07they went in
00:58:08half time
00:58:081-0 up
00:58:09deserved to as
00:58:10well
00:58:10could have been
00:58:10more than
00:58:11the one
00:58:11but one player
00:58:13in particular
00:58:14Corey Blackett
00:58:15Taylor was
00:58:16absolutely outstanding
00:58:17this is his first
00:58:18game back
00:58:19since the first
00:58:19game of the
00:58:20season
00:58:20so he's
00:58:21he's raw
00:58:22he's excited
00:58:23to be back
00:58:24he's showing
00:58:24all the energy
00:58:25and all the
00:58:25positivity
00:58:26that you want
00:58:27of a player
00:58:27that's been out
00:58:28for a long
00:58:28time
00:58:28I mean
00:58:29Sebastian
00:58:30Bornau
00:58:31must be
00:58:32delighted to
00:58:32see the
00:58:33back of him
00:58:33because he
00:58:34gave him an
00:58:35absolute nightmare
00:58:36his movement
00:58:36was good
00:58:37his end product
00:58:38was good
00:58:38and very very
00:58:39positive when
00:58:40he's got the
00:58:40ball at his
00:58:41feet
00:58:41always trying
00:58:42to create
00:58:42a chance
00:58:44for himself
00:58:44or a chance
00:58:45for one of
00:58:46his teammates
00:58:47nice strength
00:58:48there as well
00:58:48and then he
00:58:49goes again
00:58:50and what he
00:58:51does here
00:58:51is he weighs
00:58:52up these
00:58:52options
00:58:53he doesn't
00:58:54force it
00:58:54there's no
00:58:55pass on
00:58:55so he goes
00:58:56on his own
00:58:57doesn't work
00:58:57for him
00:58:58but he
00:58:58creates
00:58:59something
00:58:59for his
00:59:00teammate
00:59:00and I
00:59:01just believe
00:59:01that a
00:59:02player like
00:59:03that
00:59:03for Derby
00:59:04is going
00:59:05to get
00:59:05lots of
00:59:06results
00:59:06lots of
00:59:06goals for
00:59:07them as
00:59:08well
00:59:08they just
00:59:09couldn't
00:59:09keep that
00:59:10standard
00:59:10of game
00:59:11up in the
00:59:12second half
00:59:12and that's
00:59:13when the
00:59:13quality show
00:59:14yeah and of
00:59:14course Leeds
00:59:15made changes
00:59:15at half time
00:59:16James Justin
00:59:16came on
00:59:17just how much
00:59:18of a difference
00:59:18did his quality
00:59:19make to the
00:59:20game into Leeds
00:59:21yeah I thought
00:59:21it was a clever
00:59:22substitution
00:59:23I thought
00:59:23obviously Bernal
00:59:24as Dion said
00:59:25had a really
00:59:25tough start
00:59:25to the game
00:59:26tough first
00:59:26half
00:59:27Blackett Taylor
00:59:28was really
00:59:28good against
00:59:28him
00:59:29he struggled
00:59:30but I thought
00:59:30James Justin
00:59:31what it allowed
00:59:31them to do
00:59:32is he went
00:59:32into the right
00:59:33of the back
00:59:33three
00:59:33but what it
00:59:34allowed them
00:59:34to do
00:59:35was in
00:59:35possession
00:59:36he could
00:59:36play in
00:59:36more advanced
00:59:37positions
00:59:37and be more
00:59:38of an
00:59:38influence
00:59:39further up
00:59:39the pitch
00:59:40they were
00:59:40only pressing
00:59:41with one
00:59:42up top
00:59:42Derby
00:59:42so it
00:59:43allowed
00:59:43them to
00:59:44use James
00:59:44Justin
00:59:45in a much
00:59:45more higher
00:59:45position
00:59:46I love
00:59:46this pass
00:59:47it changes
00:59:47the complete
00:59:48picture of the
00:59:48game
00:59:49and then
00:59:50the know-how
00:59:52where Nonto
00:59:52is here
00:59:53from Pirro
00:59:53is excellent
00:59:54great contact
00:59:55great strike
00:59:57keeper probably
00:59:58couldn't do
00:59:59anything about
00:59:59it
00:59:59again these
01:00:00two in the
01:00:01middle of the
01:00:01park
01:00:01these two
01:00:01were terrific
01:00:02in the
01:00:02second half
01:00:03Nonto
01:00:03takes up
01:00:03a great
01:00:04position
01:00:05again really
01:00:06threatening
01:00:08nearly gets
01:00:08on the end
01:00:09of it
01:00:09comes back
01:00:10to him
01:00:12and it's
01:00:12a great
01:00:13save from
01:00:13the keeper
01:00:13the keeper
01:00:14makes a
01:00:14great save
01:00:15but the
01:00:15defender
01:00:15switches off
01:00:16ever so
01:00:16slightly
01:00:17and then
01:00:18James Justin
01:00:18as we
01:00:18spoke about
01:00:19just earlier
01:00:20Rian Brewster
01:00:21has got him
01:00:21there
01:00:22the play
01:00:23the break
01:00:23in the play
01:00:24bang
01:00:24he's off
01:00:25he sprints
01:00:26the full length
01:00:27of the pitch
01:00:28look at him
01:00:28trying to get
01:00:29back
01:00:29Rian Brewster
01:00:30is trying to
01:00:30get back
01:00:30now he sprints
01:00:31the full length
01:00:31of the pitch
01:00:32and he manages
01:00:33to get on the
01:00:34end of it
01:00:34and gets a
01:00:35great finish
01:00:35in the end
01:00:36but I thought
01:00:36it was a
01:00:36really clever
01:00:37substitution
01:00:37from Daniel
01:00:38Farke
01:00:38in the
01:00:38second half
01:00:39it just
01:00:40allowed
01:00:41Leeds
01:00:42to go
01:00:42three when
01:00:43they were
01:00:43in possession
01:00:44but two
01:00:45when they were
01:00:46out of
01:00:46possession
01:00:46when it
01:00:47comes to
01:00:47defenders
01:00:47because he's
01:00:48got more
01:00:48of a forward
01:00:49thinking brain
01:00:49and he
01:00:50deserved his
01:00:51goal
01:00:51yeah as
01:00:52John
01:00:52used to
01:00:52study
01:00:52they alluded
01:00:53to
01:00:53then
01:00:53I think
01:00:53they're probably
01:00:54really tired
01:00:54in the second
01:00:55half
01:00:55and it really
01:00:56showed they
01:00:56struggled to get
01:00:56about the pitch
01:00:57yeah and Leeds
01:00:57now have only
01:00:58lost once
01:00:58since the start
01:00:59of December
01:01:00and that was
01:01:00of course
01:01:00that ridiculous
01:01:01game against
01:01:02Newcastle
01:01:02that 4-3
01:01:03so they're
01:01:04certainly in an
01:01:05impressive position
01:01:05they're also in
01:01:06the relegation zone
01:01:07they're now
01:01:07eight points
01:01:08clear
01:01:08okay then
01:01:09let's see how
01:01:10three more ties
01:01:10played out today
01:01:11all between
01:01:11sides in the
01:01:12EFL
01:01:13Patrick Geary
01:01:18Norwich City's
01:01:19season has been
01:01:19the souffle
01:01:20that didn't rise
01:01:21Delia Smith
01:01:22doesn't do the
01:01:23catering anymore
01:01:23but Philippe
01:01:24Clement now
01:01:25does the coaching
01:01:25and perhaps
01:01:26there are signs
01:01:27he's finding
01:01:28the right mix
01:01:28Matej Juracek
01:01:30hadn't scored
01:01:30in his first
01:01:31year at Norwich
01:01:32and took out
01:01:33his frustration
01:01:34on that finish
01:01:34Walsall are third
01:01:36in League 2
01:01:37and might have
01:01:37posed a threat
01:01:38to Norwich
01:01:39but they were
01:01:39overwhelmed
01:01:40Jack Stacey
01:01:41was just about
01:01:41kept out
01:01:42but Jovan McCama
01:01:43finished the job
01:01:45McCama has been
01:01:46the standout
01:01:47performer
01:01:47for Norwich
01:01:48signed from
01:01:49Lincoln in August
01:01:50he's looked
01:01:50completely at home
01:01:51and emphatically
01:01:52made it 3-0
01:01:53at the start
01:01:54of the second half
01:01:55manager Clement
01:01:56said striker
01:01:57Josh Sargent
01:01:58requested not
01:01:59to play this game

01:02:23oh what a

01:02:25is
01:02:26quite some
01:02:27Sadler souvenir
01:02:28a goal of
01:02:29remarkable quality
01:02:30Norwich were well
01:02:31ahead on quantity
01:02:32though
01:02:33they'd make it
01:02:34five late on
01:02:34Tony Springick's
01:02:35first Canaries goal
01:02:37the icing on an
01:02:38expertly baked cake
01:02:41whole city had been
01:02:42going well in the
01:02:43championship and
01:02:43made only three
01:02:44changes for this
01:02:45tie but struggled
01:02:46to break Blackburn
01:02:47down it took
01:02:48until extra time
01:02:49for them to go
01:02:49really close
01:02:50Ollie McBurney's
01:02:51header save
01:02:52David Akintola so
01:02:54unlucky
01:02:54McBurney offside

01:02:57Blackburn made
01:02:58eight changes

01:03:29could find the
01:03:30lock in the
01:03:30first half

01:03:43closer range
01:03:44Josh Madger

01:03:50neither of these

01:03:53of it
01:03:54Jed Wallace
01:03:55firing them

01:03:56but this time
01:03:57it would be

01:03:59Zidane Inousa's

01:04:33we are now
01:04:34delighted to be
01:04:35joined by
01:04:36John Rooney
01:04:36manager of
01:04:37National League
01:04:37North Club
01:04:38Macclesfield FC
01:04:39in case you
01:04:39hadn't heard
01:04:40knock down
01:04:41cup holders
01:04:41Crystal Palace
01:04:42yesterday
01:04:43well John
01:04:43have you
01:04:44kind of let it
01:04:45all sunk in
01:04:46yet
01:04:46what's it been
01:04:46like since
01:04:47it still feels
01:04:48surreal to be
01:04:49honest
01:04:52something that
01:04:53hasn't been
01:04:53done for so
01:04:54long as a
01:04:55non-league
01:04:55side
01:04:55knock on a
01:04:56Premier League
01:04:57side out of
01:04:57the competition
01:04:59I know I
01:04:59touched on in
01:05:00the press in
01:05:00the lead up to
01:05:01the game
01:05:01about a
01:05:02little bit of
01:05:03hope but did
01:05:04I really believe
01:05:04it probably not
01:05:06fair play to the
01:05:07lads because they
01:05:07went out there
01:05:08yesterday and I
01:05:08gave everything
01:05:09I think from
01:05:10minute one I
01:05:11think it was
01:05:11the captain Paul
01:05:12Dawson who
01:05:12goes with that
01:05:13first there
01:05:13they didn't
01:05:14cut his head
01:05:14in the first
01:05:14minute but I
01:05:16think that set
01:05:16their tone
01:05:16for the game
01:05:17and you
01:05:18know
01:05:19they're the
01:05:19ones who
01:05:20go over that
01:05:20white liner
01:05:21and put that
01:05:21shift in
01:05:22but in the
01:05:23wildest dreams
01:05:24I didn't think
01:05:24we'd win the
01:05:24game
01:05:25they were
01:05:25immense weren't
01:05:26they Phil
01:05:26they were
01:05:27terrific
01:05:28Paul Dawson
01:05:28very Terry
01:05:29Butcher-esque
01:05:30with a bandage
01:05:30and bloody
01:05:31head around
01:05:32but no I
01:05:32thought they
01:05:33were terrific
01:05:33the way
01:05:34the way
01:05:34and we spoke
01:05:35off air before
01:05:35I think the
01:05:36way that they
01:05:37played the manner
01:05:38of the game
01:05:38not just to win
01:05:39the game
01:05:39but the manner
01:05:40of the way
01:05:40they've won
01:05:40the game
01:05:41was terrific
01:05:41and it's
01:05:43great to see
01:05:43it's great to
01:05:44see
01:05:45sorry Ken
01:05:46I mean
01:05:46you look at
01:05:47these pictures
01:05:48now John
01:05:49and you think
01:05:50every part
01:05:50of that stadium
01:05:51is absolutely
01:05:53jam-packed
01:05:53were you expecting
01:05:55it to be
01:05:55you know
01:05:56the atmosphere
01:05:56that good
01:05:58yeah I'd expect
01:05:59the atmosphere
01:06:00because I know
01:06:00what our fans
01:06:01are about
01:06:01but to get
01:06:03the win
01:06:04made it that
01:06:05bit more special
01:06:06I think
01:06:06even if we were
01:06:07losing the game
01:06:07I know what the
01:06:08fans are about
01:06:08they get it right
01:06:09behind it
01:06:09because they know
01:06:10the context
01:06:10have you seen
01:06:11any of this
01:06:11have you seen
01:06:12any of this
01:06:13yeah so when
01:06:14I got on
01:06:14last night
01:06:15I'm scrolling
01:06:15through my phone
01:06:16and actually
01:06:17after the second
01:06:18the second goal
01:06:19my little boys
01:06:20on the pitch
01:06:20with the players
01:06:21runs on the pitch
01:06:22so that's special
01:06:23as well
01:06:23but no
01:06:24when you look
01:06:25back at the videos
01:06:26you know
01:06:26you need to sit
01:06:27back and take
01:06:28it all in
01:06:28it's special
01:06:29we of course
01:06:30saw we had
01:06:30Wayne as part
01:06:31of our TV coverage
01:06:32and I'm sure
01:06:33you've seen it
01:06:33by now
01:06:33he was pretty
01:06:34emotional
01:06:35said how proud
01:06:35he was of you
01:06:36did you have
01:06:36your family there
01:06:37as well
01:06:38and what was
01:06:38it like for them
01:06:39yeah it was
01:06:40a special day
01:06:41for me
01:06:42the family
01:06:43and obviously
01:06:44Wayne was doing
01:06:44the game
01:06:44with BBC
01:06:46but you know
01:06:47to have me
01:06:47my wife and kids
01:06:48there as well
01:06:49you know
01:06:49it was a special
01:06:50day for the family
01:06:51of course it was
01:06:52an emotional occasion
01:06:53as well
01:06:53as well as being
01:06:54a really joyous
01:06:55one because of
01:06:55Ethan McLeod's
01:06:56parents being there
01:06:57as well
01:06:58that must have
01:06:58made it more special
01:06:59and you saw them
01:07:00after the game
01:07:00didn't you
01:07:01yeah so
01:07:01Ethan's dad
01:07:02dropped me a message
01:07:03the night before
01:07:04the game
01:07:04saying good luck
01:07:06and saying
01:07:07Ethan will be
01:07:07looking down
01:07:08on us
01:07:08I did want to put
01:07:09that in the group
01:07:10to the lads
01:07:10the night before
01:07:12but I didn't know
01:07:13how they would have
01:07:14took it
01:07:14so I just decided
01:07:15to leave that
01:07:15because I knew
01:07:16they'd be coming
01:07:17to the game
01:07:17and they'd get to see
01:07:18them after the game
01:07:18but when I went
01:07:20back in after the game
01:07:21it was his parents
01:07:23were sitting in my office
01:07:23and that's a special
01:07:25moment for me
01:07:25to spend that
01:07:26little bit of time
01:07:26with them after the game
01:07:27especially after a result
01:07:28like that
01:07:29but no Ethan
01:07:30was a top
01:07:32top lad
01:07:33a lad who I brought in
01:07:34to the football club
01:07:35and gave him that chance
01:07:36to come in
01:07:37and from day one
01:07:38I took a shine to him
01:07:40from day one
01:07:40and you know
01:07:41once we've got him in
01:07:42I had a special
01:07:43relationship with him
01:07:44and you know
01:07:45we'd give him
01:07:45little tips in training
01:07:46and he'd text you
01:07:47in the night time
01:07:48saying thank you
01:07:49and I've took everything
01:07:50you've told me
01:07:51on board
01:07:52but no he was a special
01:07:54special boy
01:07:54with a special talent
01:07:55as well
01:07:55I'm sure he was
01:07:56watching down
01:07:57immensely proud
01:07:57cheering you all on
01:07:59it is of course
01:07:59the draw tomorrow
01:08:00you're going to be
01:08:01at the draw
01:08:01is that right?
01:08:02Yeah yeah
01:08:02so we're going to go
01:08:04with Anfield
01:08:04so we're looking
01:08:06forward to
01:08:07who do you want
01:08:08that's what I want to know
01:08:09we want a big team
01:08:10away
01:08:10we want to play
01:08:11my league side of the way
01:08:11so you know
01:08:13maybe Liverpool away
01:08:14Arsenal away
01:08:14we've just seen
01:08:15Man United
01:08:16come out tonight
01:08:16I would have loved that one
01:08:17but you know
01:08:18I think any
01:08:19any of the Premier League
01:08:20teams away
01:08:21would be unbelievable
01:08:22for the football club
01:08:23financially as well
01:08:24for teams at our level
01:08:25to go through
01:08:25this far into the FA Cup
01:08:26it means so much
01:08:28to the club
01:08:28Everton are out there
01:08:29and I know you're
01:08:30an Evertonian
01:08:30that must be disappointing
01:08:31yeah so when we got
01:08:33back after celebrating
01:08:35on the pitch
01:08:36with the fans
01:08:36it was the first result
01:08:38to look for
01:08:38was the Everton one
01:08:40and once we've seen
01:08:40they got beat on
01:08:41Penza
01:08:41it was devastated
01:08:42but you know
01:08:43any of the top teams
01:08:45away
01:08:45it would be fantastic
01:08:46for the club
01:08:46well thank you so much
01:08:48for joining us
01:08:48that's actually all
01:08:49we've got time for
01:08:50tonight
