A tragic incident occurred in Bail Marchedi village of Manvi taluk, Raichur district, where a nameplate/signboard of a community hall collapsed on spectators who had gathered to watch a Bailata (folk performance). Two children, 8-year-old Vishwanath and 2-year-old Sanvita, died on the spot. Four others were seriously injured, including a 40-year-old woman named Basamala who suffered a broken leg and is being prepared for surgery. The incident has raised serious questions about accountability and the quality of construction of the community hall. Local MLA Basangowda Daddal visited the injured at the hospital to offer condolences. Villagers and locals are demanding an investigation into the contractor responsible for the poor quality construction of the community hall.
