Patrick Kee Chuan Peng, the chief operating officer of KPN Plantations, has been identified as a Malaysian victim who died in a helicopter crash in West Kalimantan, Indonesia.

Wisma Putra said in a statement on Saturday (April 18) that Kee was in West Kalimantan on work-related matters when the incident occurred on April 16.

00:06in Indonesia's West Kalimantan province on Thursday. Wismaputra identified the 67-year-old
00:13victim as Patrick Kee Chuan Peng, who was the KPN Plantation's chief operating officer
00:19and a former director of Malaysia's Kerpong Kuala Lumpur Berhad. They said Kee was in
00:25West Kalimantan for work-related matters at the time of the incident. They said the Consulate
00:31of Malaysia in Pontianak had coordinated with the Indonesian authorities, the employer and the
00:36family to facilitate the repatriation of the victim's remains to Malaysia. Kee reportedly
00:42began his career with KLK at a plantation in Kadah in 1982 and was appointed as the group
00:48plantations director in 2017 before his retirement in 2022. Reports said the search and
00:55rescue operation at the scene ended on Friday after all the victims' bodies had been recovered.
01:01There were five other passengers and two crew members on board the helicopter, which lost
01:05contact at about 8.40 a.m. and was only found about five hours after that.
01:11The helicopter belonged to Matthew Air Nusantara. Authorities said they deployed rescuers from
01:17the military and police to complete the two-day operation.
