00:00Even after a brush with death, this prolific group of luxury car thieves did not quit.
00:06This criminal organization stole high-end luxury cars, right out of people's driveways and garages.
00:13The suspects would target a nice neighborhood or follow a luxury car home and piggyback inside.
00:19They were casing the neighborhoods, looking for vehicles that they wanted to steal.
00:23And once they found that at a certain house, they were going into the garages of these victims' homes
00:28or just stealing the vehicle right out of the driveway.
00:33High-end luxury cars. You're talking your G-wagons, BMW, Range Rover, Lamborghinis, Ferraris were even on the list.
00:40They would walk right up to people's homes. They didn't care about people being home.
00:44They didn't care about people being outside.
00:46There were some times where people were in their backyard and they would take their cars from their driveway.
00:51If they ever got spooked or caught in the act, they would just jump in their car nice and easy
00:55and drive away.
00:57As soon as they stole them, they were looking for credit cards or anything valuable in the car.
01:02They would drive straight to a Target, anywhere where they can buy lump sums of gift cards and high-priced
01:09electronics.
01:09And they were taking those and selling those.
01:12The other half of the team is ripping the GPS out.
01:15Once that was done, they would go to an apartment complex and park the vehicle there, let it cool off
01:20for a couple of days.
01:21One of the other defendants would then line up the tow truck to come pick up the vehicle and transport
01:25it out of state.
01:26In one case out of Seminole County, they stole a BMW, tried to escape law enforcement on I-4, hit
01:33a pole so hard the car split in half.
01:35One of the suspects was no poles, no vitals on scene, but was later resuscitated at the hospital.
01:41They were arrested, bonded out, and the thefts kept going.
01:44At one point, we worked 16 out of 17 days straight, basically watching until we saw them do the crime.
01:51We saw them use credit cards, and then we ultimately arrested them.
01:54This was happening across multiple counties, and it took multiple agencies working together to stop it.
01:59And now these guys are off the street.
02:01DeMarco Fugar, Marvin Brooks, Damon Kelson, Bedrick Bush, Chad Thompson.
02:07They all got charged with racketeering and conspiracy to commit racketeering.
02:11The main suspects, looking at a minimum of five years at racketeering, carries a maximum up to 30 years.
02:17So I did calculate the MSRP for the stolen vehicles, and that was upwards of $2 million.
02:23Combined with the fraud that was used with the credit cards, it was almost $3 million.
02:28There were a total of 33 cases that we know of in this area.
02:31In all these cases, people left their keys in their car.
02:35Always make sure that your valuables are left out of your car, and always lock your vehicles too.
02:40No matter how secure your neighborhood is, you can still be a target.
