00:00U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Acting Director Todd Lyons, a key executor of President
00:05Donald Trump's mass deportations agenda, will resign at the end of May. Lyons, who was named
00:12Acting Director in March of 2025, led the agency at the center of President Donald Trump's plans
00:17to reshape immigration to the U.S. Under his leadership, the agency was granted a massive
00:23infusion of cash through Congress, which it used to expand hiring and detention capabilities,
00:28and it ramped up arrests to meet demands from the administration. Our officers and agents are being
00:34villainized for simply upholding and enforcing law, but the bottom line is that they risk their lives
00:39every day to serve our nation and protect our families, friends, and neighbors. ICE was also
00:44central to a series of high-profile immigration enforcement operations in American cities,
00:49including Chicago and Minneapolis. A deployment that ended after backlash erupted over the deaths
00:54of two American protesters at the hands of federal immigration officers.
00:59Mr. Lyons, I've heard my colleagues ask many questions over and over again, and you cannot answer them.
01:05So let me ask you some questions that you may be able to answer. Mr. Lyons, do you consider yourself
01:11a religious man? Yes, ma'am. Oh, yes. Okay, well, how do you think Judgment Day will work for you
01:17with so much blood on your hands? I'm not going to entertain that question. Oh, okay, of course not.
01:23Do you think you're going to hell, Mr. Lyons? I'm not going to answer that question. Of course not.
01:27How many governments do you need? The gentlelady will suspend. The gentlelady will suspend.
01:31Chairman? A gentlelady will suspend. As I said, the issues we're debating here are important to
01:36ones that members feel deeply about. Thank you, Mr. Mayor. While vigorous disagreement is part of the
01:41legislative process, members are reminded that we must adhere to established standards of decorum in debate.
01:46The witnesses are here voluntarily, and I will continue to remind members that while oversight
01:52is important, aggressively attacking those witnesses personally is inappropriate, and not in keeping
01:57with the traditions of our committee. Mr. Chairman, I'm just asking a question. You guys are always
02:03talking about religion here in the Bible. I mean, it's okay for me to ask a question, right?
02:07But let me continue on. I got your notes. All right, the gentlelady may resume. Thank you so much.
02:11Let me get back to my question, Mr. Chairman. Thank you. I appreciate you.
02:14How many government agencies, Mr. Lyons, are you aware of that routinely kill American citizens and
02:20you still get funding? Ma'am, I'm not going to entertain that.
02:23Of course you're not. Exactly. Exactly. Once again, questions that you cannot answer. And that is
02:28exactly why, Mr. Chairman, and to this committee, to my colleagues, and to my colleagues across the
02:33aisle, this is exactly why we should not be funding this agency. The people are watching you.
02:38They are watching you. And this is why we need to abolish ICE. With that, I yield back. Thank you
02:44kindly.
