Man who hit barrister after asking if he is Jewish ‘sought private sentencing’

A man who punched a barrister in the jaw after asking him “are you Jewish?” requested that his sentencing be heard in private, a court was told.

00:39The request for closed court proceedings followed quote-unquote social media posts suggesting revenge against the lawyer's client.

00:49The defence barrister said Steer's trial last month heard how he approached Mr Bohr and a friend as they waited

00:57for an Uber outside the venue on the opposite side of the road.

01:01The court heard Steer then twice asked Mr Bohr if he was Jewish and then punched him in the jaw.

01:10Steer then walked down the road and jumped over a fence while Mr Bohr called the police.
