00:04on sale this week the 1978 mark one Cavalier GL fantastic isn't it who was
00:12going to put one of them away thinking it's going to appreciate in money you're
00:16going to sweep it up weren't you if you put it away look at that out of first
00:20gear for the first time in about 30 years the 1972 Porsche when you say the
00:26word Porsche you would never in a million years think that would you never yeah
00:32the Vincent Rapide hell of a bike in it really these were the sports bikes of
00:39their day this was a thousand CC and their claim to fame was top speed was
00:44unknown because there wasn't a road long enough in England we must keep these
00:48bikes on the road it's lovely to hear them and see them go by and that's my aim
00:56the Matthewsons a dynasty of classic car auctioneers 55 the joys of an auction most
01:04people will go to us out with something in mind we'd come away with something
01:07different the fun is the chase we'll have a look and we'll advise you from there you
01:11just don't know what's on the end of the phone what you're gonna find when you
01:14open them doors this is a family's love affair with motors that have lived a life
01:19testing testing most people will buy a car because they can relate to it maybe a
01:24car that dad had you're selling dreams it's another day in Pickering
01:53I can't see a thing and the yards filling up with classics
02:01and these tractors are heading off to Pastures Mew Charlie's on the case no he's
02:07not that's the other one Charlie's on the Fergie I'm missing something I really am
02:14there's a knack with the actual starting gear on on just this tractor I parked it
02:23here yesterday I managed to start I don't know how and I can't remember oh it's
02:29probably doing my head in now I must be missing something must be meanwhile Derek's seeing in
02:37another van load of automotive treasures from Keith Q right what we got golf buggy
02:43golf buggy
02:47that's useful here we go a piece de la resistance a plank we're trying
02:54to sell some holes or a sign it's horrible isn't it terrible
03:07there you go and the winner of today's how many vehicles can you take in one go award goes to
03:14Chris
03:14Tranter and Edward price everybody's different tonight come with the cars we've got a mix of also we've got
03:27about another 20 ago probably all this for the major nearer it's amazing that the looks you get on the
03:36way home in it
03:46the dad bought it as a derelict farm house and barns and spent 10 years or so restoring it we
03:55do kind of joke that he bought some barns with a house attached rather than a house with some
03:59barns attached because he'd collected about 22 cars so he needed to store those 22 cars
04:08in rural Bedfordshire David Scott grew up amongst his dad's love of classics sharing memories and
04:15even a name I'm David Scott and dad was Dave to differentiate between us because it did sometimes
04:21get a bit confusing you're not kidding Dave not David used to own a local garage back in the day
04:28and his collection of British pre and post-war designs will soon be heading Pickering Way so
04:35we're in one of the sheds where dad's stored some of his cars there's four cars here but there's
04:40three going there's the Alvis here 1928 Alvis 1475 one of the first six-cylinder cars Alvis made lots of
04:51memories in that it was a lovely car lovely usable car here we have a lit lost in seven which
04:58was mum's
04:58everyday car till she was pregnant with me and she could no longer fit behind the steering wheel so
05:04and then dad bought her a new car so she could be pregnant with me and carry on driving many
05:13years
05:13later when I was 17 this was my car that I learned to drive in and of course I passed
05:19my test that's
05:21so first time one minor point so this is a 1952 Ford Pilot it was one of dad's later cars
05:31that he
05:31bought he was very much into his vintage cars so this was quite modern for him dad used to love
05:40it
05:40down the shed he was a man with a lot of energy I'm not quite sure how he did it
05:45all he was running a
05:47a good business at the time and restoring lots and lots of cars traction engines motorbikes vintage
05:53cars and restoring here as well all at the same time he he was a busy man so busy in
06:01fact that his
06:01shed collection overflown into the house we've got two vincent's here one that Derek is going to take
06:08away today dad hadn't both restored about 20 years ago and they've been interior decorations ever since
06:17and ready for someone to ride these were the sports bikes of their day this was a thousand CC and
06:24their
06:24claim to fame was top speed was unknown because there wasn't a road long enough in England and to
06:33top it all off there's a 1921 Indian Scout with sidecar dad used to drive it I used to sit
06:41in the
06:41sidecar bit like Wallace and Gromit it was fun fun days fun days yeah Derek's booked in to pick this
06:48lot up he's the obvious choice with his HND in pre-selected gearboxes and a master's degree in the
06:56Vincent Magneto I think I'd be most sad about the Elvis going I think lots of memories and if I've
07:08come to
07:08conclusion for if I haven't used them now and this is time to time to make room for for other
07:15things
07:27back in Pickering there are motors lining up from every era and waiting for a crack at the auction a
07:34rare survivor from the 70s complete with period roof rack what a straight proper genuine old car
07:42innit innit a little sweetie innit 38,000 miles brew innit how's it survived brilliant brilliantly that's how it
07:52survived you see a lot of fords but it's nice to see a Cavalier isn't it it is it is
07:58when and and that's the thing in it because you just don't see
08:01Cavaliers do you you don't see him oh look at that look at that I don't think I've ever seen
08:11any inner wings any better
08:13look at them it's amazing isn't it it's beyond amazing fantastic isn't it where's it been where has it been
08:24and you've not had that many of these through have you no because there aren't any they've all rotted away
08:30so good you could all have it been and you've not had that many of these through have you
08:31almost put it in a museum yeah but you're not gonna have to do loads of welding there is no
08:38substitute for originality is there
08:45during Britain's golden motoring age there's a fair chance you had a Cavalier or knew someone who did
08:51based on Opel the Manta and Ascona to be precise it was Vauxhall's answer to a family saloon and built
08:58to
08:59battle it out with the Ford Cortina if the Mark 1 was the cheeky upstart then the Mark 2 showed
09:05Vauxhall really
09:06meant business a sleeker more aerodynamic affair that swapped rear wheel for front wheel drive it sold like hotcakes with
09:14everyone from sales reps to busy mums
09:16bagging one after two decades of loyal service the Cavalier was put out to pasture in 1995 and replaced by
09:24the Vectra finding one in decent nick these days isn't
09:28straightforward the Cavalier didn't turn heads but it did turn the tide for Vauxhall
09:38and the market's changing isn't it you've seen that we've seen that well here it is you know Hillman
09:44very little interest it's sold okay you know no problem but you could buy three or four Hillmans for
09:50one Vauxhall Cavalier it's all moved on one if not two generations now and and we're all looking at
09:58relatable things aren't we stuff that the parents had and grandparents and things you know stuff that
10:04we can remember in our youth and we can remember these but who would have thought at the time of
10:09these who was going to put one of them away thinking it's going to appreciate in money you're going to
10:14sweep it up weren't you if you put it away but thankfully that person did
10:36in Bedfordshire Derek's tipped up for Dave Scott's 1952 Vincent
10:42here we are David good to meet you lovely to meet you as well as the Vincent there's also the
10:48small
10:48matter of a pre-war Austin a 1951 Ford pilot a 1928 Albus and whatever else he can squeeze onto
10:57his
10:58trailer with so many motors to shift good to see you mate you're right Derek's old chum Stuart Gray from
11:05the prestigious Shuttleworth collection is lending a helping hand we're here now
11:11desperate for a a a p and b a cup of tea how you fixed well i'll do the cup
11:15of tea but not the p
11:17i'll do that bit yeah
11:21the little Austin 7 go 672 yeah that was mum's everyday car was it really it was it was and
11:29um
11:29a v8 pilot v8 pilot powerful car sort of on top of the job aren't they it was a bit
11:34out of dad's era
11:35really dad was more into the vintage cars it was quite a surprise when he bought it so we got
11:41the
11:421928 alvis here uh six cylinder alvis yeah lovely aren't they as a family we used it a lot because
11:49it is a
11:49usable car yep wouldn't do 12. i'd like to think we could get it but i don't think it would
11:58do above it's
11:59almost criminal that they don't achieve more than what they do but you know you can't sell meat to
12:06a vegetarian can you you know they're just not there the buyers are just not there you know it's
12:11terrible shame isn't it with the market cooling on his dad's pre-war cars david's hoping it's a
12:17different kettle of fish for the bikes we've got this indian scout here indian scouts were
12:24in competition with harley davidson yeah very much so yeah very difficult to value and you're going to
12:30ask me to though give me an opinion aren't i rightly or wrongly 14 15 16 what's your thoughts perhaps
12:38a
12:38little low well i think the best thing we can do is is put it on the market and see
12:43what the response is
12:46there's distractions are plenty to tempt hawkeye derrick this was dad's everyday car when he used
12:50to go to work he did want to be buried in it but uh i didn't want to dig this
12:55big a hole including a
12:57couple of steam engines i love them they're works of art and i love to see them being used i
13:02love to
13:02see them stood in the shed like this and the 1918 moors from france dad bought it 30 odd years
13:09ago
13:09bought it of a film company it was used in bride's head revisited which was a quite a famous film
13:17back
13:17in the day but the jewel in the crown is taking pride of place indoors welcome to the living room
13:27it's actually a motorbike showroom it is it is
13:32last one we sold was 40 grand was it well they were doing 60 65 weren't they well i know
13:40i mean i've heard of like dealers trying to ask an 80 but i don't think they got it
13:47i've got to now work out what we're going to load okay so we're talking about so vincent vincent um
13:52the
13:53indian scout the austin 7 the ford pilot and the alvis
14:11back in pickering the doors are open and the bargain hunters are out
14:16i'm coming to have a look at this nice little lotus alarm it's the perfect car for
14:20this summer are you a fan of lotuses no this would be my first one do you know what lotus
14:27normally stands for no lots of trouble usually serious that's what they say isn't it you're not
14:33with the sales team are you
14:42when you say the word porsche
14:46there's one shape rings to mind isn't there and that's closely followed by another shape
14:50you know so you think 911 don't you and that's closely followed by 924 slash 944. you would
14:56never in a million years think that would you never tucked away at the back of the showroom one of
15:02porsche's lesser-known nine something or other series an early 70s collaboration with vw the 914. it's a
15:10lovely example of one of these but yeah but then we're all different aren't we when i look at this
15:20i can't help but seeing like the general shapes quite x19 yeah isn't it it's like an x19 on steroids
15:26isn't it yeah in it just yeah very much so yeah so on that basis it should work shouldn't it
15:31i don't
15:32mind an x19 but i couldn't see myself in that and as you very observantly said it's just
15:39a bigger version isn't it yeah for you jake that was quite good that yeah i should have thought of
15:45that i think i might pinch that the seller's hoping for 16 grand but dave's not convinced my gut is
15:55telling me we're not going to be snowed under with bids and it's also telling me that the bids are
16:03going
16:03to probably be 10 11 12 000 in my opinion i can't see it doing an awful lot more i
16:12hope i'm wrong
16:13and i and i'll be quite pleased to be proven wrong we shall chat after auction day and then we
16:20can
16:20discuss how wrong i am 780 is the porsche there we are very unusual then yeah really sort of out
16:32of
16:32porsche's comfort zone i would suggest back at the day but there you are it is what it is where
16:36we're
16:36going to be 12 800 we've got 12 000 8 12 8 13 000 at 13 000 then are we
16:43all done at 13 13 000. he's
16:46looking for a bit more don't blame him it's a nice car have a word with the team upstairs they'll
16:49try
16:50their best to put a deal together for you as dave predicted the 16 grand estimate was way off the
16:56mark
16:56and a month later it's back for round two with a hefty price reduction lot number 68 the 1972 porsche
17:07oh there we go look sits down there lovely looking thing uh recently restored recon engine with twin
17:1240 webers rebuilt the gearbox there we go look so we got nine we got nine two nine four nine
17:18six at 9600
17:20sold and away then at nine thousand six at nine thousand six hundred is the seven anywhere are we
17:25all done at nine thousand six hundred and it's on sale nine thousand six hundred then for the first
17:31second third and final time nine six gave plenty of warning dave was bang on the money and the porsche
17:40finally sells for nine thousand six hundred pounds right lock it up there mate super right i'll get
17:53a strap on it while you go and get the other when david's dad dave left a property overflowing with
17:59motors there wasn't much of a plan for shifting them on thankfully derek's got it all in hand
18:07one down that was the lighter one so we're putting the heavier one underneath the pilot is apparently
18:13quite a bit heavier the two and a half ton pilot hasn't turned a wheel for over a decade
18:20it's very sad but at the same time quite exciting it's a start of a new chapter in in one's
18:27life so
18:29fingers crossed derek can do his magic and uh get them sold i'd rather not see them back
18:36a wedding oh the last time it was yours was your wedding
18:41oh there's the ribbons you'll love that
18:45right okay hang on mate hang on you want it pulling wheel back wheel back
18:48back hold it push now you want to pull it get a shorter rope and pull it derek how heavy
18:55is that
18:55do you reckon bloody heavy i didn't think for one minute we'd push it up there but we'll give it
19:01a
19:01go here stuart do another one of them granny knots don't mind tell he's in the scouts
19:13is that heavy
19:17mgtd next right yeah the mgtd was david's dad's last project before he fell ill but with the austin
19:25and the bikes left to load space for another uh yeah i don't think we're going to get them all
19:31on
19:31though no no time for plan b bloody longer than what you think that thing
19:40bugger that ain't it so three men one tape measure and ten minutes later no
19:48okay yeah sorry about that chaps i was convinced they'd go on
19:53and the mgtd is back where it started all over my stripes
20:04leaving the 1952 vincent i'll bounce it you just push it ready
20:10all right steady away now steady steady steady we're away oh man too old for this job too old
20:18for this mate the early indian scout yep well happy and the little austin chummy
20:27yeah that's it yeah yeah cracking that there you go that'll do lovely nearly done yeah nearly done
20:37mate we're getting there nearly time for a beer yeah looking forward to a bit of relaxation sausage and
20:44mash you see oh sausage and mash would be lovely wouldn't it hey yeah i do like sausage and mash
20:51i'm a plain eater me i'm not all this keen on all this stuff you know in a so-and
20:56-so sauce
20:57i just want it just want a pork chop i don't want any sauce because i want to be able
21:00to taste the pork
21:01chop don't you i'm going mate i'm going lovely to meet you thank you so much thank you for your
21:07for your help but clearly i really enjoyed it brilliant place thoroughly enjoyed it and it's
21:11been a lovely day lovely job right i'll get on the road
21:20yeah it's a sad emotional moment but um life moves on and as long as they go to a good
21:27home
21:28and we get a fair price for for the cars but that'll be good
21:39so
21:53never knowingly under loaded derrick's landed back in thornton the dale with half of bedfordshire on board
22:00sort of a day off tomorrow
22:05day off in luke who would ever have thought you'd hear that day off at london
22:13right make some room get the lorry around it's not the easiest place in the world to use you know
22:20it's um like the biggest problem of course it's all split level isn't it but there's something about
22:26the old place you know it's just got so much character the whole place feels right with cars
22:32in the fact that it's not easy to move around is a nuisance but it's one of them things there's
22:37a
22:37lovely clock i found the other day look beautiful clock that's super it's amazing what you find when
22:44you have a look around it and first to unload is britain's answer to an american car big old cars
22:51these v8 pilots that's what they're made for a british market of course but they were very very
22:58frowned upon by british motorists and that v8 what do you want a v8 for what's wrong with a nice
23:04little
23:04underpowered four-cylinder side valve that would hardly put a skin off a rice pudding what's wrong with
23:10one of them they're a gangster car the craze would have had one of them no question about it they
23:14probably had a fleet of them this era of ford carried a lot of bakelite bakelite dash windows
23:22surrounds etc i suppose it was cheap and cheerful in them days i don't know how you make bakelite but
23:28it must have been cheap and cheerful otherwise they wouldn't have done it um so it was either metal
23:34wood or bakelite which i think that's very clever didn't you yeah but that is ford that is ford all
23:40over dubbed the material of a thousand uses bakelite was the world's first proper plastic
23:47invented in 1907 it was used in kitchenware jewelry radios the automobile industry jumped on the
23:54synthetic bandwagon with molded everything from radiator caps to steering wheels ford would make a
24:00big thing of that the v8 pilot bakelite dash but it cracks really easy especially in the sun so to
24:07find
24:07one like that it's quite unusual it's quite nice that just the two of you let's give her a little
24:16bit of a push mate some muscle has arrived in the form of charlie and buyer tom norton who's actually
24:22come to pick up a singer engine oh we're away now don't let it get away with you how far
24:33are you going
24:34with this leeds yeah yeah bradford after bradford we've been hit board in 1920s again it's going to
24:42take ages with that little barrow i'll be a while
24:53down in pickering and potential buyers are dreaming big
24:59don't look too bad does it i expected it to be absolutely rotten
25:06paramedic and commercial helicopter pilot lee davidson
25:08he's trying to breathe life back into an italian three-wheeler i've just come to have a look at
25:14this um little piaggio here just for my wife's shop really just for some advertising she has a little
25:19pottery shop in north allerton so i just wanted to see if this little thing starts and then we'll come
25:25to the auction see if i can buy it but we're just having a little little bit of problem at
25:30the moment
25:30trying to get it going ready what are we working with uh we're working with nothing we're working
25:41with nothing at all that's why it don't feel right oh there you go oh that's it yeah front lights
25:48are on
25:48are there give us a flash oh there we go what was that it was you we'll just oh hey
25:57oh i've got wipers on
26:11oh yeah yeah yeah she fired there didn't she that's great that's all i wanted to do was come see
26:19if it ran so all good yeah we'll see what happens on the day can't you people you know people
26:25come and
26:25want them so just gotta you gotta be in it to win it aren't you the theme of my museum
26:37is perhaps a
26:39little different than other museums is that we predominantly like um 60s 70s and 80s and maybe early
26:4890s uh vehicles and these are all really lovely condition the matthewsons aren't the only ones with
26:57motors in their dna for the last 15 months pat hawkins has been on a one-man mission to preserve
27:05the past i'm the owner of county classics motor museum in taunton and there's a few vehicles that
27:13i'm interested in specifically lock 420 which is a lovely voxel cavalier which has only done 36 000
27:22miles from new two owners the cavalier had a guide of two to four thousand pounds but i think that
27:30i
27:30would be prepared to go up to sort of seven and a half which is crazy really you know maybe
27:38you'll find
27:38another one somewhere in the uk but it's it's not gonna be in that condition it's very difficult
27:44because you know when you're bidding and your gut is saying uh don't give any more but your your head
27:51is saying give more we've all done it we're all guilty for this we can only do the best and
27:57just live
27:57in hope but uh we get them for the museum for the benefit of all not for the benefit of
28:04me for the
28:04benefit of all for people to enjoy and that's all that matters to me nothing else
28:14lot number 420 is a 1978 mark one cavalier gl
28:18three thousand nine hundred four thousand one 43 45 on sale 47 49 5 000 5 000 pounds 51 53
28:29you're out
28:30you're out 5 500 down the middle 55 57 59 61 63 you're out charlie five back in it's out
28:39this side 67 in down
28:41the middle you're out this side charlie 67 69 69 7100 please the bit of 71
28:50it's all gone quiet 72 3 73 7 300 all done you sure
28:59good out this side out that side 7 300 for the first second third and last time
29:07great great great great great i have gone totally mad
29:16next up the little italian workhorse
29:198 54 is a 2008 piaggio 8 make a nice little um coffee things wouldn't it coffee machine
29:26come on then come on then what's it worth start me 2500 better learn it's money back in no time
29:32selling coffee 26 sussex 27 yep can i say eight not quite made reserve but i'll say provisional 28 28
29:42next bid it's on sale promise you gonna submit 29 sold there you go 2900
29:47good 3000 pound north yorkshire sold and gone lancashire out i'm giving you time 31 back in 31
29:56yorkshire you're out 3100 third last time lancashire fair warning gonna be sold 31
30:05no pottery in north allerton for the piaggio then instead it's off for a new life in lancashire's
30:11capital of gingerbread ormskirk there's a rare sighting down in thornton le dale a lesser spotted
30:23paul amongst the pre-wars you know i don't like pre-war cars they're not for me they're too old
30:28they're too slow they're pretty horrible to drive but look at it it just lures you in doesn't it even
30:36like this here untouched forever you know forever and ever if that car could tell some stories boy
30:44would it not tell some stories wouldn't it and i think it's great there's vintage cars in there
30:51and vintage cars and nine out of ten of them been restored up haven't they would you rush to paint
30:58this car now nah don't spoil it don't spoil it if you restored that car and made it look lovely
31:06you've wiped out all that history all that patina because that car to me that's it and you've got
31:13to to embrace it because it's brilliant absolutely without doubt brilliant sitting alongside is its
31:23stablemate the 1930 austin i'm not an austin fan um certainly not lost in seven fun far too small
31:31useless but people love them i'd much rather have a morris eight morris eight's much better drive much
31:37better but they haven't got the following of austin seven bam in it out of these two
31:44alvis which one's got more of a chance of selling us the easier one to sell will be the austin
31:50and i deduced that because it's half the money to be blunt and there's more of an audience for an
31:57austin seven than there is an alvis however rare as end teeth go and find another one you can keep

33:24the states
33:24someone over there will appreciate you and someone over there would look at that bike that outfit and

36:27Where are we going to be with this one then?
36:2914 and a quarter, look.
36:31At 14,250 and five.
36:34At 14,500, is that it? Are we done?
36:3814,500. Hope you get it.
36:41With a closing bid almost £6,000 below the estimate,
36:44it didn't seem likely.
36:47Guide price of 20 to 25 grand.
36:50We've not got anything like that. It's disappointing.
36:53But after the vendor located the correct paperwork for the bike,
36:56it was a different story.
36:58Right, so he's upped his bid by £6,000, which is amazing.
37:05So he's offering 20 and a half.
37:08I think we'll get it all done.
37:11He's upped his bid by £6,000.
37:15Holy smoke!
37:17But we've worked hard on it, didn't we?
37:19We've gotten some information. We've found that there's a V5.
37:21We've moved it on and we've increased the value of it
37:24by doing some homework.
37:35Some car stories have a bittersweet ending
37:38and none more so than the 1978 Vauxhall Cavalier
37:42bought at auction by Pat Hawkins.
37:45We should let his close friend, Bill Kitchen, take up the story.
37:49It's the reason why I'm here, because Pat sadly passed away a month or so back.
37:57To say it was a body blow is an understatement.
38:00But Bill's now fulfilling his pal's wishes as the Cavalier moves to a unique motoring museum
38:06that Pat set up on a Somerset High Street six years ago.
38:10He sees this building in Taunton, so he wanted to do it for Taunton.
38:14He's Taunton born and bred and he wanted something back into the town
38:18and really has made a big impact.
38:21He'd be happy to see what's happening today, wouldn't he?
38:24I'm sure he'd be right here himself.
38:29Yeah, yeah, he would.
38:31Yeah, for sure.
38:37Hi, Tim, how we doing?
38:38For the last few months, the Cavalier has been fettled by museum volunteer Tim Yorke
38:43and today, it's moving to its new home.
38:47Oh, look at that, look.
38:48What do you think, eh?
38:49Looks a little bit different, doesn't it?
38:51It does, doesn't it? Yeah.
38:52Very nice. Yeah, yeah.
38:53Very nice. Don't rub too hard, you'll rub the paint off.
38:59Room straight away, look.
39:04God, there's sunshine on it, look.
39:06Yeah.
39:07How good does that look?
39:10Actually, it does look really good.
39:15Yeah, how about that?
39:16Clean as anything, isn't it?
39:18Yeah, yeah, it's come up lovely.
39:20Pat sorted out the sea's water pump and...
39:23Oh, yeah, I know it was all running.
39:25Beautiful.
39:26Yeah, even the radio cassette works.
39:28So, you know, we put our Demis Roussos cassette in there
39:31and off we go into the sunset, you know?
39:33What's not to like?
39:39Let's get this car down to the museum and away we go.
39:42Oh, look at that, out of first gear
39:44for the first time in about 30 years.
39:55He'd be so pleased to know it's coming in today and on the move.
40:04Well, she ran well, didn't she?
40:06Yeah, apart from the tyres, I think they've been stood around for probably 40 years.
40:10Old Mitchell and ZXs, I think they've gone a bit square, haven't they?
40:15But Pat's not here to see it going in here.
40:17Oh, isn't it just?
40:19Yeah, that's the missing ingredient, isn't it?
40:22But I reckon he's got a bit of an eye on us
40:25and he'd be proud of it, you know, he absolutely will.
40:31That's it.
40:33Perfect.
40:44I'm very privileged to be in a position
40:47to experience the ride of this motorcycle.
40:51It is quite a lump underneath there when you're riding it.
40:56It's a pretty heavy bike,
40:57but the performance on it is just amazing.
41:03In Cornwall, an engineering and design classic
41:07is emerging from a long hibernation.
41:11New owner Gary Tucker couldn't be happier
41:14with his latest auction purchase.
41:17You'll notice on the tank, the emblem,
41:20it's not A Vincent, it is THE Vincent.
41:25And that was the stamp of their approval.
41:33It's fast enough for me.
41:35I'm not a race fan,
41:36but I do like the classic looks.
41:40And it's a heritage of the British motorcycle industry.
41:46We've got to keep these bikes up and running.
41:49British technology.
41:50It's a vintage vehicle.
41:51Back in the 1950s.
41:53And still here today,
41:55people love it.
41:58Tracing the history of vintage vehicles
42:00isn't always straightforward.
42:02But the Vincent has paperwork aplenty
42:05following an extensive restoration in 1993.
42:08This is a rectification card
42:12which was written by Norman Peach.
42:16And Norman Peach was the Vincent road tester.
42:23Timing gear, dynamo, gearbox, rocker gear.
42:27Handles well.
42:29Engine better than average.
42:32How about that?
42:33So it should be.
42:38When I purchased the vehicle,
42:41I'd only done 30 miles.
42:43So in 30 years,
42:46this motorcycle had travelled 30 miles,
42:50which is unbelievable.
42:52I've done some road tests
42:53and I'm up to 90 miles now.
42:57We must keep these bikes on the road.
42:59There's a lot in the museums
43:02for everyone to see,
43:03but it's lovely to hear them
43:05and see them go by
43:06and that's my aim.
43:08But I get a lot of younger generation
43:11who say, wow, that is something special.
43:14And it's that character of the bike
43:16that makes it for me.
43:17That is what it's all about.
43:45And it's like, yeah.
43:48And it's like a bar,
