00:00But if you think the only air travel issues are in Europe, think again.
00:03Here's what we're dealing with stateside.
00:06As if the nation's air traffic control system didn't have enough problems already,
00:10now the overworked tower operators have to deal with this.
00:26That was exactly what it sounded like.
00:29Those were two pilots flying into Reagan National Airport outside of Washington, D.C.,
00:33making dog and cat noises instead of, you know, doing whatever it is pilots are supposed to be doing in
00:39these times.
00:39The preposterous moment comes from ATC.com, an online repository of airport radio chatter.
00:45Now, it's unclear what flight it came from, but controllers admonish the pilots, saying, quote,
00:50this is why you still fly an RJ, referring to a regional jet, which is kind of a sick burn.
00:55Apparently, an RJ's entry-level, kind of bottom-of-the-barrel piloting there.
01:00The FAA prohibits pilots from engaging in what it calls non-essential conversations when they're below 10,000 feet in
01:06altitude.
01:06You almost can't even call that a conversation because it's animal noises.
01:11Now, the FAA said about this incident, quote,
01:22But local news in D.C. spoke to an air traffic controller with 30 years of experience who said,
01:26while the Childish Act was technically against the rule, it's kind of like, quote,
01:30doing 56 in a 55.
