00:06obviously as a songwriter and an artist so much of your inspiration probably comes from your three
00:12kiddos right when it comes to what you're singing about especially one song in particular that
00:16really blew up back in 2021 or 2022 i think it was uh and now still to this day i
00:22mean it's just a
00:23smash hit tell us a little bit about how your kids inspire your music uh yeah um
00:30well it seems like a lot of y'all have kids too but um they uh kind of when you
00:34have kids there's
00:36nothing really else in your life going on you know what i mean absolutely yeah you don't sleep anymore
00:41and you don't uh go anywhere anymore and uh every time you have a thought it's something about them
00:47so i think they's kind of hijacked it more than anything i totally get that trust me even even
00:53today i was like well my wife has a busy day at work she works from home i was like
00:56maybe i can
00:56run home after the andy summer show pick her up run back in time to chat with you but it's
01:01like a
01:0248 minute drive home i only have a two-hour window like this is really pushing it my wife's like
01:07you're
01:08crazy i said i've got a couple moms in the sales department who are here to help me out and
01:12so i
01:12didn't end up pulling it i know you would have loved to have a kid running around here but it
01:16would
01:16feel like just like you're rehearsing at home with the kiddos you have a five-year-old a four-year
01:20-old and
01:20a two-year-old right right that's a fun household ain't it it's a wild one it's a wild one
01:26and then
01:26you know and then me i'm the oldest kid in the house right and my wife has to take care
01:30of all
01:30this i love that well let's talk a little bit about your kind of blue collar background let's put the
01:36kids aside for a second talk about your upbringing tell us a little bit about where you're from
01:39what you grew up doing how long have you been playing music um yeah i grew up in uh toad
01:46suck arkansas
01:47all and um i didn't know there's anything wrong with that name until i left and people actually
01:52like y'all do about it and um it was a town of 300 i was uh working on a
01:58farm uh started drinking too
02:02young yeah yeah thinking a lot well in a town of 300 what else are we gonna do you work
02:06and you
02:07drink and be sad right and then eventually leave if you're lucky did you play any sports growing up
02:13i did not i uh i raced some dirt bikes for a while and i've got uh i think i
02:19got pretty happy in the
02:20skeet shooting wow play pigeons i did that for a while is that something uh you get to continue to
02:27do on days off which i'm sure you don't have many of but uh not yet i think when my
02:31kids get old enough
02:32we'll probably all do it together my wife's actually really good at it really yeah she closes her eyes
02:36every time she shoots because she's scared of the noise but every time she does it turns to dust so
02:41before meeting you had she ever done that before i highly doubt it but she's just got a knack for
02:47it just a knack and was that a prerequisite for your forever partner was like gotta be a decent ski
02:52shooter no i don't think i don't think i thought about it too much probably wouldn't find very many
02:57of those out there so well trey this is really great because you're going to bless us with your
03:01incredible incredible music your great voice and i did notice before i let you sing a couple
03:07uh the bootleggers little tailgate tour with luke combs you posted about it on instagram so luke
03:13combs he's doing his uh his big tour this year on saturday nights i actually went to the opening
03:18in las vegas it was so incredible but he does these incredible shows with artists who are up and coming
03:23before and trey you were asked to be a part of that that's really neat it was neat it's really
03:27nice
03:27yeah so were you in in that kind of environment everybody there is a massive country fan so they're
03:34gonna take to your music i mean it's not like you're playing on the side of the street where
03:37anybody could walk by i mean everybody loves country music yeah that's that's that's very true so when
03:41you get that country audience in front of you what song do you start with oh well either uh i
03:49have one
03:49called country war friday night and i also have another one called podunk shit so it really i was
03:55hoping you would say that it depends well let's hear a couple of those songs everybody trey penley on
